App error 602 stuck in loop

My Curve 9360 has been freezing alot recently so I decided to check for software updates - there were plenty - but now I'm stuck.
I've completed the backup and install process but the phone won't reboot. Each time it tries I get "App Error 602". I've tried the sofy and hard reset but I'm stuck in the cycle and my phone will not turn on!!
Help please!!

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, if it will run stable, you might be able to conduct other activities.

  • App Error 602 & "Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_messaging_app(144) is not responding; process terminated"

    Hi,
I have spent a whole and very frustrating day trying to solve the following problem and in exasperation I resort to a posting here. Note no changes had been made to the phone prior to the start of the problem.
My Blackberry 9800 Torch freezes on power-up. It can only be ‘unfrozen’ by taking out the battery or, if left alone, after many minutes it comes up with the white screen, ‘App Error 602' and ‘Reset’ which is highlighted. Resetting has the same effect as taking out the battery. After each restart, it goes through the usual security and time checks and then freezes again. However, on rare occasions I got the message “Uncaught exception: Application net_rim_bb_messaging_app(144) is not responding; process terminated”.
Soon after the restart, after the Security Software Verification and on confirming the time/date, there is a very small window of opportunity (literally a couple of seconds) to access the phone. After much trial and error, I discovered that (in Manage Connections) by disabling the Mobile Network and WiFi - effectively putting it into ‘aeroplane mode’ - the device would work, without any problem and indefinitely. Except, of course, I couldn’t access the phone network nor the internet, which isn’t helpful(!).
I have taken this opportunity to do a full back-up on to my PC, through BlackBerry Desktop Software (though I’m not sure this backs up downloaded Apps??). Separately, I've also copied all the subdirectories from the phone’s memory and media card on to the PC, retaining their correct structures (but presumably also copying the corruption causing the problem?).
    Any ideas???
    - thanks in advance!

The method you are attempting is the automatic method...sometimes it just doesn't work, and you must take control. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Help! Torch broken down from nowhere. App Error 602.

So today my phone was working fine as it always has, I decided to remove some programs I don't need. I removed Google Talk and AOL Messenger and pressed yes to reboot as it needed to. Phone powered off, powered back on again and did the black Blackberry screen with scrolling white loading bar. It gets to the end of it and instead of booting my phone it presents me with a white screen with App Error 602 on it with Reset underneath, I press Reset and the phone powers off, on, black Blackberry screen with scrolling white loading bar and then goes back to App Error 602, Reset.
I cannot get it to start, I need it working urgently, the only Blackberry Support page suggests they don't know what the problem is, and advises me to reset to software on the phone. The only problem is BDM 4.7 will not connect to the device because it can't boot!
It comes up with Blackberry Torch 9800 but every single option is greyed out. In the bottom right it displays 'Connecting' with a circling green symbol but nothing ever happens. Please can anyone be of assistance.
    Regards.

Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.

    Hello kagwah
    Welcome to BlackBerry Support Forums
Try this Knowledge Base to recover your device from this error :
KB10144  : How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
No one can specifically say the cause of this error , if this error appeared after installing any application then you  need to be careful and don't install any unknown app , but sometime those error may appear without any reason , those are Java errors in which a user can't do anything .So the most important thing is that we should do a regular backup of our device , as in your situation , while following this KB to recover your device  you will loose all data within your device. I hope you have a previous backup from which you can restore .

    Hi there,
I have been using a BlackBerry Curve 9220 since a year now. I earlier had a problem with my BBM when i upgraded to the recent software and faced Application Error 603. After a while the issue subsided but now it has come up with Application Error 602. I have deleted my BBM application now but still the problem is constant. I feel terrible without my BlackBerry.

  • App error 523 reset (loop);

Hi! i've got my BBCurve 8520 giving an "app error 523 rest" message everytime i try to switch on..and it gets into a loop with the above message appearing each time at reboot..
tried the app loader but since the device cannot connect to the computer, not able to get the updation of software done... could anybody help me please!!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Greetings, and welcome to the forums!
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run, then copy and paste the following line exactly (that means WITH the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection" drop-down menu you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed to your Blackberry. Hit 'Next' and 'Finish'. DO NOT disconnect anything and let the entire process finish completely (may take up to one hour).
NOTE: If you don't see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you'll need to download Blackberry's Operating System for your particular carrier and device.
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/BlackBerry_Operating_System_Downloads
Just select the appropriate carrier and network, then select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download to your PC and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

