App Store Doesn't See Installed App

Hi Everyone,
I have the following hardware - iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 8 GB Ram.
This computer is over three years old, so this summer, I reformatted the hard drive, then installed Mountain Lion - I am running OS X 10.8.2
I reinstalled all of my apps but have noticed the following problems.  Any programs that I installed via the App Store, do not update themselves.  In fact, they don't show as installed.
For example, I purchased Final Cut Pro X and Compressor 4.  For the last two updates, FCPro X doesn't auto update.  For today, I saw that FCPro 10.0.7 was out.  I went to the App Store and clicked on updates, but it didn't show FCPro needing updating.
So, I went to Purchases, scrolled down, and saw that both Final Cut Pro X and Compressor 4 had "Install" highlighted - vs update.  This happened a couple months ago when I had to update both of these programs.
I am going ahead and reinstalling FCProX, but would rather have a fix that just installs the updates.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Marlo

I just tried that and got the message that "I don't have the appropriate permissions"
Some additional information ...
Before I reformatted my hard drive, I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then, before I upgraded the computer, I used MacWorld's technique of creating an install disc with an external USB drive.
I booted off of that drive, formatted and installed Mountain Lion.
In addition, when I go to the App Store, under Purchases, Mountain Lion's bar shows "Install"  And even though I just reinstalled FCPro X and it now shows the current version of 10.0.7, it also shows "Install"
Any ideas?  I'm thinking about just installing Mountain Lion again and see if that clears up the problem.

  • A1 - Lenovo App Store doesn't list installed apps or possible updates

This may be because of my inexperience with the Lenovo App Store, but whenever I start the Store app, I get an empty list of current and available apps. I did download and install Firefox cleanly, but no other installed apps are shown by the Lenovo Store app. I expected to find a list of pre-installed apps with potential updates to many of them. Am I missing something?
    Solved!

Thanks to both of you. I have used the Android Market with my Samsung tablet, and it is very easy to work with. I was just afraid that Lenovo had some exclusive apps in their Store that might need to be updated. Do you think it is worth the effort to uninstall the pre-installed apps and reinstall them from the Android Market to get automatic updates?
Yes, but you can't uninstall the pre-loaded apps unless you root the tablet. You can uninstall updates, but not the base app. I have not rooted my A1 and have no plans to do so. I am content with it the way it is. BTW I have a total of 166 aps with no problems. I would suggest you install anti-virus software (any of the free ones are OK), and look into a replacement launcher (I use GO). I suggest that if it sounds interesting, install it. You can always uninstall with no problem. I have moved any apps possible to the internal SD card. Can't install on the external card without rooting. I think that the A1 is the best sub $200 tablet out there.

    Hi Tahan007,
    Check these threads out:
Cannot connect to the App Store since upgrading to Mountain Lion.
Cannot connect to App Store since 10.8.1
why is my app store sign in saying connection failed?
Also if you're running any anti-virus SW, you might try temporarily disabling it

  • App store doesn't recognize installed software

Ok. I've upgraded to Lion. The app store STILL doesn't recognize software that's on the Mac, and this INCLUDES Apple apps. The only software that shows up as installed is Lion.

no it gets this error when I try to update:
why?? it has no sense at all! I'm an apple user for 10 years now; I loved apple for not doing this kind of windowsish errors!

  • App Store doesn't recognise iWork apps as installed in 10.6.7

After updating to 10.6.7, App Store no longer marks my Pages etc. as 'Installed' but instead lists the normal prices. Is there anything I should do to make sure updates will be installable?

The original Mac App Store app had a bug. The new version that is installed with the 10.6.7 update has fixed the bug.
The original version mistakenly recognized apps obtained through channels outside of the MAS as installed when it should not have recognized them. Only apps bought through the MAS should show in the MAS as Installed. Any apps obtained outside the MAS should show with a price and be available to obtain through the MAS.
Purchasing an app through the MAS makes that app eligible for updates through the MAS. If it was obtained outside the MAS then one would have to get any updates also from outside the MAS. But some developers are opting to use the MAS as their sole distribution channel from this point forward. If that is the case, then there would be no further updates available from outside the MAS.

  • App Store Mavericks issue - App Store Button Toggles between "Install App" button and "Free Update"

When I go to the app store and click on the "Free Upgrade" Button it switches immediately to the green "Install App" button.  Nothing is downloading in the background.  When "Install App" is clicked on it immediately goes back to "Free Download".
Currently running 10.7.5, 2009 Macbook Air, app store account is Canadian.  Currently located in Grenada.  Friends with other accounts (USA, Canada) have been able to upgrade without issue.

This has been happening for a few weeks now with no solution in sight. It seems to be an issue with the App Store, not the phone. You'll just have to deal with it for now. Use the search function on the right or just look through recent thread titles to see several other discussion on this issue.

