App killer or Task killer or whatever...

I know I've seen this mentioned on this fourm before, but I cannot find it. There is a build in app killer on the Incredible somewhere and I need the directions. Thanks!
Also, does anyone know if there is Tip Calculator on the Incredible, or do I need to find an app for that...

Task killers are a waste imo. Plenty of articles out recommending against them with the benefits being almost negligible and they typically end up causing more problems. The android OS will manage the memory and close apps as needed. If you're having battery life issues, look into adjusting the refresh settings of the app. Phone lagging? Look at the apps you're using and try to find alternatives. Task managers aren't the end all be all to poorly designed or misbehaving apps. Using it to cut down on steps required to close a misbehaving app here or there? Setup a shortcut to manage applications or running services on you home screen and that's one less app you have using memory.
As for the running services, those are associated with apps that need constant connection and run in the background. Stopping everything there could technically improve your battery life, but then you won't be getting emails, google talk notifications, etc.

Task Killer problem, please help !!

hi all,
I downloaded the task killer app.
I clicked on it and and I saw a list of what I think are all programs on my phone.
I can either put checkmarks on selected apps, then a 'clear selected' button pops up Or a 'kill all' and then a message pops up that says :task koller, available memory 250 mb, 'confirm' ?
update:.........................Now, every time I am on my main screen of my phone, and I touch the 'task killer' it just stays on my home screen, it doesn't even go to task killer anymore.
Did I 'kill' the task killer ? lol !
What Task Killer app seems to work best for everyone and how do you use it properly? I suppose I need to download another one asap.
Also....................how do I 'uninstal' an application (like the 1st task killer) once I no longer need it on my phone?

I recently purchased my first smartphone, a Droid Razr, and have a question about task killer apps.
Several people have told me that I should install a task killer app. They have recommended "Advanced Task Killer". They claim that a task killer app is necessary to conserve memory and extend battery life. But I have also read that many people claim that with current Android software, like Ice Cream Sandwich, task killers are completely unnecessary. They say that Android takes care of memory management, and that there is almost no gain in battery life.
I don't know who to believe! As a smartphone "newbie" I would appreciate more opinions on this.

I gave them my experience. I felt I never needed to" kill" an application even during the android versions where many people were using them.
To the OP, there are many, many discussions already existing in this community forum where more information is discussed and debated on the merits of "task killers". A search would have yielded some of those including ones where both myself and other users much more knowledgeable about android have given their opinions and links to tech blogs with additional information. I would suggest going through those discussions.

Kill RT task frontpanel RED-X versus WIN32-API

I have a LabVIEW task compiled to EXE which is downloaded to a remote processor; the front panel remains open locally.
I want to kill that task and re-download it. This works the way I want if I use the local mouse to click the RED-X kill box on the upper right corner of the local front panel for the remote task... The panel disappears AND the remote task stops executing.
The problem is that when I use the WIN32-API to try and kill the local front panel for the remote task I never get the remote task killed. Some WIN32-API calls such as sending EndTask via USER32.DLL to the local panel's window ID cause the local panel to close but the remote task keeps running and is not aborted. Sending a WM_Close to the local panel's window ID involves the operator because it produces a LabVIEW dialog asking me whether I "want to close all RT tasks or not"
What message do I send to the window, or what system call do I envoke to get the same result as that simple local mouse click on the RED-X kill box on the upper right corner of the local front panel for the remote task?

Hello.
Normally a Real-Time task does not require a front panel so closing the Front Panel that you have opened remotely does not necessarily cause the VI to stop running, it merely disconnects the front panel connection to the VI.
In order to achieve the same resul, you can use an Invoke Node to close another VI.
To do this you will need to
follow the steps outlined below.
Open a blank VI and place an Open VI Reference on the block diagram.
Create
a control to the "VI Path" input of the Open VI Reference. On the front
panel you will need to browse to the VI you want stopped.
Wire an Invoke Node to the Open VI Reference and set the Invoke Node to "Abort VI."
Wire a Close Reference to the Invoke Node.
Wire a General Error Handler to the Close Reference.
Open the VI that you want to stop. Make sure it is running and then run the vi you just created. This will stop the first VI.

