  • App Error 523 - Multiple incidents! Please Help!

I have an 8330 on Verizon and about 2 weeks ago, I received the "app error: 523". I tried remove applications and rebooting it but none of it worked because i couldn't to the phone. I couldn't even back up my data and contacts. I was forced to enter the password incorrectly and wipe everything off my phone. I then reinstalled the OS and everything was fine. I just recently started to get my contacts and everything back but when I rebooted it tonight, I received message again. This is very frustrating! I dont have many apps at all (Google maps, google talk, facebook, etc.) Can someone please give me some insight? Is this something I'm always going to have to deal with? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • App error 523 reset... PLEASE HELP!!!!

First I lost my camera app. Then I started getting the message:APP ERROR 523. RESET.
    Help needed.

    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
    or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php
If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
    KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
    and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371

  • Re: app error 523 reset... PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi! Ok, i am totally lost!  My blackberry pearl 8100 stoped living as of this morning at 8 a.m.  I has a white screen with the same message as yours did, "app error 523 reset"  No matter how many times i hit reset, it doesnt RESET!  I have been off work since 6 and online looking for solutions.  I read what the guy told you about yours, but i dont think i understand.  I purchased my bb from someone, and i dont have anything on my desktop manager as some websites say.  I do have the usb that came with the phone.  Please help me if you can.  I cannot afford another cell at this moment and i really like the one i have now.  I have also tried the holding down the alt cap del button; NOTHING.  I JUST WANT MY PHONE BACK.  PLEASE!  SOS!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
(FYI - we had this split off of a closed thread so that it could receive proper attention...)
First, you need to take the red out of your posts...please.
Second, you need to do the following:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything. If you have never installed the Desktop Software to your PC, then skip steps 1 and 2.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
OK...next, follow this KB (including the other links within the KB) for recovery from the 523 error:
KB11816 Error "523 app.error.Reset" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

  • APP ERROR 523 please help!!!

Can someone please help me!! my blackberry loads and then gets to a white screen saying app error 523 and then turns off can anyone help me fix this via a mac computer?

If you don't know the password you're going to lose the data on the device anyway.  I'd do the following:
    1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    2. Download the OS file from step 1 to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    3. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Also check the following locations for vendor.xml files and delete any instances of the file:
On Windows Vista/7 navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
On Windows XP navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
    5. Use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to next step.
    6. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

  • Please help app error 523

ive got a bb pearl 9105 and everytime i turn it on its come up with error messages then comes up with a white screen that says error 523. i cant plug it into my comp as the charge port is broken and cant get rid of the error messages to activate the bluetooth.
anyone could any ideas?? ive tried reseting it, taking battery, sim, memory card out and nothings doing the trick...please help...

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here is a KB that discusses that error:
KB24395 "Error 523", "App Error 523", or "JVM 523" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone
Unfortunately, the actual remedy may well require connection to your computer...but with the port broken, that won't be possible. So you won't be able to fix this without seeking formal hardware-level support.
If you remain in warranty, you should seek out support via that channel. If you have no warranty, then you would seek out a local (to you) shop with qualified BB hardware technicians who can give you a proper diagnosis and estimate.
Good luck and let us know!

  • HELP!!! app error 523

I am so bummed.  Curve 8330, the hourglass had been hanging more and more.  Have used the "control-al t-delete" to reset.  Well it has finally gotten to the point that the hourglass is constant.  I can't do anything, resetting doesn't fix it.  Now I have a white screen with "app error 523" and reset option.  Reset doesn't work.  I've tried to do what I found on the main blackberry site to reinstall my operating system, but my computer doesn't even recognize my device and won't connect.  I am at a total loss as to what to do.  Does anyone know how I can fix this thing?  I'm so upset as this is my only phone and its not even 2 years old.

There are some instances where (due to the nature of the error) your pin does not display in desktop manager. Try and reload via application loader, or you can click on the "PIN" link and see if you can manually find the PIN. IF not. With it connected, go into 'My computer' and see if it is listed in 'Devices with removable storage'. If it is not there either, it could be a driver issue.

  • "App Error 523" on White Screen

I have plugged my phone into the charger after it had fully ran out of battery, only to watch the handset turn on and inform me of 4 text messages and 20 missed calls seconds before the white screen with the messaged "App Error 523" appears.
After choosing to reset the same happens only the amount of missed calls has went up by 4. I have tried on various occasions throughout the day and it just keeps addin 4 calls each time before returning to the white screen.
I have searched the Forums already and do not use Desktop Manager, therefore have no current back up.
Can you suggest how I remedy this quickly without a full factory reset losing all the information as it is a works phone?
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Neil

