App icon appearing twice

My foxtel app icon is appearing twice on my iPad desktop, and iamnot sure either is working correctly! How do I delete one of them? There is only one occurrence of the icon on my iPhone and in iTunes on my pc. Thanks

Grey App Icon Appears. Reboot and apps appear on different screens

I've noticed a strange thing happening on my home screen. Sometimes, and it seems when apps are automatically being updated, a gray app icon with a circle and an 'x' appears on my home screen. It will not go away and you cannot select it.
My home screen consists of 14 app icons, the rest of the screen is empty. I do this to declutter my home screen.
When I reboot my phone, the grey icon is gone, but it fills up my home screen with other app icons from a different page. When I move them back over to the second page so that only 14 apps appear again and the rest is empty space, I reboot my phone again, and it fills up the home page with more apps (different ones).
Is anybody else experiencing this issue? I tried to take a screen print of the grey icon to post here on my iphone, but when I looked at the photo, it wasn't there (very strange).
What does this grey app icon represent?
Is this a bug in the software?

Dock.app icon appears in dock!?

Well, I tried customizing my dock with a 3rd party app, but after applying the changes, I noticed that a new icon appeared in my dock - the icon for Dock.app. When I try quitting the app, it has a similar effect to the terminal command "killall Dock" - the dock quits, relaunches, and the icon is still there.

Since then I've tried numerous things:
1) Deleting the com.apple.dock.plist files.
2) Uninstalling and restoring the settings in the third party app.
3) "killall Dock" numerous times.
I've Googled this matter, but obviously, it has been to no avail.
So, my question, of course, is: HOW THE **** DO I GET THE ******* THING OUT OF THERE!
I have done a Time Machine backup, and am contemplating a reinstall, but does time machine keep system preferences as well?

Strange app icon appearance in library

Hey there,
I noticed a strange difference between the appearance of the app icons in my library (1st screenshot) and on the iTunes store (2nd screenshot). Can somebody else duplicate this issue. Any ideas to solve this?

Yes, this is a glitch in which some of my friends have been having lately With the iOS 8 update. I believe there is no solution to this at them time, but I am sure that Apple will release an update soon with millions of bug fixes.

I Noticed that some of my app icons randomly appear to grey / shade out, I don't know why they do this or what to do to get them back to normal. I've tried all sorts and the only thing I can get to work is to restart the phone.
its a 6 plus Btw.

Try downloading and installing any free app. That usually kicks things back to life.

Lock icons appear twice in notification area of task bar

I just got my touchsmart IQ546t. I've noticed sometimes the caps, num, and scroll lock icons in the notificaiton area of the taskbar appear twice. Not sure if it is something to do with the wireless keyboard or not. For now I hid them, but I would like to fix it.

Which tasks are not present in the taskbar area?
As far as I know if the application was started as a background process it doesnt occur in the task bar.
Furthermore possibly during the installation some programs ask you if you want create the icon in the task bar.

One of my app icons appear on bottom left of lock screen

I have the 5C with with iOS 8.1.2 Randomly, one of my apps will appear in gray at the bottom left on my lock screen. If I swipe up (like you could with the camera) it will ask me to unlock the phone then will launch the app. Why is this happening? HOw do I remove it? It only happens with one app. If I restart it will go away for a little while, then randomly appears another time. It happens when I am not in the app at all and it is completely closed, and not running in the background. Strangest thing. Anyone know how to fix it??

Usually they appear on the update screen but no icons appear so I can't update them. I've tried restarting my ipad but no luck.

Some Left Column Store Icons Appear TWICE. Any help on this?

The left column in iTunes shows my "Purchased on Apple TV" and "Purchased on iPhone" lines/icons twice after I upgraded to iTunes 10.2.

Microsoft Word 2011 Icon appearing twice

I just installed Office for Mac 2011 on my new Macbook Pro 15" and in the Launchpad the icon for Word 2011 is shown twice, How do i get rid of one of the icons? Also i am new to the Mac family so if this is an easy fix excuse my ignorance.

This solvable, but the solution may take a bit longer:
We're dealing, I recall, with the one icon that won't disappear into the trash. This can happen for several reasons, but is often no more than a glitch in the software.
First, make sure you've quit MSWord. You can quit from the Apple menu, or by keying in Cmd-Q.
Next, make sure MSWord is completely quit. Go down the Apple menu until you reach Force Quit. When you scroll down there, MSWord may be listed there; if so, choose to Force Quit the application
If this still doesn't work, there are several solid options left. Go to System Utilitites/Disk First Aid and perform a Permissions correction on your disk; this will take less than ten minutes. After you're done, Restart your computer. Your MBP will be as good as new.

Twitter App icon appears en Dashboard

Today I noticed that my menu bar logo of Twitter for Mac appears in the Dashboard, I clicked on it and nothing happened, so I think it's just a bug, anybody has the same issue?

How do I get apps that appear in purchased list to down from cloud. The icon is greyed out?

I have a few app icons showing the cloud that I am unable to download. The app icon appears greyed out and in some cases the install button is showing half the icon as if it had become corrupt during a previous download.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
Try logging out and back in with your AppleID - Settngs App > iTunes 7 qapp Stores > Tap your Apple ID > sign Out. then sign back in.

I'm running OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on a Mid-2010 MBP 15" i7. I did a clean install on my new SSD and restored my Time Machine backup. I have an aftermarket 8GB RAM and a 240GB SSD installed on it.
Some of my applications (like Geekbench, Growl Uninstaller, etc.) do not run. The developers claim they are compatible with 10.8 and I have the latest updates installed. The app icon appears for like a tenth of a second. It doesn't even run long enough for its icon to expand to normal size!
Can somebody please help with this?

Sounds like one of those right-hand icons can't find the correct icon at first. You can ignore it or reset the LaunchServices database using this one-liner in the Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/). Copy and paste it in and hit the return key, then restart:

Conduit toolbar icon - Value Apps icon added

I have that Value Apps icon added to my toolbar and cannot remove it.
Tried all the common solutions (add ons etc.) as far as I know and those config changes suggested in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/713710. That does remove the icon for a while but it then re-appears. I do not want that icon, is it malicious? The pop up window associated with it has not been installed consciously by me and I do not want it. At best it annoys me.
I have not tried the last suggestion on that link "SUCCESS! I uninstalled FF using the Revo uninstaller in the most thorough mode and then reinstalled FF." yet. Can anyone tell me what the Revo uninstaller is and implications?
Further I have more info. I use Zone Alarm Extreme security (for years and am happy with it) and it installs a Security toolbar in Firefox. No real issues to date but I recently noticed the Value Apps icon (no idea how long it was there) It appears to the right of the ZA search box sizing separator.
As above resetting Conduit config parameters does eliminate the toolbar icon for a while but it also eliminates the ZA toolbar as it also uses Conduit.
ZA help was limited (not my usual experience) and I wonder were to go from here?
I have a screenshot of the icon that I could post and also the config settings for Conduit, if of any use.

I will not go down the route of Revo!
Control over that toolbar is limited (afaik) to on or off.
I have reviewed the benefits and have concluded I will keep it on (see below) and will have to put up with the annoyance.

...so it seems very beneficial. Still annoying that the Value Apps icon appears. I will try an unistal and reinstall of ZA in case it has become infected itself as I otherwise do not know where the addition has come from.
