App Hosting confusion

Hello All,
I have a development machine VM for sp 2013.
If I want to develop an app can I go for provider hosted app?
Really these words are confusing a lot to me (SharePoint hosted, Provider Hosted, Auto Hosted)
why Microsoft doesn't provide some friendly name ....SharePoint hosted and Cloud Hosted.....
why do we need 3 hosting environments ?
In all 3 we will write the same code (javascript,jquery,knockout,bootstrap css,angularjs) ,rest apis .....why should we have 3 hosting techniques?
We can use CSOM everywhere ,we can develop apps on client side and we can package them as apps in all 3 environments,then why do we need 3 hosting techniques?

Hi,
The pattern Auto-Hosted no longer exists. Now, there are two patterns : "SharePoint Hosted" and "Provider Hosted".
The fact is that "Provider Hosted" allow you to develop by using server code and any language supported by your web server or hosting service contrary to "SharePoint Hosted" pattern.

Adding API App Host to Virtual Network fails

I've been trying for 2 days now to add an existing API App Host to a Virtual Network, but it errors with notification "VPNNetworkSetupFailure" and then the blade continues to say "Something went wrong" in the Networking tile. The
API App is DTSharedDimensions in subscription 8bc2fde5-e1ad-4bc0-9287-85957096f0b4.
Any help will be appreciated.
On another note - the API App blade doesn't list any API Apps, I have to go to the App Service Plan blade and navigate from there to the API App and the API App Host.

API Apps are hosted on Web apps. From Azure portal, you can use the following steps to navigate to the hosting Web App and enable Virtual Network.

Trouble sending to google apps hosted domains

We recently migrated to a new AD domain with a new Exchange 2013 box. Prior to that we were on Exchange 2007 in a different domain. We use postini for our spam/virus filtering.
Since we've moved to the Exchange 2013 solution, we have started having issues with some (not all) Google apps hosted domains. The firewall and IP of the server stayed the same regardless of the change. I looked into routing all of our outbound
mail (or just specific domains) through Postini to help with this issue, but their instructions work for 2007 and 2010 - not 2013. I tried setting it up with their directions, but modifying it for 2013, but that was a big failure. We are seeing
message delayed codes returned.
Remote Server returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
I did some research through Google Apps, but the only thing I found is a server reboot, which does nothing.
I have it working right now by routing everything for these Google Apps hosted domains by creating a separate send connector that routes through smtp.google.com as a smart host (using a gmail ID and password) but that's only going to work for so many messages
before it bombs, and we won't even get a notification.
Any suggestions?

According to your description, my understanding is that you cannot send message to google apps hosted domains after upgrading to exchange 2013. correct?
I recommend you post the header of the returned mail, it will help us to troubleshoot the issue.
In addition, I recommend use "Nslookup" to resolve these host domains in your server, and check the result.

Looking for widgets/apps/hosting for Realtor site

Hi all I want to build a site for a friend of mine that just became a realtor. I was wondering if anyone uses any widgets, prebuilt apps, or hosting specifcally for realtors to help them with automatically pulling their listings form the MLS and add them onto their web site. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Etherchannel Load-Balancing To Host (Confused)

I'm a bit confused as to how an etherchannel load-balances traffic across all the links, in the port-channel. If I have a 4 port etherchannel, to an AIX host, does the traffic load balance across all 4 ports? In reading the load-balancing documentation, it states that a global configuration of src-mac forwards traffic from the same host, over the same port, all the time, whereas it forwards traffic over different ports for other hosts. What if it's the same host tied into the port-channel? So if my AIX box has 4 ethernet cards in a port channel, each ethernet card goes over only one link? If the ethernet cards are bundled, into a port channel config, is there no way to load balance all the traffic? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the etherchannel configuration and how it works. Port channel is link aggregation for all traffic which will get distributed across all links. A given ip conversation will only travel down one of those links at any given time. The single ip conversation is not carried say for instance across all 4 links if it's a 4 port etherchannel.

CC App Is Confused About Installing Acrobat XI

I am a member of Creative Cloud. My CC app says Acrobat XI is installed and up to date. Yet in reality I only have Acrobat X in my applications folder, Acrobat XI is nowhere to be found.
Even when you choose 'Get info' on a PDF and click 'Open With' there is only Acrobat X to choose from.
I need Acrobat XI, the CC installer is obviously confused. How can I get the CC app to get it all correct?

go to Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE and OOBE to OOBE.old
go to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Caps and rename it to Caps.old
The above did work in terms of getting to the point where the CC app manager could once again install Acrobat XI. I had to give the computer a cold boot after the two steps above before it worked though.
While I do indeed have Acrobat XI working on my Mac now, the above remedies have evidently come at a price: The list of Adobe applications under the 'apps' pane of the CC app is not in any way synchronized with the list of apps that is actually on my hard drive.
Here are screen grabs of the CC App window and my applications folder respectively:
All these apps (CS6 versions as well as CC versions) appear to be working, but the CC App doesn't display an accurate account of what is already installed. I have several CS6 applications on my hard drive, yet the CC app is not acknowledging any of them in its list.
Can this be fixed?

wireless deletion works both ways. it won't for my domain hosted with google apps. email arrive quickly. deletion from blackberry to server works but not in the other way. i don't know if it's a blackberry or google issue. if someone has an idea...

Well I thought it may have been related to the Mail Attachment Iconizer plugin I was using, so I uninstalled that. After relaunching Mail though, I'm still seeing the same behavior:
If I send a file to someone using Mail, and then make edits to that file, I can't re-save the file as long as Mail is open. I need to quit Mail before it can be saved.

