App Install - MD5 Checksum

Hoping someone else has run into this and has an updated solution.
As I need to batch upload content using an .xml manifest, the content ingestor (sp) suggests including a checksum for each asset. Further, they recommend the application MD5 Checksum which is being distributed via the Apple site here:

In downloading and extracting the app and it's Read Me, I find that the documentation pertains to installation on OSX 10.4 Tiger. As I am running OSX 10.5.8, the directory structure for installation no longer exists, viz:
To install
Place this file:
MD5 Checksum
... in this folder:
~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Finder
... where ~ represents your Home folder.
Can someone supply an updated path where this app should be installed?

With all due respect, thank you. I'm not sure this is relevant, however I am sure it is preposterously broad in terms of scope of reference.
I could start just about anywhere looking for a needle in a haystack as well. I was hoping someone could provide a magnet, rather than a magnifying glass.
Beyond that, I'm not dealing with server software, simply an install on a desktop machine that will run this little app, I presume, via Automator.
Can anyone else provide a little specificity, if not the actual path to the directory to drop into? It seemed like a very simple question, but perhaps I've posed it in the incorrect forum.

I know this is a really old thread but I have a question regarding the MD5 checks.
I am using a freshly installed Prime LMS 4.2.5 and I would like to know is the LMS is checking the file checksum of the IOS copied to a router/switch to make sure it's integrity is good? Or it is still not implemented? I am asking this because I see the SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.10.1.1.4.2.1.1.3 (ciscoFlashFileChecksum) in the traffic between LMS and the devices but I don't see any evidence in LMS job about this integrity check (neither in the telnet session commands).
[Update I] Just to inform you - if you ran into the same problem:
I opened an SR with Cisco to ask them about this and a nice engineer made a thorough investigation and the result is: during a deployment job LMS 4.2.5 does MD5 verification on the image copied on the device (but from another SR I know that the Prime Infrastructure 2.2 does not do MD5 verification on the image copied on the device, only when importing the image to the repository).
[Update II] Bug for this PI problem: PI (Version 2.2 and above), while distributing image into device, validates successful image copy by validating a copy prompt from the device - so only checking the size of the image, not the MD5 hash.. https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCut63077

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get my hands on the md5 checksum algorithm. I need to use it but it is not installed on my system. Running Solaris 2.6, also any advice on how to install it. Thanks in advance.

MD5 Checksum & additional Metadata?

I've been asked to supply a Pro Res 422 HQ file with its associated MD5 Checksum and additional metadata.
Can anybody explain how to do this? I'm aware I can export an XML file, but I can find no mentionof MD5 Checksum (what does this mean exactly)?

MD5 is a security measure to show that a transmitted file has arrived intact and has not been tampered with.
You create a file and read out it's MD5 (a string of letters and numbers) that uniquely identifies it.
Send that to the recipients -in an email for example.
They then download the video, read its MD5 and compare with the information in your email.
If both are identical, the file is intact.

Colorsync MD5 checksum error

I installed a new version of Flash and it seems that when I did this Colorsync turned up. When I checked the color profiles I got the following Swedish message.

Md5 checksums?

I burned the 8.1 64-bit evaluation version twice. Installation failed with both of them so the download file must be corrupt.
On download page I could not see a md5 checksum. Why this omission?
(It is UAS summer holiday time. My broadband at home is less than perfect...)

Actually there is no MD5 checksum by default in this download page.
What's the error message when system install failed? This problem may not be Dic problem.
However, you can try to use a better broadband network to download the ISO and create a installation disc for test.

CS3 InDesign & Illustrator Install Exit Code 7; Other CS3 Apps Install Fine

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse... (no offence to horse lovers out there - it's just an expression)
I'm having trouble performing an silent install of the CS3 suite from a network share on Windows 7. I've read through a number of posts on here, one of which was a 3 page post on this issue where Mac & Win 7 users alike posted failures, successes and how they got there, and another about removing the OS check feature from the application.proxy.xml file (which didn't work for me; unless I did something wrong...?) Unfortunately for me after trying much of what was suggested, I'm still facing a brick wall.
All these machines are Core 2 Duo's clocked at no less than 2.2GHz, have 4GB of RAM, have over 100GB of free disk space and are running fully updated/patched installations of Windows 7 32-bit (x86) with Office 2007 Enterprise.
When I try to install the suite silently it fails with 'Exit Code: 7', which according to the CS3_Deployment.pdf means "Unable to complete the silent workflow." If I take out the "--mode=silent" switch, the GUI launches and installs fine. I took a look at the compressed log file & searched for "Return value 3", "ERROR" and "FATAL" for clues, but its vague and nondescript. I didn't copy/paste the entire log in this post for brevity's sake, but you can check it out here:

