App Rating Blog

OK, it may not be related to "Using the iPod Touch", but I've come to rely on this forum for help with my iPod woes. It's not really a woe, but I need you peoples help on rating apps for the iPod Touch. I need some ideas for reviews (preferable free apps) and I thought you guys would be able to help me out since you guys are iPod users, not a mix of iPhone and iPod and I need iPod apps, not iPhone apps. Thanks
And if you want to visit and see the progress so far: http://theapprater.blogspot.com/
Only three app reviews, but there are more on the way

To add more supporting evidence that the number of ratings were not updating
(1) The ratings for All Versions was also staying at 69 reviews / not increasing, which means it's not just "not enough ratings for current version". There were enough ratings.
(2) Finally today, the rating numbers are updated. It turns out the number of the current version is "72 ratings" and the number for all versions is "188 ratings" (including original 69).
     So the ratings were definitely not updated for these days. I am wondering if the number of downloads were not updated internally either? I had wasted a lot of money in promotion during these days while the app should have been in top 50 but it's not even in the top chart.

  • Feature Request- Professional app rating

    Hey. App rating is fickle sometimes. What if there was another rating beside the user rating with up to 5 stars as well, rated by BlackBerry or by approved reviewers who analyse apps thoroughly by solid standards? Trusted folks who look at all aspects of an app for design, usefulness, presentation etc. Cars have 2 kinds of reviews so apps could too. It would be especially valuable to a buyer and coveted by a vendor. Thanks guys.

    Myko,
    The ability to only include certain ratings in a Smart Playlist is already there.
    Your other suggestions sound new.  You can submit them to Apple via the Feedback page:

  • 17  app rating missing from my settings so I can't check it off

    17+ app rating is missing from my setting so I can't check it off.

    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Accounts
    select account, at bottom is delete account.
    This will remove the account, you may still have a security profile at Settings>General>Profiles. You should delete that as well.
    Once removed, all base Apple settings should be available.

  • Use blog module or web apps for Blog posts?

    We are considering whether or not we should use a web app or continue to use the blog module for our client's blogs.
    Is anyone using web apps for their blogs, and if yes, what is your feedback on it?
    Or could someone tell me if BC will fix the blog problems (in regards to SEO) within the next 12 months?
    Thank you.

    Bc Blog can still do well seo wise. Many get to OTT in that regard I feel.
    Blog I hope gets fixes but a web app just does not quite offer the features at this stage to make a good blog. Not till the new web app engine next year.

  • Good app for blogging site?

    hi all- i work for a band and am going to pick a new site for them to keep their blog. i've also seen some apps that advertise being able to upload blog entries and pics right from the phone. i'd love to use one of these and give all the band members access to blog something on the go. does anyone do this? recommend a blog that has an app like this that's easy to use? thanks so much!
    Lee

    Google blogs work really well with an iPhone. You mail a pic along with whatever text you want to a "secret" address and Google formats it the way you want and posts it to the blog, all without any additional fuss and bother at the iPhone end of the deal.
    Much easier to use on the road than most of the other setups.

  • Email web app rating feedback to customer

    We have business directory (customer submitted web app)
    Attached to the business information page (Web app detail page) is a rating feedback module (Comments)
    When customers provide feedback or rate the service (web app item), we would like an email sent to the customer (web app item owner) to notify them that someone has provided feedback/rated their service
    Comments on web apps are not moderated, so there is no opportunity to do something with workflow here
    Any ideas if this is at all possible and how to accomplish this?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Scott,
    You could create a web app which as a text (string) field in it for customers to enter the URL they want to redirect the customers to. Then place a JavaScript redirect inside the detailed layout, which would look like this:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    window.location = "{tag_your-url-field}"
    //-->
    </script>
    Give them access to secure zone, place a web app item creation form onto it and you're good to go.
    Cheers,

  • App rating

    Hi, I want to rate an app I bought. Previous advice on here says, 'go to the store, go to your app, scroll down to customer reviews.' But I am not seeing customer reviews! Just update history, developer info etc. help?

