App failed t download, suggests itunes, then disappears

So, I downloaded a fairly large Korean English dictionary on my ipod touch (655 MB) I did it over wifi. After it finished it asked for the password again and then proceeded to fully download the entire thing again. However, after that it was fine and worked fine. My Korean friend just purchased the same dictionary on her Iphone. We were downloading it via wifi, when we lost the wifi. So it was paused. Later we got some more reliable wifi and instead it was insisting that it should be downloaded via itunes. We hit retry but it kept saying it. It was definitely on wifi and not 3G. So I hit okay, and it just removed the app from her page.
1. Was she charged for this app? She hasn't gotten an email receipt yet, but those sometimes take a few days to show up.
2. If she was charged, how can one go about downloading it again in itunes without being charged? I checked the appstore on her phone and the only option was to buy again, it didn't seem to indicate that she already owned it. I've never deleted an app I've paid for so I'm not sure what it should look like if you're looking at an app you've already paid for.

1) Look at your purchase history to see.
2) Go to itunes and click Store>Check for available downloads if this doesn't work, then:

  • File will download in iTunes, then disappear (completely) on Mac (Win works!)

I am a university professor trying to get students into using iTunesU but a mess arises.
MIT's linear algebra is a fine course but on Mac (10.6) with iTunes (10.4) one lecture (LU decomposition) will download fine and then disappears forever. I checked the iTunes folders in $HOME (unix lingo for /Users/name), $HOME/Music, checked elsewhere (went to the root (aka /) and did a find ./ -name *filename* and nothing turns up. I downloaded again and went to the download directory. I see the file growing to proper size and then it simply is gone. It is not transferred properly. I tried ps -aef and saw nothing (but it may go too fast). There is nothing in the bin either.
This happens in several courses, not only MIT. Other lectures in the same directory go flawless.
Issue is a Mac 10.6 / iTunes 10.4 thing. It runs fine on a Windows machine and I can download to my iPhone from wireless at home.
Second, and related issue. Many students have iPads, iPhones, iPods. They're excellent to store some iTunesU lectures but it seems that once transferred to the iPhone from internet, there is no way to delete the files (or transfer them to Mac) !?
    Thanks for the help !
    Patrick

Just adding my voice to this problem. I've watched iTunes try and download the same iTunes U video file about ten times and every time it completes the iTunes U list just resets and lists it as being available to download. Trying to play it straight from the downloads list has no effect.
I've tried signing in but this one particular file still refuses to download. Even deleting everything in the iTunes temporary download location and checking the permissions of that folder it is still giving me problems.
While I've been able to successfully download a couple of other videos, the one I actually want to watch refuses to work. I am desperate for help here. I've made a genius bar appointment because I have run out of ideas here.

  • I have problem in mac store when i try to download app i get note (( app failed to download use the purchases page to try again ))

i have problem in mac store when i try to download app i get note (( app failed to download use the purchases page to try again ))
i try to downlod twitter and ccleaner but i can't open the app  ?!?!!!

It can also be an iTunes issue. Many of us, including myself, are not used to the new interface of iTunes 11 and would find ways to downgrade the available iTunes 11 back to iTunes 10.7 in Mac OS Mavericks. The only issue with downgrading (using AppZapper and Pacifist) is that you will not be able to update/install apps from the App Store after rebooting the Mac.
If you happen to have downgraded your iTunes in this method, then uninstall the iTunes 10.7 and reinstall iTunes 11 again - the App Store should resume its download/update function without any issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apps fail to download from app store

I am having trouble downloading or updating several apps from the App Store. I get the error message, " ...app failed to download. Use the Purchases page to try again." Gets caught in that cycle.
    I'm on 10.9.5, 2012 MacBook Pro.
Gatekeeper settings ar correct, and I've disabled Sophos virus protection.  I've checked other community support answers, have not come up with anything that works.
My Apple ID login is correct and confirmed. No problems downloading and installing system updates.
I've also tried downloading as a new user (with the same apple ID).

I have no idea how my reply could be "misleading". I stated the exact situation: there are millions of apps in the iTunes Store, and providing a comprehensive, accurate list of which apps support which version(s) of iOS would be highly impractical. You can perhaps help with your search by going to AppShopper:
    http://appshopper.com/search/?search=iOS+3
That will give you at least some starting points, but AppShopper is neither comprehensive nor completely accurate. I've found a number of apps listed there over the time the site has existed that either are no longer offered or which have been updated beyond the iOS version indicated. But it might help.
    Regards.

  • Why does my ipod touch show up in iTunes then disappear?

Why does my ipod touch show up in iTunes then disappear?  The computer seems to recognize it as a camera device, rather than a mass storage device.  Does this have anything to do with the problem?  When plugged in, a window pops up asking which photo program you'd like to use, and if you cancel, that's it.  Even if you try to open a photo program, and download your photos off of the ipod, it still won't show up in itunes.