I've got some initial questions that pertain to what's in the log file:
The areas in bold: Since the same install also fails on Windows XP machines, what does this mean exactly?
The areas in italics: Can anyone expand on what that means?
The underlined areas: What 'Policy' is this referring to: Setup's own internal policy (like the OS check) or something else?
Here's what I've done so far:
Went through the 'Run a silent installation of Adobe Creative Suite 3' document
Went through the 'Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4' document
Used the Adobe Support Advisor to go through the logs, but it always says that no problems are found.
Recreated the install & uninstall XML files, twice, via the "setup.exe --record=1" method for each application & the entire suiteNot that I think this is important, but I was never prompted to enter a serial number when creating the .XML files.
Renamed the XML files for each application (e.g.: Photoshop-install.xml; CS3Suite-install.xml; Flash-remove.xml etc.)
Copied the XML files to a common folder on a network share (e.g.: \\path\to\Adobe\Design Premium CS3\Adobe CS3\XMLs)
Created install batch files for each application, including the suite, that install via the following command"\\path\to\Adobe\Design Premium CS3\Adobe CS3\Setup.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="\\path\to\Adobe\Design Premium CS3\Adobe CS3\XMLs\Photoship-install.xml"
Tried the installs with & without the "--skipProcessCheck=1" switch but there's no change.
No applications are running during the installs.
Verified my application.xml.override file was in \\path\to\Adobe\Design Premium CS3\Adobe CS3\payloads\AdobeDesignSuitePremiumen_US_Volume
Verified I didn't have any strange characters in my application.xml.override fileI deleted and manually retyped all double quotes just to be sure.
I noticed that the "installSourcePath" property in the install.xml files created point to a local location rather than, what I would expect to be, the installation source folder where I copied the contents of the DVD to. On a whim I changed it to point to the copied DVD files but that didn't seem to help either so I changed it back.

Aside from Acrobat Reader 9.4.0, Adobe Flash Player 10 (ActiveX & Plugin) and maybe Shockwave 11, these machines never previously had any other Adobe products installed.
For what its worth, uninstalling Acrobat Reader 9.4.0 doesn't seem to help either. I didn't try removing Flash Player or Shockwave [yet].
Using the install XML files I created via "setup.exe --record=1", when I run installs for the individual applications silently [via batch files] one at a time, all applications install fine except for Illustrator and InDesign: Exit Code 7.
This may further help suggest my application.xml.override file is fine.
Even more interesting is that I get the same error on Windows XP and Windows 7 machines alike. (See the image below taken from an XP machine; the same happens on Windows 7 machines so it doesn't appear this problem is OS specific.)
Other than removing Flash Player, Shockwave and ripping out our Anti-Virus solution (Sophos), which is going to be difficult, is there anything I've missed?
Anyone have suggestions on why Illustrator and InDesign don't install?

Although this article speaks to CS5 installations, even though I thought I made it clear that I was working with CS3, I decided to give it a shot anyway.
The first comment passively suggests troubleshooting [all] "install errors using Creative Suite 5 install logs", which links you to CPSID_84451 - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/844/cpsid_84451.html. But again, its CS3 I'm having trouble with and I've already linked, what I believe to be, a more appropriate CS3 [and CS4] log troubleshooting document in my first post.
Step 1 requires restarting "your computer in a minimized state before running the installer." - This isn't at all optional nor ideal when we're talking about silent installations, especially when they can take place in the middle of the day - its highly distruptive, or deployments in general. Plus, I'm not interested in developing a package that will perform the steps outlined and then undo everything. Its important to note that this isn't a one-off problem: every machine that needs to have CS3 installed experiences this problem. But for what its worth:
I did as instructed in the troubleshooting documentation but it didn't work.
No other applications fail to install, and all but these lone Adobe CS3 apps install fine; what gives?
Step 2 is to perform a repair installation of the Windows Installer. (FYI: Windows 7 ships with 5.0, my version is 5.0.7600.16385, and for the record there doesn't seem to be a redistributable download available at this time.) I can't use this as part of my silent installation package because it calls you to run `sfc /scannow` which is time consuming and, if something is found, often requires a reboot. Fortunately for me, "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
Step 3 is to preinstall Adobe Air and the AdobeHelp payloads:
AIR isn't part of the CS3 DVD, it has to be downloaded & installed silently (via -silent -eulaAccepted if you don't have the redistributable package); this was done but didn't help.
There isn't an 'AdobeHelp' payload, only 'AdobeHelpViewerAll', which will not allow a manual instalation so I can't do that.
In summary, these tips unfortunately did not solve the problem.