    Just underneath the app's icon in the store there should be 'buttons' (they just look like text) for Details, Ratings And Reviews and Related - tap on the Ratings And Ratings text and you should then be able to add a review (there should be Write A Review button between the summary of existing ratings and the reviews)

    JavaScript Object Model API.
    But the same code is not working inside apps and giving error:-
    If we are using app context than error will be:-

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to update list column in SharePoint hosted apps using JavaScript Client Object Model.
    Based on the error message, it seems not retrieve the list object in context. I suggest you debug the code step by step using Internet Explorer Developer Tools to
    find the problem.
    Here are some demos about using JavaScript Client Object Model in SharePoint hosted app:

  • SharePoint 2013 cannot view PDF documents in mobile browser with office web apps

    Hi,
    I'm receiving the following error when viewing SharePoint 2013 PDF documents in a mobile browser after clicking on the filename:
    "Viewing of .pdf files has been disabled in Microsoft Word Mobile Viewer. Please get in touch with your helpdesk."
    My Question
    Is viewing PDF documents in mobile browsers with Office Web Apps SP1 actually supported?  If so, how can I enable it?  I've already have pdf viewing working in non-mobile browsers. Word documents open just fine on mobile browsers too.
    I'm getting conflicting answers for pdf mobile viewing support from various sources:
    You've got Microsoft toting that they've added in PDF viewing on any device for Office Web Apps
    http://blogs.office.com/2013/07/03/pdfs-in-the-word-web-app/
    A MS support person saying saying it is not supported
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_web_apps_server_2013_support_blog/archive/2013/12/31/enabling-pdf-previews-in-document-libraries-with-office-web-apps-2013-in-sharepoint-2013-open-link-does-not-work-from-preview.aspx
    Another person implying that it should work because you can disable pdf browsing for mobile browsers only
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/07/24/control-whether-pdfs-open-in-word-web-app-or-the-default-pdf-reader.aspx
    What I've tried
    When I started looking into this there was a mobile WOPI entry:
    Application     : WordPdf
    Extension       : PDF
    ProgId          :
    Action          : mobileView
    IsDefaultAction : False
    ServerName      : 20SP8
    WopiZone        : internal-http
    I tried experimenting with tweaking this binding by changing the DefaultAction to true, and even removing it altogether via:
    Get-SPWopiBinding -Action "MobileView" -Application "WordPDF" | Remove-SPWopiBinding -Confirm:$false
    But I still get the same message.
    I removed all the WordPdf bindings and re-added them via:
    New-SPWOPIBinding –ServerName "<myserver>" –Application "WordPDF" -AllowHTTP
    No dice.  In fact the mobileview binding doesn't even come back... but I guess that is a different issue altogether.
    Version
    SharePoint 2013 (SP1)
    Office Web Apps Server (SP1)
    Farm Setup
    Internal facing only
    2 front end servers, 1 app server, 1 office web apps server

    I think the PDF support, if it exists, in only in Office 365. Always remember that the Office 365 and on premises versions will never be in sync. On premise is updated using periodic service packs and Office 365 has continuous updates. (I've heard every
    10 days.)
    In my Office 365 / IE 10 tests, the PDFs open in the browser's default PDF viewer, in my case FoxIt Reader. So I can't prove one way or the other about support in Office Web Apps.

  • Redirection error An error occurred while processing your request in provider-hosted app which is hosted in Windows Azure

    Hello,
    I developed one simple provider hosted app and I published it in my Azure website. I also published the SharePoint App of this solution in O365 site. I'm using Visual Studio 2013 Premium edition. I've followed all the steps to do this work e.g.
    generate the client ID and client secret through my O365 site and updated the AppManifest.xml as well as web.config etc. In my AppWeb project, I've TokenHelper.cs and SharePoint.cs classes.
    When I'm clicking the app from my O365 site, I get the following error "An error occurred while processing your request" which is due to the following code:
     protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e)
                Uri redirectUrl;
                switch (SharePointContextProvider.CheckRedirectionStatus(Context, out redirectUrl))
                    case RedirectionStatus.Ok:
                        return;
                    case RedirectionStatus.ShouldRedirect:
                        Response.Redirect(redirectUrl.AbsoluteUri, endResponse: true);
                        break;
                    case RedirectionStatus.CanNotRedirect:
                        Response.Write("An error occurred while processing your request.");
                        Response.End();
                        break;
    It's always executing the case RedirectionStatus.CanNotRedirect. Why?
    I've checked the method "CheckRedirectionStatus" of SharePointContext.cs class completely and I am not understanding why am I getting this error.
    When I browse my Azure website http://sitename.azurewebsites.net, even there I'm getting this error. I believe that error is because there is no query string parameter there e.g. SPHostURL etc.
    Please let me know why I'm having this redirection error.
    Thanks,
    Ashish

