App corrupting other apps

I have an app that I downloaded that appears to be overriding other apps. If I go to use an app the icon for this other one appears. I did uninstall the bad app but can't seem to get this resolved.
Any suggestions?

What you describe is an Android App (your describing the Android App Player, all the android apps and played within this player, tot allow the Android App to play).
It seems that the application has froze inside the Android App Player and as a result any other android apps will not be able to play because the application is frozen. Try rebooting the playbook and see if you can access the apps after that time.
To delete an app in the playbook:
You have 2 options to delete this application.
Option 1 - BlackBerry App World
Goto your App World, under My World it will show you all your Installed applications. Goto the App and click the Delete button.
Option 2 - Home Screen
On the home screen, hold your finger on the touch screen until you see Trash Cans appear over certain applications. This means you playbook is in edit mode. You should be able to click the trash can to the corresponding application.

Status List Web Part corrupting other Web Parts!!

Hello,
I am using the Project Site Template and have observed a very strange behavior when I add a Status List (with status indicators) to the overall "Home" page: It seems to be corrupting other web parts located on the same page. I.e. the
timeline is suddenly displayed twice and the newsfeed has no entries anymore.
Has anyone got experience with this?? I couldn't find anything similar here!

According to your description, my understanding is that the status list web parts in your page only load completely for the first one.
I made a test in my SharePoint 2013 environment, and the status list web part can all load properly in the page.
Did your environment install the latest CU updates ?
I suggest you can install the latest CU updates and test if it works.

A question for experts:
In the context of earlier serious corruption of my iMac (now cured) unconected with this utility, here is part of a conversation wirh a Mac software company whose site states that its product is not yet fully compatible with M.Lion:
Question: "How convinced are you that if I avoid the problem area, Snapz Pro X (Movie) will not corrupt my Mac?"
Answer: "I am convinced because software does not work that way. Everything is in its own little space. Just don't install the the AmbrosiaAudioSupport kernel extension (KEXT) and you won't have a problem."
I know that the Mac's OS has for some time had a feature whereby each program lives in its own area, protected from interference from other programs. But does this mean:
That the code for every (eg., application or utility) program is protected from corruption in another program;
Or that the whole OS is protected in that way?;
Or both?
The answer I got seems rather idealistic. Is it?

If that program isn't supported, don't install it. In Mountain Lion, Apple included sandboxing, and every app works so that doesn't affect to the other applications. The kext is an extension, and a problem with that can freeze Mountain Lion or that appears a kernel panic.
Apple has got all of their apps sandboxed, the same for the App Store. You can install Lion if you need the program

Ipod120gb unable 2restore not recognized in itunes & corrupt "other"=100gb

This is weird - I have a ipod classic 120 gb all was well was buying and synching as usual when the next day my ipod was no longer showing on the Itunes panel when connected as if it was no longer being recognized and also on looking at my ipod suddenley 100gb of "other" had appeared and my ipod is full it did that only the day before. I did used to have only 22gb of music on as it is now full of what I don't know. I want to restore but i cannot because its not recognized. what could be the problem. I have tried new cables and my other ipod shuffle works just fine.
I work on windows 7 toshiba satellite. I have all the current instal for itunes. could that be the problem i only justinstalled the new version of itunes
Help please I do not want to lose my music it took so long to put on itunes. All purcheses have been made through Itunes could there be a corrupt file that cause 100gb of other to appear

Oracle forms 4.5 corrupting others forms versions

Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle 6i and Oracle 10g forms and reports.
After installing Oracle Forms 4,5 when i try to open Oracle 6i or 10g forms i am getting the error
Message file \ORANT\DBS\FMCUS.MSB not found.
but the file is avaialble in the mentioned location.
Please suggest the Fix.

The only way to install Developer 2000 (Forms 4.5) and any other version of Developer on your computer is to install Dev2K first. Dev2K does not recognize the Oracle Homes technology so it will install, by default, into the Oracle DEFAULT HOME. In you case, unfortunately, this means you will have to uninstall and remove all traces of all installed Oracle products (this includes the Windows Registry) and then reinstall. As a rule of thumb, you should always try to install Oracle products from "Oldest" to "Newest". Developer Suite 5 and above supports Oracle Homes technology, so once you have installed Dev2K, install Developer 6i. Make sure you change the Dev 6i HOME during setup or will have the same problem you have now.

