App Notifications Greyed Out

Hi,
I recently noticed that I am getting no App Notifications (Toasts) in the top right of my main screen. On a closer look, I noticed that all the settings are greyed out and a notice stating: Some settings are managed by your administrator. I've never seen this
issue before.
This is just a home PC running Windows 8.1 Pro. Not connected to any domain.
Also, on the main start screen, the first app has a weird grey border around it:
Any help with fixing this would be great.
Thanks.
M Knight.

OK, I have fixed all issues. Took me a while but they are fixed.
After the terrible Windows 8.1 Update 2 sort of really messed things up, I was left with no choice than to do a complete format. On re-installation from my Windows 8.1 DVD and most of the basic applications, I noticed that I was getting the same issues, though
Microsoft have pulled Update 2
KB2982791.
At first I thought it may be because my settings were saved on my OneDrive account and that the downloaded settings may have included something from my previous problems or that the actual backup could be corrupted. So I deleted the backups and reset my system.
Still no change. I was so frustrated and I thought forget this so I decided to start getting my applications set up how I like them. So, I came to Bitdefender Total Security 2015 to set a few things up and I noticed that they have this new option called Profiles.
So I looked at them and their settings and low and behold, I had found what has been causing me so much trouble.
The profiles disable or turn off many of Windows automated features, supposedly to improve performance. So I disabled all the options and switched off the profiles. Everything is back to normal now and working great.
So, if you happen to use any Bitdefender 2015 products, disable this option. I contacted their support and told them of the issues as nothing in their documentation warns of what may happen from using the profiles.
So, problem solved.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help.
Mike.

  • Trying to update my apps...all apps are greyed out and say waiting.

..all apps are greyed out and say waiting. This has been going on for a day. I have reset my setting turned off my iPad and no changes

Maybe one of these suggestions will work. Ignore any that you have already tried.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • I have transferred my itunes to a new phone and all my apps are greyed out on itunes

i have transferred my itunes to a new phone and all my apps are greyed out on my itunes account, the apps still work fine on the phone

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone.  If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events.  Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

Hard reset helps (pressing two buttons at the same time until you see apple on the screen.

  • The + in the calendar app is greyed out and I can't schedule an event

The + in the calendar app is greyed out and it won't let me schedule an event. I have checked that my mail calenders are turned on as well as the iCloud calendar. Please help.

This is what I did to solve it: go to settings>iCloud> turn calendar off! and then on again, and voila!

  • Apps are greyed out when syncing

When syncing my son's iPod, the apps on the computer screen are greyed out.  The check mark is there, but it is greyed out as well so I am not able to select or deselect apps.  What it this and how do I fix it?

I solved it.  The restrictions were disabled so I enabled them.  The grey immediately went away.  Then after syncing I disabled them again so the little one can't download apps.
    Thanks anyway

  • Trying to turn on location services for running app, but all app names greyed out and won't change?

    Hi all
Would really appreciate a hand. I'm wanting to track my running using an app which uses GPS to follow my route. The app told me I needed to turn on location services for that app through settings > general > location settings. I can see the names of all the apps there (some set to on, some set to off) going through the privacy menu but everything is greyed out. How do I turn it on?
    Thanks in advance

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
    open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
    go to the device summary
    click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

    Hello AMfromWS
With OS X Lion, you do have what is called a Recovery HD and it will allow you to reinstall Mac OS X. You can also use Activity Monitor to check to see if iTunes is still open in the background and you can quit it.

  • Trying to install iLife 06 on MacBook Pro. Apps to install are greyed out.

