App Store Asking Me To Sign Into itunes to Update An App

I've just tried to update an app on app store, when i click on 'update' it asks me to sign into itunes.
I put my password in and nothing happens, it then comes up again. My password is correct, but it just doesn't do anything!
Anyone had this problem?
One last thing, i've had a look around on my phone and i've noticed i'm not signed into itunes and app store on general settings.
Could this be the problem?
any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Mine started that too recently. Even this morning, I was web browsing when all of a sudden the password screen popped up asking me for my password. I didn't enter it and everything was fine but I removed my credit card info and changed my password from iTunes just in case.
There have been a lot of stories recently about bogus iTunes charges, so I feel better to be safe than sorry.

  • The APP store wants me to sign into itunes store and the default Apple ID it displays is wrong

    I have iPhone 5c.
    OS 8.3
When trying to get an update at the App store, the prompt says sign in to iTunes store but the default Apple ID it shows is not mine.
I can sync OK and access my account and everything else shows the correct Apple ID.
How do I get the default Apple ID that is displayed changed?

What that means is that the Application you were trying to update was either purchased or downloaded to that device by a different Apple ID.

  • App store asking me to sign into another account?

    Hello,
I have a lot of apps on my MacBook Pro that were downloaded with an old account ID. When I try and update those, it asks me to sign out of my current ID, and back into the old one to update.
However, when I log into the other ID and try to download, that doesn't work either.
It says "Please sign into the other ID to download", yet I am currently in that one!
    Can anyone help? Thanks!

Thanks Illaass. You know I couldn't think of any time that my wife purchased an app on my iPod, but then it occurred to me that she bought the device for me as a gift. iBooks was loaded on it at the time. Maybe somehow in those early transactions it became an app in her account -- or something. Anyway, I simply used her password (which she kindly gave me) to update.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • App store asks me to sign in constantly. why?

app store asks me to sign in constantly. why?

    Hello!
I suggest that if this problem is on your Mac, in order to solve this problem, we trash the /sc info/ folder using the Terminal command below:
Open a Terminal window - for example by searching for the word terminal via Spotlight (the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your computer display) - and copy-paste the line below:
        sudo rm -Ri /Users/Shared/SC\ Info/
Enter your password after pressing return. Note that your will not see that you're typing, so no stars or dots like: *** You'll have to enter the password blindly and press return once you’re finished.
After doing this, restart your computer, open iTunes and authorize one last time.
For your education, so you know what we’re doing: this /sc info/ folder stores your authorizations. So deleting the folder and restarting the Mac will force a fresh version to be created. This fresh version will not have any of the errors or corruptions which are probably causing this issue.

Because you bought them under a different Apple ID.

Are you using iTunes on your iPad or the actual program on a Mac/PC?
If you are using on your iPad check the ID being used by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store if the Apple ID displayed isn't yours tap it and select Sign Out then sign in with your own Apple ID.
If you are referring to iTunes on a Mac/PC select the Store Menu and check the Account Name next to the View Account text, if this isn't you select the Sign Out option directly above it then Sign In with the relevant credentials.

  • My iPhone3GS running iOS5 has recently been reluctant to upgrade Apps. The App store asks for my password and then marks all the Apps as being updated. Often only one or none actually update. Usually I get a message saying "Unable to download application"

My iPhone3GS running iOS5 has recently been reluctant to upgrade Apps. The App store asks for my password and then marks all the Apps as being updated. Often only one or none actually update. Usually I get a message saying "Unable to download application" and "<app> could not be downloaded at this time - Done or Retry".
It's not an iTunes login / password issue because sometimes one or two of the Apps will download and the others stall with the blank progress bar. The internet connection is working fine in all other respects.
Sometimes, many restarts later the downloads will complete. Is this a known bug? Is Apple working on it? Any fixes?

  • Why does a box asking me to sign into iTunes keep popping up?

Last night I logged on to buy something from one app.  It froze up on me.  When I went into one of my other apps purchases had been made.
Now I have the little box pop up asking me for my pass word.  But I wasn't trying to buy anything.

When you buy an app (or music, etc), that item is forever associated with the Apple ID that was used to buy it.  If you later change the connection to the itunes store (i.e. use a different ID) you will need to provide ID and/or password of the old ID.
Sounds like this is your problem.  Be sure your itunes store account is the old one.

  • App store tells me to sign into account I'm already signed into won't update

I am getting a message notifier in the App store that I have 3 apps to update.  I use my account all the time, normally it works fine.  I purchase apps through the app Store as well as through third parties.  Currently the ones to be updated were all purchased through the App Store.  This also occurs when I try to download/update Mavericks.
    I get a message:
You have updates available for other accounts.
Sign into [email protected] to update applications for that account.
The thing is, I'm already signed into [email protected]  I've tried signing out and signing back in.  I've tried rebuilding permissions.  I've tried rebooting.   I've tried jumpstarting the Index.  None of these things have worked.
If I go to Purchases section of the app store it will allow me to intall other apps I've purchased but not yet installed on this Mac.  Will not let me update Mavericks or my other store bought applications, no matter what I've tried.  I keep getting this message telling me to sign into my own account.  When I go to the Store menu at the top it shows view my account and shows that I'm already signed into the same exact email address that the App store is telling me I need to sign into in order to update.
Would appreciate any input to resolving this.

  • App store doesn't give me the option to update my app

I want to update Aperture, but when I go to the App Store it tells me "All apps are up to date".
I'm running an iMac, OS 10.6.8, current Aperture version 3.1.3 (latest version stated on App Store as 3.2.3).
I've tried downloading the update manually, but the updater doesn't work and tells me my version of the app must be updated through the App Store.
(This is especially annoying because I transferred my Aperture Library to a MacBook which has a newer version of Aperture installed and it reformatted my library to a newer version. Now I've copied the library back to the MacBook but Aperture won't open the library because it's a requires the newer version of Aperture!)

    Hi ..
Try deleting the current Aperture app you have then re download new. The best way to delete an app and all it's associated files is to use a utility like > Download AppCleaner for Mac - Uninstall your apps easily. MacUpdate.com.
    The re download ...
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Hopefully that will give you the latest version of Aperture.

  • I can't sign into game center and the app store?!

    Hi
I have a mac book pro which is about 1year and 2months old and I recently purchased and dowloaded the new mac osx mountain lion using the app store. I followed every step and agreed to all the terms and conditions. However now i cannot access the app store and I cannot sign into game center.
Firstly, when i open the app store it says 'cannot connect to the app store' but somehow it can tell me that there is an update available. I have never had the problem before.
Secondly, with game center I can open it but when I type in my apple ID and click sign in nothing happens.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi, bamboo64.
Try closing all open applications in multitasking and power cycling the device.  Once this is done test the results.  If the issue persists, I have included a couple troubleshooting articles that I would recommend going through.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

  • Whenever i want to update my apps the iTunes box pops up for you to sign in but the account it's asking me to sign into isn't mine and i do not know how to sign in using my account

The email that iTunes wants me to sign into is my mums which is weird because my mum has never touched my ipod so i don't why iTunes is asking me to sign into her account.
I've tried finding ways to change it but i can't seam to.
Another thing is that when i download an app, iTunes manages to get the email right and the box pops up with my email account and not my mums.
Please help me change this because i cannot update my apps.
    Many thanks

    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.
    To change the login
    - Go to settings>Store and sign out and sign into your account.
You may have apps purchased with her account that need updating.
