App killer for pre?

I just got my Palm Pre (after my beloved Palm Treo fell apart )....  when I read the reviews and saw how many people were complaining about battery life, I wasn't worried because I don't use my phone all day.  However, OMG, this Palm Pre sucks the life out of its battery!
I was told that if I got an app killer, my battery life may improve.  Anyone try this?  If so, where can I get a good app killer?
This question was solved.

Apparently, he was right!  This new Pre I just got today still had half the battery charge left after 4 hours of stand-by & moderate usage!
So, the battery life isn't as good as that of my Treo, but MUCH better than the first Pre they gave me!
Thanks for reporting back to us xandria!

    Hi smithin,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you've submitted an iOS application to the App Store, which is being processed, but there's an unresolved issue.

  • RadioTime App not showing up in Palm's App Catalog for Pre users inside the United States!

    Hi,
Preware is telling me that there is an update for RadioTime which I purchased from Palm's App Catalog a few months ago.
    I love this app!
However, when I attempt to do the update, the Palm App Catalog is telling me there is no app there!
The app shows OK when looking for it from the Palm's Website, here is the link it's at the bottom of the page on the right side:
    http://www.palm.com/us/products/software/mobile-applications.html
I think they mistakenly set updated app to be only for Pixi users and that is why it's not showing for the Pre users.
That of course is just a guess as to why it's not showing up.
I am trying to contact Palm Support to let them know of the problem but when I attempt to do a LIVE chat, it's not working with either IE or Firebox or even Chrome browsers.
I am not going to call and pay $15 to tell them about their problem!
Please can someone who has inside contacts please let them know of the problem!
    Thanks!
    Rob
PS I will be watching for any replies that made to this new thread!

It looks like radiotime is available only for Pixi users. Palm does not control who gets the applications it is done by the developer, you may want to try contacting them asking if the application can be opened up for Pre users as well.

  • App for pre-approved card or wait?

I have a C1 platinum 800 limit since april and a C1 Quicksilver - the one with the annual fee - $500 limit that I just got in the beginning of July.  I know I should have at least 3 revolving credit lines.  I would like to get the third one established sooner rather than later and then start to garden and age off the multiple inquiries I have while working on some other areas of my rebuild. I want as much time as possible to recover from the hit I assume my score will take when I apply and to age the account before we start searching for mortgages hopefully next spring/summer. I check for pre-approvals all the time because I'm a bit obsessed and I finally got one for the Discover it card.  No other credit cards give me pre-approvals yet.  Scores are 618, 638, 644. I honestly don't know if I want a discover card.  I don't know what I want.  The amount of information is all overwhelming and goes right over my head.  I need some kind of comparison chart designed for a 5 year old to understand.  (does that exist anywhere?) I'm trying to go about this rebuild the RIGHT way.  But I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out which is the RIGHT card.   Should I get it because I can (probably) or should I hold off until something better comes along - and how will I know what's better?

Update, from this thread: http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Discover-online-preapproval/td-p/3023272 "Does it say anywhere on the page.... "Congratulations, you are pre-approved for the following cards/products?"  If not, it is probably the standard offer page when there isn't a pre-approval." I just tried the link again and it gave me the "Here's The Card We Found For You" with a merlot colored Discover IT.
I tried it again with the name Snoop Dogg and SSN 1234 and it gave me "Here's The Card We Found For You" with the silvery blue Discover IT card....

  • Can you share purchased apps between a Pre and a Pre 2?

I own a Pre (Bell Mobility) and just got the Pre 2 (Rogers).  I probably intend on keeping both.
Question: can the apps that I purchased through the App Store for the Pre (using the Pre's profile and email address which are obviously different than the one on the Pre 2) be installed on the Pre 2 without having to purchase them again?
    Thank you.
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102una (Rogers)

Hello bwc565 and welcome to the Palm forums.
My understanding of how the Palm App Catalog works is that purchases are tied to your Palm Profile, which is tied to an email address.  It *might* work if you were using the same device and moving a single SIM card between the devices.
However, since you are using two different phone models, and have two separate Palm profiles, I don't think you will be able to move apps from your Pre to your Pre 2 without having to repurchase them.

