App store "Billing info" not funtioning
At the stage where purchasing requires that one check his "Billing Info", and the button is depressed...nothing happens. Tried this many times. I'm out of my registered time zone...might this be a problem?
Hi and welcome....
Open System Preferences - Date & Time then select the Time Zone tab. Make sure you have the correct Time Zone selected on the map.
Quit the Mac App Store if it's open.
Launch iTunes. Click Store from the menu then click View My Account then click Edit Payment Information. Make sure the Security code for your credit card is available then click Done.
Go back to the menu, click iTunes/Preferences then select the Advanced tab. Click Reset warnings and reset cache.
Restart your Mac.
See if that helped. If not, follow the instructions at this link and delete the cookies/caches and .plist files associated with the MAS. http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12899910

The application called VirusScan that comes preloaded on the macbook will no longer open, claiming that it is corrupt and that I must reinstall it. After looking in the app store it does not appear that said application is available for re-downloading. Is there a special, non-app store place where I am to go for this?

As for VirusScan, Barney is right on the money that it does not come preinstalled on any Mac shipped new from Apple. However you have gotten it, your best bet is removing it. I don't think that debit cards are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined. You could try contacting iTunes support but I don't think that you will be able to use it : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
If you don't have a credit card then are iTunes gift cards available in your country ? They are not available in all countries and they are country-specific (they can only be used in their country of issue), so you won't be able to use those from another country. -

I'm trying to re-install an earlier version of a third party app I bought from App Store, version is not available anymore. The problem, 3rd party does not recognize my purchase ID, since I got it from App Store. My Mac Air Book is limited to update up to OS 10.6.8, unaware of updating the new version of Mac Cleanse I bought from App Store, this new version does not support my OS 10.6. How can the App Store provide me with an earlier version of Mc Cleanse?

When trying to install apps from app store it does not prompt an apple id and after 15 minutes says "cannot connect to itunes store".
Your Apple ID may be greyed out because of restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions>Allowed Changes>Accounts. If you set that restriction, your ID will be greyed out. Nobody can make changes to the account without entering the passcode to change disable the restriction.
Maybe something in here will help, even though this is not exactly what you are experiencing.

It sounds to me like you are trying to get new content or update your apps but no matter what you do you are not being prompted for your Apple ID and password. I recommend first starting by signing out of your iTunes and App Stores in Settings > iTunes and App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the phone:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone, sign back into your account and try again:
