APP copyright question

I have not read any of the APPS EULA's nor do I know where they are. I am curious about buying an app (from itunes on the computer, NOT the itunes app on the phone) and installing it on more than one phone, if it even can be done. My wife will get an iphone next month and am wondering if she will be able to install an app on her phone that I downloaded for mine.

You can sync to any compatible device that you sync to your itunes account, as far as I know.

Thanks for the question. From your description, it sounds like various Account Settings have been greyed out in your Settings application (iCloud, Facebook, Twitter). The cause for these being greyed out is a restriction setup on your iPhone. You'll probably see that Restrictions are turned "On" in Settings > General.
You'll want to disable the restriction "Allow Changes: Accounts". For more information on restrictions, see this article:

Screenshot copyright question?

I have no idea what forum I'd ask this question, so if my question can't be answered here, please advise where to post.
I'd like to put a screenshot of a Numbers spreadsheet on my website to demo something, but I don't know if there are any copyright issues. I've searched, but can't find any Apple page that deals with it. I found one for Excel on the Microsoft website with instructions, but nothing from Apple.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, it'd be appreciated,

Copyright question for posting to the web

hi all.
i am wondering if someone wouldn't mind giving me a bit of expertise on a question i have.
i have a set of images from various sources that are basically creative imagery. i have organized these and i would like to share them by posting them to an album on my flickr account.
i have named the files with the topic and the photographer and i am wondering if it is likely to create a problem. in /most/ cases these images are actually from the New York Times so the file name says "architecture house_ray jones NYT.png" or whatever.
is there a hard rule against this? is it possible to give attribution in the photo explanation and be OK?

You'd have to contact the copyright holder to find out what you can do with the images.

You do not HAVE to put a © symbol on each photo. If you own the photos, you hold the copyright. However, nothing stops a viewer from downloading the photo and using it without your permission.
To protect yourself there are alternatives: put a ©2013 by ME in the description of each photo. Always add your copyright notice to the metadata in every photo.
I once had several of my photos taken off the internet and then used in a commercial catalog without my permission. I was outraged, the catalog company was naive, and in the end I received $100 compensation and an apology. - Fabini

Story Maker Copyright Question

Hello,
I wish to post a video (commercial for my book) I put together using Story Maker onto YouTube. I have made two commercials already, but I recorded my own music for those older ones. For my new video, I wish to use one of the sample tracks provided on the Story Maker app. I could not find any copyright information about those songs, so I am wondering if I will run into any issues if I post the video as it is. If I need permission to use the music, from whom do I need to obtain that permission, and how may I contact them? Thank you!

I'm going out on a limb with a guess, but if BlackBerry has supplied music with its app and you're able to just throw the song in to any video you record, it can be assumed that the music is public domain. BlackBerry would not include any music for which you didn't have full permissions to share.
Just a guess but a pretty good one, I would think.

Alex voice copyright question

I'd like to know if apple has a copyright on the "Alex" voice itself. I'm a writer and I'm writing a series of poems about technology and computers. I really like the way the poems sound when read by a synthesized voice since it fits in with the technical vibe that I'm going for.
If I was to record "Alex" reading my poems into an mp3, add some mood music using garage band, what are the copyright considerations? I'm looking for several answers to the different facets of this question, such as:
Can I legally record the voice at all?
Can I legally record the voice and release it as free content?
Can I legally record the voice and release it as paid content (specifically, I'd like to release a companion CD with a book of poems)?
If so, is it simply a matter of giving apple credit and a citation for the voice? Or would I actually owe them money since I used their voice to read my content and made some (small amount) of money off of it?
If it's really an issue I can read the poems myself, trying to simulate a computerized voice, but I really like the "Alex" voice. It sounds like a neat mix of human and machine, sounding mechanical a large part of the time, but creepily human in others. It's a great effect, and really adds to the mood I am trying to establish with my series of tech poems.