I transferred all my files from a G4 PowerBook 17" to a MacBook Pro 17" just recently and accidentally overwrote the Universal Binary version of iLife that came installed on the MacBook Pro with the PowerPC version of iLife. I called Apple and they said to delete the old apps and then reinstall the new apps from the iLife 06 DVD if I can.
I have the install DVD, but when I go to "Customize" and attempt to install the apps, it greys out the main apps (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie HD and iDVD).
When I go to "Easy Install" it offers an "upgrade" option. I have since deleted the apps and there is nothing to upgrade.
    Please help me! Thanks!
    MacBook Pro 17   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Open the /Library/Receipts/ folder, move any receipts related to iLife and the iLife applications out of the folder, and try installing iLife again. Regardless of whether or not the installation was successful, move back any receipts which weren't recreated and throw away the ones which were.

  • CC desktop app greyed out, not functioning

For several weeks now, the CC desktop app is greyed out and shows no app updates (or anything else for that matter). Just downloaded and reinstalled. No change.
Works fine on another Mavericks updated iMac, but not on this older MacPro (too old to install Mavericks but not that old). I certainly hope that CC is not dependent on having Mavericks installed.

I too would like to know the answer to this!

  • Copied my iTunes library to new MacBook Pro, why are my iPhone apps greyed out?

    Hi,
Rather than migrate from an iMac that I sold, I decided to just start fresh on a new Macbook Pro. I did back up my iTunes library and copied it over to the new Macbook. I synced my iPhone and iPad 2 on the new Macbook but the apps are greyed out. When I click the sync apps box all but a few of the apps (I'm assuming the ones that are default with the iPhone and iPad) dissappear.
I'd like the ability to arrange my apps with the Macbook at times and like the idea that I have a backup of all my apps on my computer. I realize I'm backing them up in iCloud, but just sayin'.
    Thanks,
    Bo

Do I purchase an external hard-drive and transfer? Or should I just go and get a 32 GB Flashdrive? Anyone have any tips for doing this stuff?
assuming all your media files are in the default location, connect the two Macs with a firewire cable, boot the source Mac in Target Disk Mode, and copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the source to <MacintoshHD>/users/yourname/music on the target (overwriting the iTunes folder in place there).
So how can I turn off the library on my iMac and just make it two?
    you can't.
you'll have to wait until you reach the limit of five machines. then you can use the deauthorize all option, following which you can reauthorize those computers you currently use/have access to.
have a look at this support article.

  • App greyed out or unable to download

    Hi All,
I have built a ipa file on xcode 5 and my target architecture is armv7,armv7s. Some of the users are facing issues while installing the app.
When they are trying to load the ipa file via iTunes, the app is greyed out and shows 'installing'.
I also tried to install the app by providing a unique url on http://install.diawi.com/. While using the same, some users got an error message "Unable to download App".
The devices are mostly 4s and 5 running ios7.Let me further add that the issue is prevalent on a few devices and not all of them. We have checked the udids and they seem to be fine.
Any suggestions will be of great help

Try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed. if that doesn't work then you could try downloading the update via a browser : https://discussions.apple.com/message/16436025#16436025

  • Apps in iTunes window are greyed out

When I sync my iPhone 4S, and I select my particular phone in iTunes, then open the Apps window, my apps are greyed out and I can't manage them, e.g. adding, deleting, repaging, etc. I used to be able to do it with ease. And then it stopped. Could it have anything to with the Cloud? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Mike,
According to your description, the error occurred when accessing app in SharePoint Store.
Did this issue occur in other sites?
I recommend to configure the farm to allow internet-facing end points, and turning on the Internet-facing endpoints feature in Central Administration will show the apps in the SharePoint Store.
More information are provided in the link below:

  • Iphone 4 iOS 6.1.3 can't download apps (greyed out)

I have had issues with apps not allowing me to download with the app being greyed out in the itunes app store on my iphone.  I then tried to download to itunes on my pc & sync to my iphone.  When I sync it shows on the pc that it is on my phone but it doesn't give me the app on my phone.  It gives me an empty space on my screen for that app.  I am not sure why I am having these issues.  My husband has an iphone4 with iOS 6.1.3 also and he is able to download the apps that I am having issues with.