IPhone stuck in reboot loop - too many apps installed?

Hi guys!
Starting some months ago, I've had nothing but problems with my iPhone. However, I've been dealing with most of these or even solved them.
But now I'm stuck on a reboot loop for a few days and don't know what to do.
When did it start? I think it was in May when I first got panic.plist, ResetCounter and SpringBoard-CrashLogs under "Diagnostics and Usage". Following this, everytime I rebooted my phone or the battery was empty, it could take some more minutes than normal for my iPhone to boot. This loading time increased and increased, in October it once took more than two days for my iPhone to reboot. I now have really thousands of those ErrorLogs. The Apple support on the phone couldn't help me either. Additionally, the phone performed some cruel changes I can't explain: Once the language was changed, once the photo gallery had to be restored (the iPhone did that on its own).
However, sometime in November the iPhone crashed, and I was already thinking that it would now last a few days until I could use it again. But somehow it was done within 15 minutes. Without any error or reboot loop. The last two months I haven't had any problems with this until the battery was empty three days ago.
Since then, I have had the iPhone plugged in so the battery doesn't get empty and it's stuck on the bright Apple logo. After about 210 seconds the logo gets dark, then the screen is completely black and it's starting the same procedure again. Sometimes I get the vibration, sometimes the loading circle (white wheel of death!), but everytime it just starts over again.
I am pretty sure this problem appears because I have more than 1300 apps installed (yes, this is a very huge number, but I remember Steve Jobs saying that, with the folders in iOS 4, it would be possible to have a few thousand apps installed), 4000+ photos, and so on. I am pretty sure it's not a hardware, but a software problem. In detail, it's about the SpringBoard. The iPhone 4S only has 512MB RAM, so it's hard for it to load 1300+ app icons into its memory (which it has to because the SpringBoard has to run without any lags). Only in some cases it's able to boot that up, but I have absolutely no idea which cases these are and why it has run well for the last two months, but beginning with the new year stopped to work.
Furthermore, the panic.plist entries all say that the problem is a watchdog timeout. Apple's iOS seems to allow the devices only to take up to two minutes (always around 120 seconds in the CrashLogs) to boot up, then probably another 120 seconds to launch the SpringBoard process (which explains the watchdog timeouts in the SpringBoard-CrashLogs).
I will not restore the iPhone because I unfortunately haven't backed up for a long time and there have been many data changes since the last backup.
So altogether, I tried to collect all the information I know here, but that's really not enough. Apple unlikely wants to help me, the phone support was really nice, but even asked his superior, who couldn't help either.
My questions to you folks now are: Do you have any more information regarding panic.plist's, watchdog timeouts or reboot loops?
What would your advice be? Any chance to get onto my data and back it up? Or is waiting the best solution?
Would it be better to try several hard resets, or let the battery run empty and start the whole process again, or just let the phone plugged in so it tries to reboot on and on until it's hopefully successful sometime?
And: Would it maybe increase the loading time if I would take the SIM card out of the iPhone, so the chance to have an successful try would be higher?
Note: I am still using iOS 5.1.1 because I am completely sure that I'd have to buy an iPhone 5 to run 1300+ apps on iOS 6.

Okay, some more information about this.
Apparently there is a 'watchdog' that listens whether the iPhone's software responds or not. If it doesn't, it forces a restart, and also creates a panic.plist entry (under Diagnostics). Unfortunately the responding time is only 120 seconds. The problem I have now is the so called 'Application Map'. To ensure a smooth browsing through the different screen filled with apps, this map is regenerated everytime the user installs a new app or deletes one. Because I have more than 1300 apps installed, generating this Application Map usually takes more than two minutes. I can only hope that sometime in the next days my iPhone will be able to do this in less than 120 seconds (like it has done that several times before).
I still can't explain why everything had been working great during the last two months. I have probably installed some new apps, but also deleted other ones, so the number of total apps didn't really increase heavily.
However, I've read about some possible solutions to this problem (without restoring - which would solve the problem only temporarily anyway):
Hard-resetting the iPhone until the screen is completely black, then wait a few minutes, then turn the device on. It's possible that this has to be repeated several times, but for the user who posted this it resolved the issue.
For all the (in this case lucky) guys with a jailbreak: SSH into the iPhone, then temporarily move the watchdog located under /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle to a different folder, the iPhone will boot up after a few minutes. Then just move the watchdog back. It's a shame that apparently jailbreak users can resolve this issue, while normal users can't.
I also want to note that this problem has been appearing since iOS 2, which came out more than four years ago. It would be really no big deal for Apple developers to change the 120 seconds to e.g. 300 or even more. I've found hundreds of threads, not only here, where users complain about exactly the same issue. I don't have any hope that an Apple employee will ever read this, but if so, please keep that in mind. I don't understand why Apple has done nothing to solve this issue.
However, if you have any more ideas, please reply here. If there's anyone around here who has managed to successfully install more than 1300 apps on his iPhone (or iPod touch), please post that.