Ok, don't get ahead of me and do something you will regret first, like losing your contacts.
FIRST, make sure you have the Desktop Software installed, and backup.
    Make sure the backup completes.
Watch where you save the backup file ("somename.ipd" will be the file format, most likely with today's date on it.
Once you are sure you have backed up, then you want to wipe the device and reload the operating system.
You will lose all third party applications, but those can be re-downloaded from the original source.
You will need to use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F
For BBSAK, here is the link: http://bbsak.org/

  • Unique App Error 523 problem

    I have a BB 8350i
I installed no new themes or applications and the device was sitting idle and locked.  I pressed a button to check the screen and noticed it first told me "Uncaught Exception Index 37 >=37" and then goes to white screen with "App Error 523 / Reset"  I tried removing battery, and pressing reset many, many times to no avail.
Now though, when it tries to boot up after reset, I hear my ringtone sound for incoming text message (same ringtone for BB messenger notification, and voicemail) and still goes through the same loop with the uncaught exception and ends ath the app error.
I've tried hooking the device up to my desktop manager but once the device gets into the error messages, my dm software says it can't connect and freezes..
I last performed a backup of my device about 2 weeks ago but I'd still really prefer not to have to wipe out my data.
Unless I'm mistaken, I understand that I can either wipe out the device somehow (don't know how) and start from scratch with my backup file and hope it works, or replace the device if I can.. ?  Am I right and what is the best way to fix this?
I tried researching on my own on the internet but couldn't find any other reported problems combining the Index 37 error with the App Error.

Sometimes when you download stuff like themes, apps, even updates to yahoo msgr it causes that error code (someone told me its a corrupted file), I had it happen weeks after the update I did. I think BB App World even caused it for me once. I have about 200 phones and this comes up from time to time, if you get that message you have no choice but to wipe, re-install the software, and then use your backup to reset your info (I've tried avoiding it but you really can't). If you really didn't download anything or update anything then I'm not sure what caused it, I just know how to fix it.
I use JL_Cmder to wipe my devices and then hook the device up to BB desktop mgr and it will tell you that you need an update to your software and will install the newest version of your software for you, then you go back and do a restore.
Make sure your BB desktop mgr is the most current version. I don't know the link to get JL_Cmder, it's all over these forums and on the internet too if you do a search. If you don't like JL_Cmder try BBSAK. BTW, you found a great place for help, I've learned tons from the people here and now everyone at work and of course my friends think I know everything about BB...really I just come on here and do a search.

Greetings, and welcome to the forums!
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run, then copy and paste the following line exactly (that means WITH the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection" drop-down menu you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed to your Blackberry. Hit 'Next' and 'Finish'. DO NOT disconnect anything and let the entire process finish completely (may take up to one hour).
NOTE: If you don't see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you'll need to download Blackberry's Operating System for your particular carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network, then select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download to your PC and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

I'm just upgraded to the 470_b059_multilanguage.exe BlackBerry Desktop SW 4.7 and, after step 9, on step 10 waiting for device comes again (can't remember the name of the step) on my device appears the "App Error 523", even after the battery pulled out. Please HELP me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

installing desktop software does not reinstall software to your device. you shouldnt have even needed to have your device plugged in to install desktop software. you would have to install desktop maanger, plug your device in, install device software to windows, open desktop manager, use either the update option, or application loader option to install the device software to your BB.
and during this installation it went bad. and previous poster was correct... you need to reinstall
    close DTM
    goto control panel- add/remove progs
check for bbdesktop manager 4.7 and see if there is any other bb program installed... this will be your device software... im hoping its 4.5.x.x
dont uninstall anything here, just for informational purposes, close add/remove progs and control panel
open my computer and go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    open the program loader.exe
remove your battery.. and run the  wizard, till its complete
you will get a multistage error, close wizard
put battery in and wait till it boots to a 507 error
    run loader.exe again

  • App error 523 message plz

    Hi
a little bit of water go to the keyboard and the phone give me this massage app error 523
    what should I do ?
I need the the information inside the phone
    plz help me
I tried to connect the phone with the laptop but no respond??

After you have completed what is in the prior message, you can proceed with attempting to recover:
KB11816 Error "523 app.error.Reset" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone
BTW -- steel yourself for the fact that it is likely that all of your data on your BB is already lost...but you might get lucky...you won't know until you complete the steps in the prior post. But in all likelihood all is lost and your recovery will be via the steps in this post and linked KB. If you happen to have ever taken a backup of your device, then you can recover to that point using this procedure:
KB10339 How to restore data from a backup file to a BlackBerry smartphone
You might have to search your entire hard drive for files with an IPD extension (*.IPD). When you find any, check the date/time of the files...the most recent one is your best candidate for restoring from.
If you have been syncing your BB with your desktop PIM (e.g., Outlook), then all of your data is there and you will be able to re-synch after you've reinstalled your device OS.
If you have no backup and no desktop PIM, then all is lost.
    Best.
