App Store Apps Stop Working After Sync
On my 3G, I have paid, downloaded & used 4 apps from the apps store. They have worked fine until synching. After Sync, the icons still appear on my phone but the appps no longer work.

I've had exactly the same problem, even though I did not play with the authorize/deauthorize stuff. The computer's always been running iTunes and has always been authorized, the only new thing was the iPhone 8GB. What happened is that one app was updated through iTunes (though all apps downloaded over the air). After that update (+sync) none of the "uncore" apps were working.
The solution that worked for me was effectively to download a new app over the air - filling the iTunes password again - and poof, all other apps were working again.

iPhone's great apart of that slight prob. Might try to update to iTunes 8 anyway.

Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.
Have you tried deletting the plists for MAS?

Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility) Repair Disk Permissions 2x. Then restart in Safe Mode and try both apps. Restart normally and post results.

I have the same problem with my New iPad.
It was fine until this afternoon when I upgraded to ios6.
I don't have the wifi issues that others have reported but my AppStore doesn't work anymore.
It's just the AppStore that won't work.
Though Purchased and Updates looks OK, "Featured," "Charts" and search all return no results - just a big gray screen in the middle. I've been walked thru a Restore by Support but nothing's worked so far. I've tried logging off and logging back on.
From what I can tell, everything else (iTunes, apps, etc) look ok.
Any other suggestions? -

IPhone 4 Apps stop working after sync
Everytime I sync my I phone my downloaded apps will not open. I can correct this by downloading another App but that is a pain. I want to be able to sync my iPhone and not have my app stop working.
I've just noticed the 'more like this' section on the right with similar problems and it appears to be a common problem with iTunes not being authorised so I have now done that and hopefully it'll be fine now. I just opened iTunes then went to store-authorise this computer.

Hello everyone,
Extremely frustrated to find that after plugging my iphone into my comp for the first time since i've had it (about 3 months). I knew I had a good reason for avoiding plugging my iphone into the comp, because I have 2 other ipods and hate the way itunes tries to take over and do everything. No, i'm quite happy to manual manage the files on it. Especially when irritating things like this happen.
So I plugged it in for the first time on Saturday, and guess what, now NONE of my apps work anymore. Seems to be a common problem that no one at apple cares to admit. (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8294502) this old thread details the problem I am having. Now the apps start to open and close and dont work. Awesome.
I would've been more than happy to eat humble pie if i'd done ANYTHING dodgy to this iphone, but I haven't, and apples OWN device controlling application destroyed the functionality of the device, which I now have to figure out how to fix myself. Of course, apple wouldn't have any documentation on this issue.
Its sad really as up till now Ive had a flawless experience with the device and enjoyed everything about it, mostly how it works so well and everything is easy to do. Extremely irritated about this - will be telling everyone who cares about this experience.
Now, apple, or more like apples forum goers, how do i fix what itunes has done???Three days and no response, 3 others mentionining same problem.
Apple clearly do not care about customers or have any interests in bug fixing their own software. This is clearly a widespread problem which has nothing to do with user software, the bug is in iTunes and apple dont even care to admit it or fix it. It doesn't even look like they monitor their support forums at all!
I was considering buyign a macbook. Ha ha ha. Good luck. Not anymore.
Have even called support and Apple are USELESS and I will not forget this experience, as will my friends.
My advice? Get an android phone... we all know that it will only take a month or two till google gets a much bigger app library. Hey and guess what - they'll let you maintain your phone manually if you want, and dont force you through some stupid clunky, resource intensive, bug filled program which makes everything stop working. Exactly what it did to me on first connection. -

Deselect Proxies if selected.
Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Proxies:
Click "Change Settings" button
The network preferences window for Proxies will will show up with "Proxies"
tab selected.
Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.

I have an iPhone 4S that I updated to iOS 6 while traveling in Brazil. Now, even though my Apple account was created in the U.S. tied to the U.S. App Store, when I open the App Store it automatically goes to the Brazilian App Store and pops up an error message that my account is invalid for use in the Brazil App Store because it is an American account. I've been using the App Store just fine for years from various countries as I travel. It has always gone directly to the U.S. App Store regardless of where I am in the world. Now it only seems to pull up the Brazilian App Store and not allow me to update apps or make purchases.
My question is has anyone else experienced this? Is it because I updated to iOS 6 while physically traveling in Brazil so the phone thinks it is a Brazil-based phone or is it a bug in iOS 6 that prevents you from using App Store while outside the U.S.? I haven't been able to test what it does when I'm in the U.S. as I haven't returned yet. All of my settings on the phone are in English and set up for U.S. settings - there's no setting in the phone set up for Brazil or the Portuguese language.
If this is because I installed iOS 6 while in Brazil, how do I fix that? Do I have to re-install iOS 6 while in the U.S.? If so, how do I trigger a re-install and what do I do in the meantime to use App Store while traveling? Is there a work-around that allows me to switch it from the Brazil App Store to U.S. App Store? My App Store icon quit working after downloading Lion. How do I reinstall or fix this?
I was so excited when I downloaded Lion on my Macbook Pro. Now my App Store icon doesn't work--it brings up an error message: App Store cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer...reinstall the application...etc. I checked for updates and my system is all up to date. Help?!
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -

Mac App Store Won't Work After Upgrading HDD
I'm on a Macbook Pro 2011. I had Mavricks. I downgraded my OS because I had hardware that wouldn't work with Mavricks. I also upgraded my HDD. I tried to open Mac App store but it won't open. The icon will appear on my dock and the App Store title bar appears, but all the opions in the menu are greyed out and not clickable.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -

Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again. -
Siri stops working after syncing with computer
I just got my iphone 4s yesterday. Everything was working great until i tried to sync my iphone with my computer and then Siri stop working. It kept saying that "i am having problems connecting to the network." If i restore my iphone it works great again until i try to sync it with my computer. Then Siri stops working again. Does anyone know why this is?
press and hold home button, siri pops up, then press the mic button to make it stop talking.
press and hold sleep button, untill you see slide to unlock (Do not slide though)
after that get rid of THAT message, and try siri again.

Effect of super() in JDialog constructor on focusability/modality
Hello again, this is a JFrame which calls a JDialog which calls a JDialog. Using super(...) in the constructor of SecondDialog makes this dialog unfocusable as long as FirstDialog is shown. Without super(...) one can freely move between the dialogs.