  • Why is Adobe dropping support for pre 3GS phones?!

I think it's a bad decision to drop support for pre 3GS devices. There are still many out there and if support is dropped we're forced to still use the old PFI to reach the complete audience.
It's clear that OpenGL ES 2 offers a lot more fancy stuff than OpenGL ES 1.5 does, but still, things like GPU_VECTOR or sophisticated blending are perfectly doable with OpenGL ES 1.5.
And if a clean implementation is really not possible, Adobe should at least allow to publish for old devices even if this means that not all optimization techniques can be used.
I develop iPhone apps using different technologies and AIR is attractive for me because I can target with one project a big range of different plattforms. If Adobe drops support for old phones, this advantage is heavily shortened!
What is your opinion on the this development?

Apple have dropped support for pre-3GS because to pull of the features and performance in iOS 4.3 they had to develop just for the ARM7 chip, and not for the ARM6. They probably have a good sense of the number of people that have the older devices, and think it's ok to not update the software on those devices.
The same may be true for Adobe.
I am trying to find out how to make AIR 2.6 and AIR 2.0 live together in Flash CS5. If I work it out I'll let you know.

  • Options for pre-recorded voice paging

What options are there for pre-recorded voice paging on Cisco Phone Systems.
We are running Cisco Unity Express 3.1 on a Cisco 2851 and I have a ATA186 that connects to a PA System that has an extension assigned to it.
So what I would like to do is select between 2 or three pre-recorded messages and play it over that extension.
I know Informacast will do it but that is a little expensive in my opinion for what I want to do.

Take a look at SynApps SA-Announce and Broadcast Manager: http://syn-apps.com
Both are great products, compatible with CME, and are typically cheaper than other options.

  • Why Can't I watch any types of videos on apps except for Instagram?

I Can't watch videos on any apps! For example: Youtube, facebook. But I can watch videos on Instagram? It happends the same thing on My iPad 3.

Download the offline installer here: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/mac /install_flash_player_11_osx.dmg
If it won't download directly, right click and "Save as"…
DO NOT mount the DMG or run the installer yet!
Quit your Browser (Press Cmd+Q - Don't just close the window)
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plugins
Trash the Flash Player.plugin file from there
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Flash Player folder (the whole folder)
    Empty the trash
Reboot (This will "kill" all running processes)
Before launching any apps, mount the DMG and run the installer.
BEFORE opening any Flash content in Safari, open Safari>Preferences, and check the Security tab once again to make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked.