I have problems accessing apps installed in my iPad through iTunes 12

I have several apps installed in my iPad, among them Adobe Reader and AVPlayerHD. With the previous version of iTunes it was easy to access these apps and upload content directly to the apps in order to see this content on the iPad 3rd gen, model MD368B/A.
Now I can't even find a way to access the apps via iTunes!
I see the Apps item on the menu on the left side column. Click there and I see a list of apps on the right side. Click on Adobe Reader icon for example and nothing happens. In the previous version of iTunes I could see the icon, click on it and there would be an area where I could either drag content to it or click a button to upload it. Now that functionality seems to be hidden or has disappeared.
To say this absolute disregard to the user experience from Apple is frustrating is an understatement. Why does the company insist on being this disrespectful to us users' time? Why should I have to put effort into 'learning' how to navigate a new interface when all these changes from the previous version seem superficial, irrelevant and just plain idiotic? There seems to be absolute no advantage to this new user interface.
And I used to love Apple. I have used its products for more than 20 years. In part that's the biggest annoyance. There is really no alternative, so if they keep messing with these absurd interface changes and lack of awareness and respect for the user's experience there's little to do about. Except rant like this on such a forum. Is there any hope anyone from the company might ever listen?
Any help with finding the way to upload content to Apps installed in my iPad via iTunes would be very, very much appreciated.

HT204088 Why does AppStore crash when I try to return to Utilities category after viewing a second or third app (AppStore quits ,iPad (1.1) goesto home page with AppStore on it. 20+ of 32GB available, 28 apps installed, iOS 5.1.1 (says sw "up to date")

My ipad(1.1) jumps out of Appstore after I've viewed 2or 3 apps, seems to be happening more often now. It returns to the page the Appstore icon is on. When I select Appstore again, it opens on the page of the last app downloaded, then I can return and browse Utilities category until next crash. It has 20+ GB available of 32GB, 28 apps installed, I don't use iTunes. I don't know what OS is installed, it's not cellular enabled. I haven't checked other categories and unsure if reducing open browser tabs affects the problem, possibly lets Appstore run longer before crashing. It always crashes when I attempt to return to the category. OSVersion is 5.1.1, Update Check says software is up to date. It has crashed if I scroll thru the pages of apps too fast.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

How can I install apps on a device that has a "for work" app installed?

Hi, I have an iPod touch version 4.3.5 (ML1). Model is MC540C.
It has been provided for me from work, but I can use it as I wish.
The apps that are installed are:
Facetime
Music
Photos
Camera
Videos
YouTube
Stocks
Notes
Weather
Utilities
App Store
Game Center
Settings
Contacts
iTunes
Safari
Maps
Mail
Calendar
"one app installed by company"
The last app is needed for when I do work. It doesn't need to run on the background. When I'm doing work, I need to input some information in that app, and sync it to my company's server.
I would like to install some apps (free) of my choosing. But I'm coming across a hurdle...
I choose "App Store" in Home.
I search for a free App (for example the Google Search app by Google Inc)
I'm taken to the app's info screen. I tap the blue "Free" button.
The button becomes a green "Install App" button.
I get a pop-up box saying
Apple ID password
[email protected]
[password]
How can I install apps of my choosing without having a "work app" get deleted? This work app was installed on the "[email protected]" Apple ID.

I logged out of my AppleID on the iPod, took it to his computer, synced it, which erased all of my apps. I installed the default apps plus one app that he bought using his account info.
You made his computer the syncing computer.
When you did this:
Connected to my Mac and iTunes and tried to sync one of the apps I bought with my account. The app shows up on one of the pages before you start the sync, but once you apply the sync, it does not transfer.
And, of cause, no restrictions set at all.
You changed syncing computers but you can only sync apps (and some other things like photos) from only your one syncing computer.

You can't. Apps and really all content purchased/downloaded through one Apple ID is forever tied to that Apple ID. In the case of Apps they will always request that Apple ID to update as they are licensed to that Apple ID.
In reality, the Apps were licensed to that Apple ID by the developer. And cannot simply be given away to you for you to use.
He should have wiped the iPod clean so you could set it up for your use without any of his accounts or purchased content as you are not really licensed to any of those Apps.
