App Store app indicates new iWork upgrades available after upgrading

Using latest Mavericks on my new (2013) iMac and the App Store app continues to indicate I need to upgrade my iWork apps after I upgrade. Usually takes about 24 hours after I upgrade and then indicates "new upgrades available" for the iWork apps I just upgraded the day before. This only occurs with the iWork apps and has happ[ened several times.
Anyone have any idea how to remedy this?

Mine does the same thing for iMovie, except that it takes a couple of days. Sometimes re-indexing Spotlight will help and sometimes not.

  • App Store indicates new iWork is installed, but it isn't

    Hi all,
I had iWork '09 installed prior to updating to OS X Mavericks. After updating to OS X Mavericks, I went to the Mac App Store to update the iWork apps. The install seemed to go fine, but afterwords the iWork apps weren't in my Mac's apps folder but the Mac App Store did indicate that the new iWork apps were installed.
I did some research online and found potential solutions, but none of those worked: rebooting my Mac, uninstalling and reinstalling the iWork apps, creating a new admin account and trying to install the new iWork apps from that account, trying to install the new iWork apps from the Guest account, and using Cocktail to clear all my caches. The Mac App Store still indicates that the new iWork apps are installed, but none of them are in my apps folder.
I'm at a loss as to what to do next. If anyone has encountered a similar situation and resolved it successfully, I'd really appreciate it if you could post here what worked for you so I can try that.
    Thanks,
    Nikolaus

I found the reason I couldn't originally find the newly installed iWork apps was because they were installed on external drives which just happened to have folders named "Applications". Spotlight found them, I added them to my dock, right clicked on the iWork apps and chose the "Show in Finder" option. Two of the iWork apps were on one external drive and the other was on another external drive. I ended up just dragging them to my MacBook Pro's hard drive and deleting the ones on the external drives.

  • Why does Apple store insist I have one update available after I've installed it?

I've updated iPhoto on my Air to Version 9.4.1, which I assume is the most current version. Yet App store insists I have 1 update available (the "#1" continues to show both on the App Store dock icon as well as the update icon in the upper menu when I open the App Store icon.  Yet the only program I see that's  eligible for updating in App store is iPhoto 9.4.1, with the dim "Installed" indication at the far right of the screen.
Is this merely a temporary quirk that will eventually go away--or is it an indication that my install was defective or incomplete?
(My previous attempts to update were rejected because of insufficient space.  So I proceeded to delete duplicates and unnecessary items.  It's possible I fell short.  How can I know for sure whether the update was successfully completed?)

if i have to read any comment by matt n again i will throw up...in my mouth. i have gone all over google trying to figure out what the f ff did to me without my permission, i have updates turned off so there should be no prompting to restart, there should be a polite offer not a forced update. i am angry and so are a ton of people.
everytime i go to a new complaint, another angry fellow ff user there is matt n with his infuriating smiling little picture...telling me about the awesome safety and security of the new ff...ignoring that a supposed safe but ugly and unusable browser is worse than a customized, beautiful, well functioning browser...with supposed safety issues. i am so angry i cannot express how this has wasted my time. i have been online for 2 hours now figuring out how to fix, apparently i cannot. my old theme is not compatible now...so i am screwed.
good bye. if i wanted chrome i would have had chrome. but i have no choice now.

  • Why Encrypted Local Store (ELS) data created is not available after upgrading to AIR 3.4?

This is a known issue. Please see the official communication from Adobe.

  • Why am I not able to access the app store, itunes and safari since upgrading to Mavericks 10.9?

IT tells me they would have to revert to the old OS which they don't want to do or can't do? I have been two months without access. I am at a loss. any help or guidance would be appreciated. I work for state government and our servers are PC-based which I think where the problem is. Is there a work around to gain access to the app store, itunes and safari. The app store icon indicates I have updates available but I am stuck. Please advise.

I know safari is mac's native browser. Since updating to OSX10.9, I have not been able to open safari. Firefox works fine but I preferred safari. Safari just won't open, it acts like it wants to, but the progress bar goes about half way across and stops. What other information do I need to supply?
This is a very frustrating problem when I see that there are updates to apply, but am unable to open the app store to get them. I can't even see them.
IT, in my opinion, has almost thrown in the towel since they are more PC-based.I believe it is a connection problem but they have been unable to fix it. They blame mac for a hasty upgrade release that was not fully tested to see if there were any Mac/PC connection issues.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Actually, there seems to be a bit of a bug.  Encountered this with a couple of files my wife made.  The files were set to "open with" the new Keynote, but clicking the file brought up this error.  Right-clicking and selecting "open with..." worked correctly.  I can only assume the OS was attempting to open the file with Keynote '09 despite the file property setting.
Probably requires a Launch Services DB reset (although I haven't actually tried it on my wife's MBA yet...since she's still "working on stuff".  So I can't confirm if it will solve the problem).