Its not my fault my phone number was used, it is how Verizon is setup between Forums/Community and My Verizon Wireless UserID and Passwords.  If I recall to register for the Forum/Community your pw can only be 6 characters, while my VZW is 10 characters long. Not true, I have the same 8 character password for both. I have offered the forum ideas on how to not allow a number to be entered, but as of now, they have not done anything with it.
And since I use Norton Internet Security 2011 along with Identity Safe/SafeWeb, not everything goes as planned.   I have over 25 yrs experience with PC's...and about a zillion usernames and passwords and about every site has something different about Usernames/ID can be and the same of passwords.
Then the other issue is that you cannot Delete a Forum/Community login account or change the UserID, in my case from the phone number to a text Username ID.  And Verizon Wireless allows you to log in your account with your phone number.
Also, as I went checking My Settings for the VZW Community, under Personal Profile > IM Screen Names > for ICQ, my phone number appears and how/why I have no idea.  And when I tried to remove it, Save Changes, it would automatically reappear.
So after about an hour on the phone with Verizon explaining my dilemma about the phone number and having read another post different topic by an Administrator of Verizon, I obviously missed something in the steps in registering for the VZ Forum/Community.
Not to mention you have a different pw for billing, pw for login to My VZW and somehow since I was logged in to My VZW already, which as I said you can use your phone number as a UserID, something now I see should not be allowed.I never thought about that, but phone description is not an auto filled area, it is strictly optional.
And so the End User, is left to fend for themselves and figure out how to unravel this issues, glitches by companies & their web sites.  I have/had the same problem with Qwest and why I now use Verizon, issues with SBC Global and now these issues with VZW.
Qwest offered Bundle & Save, so I had Wireless, Satellite and Internet...well just after I upgraded my Qwest wireless phone, Qwest decided to drop Wireless and left me with a new phone I could not do anything with and was allowing Qwest to flip over to Verizon.  Qwest Internet Service sucks big time, as my location does not allow fast internet service due to my location, as told me by one of their Tech making a house call.
So for a year I was paying for something I would never get, as Sales does not know what Tech's know.  However, Qwest keeps sending mail advertisements saying Up to 7Mbps, or Fiber Optic  Up to 20Mbps, key words are Up To, so if you are paying for 7Mbps and receiving 2.2 Mbps, that is consider Up to the 7, which the 2.2 is unstable and your connection drops frequently.  So the Tech downgraded me to 1.5Mbps, otherwise I would of had to pay dearly if I made the change breaking the contract.
So yes we live and learn, even at age 63...I can go on and on how HP, Kodak and others have ripped the consumer off, in this case me.  On my 5th system board for the HP dv6000 and now there is a class action lawsuit.
To little too late...Appreciate the reply and not much I can do about the number, once its out there its any ones and I only know that scenario and unwanted calls too well.  I have several e-mail accounts, am a webmaster with umpteen web sites, and work on & servicing computers, Internet, Networking...my first Smartphone HTC Incredible and not liking how it works...thanks again, appreciate your time in replying and pointing out a Big Mistake ha ha....DroidFireDoc

  • To have an app killer or not to, that is the question

Hey guys. I have a quick question. May sound dumb or may have already been asked but i can't find it. The question being, is it safe to use an application killer or not. I understand that some programs must stay running (have done that much research.) But it is safe to have an app killer and kill simple apps such as facebook, myspace, yahoo messenger, etc. I am currently using the advance task killer free version. I just don't want to do anything to harm anything such as the phones functioning. Thanks in advance for the help.

It all depends on what you want out of your phone. If you want long battery life, then don't install a task killer. If you want faster application response (from already running apps, i.e. Internet browser) that dynamically require more and more memory as you use it, then install a task killer and configure it to only stop apps that don't auto-start. I've found that some apps like mail, gmail, browser, games, run much snappier if the underlying OS isn't busy having to stop other apps and free other resources. Ironically, none of these issues are new, Mainframe, host based, virtual, and cloud computing developers have been dealing with shared resource issues for decades. Silly android devs, they think they've discovered something new.

  • App killer or Task killer or whatever...

I know I've seen this mentioned on this fourm before, but I cannot find it.  There is a build in app killer on the Incredible somewhere and I need the directions.  Thanks!
Also, does anyone know if there is Tip Calculator on the Incredible, or do I need to find an app for that...

Task killers are a waste imo.  Plenty of articles out recommending against them with the benefits being almost negligible and they typically end up causing more problems.  The android OS will manage the memory and close apps as needed.  If you're having battery life issues, look into adjusting the refresh settings of the app. Phone lagging? Look at the apps you're using and try to find alternatives.  Task managers aren't the end all be all to poorly designed or misbehaving apps.  Using it to cut down on steps required  to close a misbehaving app here or there? Setup a shortcut to manage applications or running services on you home screen and that's one less app you have using memory.
As for the running services, those are associated with apps that need constant connection and run in the background.  Stopping everything there could technically improve your battery life, but then you won't be getting emails, google talk notifications, etc.