  • App store doesn't clear updated apps

Using iPad Mini iOS7.  After accessing App Store and using Updates, download new apps, close app.  Reopen the app, recently updated apps still appear, now up to 12 apps.  How do you clear already updated apps in iOS7?
I have tried quitting app, restarting, recently updated apps still show
    Bill

I would just wait for it and see if it resolves itself. My iPad is constantly telling me that I have 3 updates, then when i click the update tab it says they're all up to date.
I'm wondering if it's a bug with the new 'automatic updates' feature in iOS7.
I don't think it's anything wrong on your end though.

  • App Store show update on installed apps

Strange behavier happened today I check my purchases list on App Store and i saw on some apps update status so i press Update but app say that I muss use my account to download them (i dont have any other so i delete this app) next i download that app again and after download still see Update on this app so there is some strange bug. Is that known bug or some permission problems?

Thank you, but does that mean they changed the App Store at the server and its; no longer compatible with older versions? Would they/could they do that w/o informing us? I had no plans to upgrade until the bugs are worked out...

  • App Store doesn't download any app

I struggeld until noon with the App store on my 2 MacPro. The pity was that it worked on my MacBookPro an my MacMini and I didn't have any clue what the problem was.
Today I finally called Apple support (it was the first time ever ...) and tried to solve the problem.
During the first hour we tried all the Standard-Fixes on my MacPro:
    - Fix permissions
    - Fix permission booted from DVD
    - Try it with the Admin Account
    - Try it with a new account
    - Try with another AppleID
unfortunately nothing helped. All the time I could download Apps on my MacMini and the MacBookPro.
The I was handed over to another Support Sepcialist (Frank Rolle) and we continued the following actions:
    - Booting in save mode
    - Cleaning App Store (Item in Application, /Library/Caches, ˜/Library/Caches, ˜/Library/Application Support/App Store/, ˜/Library/Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist, ˜/Library/Preferences/com.apple.storeagent.plist), Reboot, Installing 10.6.6. Combo Update
    - Installation of a Clean Snow Leopard and the 10.6.6 Combo Update
Looking at the logs Frank Rolle found there strange Errors from Paralles and VMWare Extension concerning the network. That was the time, I realised, that I have a bonding on my MacPro (wehn I have 2 Ethernet I like to use them ...) and thought that this could be a problem.
After disabeling my bonding an switching to AirPort my App Store suddenly worked as expected. What a happy moment!
Then I decided to force this problem on my newly installed MacPro by enabling bonding and then the App Store didn't work anymore.
Actually I'm informing Frank Rolle with the need infos that the developers can look into this problem.
My personal workaround is that I enable AirPort whenever I like to use the App Store. My AiPort is the first network device so I can quickly enalbe it, download in App store and switch back to normal operation by disabling my AirPort.
    Hope this helps anybody ...

Sounds like you might have an unstable or very slow data connection.

  • I changed my Apple ID online and in my iphone, but when I go to the app store and try to install apps it asks for the password to my old ID. How do I get this to stop?

Just like the description above. Changed my Apple ID online and in the phone, but when I go to the App Store it asks for the password to the old ID. Then when I put the password in it says that it's incorrect.

Go to settings>store and make sure the new apple ID is logged in at the bottom of the page.
If not, log out of the old one and sign in with the new one.

  • App panel doesn't show installed apps.

I had to reinstall Creative Cloud and it doesn't recognize all my already downloaded apps. The OPM.db fix mentioned here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/apps-panel-reflect-creative-cloud.html
didn't work. Trying to avoid having to uninstall then redownload multiple apps.

The problem wasn't that the programs were listed as up to date but that
they were listed as uninstalled. After reinstalling CC I went ahead and
told CC to install everything again and that seems to have worked. I was
worried that it would install a second copy but it either noticed it was
there, or replaced what was there. Additionally, it seems to have retained
my preferences and workspace settings, so I'm in good shape now.
For what it's worth, I'm on OSX 10.9.1. Not sure what you mean by system
optimizers, I have a few little login items/utilities but nothing major.

I want to install os x lion but the app store doesn't offer a 'buy' option. Any ideas ?

Do you see a price next to Lion ($29.99 or local equivalent)? Click that to purchase and download it. You'll have to sign in if you're not already.
Also, your profile is wrong if you don't already have Lion (which IS 10.7).

    HI ..
The only way to reinstall OS X on a Mac already running v10.9 is to use OS X Recovery.
Starrtup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the startup disk and reinstall OS X.

    Is your data backed up?
Are you running any non-Apple system optimization tools?

Are you expecting to see the apps that you can see on the iPad, on the Mac?
iOS apps which run on your iPad and use the iOS operating system, won't run on your Mac, which usues a different operating system, OS X.