  • Before upgrading my system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion I had taken a backup of iPhoto in my external drive. But now when I try to open that package, I'm directed to app store to buy new iPhoto. How can I retrieve my photos without buying iPhoto?

Before upgrading my system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion I had taken a backup of iPhoto library in my external drive. But now when I try to open that package, I'm directed to app store to buy new iPhoto. Why would apple install iPhoto by default with Snow Leapord and make us import all our photos in it at the first place, and now ask for money if we want to retrieve our photos back on mountain lion? What if they make contacts a paid app with the next OS upgrade, and then bully us to pay money if we want our contacts? This is something very dissappointing on Apple's part. I need answers here.

I fail to remember if the installer gave me an option to keep my applications.
The Mountain Lion installer will not delete applications. It will only mark applications, that are not compatible with your current system with a "forbidden" sign in the icon. And you cannot launch them.
Does your iPhoto icon in the Applications folder look like this?
Then your iPhoto version is incompatible and cannot run with Mt. Lion. If it is iPhoto '11, with a versionnumber starting with 9.x.x., you can upgrade it by downloading a newer version from the Apple downloads site  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1650.
But if you have 8.x.x, you need to buy an upgrade.

Problem now resolved as I upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.  Seems App Store doesn't like anything previous to 10.6.

  • Can't upgrade iPhone apps because store says they are "no longer available"

I checked for application updates for my iPhone in iTunes and a couple apps show up, but when I click "Download All Free Updates" iTunes gives an error: "the item you tried to buy is no longer available"
This makes no sense -- I tracked it down to two apps, "Feeds" and "SysMon" but here is what is weird. Both of those apps show new versions in the app store just by manually searching for them, there are clearly new versions in the store, and iTunes is telling me this, but I can't download them. Has anyone else seen this when trying to update applications?

Have you tried clicking the update buttons on each app separately? I have occasionally gotten some weird errors when using the "all available updates" button.

  • I just purchased Mountain Lion on the app store, put in new credit card and agreed to terms then nothing happend. How do I know if I purchased this upgrade?

I just purchased Mountain Lion on the app store, put in new credit card and agreed to terms then nothing happend. How do I know if I purchased this upgrade?

Sometimes if you make a purchase for the first time, use a new billing method (ie credit card) or the App Store terms have changed, I've noticed that you need to press the "Buy" button twice for the purchase to actually go through (ie, you press Buy, you agree to the terms, and you have to press Buy again). You won't get double-charged.
You can check if the purchase is actually downloading by looking in the Purchased tab of the App Store - the Mountain Lion installer will be there if it worked. If not, try the Buy button again.

  • I have a Mac i5 and need to download the application 'Numbers' but everytime I try to do so, it says can't do as the ver 2.2 for the app needs new software 'Snow Leopard'. I don't want to upgrade but dont know what to do??

If your profile is correct you're already on the final version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Sure it wasn't Lion it was asking for?
If that's the only version available on the app store, you'll need to source a copy of the iWork '09 DVD - not cheap now - only available via Amazon or eBay etc.

  • HT2204 cant get app store to update new id at purchase sighn in

changed in settings got all working good but at the last stage the email apple id is prefilled and it cant be changed
cant get app store to update new id at purchase sighn in

It obviously depends on what Mac you have.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • App store won't update iWork

I purchased iWork 9 on disc several years ago and recently upgraded to Yosemite. Now the App store has a prompt to upgrade iWorks, but when I try to do so it says that "This update is not available for this Apple ID."
I figured I needed to register the software so the App store would recognize that I own it, but when I choose "Register Pages" from the File menu, it simply sends me to the Apple main page. In any case, although I still have the software disc, but there doesn't seem to be any serial number on it. Any advice on how to get the App store to admit that my copy of iWorks is indeed mine?

If you skipped Mavericks or didn't register them with the Mac App Store while running Mavericks, click here and contact Apple.