Create new VM cause corrupting other existing VM

Anyone facing this problem before? I was created 1 VM (win2003) and running in OracleVM Server, and then i creating another new VM. During I creating the new VM the old VM(win2003) become unaccessable, even i trying to ping to the IP address of the VM it also no reply.
How to solve this problem?

and vnc to that port,
vncviewer <host server>:<the port from above command>
if this failed, simply
xm destroy <existing domain>
for the status error, currently only the hardway, modify from the database. if you got db access, have a peek at table ovs_vm_img.

Nearly all images suddenly turned corrupt - please help me

I am working on a very important document, a kind of a final assignment which will help me pass my last year of school. I had about 22 pages done when I had to restart my computer because it suddenly seemed to be getting really slow. After I restarted it and reopened my pages document, most of the pictures on the pages I worked on today were gone and instead replaced by those grey blocks with a question mark in it, and some of them just left their "mask" at the place where they used to be. The pages I worked on the other day remained the same.
Now that wouldn't be as much of a problem if I would be able to once again replace the grey blocks with the pictures that used to be in there. But trying to do this, pages tells me that the file is corrupt - other pictures still work, but pictures that used to be in those spots suddenly seem to be corrupt. However, I can still use them in other programs such as preview, word and so on...
I'm in desperate need of help and I would be very glad if somebody would know a solution to my problem.

I did find the pictures stored in this folder. They are just fine... what do you mean with XML and is there something I can do to restore it and get it back to normal?
I found out that if I open a new pages document and add a blank page as its first page, then copy all of the pictures that disappeared in the original document on this page, then copy the pages of the old document under the blank page with all the pictures, those pictures reappear on those pages.
Kind of confusing :P I hope you understand what I'm trying to describe here...

Corrupted photobook.Or is it the library?

Problem: have made photobook (100 pages) however, every time i open it to edit it, a number of photos disappear, font style changes, sometimes coloured blocks appear where a photo used to be or photosize shrinks does not even fit the set size box. i have "finished" it 3 times and redo it only to reopen it and find it has again gone barmy.
History: have amassed an enormous photo library over the years, decided it was necessary to migrate it to an external drive as I had not enough space on my computer to do anything let alone edit movies.
I recently purchased Aperture (which I am hating) and have tried to import the iphoto library into the aperture library.
Tried: rebuilding iphoto library
Suspicion: iphoto library is corrupted
Other stuff: Am using iphoto v9.2.3 running on Mac OS X v10.6.8 on a desktop mac with 2.4GHz intel core 2 duo, 21.4 GB left of usable space. Its a few years old. i have time machine on an external drive but have not been able to restore the iphoto library as it won't let me go back to a previous date. Probably is another way of doing it for the more technically savvy...
Also, I have another photobook which is half finished which I can not open, it crashes the whole iphoto (arrrgh!!!!).
Can anyone suggest miraculous recovery of my many hours of work?

If the Library has spent time on the FAT disk then this could have caused the corruption you're experiencing.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Movie download gone bad, now I'm stuck with 4,4 Gb of "other" Stuff - what to do?

So, I rented a movie from iTunes on my iPad 3. After watching the movie, I deleted the file and thought that everything was fine, however the download was still active in iTunes. As apple don't want you to remove active downloads from iTunes I couldn't do anything about it and didn't think further of it. But then today the download was gone but suddenly, I got an error message stating that the download of the same movie (which I haven't re-rented) could not be completed because of insufficient memory on my iPad.
I found that I only had 1,2 Gb left even though I should have 5,7 Gb. The movie wasn't really deleted, it just deleted the entry and now it is taking up space as "Other" in memory and I can't get rid of the data. I experienced the exact same problem about a month ago with another movie and had to do a factory reset in order to restore the memory. This takes oceans of time and I can't do it right now. Furthermore it simply can't be true that I have to do a factory reset each time i Rent a movie! If that is the case, it is definitely the last time I will have rented a movie through iTuneson any device - it simply isn't worth the hazzle!
Anyway, to the question: Does anyone know of a way to remove corrupted "Other" data short of wiping the device?

You can try the basic troubleshooting steps. But if they don't work, you know what you have to resort to already.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Video> look for the movie in there. If it is in there form whatever reason - delete it. Swipe across It in the list or use the edit button.
Sometimes just a simple sync can help, but you make it sound like you are not near your computer, so I don't know if that is an option for you right now.

File names corrupting over SMB

Hi,
I have a 10.4.10 server sharing files over SMB but any files with punctuation in them ( . / @ ) corrupt when viewed from a Client machine - looking at the original files on the server itself shows no problem.
I am unable to use AFP to share these files due to Permissions issues with Office 2004 docs where AFP allows simultaneous full read & write access to two or more Users.
Is there a way to prevent this file name corruption other than renaming all the relevant files by hand?

