App from Apex 4.1 to Apex 4.0 - Error

Hi
how can i import an application made with APEX 4.1 into APEX 4.0? I get an error: "NOT COMPATIBLE (Your export may contain calls not supported by your application version)."
How do i solve this problem?

Sorry to say, you will have to WAIT until APEX 4.1 is released to import your application. Normal practice with APEX is.. a lower version is UP DATABLE to a HIGHER VERSION, a HIGHER VERSION WILL NOT DOWNGRADE TO A LOWER VERSION..
3.2 --> 4.0 Will update no problem
4.1 - > 4.0 Will NOT Downgrade

Open Oracle Forms app from APEX

How can I open an Oracle Forms application from within APEX?
Right now, the Forms app is accessed simply through a Bookmarked hyperlink, so it seems to me I should be able to open a browser window and send it the same url from within APEX. Can someone provide all the details please? Thank You.

I don't know about Oracle Forms specifically... but you should be able to put a link to any arbitrary URL within your Apex application, and have the browser access that URL.
For instance, you can create a button and set that URL as the button's location, or create a Display-Only item with a default value set to a block of HTML including an <a href> tag.

Updated apps from appworld

After downloading updates for apps from appworld, I get a message that says "Error starting (name of app): error loading 'name of app' Verify Error. Is there a way to correct this?

Since apps update automatically on most of our devices it is nice to have that list of recently updated apps. It show you which apps have been updated and when. The older update seem to be deleted after a few weeks.

Converted access app to apex when run get no data found; table does have da

COnverfted MS Access app to apex. WHen I run the appliation I get no data found.
However the table does have data. HOw do I see what is actually running?
The pre-converted form saids its based on a query. The form and the query shows up as valid. I then converted the form. When I run it I get no data found. If I take the query that the form is based on and run in sqlplus I get data.
Another confusing thing is when I look at the page for the converted form, there is nothing in the source area for the region where the converted query results should be.
Did the conversion not work? How can I tell what is the source? Where should the results from the query be located?

Its a standard SQL query:

The name of the above query lets say for example purposes is MYQUERY.
After looking at the page def I see that the way the conversion tool worked is that in the page definition it has this in the Processes Section:
After Header:
Fetch Row from MYQUERY.
Then it says automated Row fetch.
I compared this to another form that was converted thru the migration APex tool as well and on that form that does work I found that:
The query(form) was converted and placed in a region and the source has the query. THat is, it was not in the process section but in the region: source section.
So why does the conversion tool decide to convert one and populate as a region source and the other as a process in the page definition?
THis is all very confusing.

In our project Apex has integrated with oracle apps,every time we will open apex front end from oracle application(EBS).so we have two kinds of instances 1) development and other is production
every time we export the apex application from developement instance and import in production instance . after imported into production * we got JUNK TEXT like "TEXT:TEXT" in apex front end* so how can i remove JUNK TEXT from APEX

Hi,
It is not clear what you are seeing here. Also we don't know how you have integrated Apex with EBS. My guess is you have linked an Apex page to the EBS menu and when you click on the menu link you see the additional text on the Apex page.
You need to give details of how you have integrated Apex with EBS and where and when this additional text is being displayed for me to give you any help on this issue.

How to access a url only from APEX

Hi all.
We have a system that is accesible from internet, We are trying to secure the access to this system via login from APEX in order to deny the access to the URL if the request is not from our APEX app.
We configured the corresponding hostname in our APEX server and some firewall rules, but when a client clicks the link the hostname is looked in the client's computer, so is never found.
Is there any way to make this hostname resolution in the server's side?

If you are trying to limit access to "mynormal.server.com" by seeing if the end user clicked on a link from "myapex.server.com", the answer is:
You don't.
Trying to limit access to a web page based on how you got there is a really really bad form of security due to the false sense of security it implies.
It is so bad that it is better to not even try.
reason:
All URL requests can be easily manipulated by the client computer that is making the request. (ie the request is easily faked.)
The Unix utility wget can be used to fake the 'referrer' information.