Different email accounts but same host confusion

Hi,
I am trying to set up the mac mail client and have a number of email accounts on different domain names but they all share the same incoming mail server as all hosted on the same server but i receive an error message:
The account “[email protected]” already has this host name and username
Any one have an idea how to bypass this?
The email addresses are different domain names but the incoming mail server is the same on all email accounts due to the SSL cert on the server.

here is an example
[email protected] has incoming mail server of mail.domain1.com and this domain has the ssl cert against.
2nd account that errors is [email protected] incoming mail server would be the above mail.domain1.com due to the ssl cert yet the mail app picks up the user name sam for [email protected] as if its [email protected] yet they are two different accounts

Cannot use Microsoft Exchange account to connect to Google Apps hosted accounts.

I am the Desktop and Device support Coordinator for my Department. We use Google Apps to host our email, calendar, docs, etc. On iOS and Android devices to connect we use an exchange account.
Email: [email protected]
Server: m.google.com
Domain: domain.com
Username: username
And it works just fine. However when we give the touchpad the same info, we get an error, bad username or password. This is using passwords greater than 12 characters, with spaces and special characters.
Username: username
Email: [email protected]
Server: https://m.google.com
Domain: domain.com
Any though on what we are doing wrong, or does webos exchange accounts not suppor this?

First, changing the password and trying it again with the "Google" account type doesn't work. And it shouldn't, on every other device (Android, iOS) if we try it with the standard "Google" account it does not work.
Now on every other device we use the "Microsoft Exchange" account type and it does work. Because Google provides a Microsoft Exchange account to act as a connector to their services.
Remember, this is not a standard google account, this is an App account, and as such cannot use the standard google login. If I tried to login to any of our app service (mail.google.com, calendar.google.com, docs.google.com) from it's google site it fails. The only way we can access the account is through a special login page that ties into our single sign on (mail.example.com, cal.example.com, docs.example.com), or use the Exchange Connector.
Now if the Microsoft Exchange account connection does not work in webOs to connect to Google, great. We return our tablets, and discourage pre's. But I really like webOS and would really like to use the touch pad and keep my pre.

Blackberry App World Confusion!!!!

Hey everyone,
I recently had my Blackberry Curve replaced by my phone provider, and I've noticed that in my uninstalled section of my app world is showing up apps I had on my previous phone, most of the apps showing in the uninstalled section have never been on the phone that I have now.
Can someone shed some light on this I'm quite confused.

When you move from device to device, if you use the same BBID credentials, then a lot of information is automatically moved along with you to the new device. This includes apps that you have obtained via AppWorld. So, those you are seeing, on this new device as uninstalled, are apps that you had installed to your prior device.

Uninstall the CC version unless you still need it for something. You can run both versions however until you know you don't need the old one anymore. The old CC was 32-bit and will no longer be getting updates and the 2014 version is 64-bit and a lot better as it is not run on Adobe Air like the CC version. It's basically a new program.

App Hosting

Once you submit an app to the app store and it is approved and available to the public, it is hosted on Apple server yes? I know its a stupid question, but I'd rather be 100% certain of this.
Apple do not charge any hosting fees for distributing apps do they? Even free ones?
Does anyone here know if the same is true for Android apps being hosted by Google?

Other than the $99 you pay to join the program, there are no fees whatsoever.
I have no idea about Google.

Allow Networking Disabled when Webpage Renders in an App Hosting Webbrowser Control

Was there a change with Security for Network requests for Flash player 11.4? I have a Windows Application that hosts the Webbrowser Control. When browsing webpages with Flash files that load external requests, the Flash ActiveX control does not load those external requests. It is behaving like the page specified allowNetworking="none" on the <param> tags of the <object>, or the mms.cfg contains DisableNetworkAndFilesystemInHostApp - but neither of the two is specified.
I cannot replicate with Flash 10.4 but can replicate the issue with Flash 11.4 on Webbrowser Control for IE8 and IE9 and it is not webpage specific. I can replicate on the http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

hi everybody
i have a general question regarding entries in hosts file.
OS : OEL 5
during the installation lets say if i assign a name (test > as localhost)
and (db > as localdomain) and i do not assign any static ip to it.
then the entries in my hosts file be like this
127.0.0.1 test.db test
right ???
will it cause any problem in hosting the software ??
or if i assign a static ip but dont give any DNS ips etc ???
will that cause any problem in hosting ???
i am doing it for my practice purposes.
so what the best option in that scenario ???

Regards !IP 127.0.0.1 is universally understood to be 'localhost'. DO NOT CHANGE THAT!

Correct SLD entries for XI components (different db and app host)

We have 3 XI systems. At two systems application server and db server are at the same host. So when you look at the sld you can see all XI componets of one system on the same host.
Integration Repository on <sid><host>
Integration Directory on <sid><host>
Integration Server on <host>
RWB on <sid><host>
Adapter Engine on <sid><host>
But at our third system the application server and the db server are not at the same host. And so the sld entries look like this:
Integration Repository on <sid><db_host>
Integration Directory on <sid><db_host>
Integration Server on <app_host>
RWB on <sid><db_host>
Adapter Engine on <sid><db_host>
Is this correct? I would expect all XI components at the app_host.

I've been investigating the same thing and do not know the answer.
All I've found is that it looks like the DBhost name is the default. Not sure if this impacts anything.
From the "I" button for the field in the SLD:
The name of the computer system that is most important for the system. By convention, the database host name is used. This property is a part of the compound name of class SAP_BCSystem. By default, host names in SLD are written lower case without any network domain