Every time one of my email addresses doesn't work on my mail app, due to wrong password or whatever, it deletes all of the contacts form my phone. What can I do to stop this from happening?
I have tried deleting the account and it deletes all my contacts. I have verizon and even using back up assistant, it says the contacts are there but they aren't. The only way i can find a contact is if I start to type a name in and new text but once i sent the new text, the name disappears and it just shows the number. Siri nor the address book don't recognize any contacts at all.

I cant find any reciept in my email or in my husbands email. I am going to attempt to call and speak to someone who can help me because this was not my fault except trying to be normal and update my phone!

How can I check if event oracle.apps.jtf.cac.task.createTask was raised when a task was created?
This event will raise every time a task is created independent of which process created the task? I mean if the task was automatically created when SR is created or if the task is manually created?
How can I test this business event manually?
In our environment (EBS 11.5.10.2) there are following subscriptions to this business event:
CS_SR_SECURITY_UTIL.SECURE_SR_TASK_OWNER
jtf_task_wf_subscribe_pvt.create_task_notif_subs
CS_SR_CHILD_AUDIT_PKG.CS_SR_Audit_ChildEntities
I have added subscription xxcsf_002_wf_subscribe_pkg.create_task, which calls to function (create_task) in a DB package (xxcsf_002_wf_subscribe_pkg). The first thing I do, before anything else, is logg to a custom table the event of entering the package function but then when task is created in "Enter Request Service" form nothing is logged in the custom table.
What am I doing worng? Thanks in advance for the help!

The sql returned 0 so that means the event is not fired. How do I make it fire. Isn't it standard? Is there some setup I have to do or enabled somewhere? I have this requierement to create automatically an assignment for tasks automatically created when SR is created in Field Service Technician Portal. I thought I could create the assignment when this business event is raised, which means a task is being created and validating where it is originated from (WEB). I need to set scheduled dates for the task as well. I appreciate the help in this. I would like to use the business event to call on a package function but it is not being fired.

Is there a way to keep a reminder notification on my lock screen - and be counted on the bubble of the Reminder app - until the task is checked off in the Reminder app?

Let me clarify my question regarding the Reminder App. Lets say I set a reminder for a task for today at 2PM. At 2PM my phone sounds and I pull out my phone and on the lock screen is a notification of my reminder. However, lets say I dont complete the task that I was suppose to do at 2PM and, therefore I have NOT put a check mark in the reminder app box that the task was completed). What I want is for the notification on my lock screen to keep hounding me until I put a check mark in the reminder item. I want the bubble in the Reminder App on my home screen to contain the cound of UNCOMPLETED tasks (e.g. tasks that do not have a check mark in them).
Is there an option in the Reminder App to do this (e.g. the "dont stop hounding me" option) ? It all seems so logical. Someone must have asked how do this before but I couldnt find it.

Some app is going to kill my battery

when there are no app running with multi-task view, my iP5'battery (7.1.2) went from 65% to 16% after night.
I think some app is killing my battery with keeping connection to internet, I'm not sure if it is skype!!!

well i see you have a whole raft of social media apps running - i'd suggest going to settings/general/background app refressh and turning off background app resfresh for all these type of apps - facebook is a known culprit and i am sure the others are no different.

Multiple instances of firefox running cannot kill in task manager "Access denied"

There's no issue with starting a new instance after closing one, the "firefox is already running" error is not occurring (ok maybe once or twice a month, but it's not related to this problem, as my problem happens all the time.)
Apparently when closing a ff window it never fully stops. My computer slows down because of it and these multiple instances of firefox show up in Task Manager. When I try to kill the extra processes it just goes "BANG" and the "access denied" error dialog box appears. They are all running under my user account, and in CPU some are just 10 or 25 and some are in the hundreds and some are over a million. what the heck is going on?
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and ff 23.0 but this has been happening since about ff 15 (?)

When closing Firefox completely, it is important to close it using the Exit button, located inside of the Firefox/File menu.
Another cause to this problem could be a Firefox preloader. Do you have any programs that will load Firefox automatically? They are supposed to improve start time.

Firefox hangs on plugin loading, not marked by OS as unresponsive, must be killed with task manager, works fine with other Windows 7 users on this computer.

I'm not sure what plugin is the problem but when the plugin_container process loads, firefox hangs and becomes unresponsive. Windows 7 doesn't recognize it as such, however, and I have to kill the process with TaskMgr.
The problem does NOT seem to be the plugin container itself because when I add the MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS environment variable to windows the problem still happens, just internalized to the firefox process.
Since I remote into the box a lot I have other users, all of which have no problems with firefox. It's only localized to the one user.