I cannot comment on the legality issue.
However I would like to give some guidance on how to record poetry using Alex.
(1) You can record directly into an audio file.
* Put your text into a plain text file (not formatted or rich text). One way to do this is with TextEdit.
* Run Terminal, navigate (using "cd") to the folder containing that file. e.g. MyFile.txt
* type the following:
say -v Alex -f MyFile.txt
You should then hear the text spoken by Alex. If it sounds the way you like it, then type
say -v Alex -f MyFile.txt -o MyFile.aiff
You will not hear anything, but the file "MyFile.aiff" will be created in the same directory. You can play this in the Finder, put it into iTunes, work with it in GarageBand, etc.
The advantage of doing this, rather than plugging the audio output of your Mac into a recording device, is that the quality is maximum, there is no distortion, no added noise, no spectral imbalance, and the signal-to-noise ratio will be as good as it gets.
(2) When recording poetry (or anything else), liberally add punctuation. Particularly in poetry at the ends of lines. Commas add a pause and a falling-rising pitch pattern. Exclamation marks will raise the pitch peaks of preceding accented words. An intervening blank line causes a new paragraph to begin, which inserts a larger pause and does lots of things to the pitch.
Compare Alex synthesis of the following two passages. To do so, select all the text and then choose

You might not like that particular set of punctuation, but it illustrates the point.

Logic Loop Copyright Question

Hi all. My question is, are all of the loops provided in Logic, Garageband, or any of the Jampacks, free from copyright restrictions? Meaning when utilized for commercial purpose, do they need to be declared as samples, or is everything provided, basically up for grabs? Thanks!

I have a basic question about securing web applications. In our app, we have myRealm
pointing to an LDAP store. The store has (lets say) a group called 'dealers' and
it has a user 'dealer1'.
Now, in WEB-INF/weblogic.xml I have

Does the role name in weblogic.xml map to the groups called dealers in LDAP? I
have no specific roles configured in myRealm.

Report Generation Toolkit and App Builder question..

Hello,
I am in process of modifying my test code for writing my data to Excel. When I first developed the tests I did not have the Report Toolkit of Excel so I built the ActiveX VIs I needed. Now since I have upgraded to 7.1.1 with the MSOffice Toolkit I am rewriting my test code to use the toolkit VIs as it seems to work much better and faster then what I had done.
My question is this. Since I have my testcode distributed to multiple machines when I build my App, do I need to add every Dynamic VI within the toolkit to my App? if so is there and simple way to find exactly which dynamically called VIs are used within the toolkit VIs?

App Store Questions

Hey, so I just recently downloaded the App Store for Mac, and its working great, but I had a couple of trivial questions I was hoping someone could answer. Since I am now downloading all of my applications (pages, keynote, etc) and dont have a concrete cd anymore, how will I be able to move those applications onto another computer if the one I'm currently using gets trashed? (unlike when I would just have a cd and I could reinstall it in another computer and use the confirmation key to register it). Also, like many retail stores, it is possible to return software if its not what its lived up to be, so Im also wondering that if I download an application and decide I don't like it, do I have a timeframe or something where I'm allowed to "return" the application, get my money back, and have the app store uninstall it from my computer? If anyone can answer one or both of those questions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Copying an app works like copying any file; if you're copying from volume to volume, as you are when copying from one computer to another, it's a copy, not a move, so the original file remains in its original location.
if I drag an application iBank does all the data inside go as well or just the Application?
Data files for a Mac OS X application are almost always separate from the application file. You will need to check with the developer of the app to be certain, but in almost all cases if there's a data file kept, it will be separate and need to be copied separately if you want it on the other computer. This is definitely the case with iBank (I use it so I know).

We are planning to integrate our corporate website with Oracle Apps for creation of Appointment/Task,I have the following questions
1)How the security is to be taken care of if we want to call the Oracle API via database link or some gateway?
2)The corporate webserver is outside the firewall while Oracle Apps is inside,how both of them can talk to each other is that some thing has to be done with the firewall setting?
3)If Oracle Apps is down for maintenance usually how the companies handle transaction or do they just show a message that temporarily it is down,currently our requirement is to allow the customers to create task/appointments 24*7 as part of the requirement we need to check the territories/shift for availability for assignment of task so we can store the data temporarily and process it later also we need to return a confirmation number.

I am sure your network administrator can advise which is best for the purpose you need it for.
3)If Oracle Apps is down for maintenance usually how the companies handle transaction.You have to configure a HA-high availablity system, probably multinode, so when a box is down, the others can kick in to handle the customers 24*7 demands, otherwise, you may have to just advise that the system is unavailable via a website. Attempting to configure a temporary storage point can prove to be more of a management issue. Most things are possible, it only depends on your strategy and available support and managemment budget and resources.

2. Does HP offer an SDK or OXP support for developers to work with inkjets?