After installing an application that was created using the Application Builder

After installing an application that I created using the Application Builder I get this error if I try to run " ANY " LabVIEW App's that I have built. "Executable Version 7.1.1 doesn't match Resource File 7.1. Check your configuration."
The way that I tried to fix this is to reload LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 8.0. I am using two NI-6528 switch cards.
After I reload LabVIEW and DAQmx I can run my applications but as soon as I install one on this development machine the error begins again.
The executable that I built works fine on the development machine and any other machine that I try it on but it appears that the Run-Time engine 7.1 becomes corrupt after I run setup.exe for the newly created application.
I have built numerous Installers, setup.exe's in the past without this error. Just this latest one caused this problem to start.
I can NOT upgrade to 7.1.1. I am doing work for many different sections of this factory and I can not force them to upgrade. I've asked. Others supply code for the same machines using LabVIEW 7.1.
I am stuck creating executables and manualing moving the correct files to the target machines.

No. The KB article was talking about a machine with 7.1.1 installed. I have LabVIEW 7.1 installed.
The machine that I am having trouble with is my development machine. LabVIEW 7.1, DAQmx 8.0.
If I build the executable all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
If I create the installer all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
When I install the app on my development machine the corruption occurs. I can " NOT " run old executables including the one I just built. The subject error pops up.
I have not moved any executables to the other machines yet. I don't want to corrupt others.

ICloud password questions

My Mac asks iCloud password since some days every time I open Mac Mail. How can I stop it?
Yesterday the Internet connection (Safari) got stucked, I had to close the MacBook by using the start button.
When I opened iCloud settings without internet connection, the question popped on the screen again.
I took away the Find my Mac setting from the list, and thereafter the internet worked normally.
However, this morning, the Mail asked again iCloud password. I allways ignore it.
I noticed inDaily Mail Online, that there were cases in Australia, where peolple got thei Mac stucked and had to pay ransom.
It was supposed that this was connected to Find My Mac settings in iCloud.

You're looking at three different and unrelated problems:
Mail asking for iCloud password
Safari crashing/not responding
Ransom requests
1. This has been a problem discussed here months ago. Several solutions were offered. The one I used was to delete my Apple account info in Mail and set it up manually. That simply forced Mail to re-write the old, corrupted plist with the correct info.
2. Use the "Force Quit..." item under the 'Apple' menu to see if an app is "Not Responding" or simply busy. If "Not Responding", select (highlight) it and use the "Force Quit" button. Avoid the Power button shut down method as you may end up corrupting other things that may be accessing the hard drives.
3. There is already a huge thread on this topic (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6270410?start=375&tstart=0). So far, there is no reliable evidence that it is related to 'Find My Mac' at all. The ransom requests are all related to mobile devices (iPhones, iPads, etc.).

1)this you can check from your old backup size.add a little to it and that is your backup space requirement.
2)if space is not there then failed backup is corrupt.other old backups remain intect.
3)you need to shutdown database for copying folder or put data files in backup mode(id archivelogs are enable on database).
4)you can check original database files dba_data_files,v$controlfile views and as point 3 is valid on them if you using copy paste rather then RMAN.

[abandoned]gtk-theme-plastiq+bitmapfont crashes everything[abandoned]

I've had issues over the last 7-10 days where certain apps that were using bitmap fonts would just crash randomly, sometimes even giving me NVRM errors. This was everything from my terminal, to my web browser, to smplayer. I use openbox with nvidia drivers, and I started up a different WM to change the font to something else, and now the problem seems to be cured. Any time I use lxappearance to try and change back to a bitmap font though, the lxappearance window just instantly stops responding with no error message given. Nothing has really changed to my knowledge on my machine recently that should affect this besides upgrading lxappearance to version 0.5.2-1, but I don't see why that would cause problems with other apps that are using bitmap fonts. Is anyone else experiencing something similar?
Edit: I was looking through pacman.log and noticed there was also an nvidia driver update and a GTK3 update. This could quite possibly have something to do with it as well. The GTK3 update however was 15 days ago and I don't think the problem has been going on that long.

Well, as far as I can tell, this is some kind of problem with the plastiq theme and the way it interracts with gtk-engine-unico/murrine. I had to create a new user and move some files over and just start using a different theme/user to fix it. Something about it corrupted other themes or something on my old user. On my new user, the plastiq theme still causes crashes but all the other ones I had issues with on my old user work fine. It's too bad, I really liked that theme. But I've been using it for over a year now and it's time for some change anyways! Editing the title and marking as abandoned.