My suspicion is Flash, since that probably is the most commonly used plugin. Try disabling the protected mode feature, since that is currently being debugged. TS3274 I use to be able to shut down apps as to not kill my battery by pushing the button twice and all apps running appeared at the bottom of the screen. Then i could turn each one off at a time. Now how do I do that with the IO7?

Before IO7, I would control the life of my battery by shutting down the apps. I would push the main button on the front twice and all apps that were running in the back ground would appear on the bottom of the screen. I could click on each one to shut it down. Now, I can't seem to figure out how to shut them down. Please help if anyone knows what to do.

Firefox already running, profile missing or inaccessible, cannot kill in task manager

For reference, this is on windows 8
In the past I've (very rarely) had the "firefox is already running" error and was able to fix it by ending the process in task manager. I updated to firefox 36 the other day. Since then, firefox will run perfectly normally for a while, but after some time (varies from minutes to hours) I can no longer load new pages. The loading wheel just keeps spinning.
Once this has happened, if I quit firefox and try to open it again, it will give me "firefox already running" followed by "profile missing or inaccessible" error messages. If I go to task manager, sometimes no firefox.exe is there, sometimes it is and I cannot close it. In either case I still can't start the program.
I tried reinstalling firefox, which did not fix the issue. I've also tried creating a new profile, again to no avail. AVG picks up no malware. I did a system restore to a week ago, which seemed to work for a while, but the problem has started again. I'm looking for a solution other than installing an old version, if possible.

Mac app store driver update killed my printing

Printer: Envy100 (D410)
OS: Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8.2)
Printer was working fine prior to this morning when I was notified that there was an update via the app store. I installed the driver update and now all HP software will not see the printer. I have done the following:
* Downloaded latest software from HP and re-installed - no change, cannot see printer
* Uninstalled HP Printer software, rebooted, re-installed latest version - no change, cannot see printer
* Added the printer first via System Preferences-->Print & Scan (no problem there) then tried to use the HP Utility to see the printer - no change, cannot see printer
* Tried to set up the printer manually using IP address - still does not see the printer
All of this was working fine yesterday. I am now without the ability to print, other than by email using hpeprint.com.
I don't know how to remove the latest update that hosed me. Please help.
Edit: I should also note that all the PCs in my house have no issues. Nothing changed on the printer itself, the only thing that changes is the driver software on my mac.

Ok,
Reboot the router by unplugging it for 30 sexonds, then try following the HP Setup Assistant again.
If it still fails to locate the printer please let me know your router brand and model.
I now tested the Envy 100 using the latest HP Printer Drivers 2.12 and were able to print with no issues..

Which App is the Battery KILLER?

Same as many others, brand new iPhone 5 started one month after use to heat up and battery would drain regularly within 3 hours (yes, three). iOs and Apps all up-to-date and it was built on backup from my iPhone 4). Now here is what I did to try to fix it (in the order and in combination of all):
Close all apps
Block data transmission
Stop all notifications in notification center
Block all location services
Block all updates of emails
Delete all email accounts
Reset network settings
Reset whole iPhone
Restore whole iPhone
Nothing helped. Only when phone is off or in Airplane mode it does not overheat.
The GOOD NEWS, I went to Apple and they replaced with a brand new one apologizing for the hardware malfunction.
The BAD NEWS, the new iPhone 5 started to do exactly the same!!
So now I reset it to factory setting and "rebuilt" all Apps and logins etc. one by one by one ny one and it...it seems ok now.
Learning 1: must have been a software bug
Learning 2: Apple "wasted" another new iPhone 5 for a "hardware malfunction" which was not
Learning 3: Apple damaged the reputation of really good hardware for "errors" that were not.
But now the FIX: Is there a "Super App" or "Meta App" that monitors everything that is going on in the iPhone or iPad and can tell the owner what is eating away all the resources/bandwith/battery?
Even in good old Windows 95 you could prese CTRL-ALT-DEL and the check which processes crashed or took too much memory.
Should be relatively easy to write. Ideas anyone please?

have installed it and it shows interesting things: Apps that are running (like the Camera) when in reality it is supposed not to (i.e. not visible with double click home button) and lots of processes running (but cannot trace them back to Apps).
Unfortunately there is also no way to "force quit" anything.
Does anybody know of an App that actually can control this?
Apple should have built this in as a standard...