    Hi,
    For a better troubleshooting,
    I suggest you do as the following:
    Debug the code step by step to find the reason of the issue.
    For the remote debug your app from Windows Azure, you need to download Azure SDK:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/
    After installing the SDK, it will have “Attach Debugger” for Azure web site, you
    also need to set "Attach Debugger" to on in the Windows Azure Management Portal
    More detailed information about how to debug provider-hosted app:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/speschka/archive/2013/11/25/debugging-sharepoint-apps-that-are-hosted-in-windows-azure-web-sites.aspx

    SDF files are used by Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition. SQL CE is not supported for Windows Store Apps/Universal Apps. Only WP Silverlight Apps can use SQL CE. You will have to switch to a different database format.
    As far as I know the only DB currently supported for local deployment with Windows Store Apps is SQLite.
    This article gives an introduction on how to get started with SQLite in Universal Apps:

  • Sharepoint provider hosted app using angularjs

    I am working on a provider hosted app and trying to access the list item through REST call using angularjs. But I am not able to access the list. Is it possible to access the sharepoint list through REST call using angularjs in a provider hosted app?
    Below is the code for angular:
    var hostWebApp = angular.module('HostWebList', []);
    Service:
    hostWebApp.service('$SharePointJSOMService', function ($q, $http) {
        this.getListItems = function ($scope, listTitle) {
            var deferred = $q.defer();
            //First we must call the EnsureSetup method
            JSRequest.EnsureSetup();
            var hostweburl = decodeURIComponent(JSRequest.QueryString["SPHostUrl"]);
            var appweburl = decodeURIComponent(JSRequest.QueryString["SPAppWebUrl"]);
            var restQueryUrl = hostweburl + "/_api/web/lists/getbytitle('ListName')/items";
            var executor = new SP.RequestExecutor(hostweburl);
            executor.executeAsync({
                url: restQueryUrl,
                method: "GET",
                headers: { "Accept": "application/json; odata=verbose" },
                success: function (data, textStatus, xhr) {
                    deferred.resolve(JSON.parse(data.body));
                error: function (xhr, textStatus, errorThrown) {
                    alert("request failed");
                    alert(textStatus);
    //getting -1003
                    alert(JSON.stringify(xhr));
    //{"responseAvailable":false,"body":,"Header":null}
                    deferred.reject(JSON.stringify(xhr));
            return deferred.promise;
    Controller:
    hostWebApp.controller('HostWebListController', function ($scope, $SharePointJSOMService) {
        $scope.listItem = null;
        var listName = "IncomingEmail";
        var promise = $SharePointJSOMService.getListItems($scope, listName);
        promise.then(function (data) {
            $scope.listItem = data.d.results;
            alert($scope.listItem);
            console.log("came inside the promise success method");
        }, function (data) {
            console.log("Error " + data);
    Following javascript files I have included:
     <script type="text/javascript" src="/_layouts/15/sp.runtime.js"></script>
      <script type="text/javascript" src="/_layouts/15/sp.js"></script>
     <script type="text/javascript" src="/_layouts/15/SP.RequestExecutor.js"></script>
     <script type="text/javascript" src="/_layouts/15/init.debug.js"></script>
    angular.js included.
    I don't know what is the problem. Can anybody walk me through the problem. will be great help.

    Your REST request must be authenticated. So you must send the access token in the authorization header along with your request. The following link explains how you can get the access token when you using a provider hosted app.