  • Orignaly App error 606...help

    Device info.
Im with 3, however i did not receive the handset from them. Its a Blackberry torch 9810.
I Assume it was/is running the newest OS, but at this time i cant turn the device on to check.
My desktop software version is 7.1.0.37.
    Issue.
My phone a couple of days ago was unexpectedly turned of. When i tried to turn the device back on, it took a long time getting half way through the OS booting loading screen, crashing and starting again. Eventually it got past the loading screen and showed me the app error 606 screen.
Now all the phone does when trying to boot up is get stuck in a loop of the blackberry loading screen, crashes after about 20 seconds, then starts again when the red light comes on. When attempting to connect to the computer using blackberry to usb wire, to reload the OS, it stays contended for about 20 seconds, the same time the phone keeps crashing. It just keep losing power, even though Ive been charing it for a while.
    Ive tried following Knowledge base
-KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
-KB20371 BlackBerry Desktop Manager cannot communicate with the connected BlackBerry device
I know i have to reload the OS, however first i need to make sure the blackberry stays connected.
In Knowledge base KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader i get stuck on the step where blackberry software can not communicate with the connected device, either click Retry, Update or Cancel, when i click update, then repair, it just says there are no updates available, and a form below where you can enter your email address. Does not repair the phone at all. Is it supposed to open the application loader? I think this is all to do with the fact the phone keeps switching on then off, when either charging or trying to connect to the computer.
Might just be me being an **bleep**. But am i missing something? Ive read a million threads to do with the app error 606, Ive tried for about 2 days now to get a proper connection to the computer, or even just to see the app error screen again. Just always gets stuck on the black berry loading screen.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried wiping the device completely?  You can skip to step number 5 if you want and see if BBSAK will connect and wipe the device.  Then you'll need to come back to step number 3 (you can skip the backup since you can't make a backup at this point.)  Another trick is to remove the battery and attempt to connect to the device.
    1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    2. It doesn't hurt to do a manual backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion and unplug BlackBerry. You can get BlackBerry Desktop Software here http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    3. Download the OS file from step 1 to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Also check the following locations for vendor.xml files and delete any instances of the file:
On Windows Vista/7 navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
On Windows XP navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (Where "YOUR_USER" is your username)
    5. If you're simply updating the OS to a newer version skip this step. If doing a clean OS reload use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to next step.
    6. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    1. Please thank those who help you by clicking the "Like" button at the bottom of the post that helped you.
    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Unique App Error 523 problem

    I have a BB 8350i
I installed no new themes or applications and the device was sitting idle and locked.  I pressed a button to check the screen and noticed it first told me "Uncaught Exception Index 37 >=37" and then goes to white screen with "App Error 523 / Reset"  I tried removing battery, and pressing reset many, many times to no avail.
Now though, when it tries to boot up after reset, I hear my ringtone sound for incoming text message (same ringtone for BB messenger notification, and voicemail) and still goes through the same loop with the uncaught exception and ends ath the app error.
I've tried hooking the device up to my desktop manager but once the device gets into the error messages, my dm software says it can't connect and freezes..
I last performed a backup of my device about 2 weeks ago but I'd still really prefer not to have to wipe out my data.
Unless I'm mistaken, I understand that I can either wipe out the device somehow (don't know how) and start from scratch with my backup file and hope it works, or replace the device if I can.. ?  Am I right and what is the best way to fix this?
I tried researching on my own on the internet but couldn't find any other reported problems combining the Index 37 error with the App Error.

Sometimes when you download stuff like themes, apps, even updates to yahoo msgr it causes that error code (someone told me its a corrupted file), I had it happen weeks after the update I did. I think BB App World even caused it for me once. I have about 200 phones and this comes up from time to time, if you get that message you have no choice but to wipe, re-install the software, and then use your backup to reset your info (I've tried avoiding it but you really can't). If you really didn't download anything or update anything then I'm not sure what caused it, I just know how to fix it.
I use JL_Cmder to wipe my devices and then hook the device up to BB desktop mgr and it will tell you that you need an update to your software and will install the newest version of your software for you, then you go back and do a restore.
Make sure your BB desktop mgr is the most current version. I don't know the link to get JL_Cmder, it's all over these forums and on the internet too if you do a search. If you don't like JL_Cmder try BBSAK. BTW, you found a great place for help, I've learned tons from the people here and now everyone at work and of course my friends think I know everything about BB...really I just come on here and do a search.
    Happy Berrying!

  • Internal App Error when restoring through BB Link

My entire problem started a week ago when my android runtime quit randomly one day and would not load any android app. They would initialize (black screen with loading blue bar at the bottom) but would never fully load or would quit during the loading process. I waited on one app to load for over 8 hours and the bar never moved past about 75%. I found zero helpful posts on any forum on the internet, besides wiping the phone and doing a fresh install. This brings me to the BB link part...
I had a recent backup so I figured a wipe and a restore from backup might get my phone working correctly again. I wiped the phone, and started the restore. The restore gets to 74% and errors out saying "Internal app error" and cancells the restore process. It corectly restores the settings and media but never the app portion. After all this, the android runtime is still not working! I use all of the android apps on my phone and I need this android player to work. I've tried installing apk's for the apps I need as well and they get stuck in the "processing" screen.
    Anybody have any suggestions?
I am running the latest BB Link for Mac and running the latest official 10.2.1 from Verizon.

Well seems like the first issue was caused by one or more Android Apps and the Backup issue also so you might never be able to restore that Backup fully.
However since Setting and Media were restored but not the Apps and you cannot install any Androids there is still something in that backup causing this issue.
It is your choice but I suggest you wipe your phone and do not use the backup, then you will have to do all your settings manually and lose the Media unless you backed up the Media with BB Device Manager.

  • App error 285 - reset

wasdownloading from Blackberry desktop yesterday, download was interupted and phone is now stuck with message " app error 285 reset. when trying to access via desktop software it shows as connecting - never connected. so cant use phone. would appreciate any advice

    Hello,
As per your problem, I would suggest you to make POWER Re start.
Take out your battery, fix it in, and wait for your BlackBerry Smartphone to restart.
Once done, then first connect your device with USB cable to your desktop.
    Now open "BlackBerry Desktop Software".
    Hope this resolves your Problem!
If your problem has been resolved then would request you to Click on "Like" and accept as "Solution" so that other Advisors doesnt invest there time on this Message anymore.
    Thanks.