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:
iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date

  • Why can't i access my Apps that I downloaded through iTunes. I believe I'm doing something wrong and not that the issue is iTunes itself

Occasionally ill try downloading an App through my Macbook Pro 13.5 & it directs me to iTunes to be downloaded. So, I go to iTunes and download the App I need. For instance, Amazon. I go into 'My Apps' in iTunes and try clicking on one of my DL Apps, but nothing happens. Why can't I access the Apps, which I downloaded through iTunes.?I believe I'm doing something wrong and not that the issue is iTunes itself.  I have OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. I am due for an upgrade from that software and also an upgrade for iTunes as well, but that shouldn't be the problem. I've tried everything on my end to troubleshoot. I don't really have the time during the day to call in and troubleshoot, so thats why I'm asking the community. Please help with this problem if anyone can. Thank You!

Once you download an iOS app, you cannot run that app from the computer. That can only be run from an iOS device. You cannot download Mac Apps from the iTunes App Store, those are downloaded from the Mac App Store. Two different places. If you want a Mac app that will run on your Mac, you need to download that from the Mac App Store. iTunes App Store only has iOS apps that work on iOS devices, iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

  • Apps no longer install from iTunes and disappear from home screen

Everything went fine until a few days ago, with no change I can discern, apps no longer installed from iTunes. They did install when I deleted them in iTunes, synced, then installed from the Touch. Now even that is failing unless I reset settings on the Touch after every install session. Resets make these apps appear but I have to do it all over again to install new apps and, again, only from the Touch. I
've reset in iTunes twice to a brand new iPod. Have tried installing one app at a time and can't find a culprit. This is a new development so I'm not inclined to think it's hardware. Can a bad app do this to a second generation Touch three months old running 2.2? I've never been near a jaibreak thing.

If you mean hardware I wonder why it would develop out of nowhere. It's a flash drive, yes? If it's a software problem wouldn't it be fixed by a reset. Remember that apps show up after resetting settings on the touch itself but doing that after every installation is a drag.

  • How can i use the apps i have downloaded on itunes

how can i use the apps i have downloaded on itunes

Apps downloaded through iTunes will only run on iOS devices such as iPhones, iPod Touch, and iPads. Plug your device into your computer, open iTunes, and click on it in the bar either at the top or the left side. Then, click apps at the top, and click install next to the app you want installed.
If you are looking for apps to run on your Mac, you need to download them through the Mac App Store, not through iTunes.

  • HT4009 How can I remove/delete apps I have downloaded in iTunes?

    Hi,
How can I remove/delete apps I have downloadedin iTunes?
I have the Lite versions that I try and then buy the PRO version.
Now all the LITE's are cluttering my account.
Also some of the apps that I downloaded are not required/wanted now. Can I delete them?
    Thanks

You can delete them from your computer's iTunes and/or from your device, but you can't currently permanently delete them from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they are less visible : hiding and unhiding (the ability to hide items directly on a device doesn't appear to work in iOS 6)

  • Family sharing purchased app fails to download (repeatedly)

I'm having trouble with iTunes app purchases with family sharing.
Child #1 purchased an app (a few weeks ago)--not a free app.
Parent (sponsoring user) purchased another app (a couple of years ago)--not a free app.
Both apps support family sharing, according to the itunes store listing.
Child #2 with iTunes 11.4, Mac OS X 10.6.8, trying to download either app, gets the same behavior.
    Click on the purchase button.
Dialog: "Are you sure you want to buy and download "App name here" ?  Your credit card will be charged for this purchase and your app will begin to download immediately.  (unchecked box) Don't ask me about buying iOS apps again.  (cancel) (buy)"
    click "buy"
Next dialog: "A family member has already bought this item.  A family member has already purchased this item.  To download it again for free, select OK.  (cancel) (ok)"
    click "OK"
Next dialog: "Could not purchase "App name here".  The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable.  Please try again later. (OK) "
Help?  This happens every time I try it.  Also happens on the iPod when trying to buy (iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6, PE178LL/A)

  • Synching iLife onto my iPad.  App. is already downloaded to iTunes.

I just bought a new and wonderful iPad but I'm having a few difficulties that I'm sure you can help me with......
Pages, Numbers and Keynote won't load onto my iPad. What do I need to do on my computer or iPad? It's already downloaded from iTunes.
Also, my iCal and Address Book won't load onto iPad either.
Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

    Pages, Numbers and Keynote
Note that these are iWork, not iLife.
Did you download these from the App store in iTunes?
These are compatible with the iWork applications on your computer if you purchased them. They do not come preinstalled with your Mac.
iLife consists of iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, Garage Band and iWeb.
Your items in iCal and Address Book on your Mac are compatible with Contacts and Calendar on your iPad.
    Select the iPad in iTunes.
Click the Info tab across the top.
Select what you want to sync.
When you add/change/delete something on the iPad or on the Mac, these changes will sync back to the iPad/computer.
Also, your signature shows Mac OS 10.4.8.
You need iTunes 10, which requires Mac OS 10.5.8.
update your signature or update your OS.
