App Store Error Since Upgrading

Hi. I upgraded to Mavericks last night from Mountain Lion.
Now, whenever I run the App Store app and click on Updates, I get the following error:
"The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “swscan.apple.com” which could put your confidential information at risk."
It's happening every time. Should I be worried?

Yes, certificates are used to establish secure connections between you and Apple.
If you don't use certificates correctly anyone 'in the middle' may see all your traffic or an attacker could even be pretending to be Apple. If you sign in the attacker then has your iTunes login details & can use your real account to make purchases.
Fraud is a very real threat. iTunes also handles your email with the same password it is incredibly important to protect the password (especially if you use it for other accounts like Paypal, Amazon, Ebay etc).
Part of the process relies upon accurate time settings, so ensure your Mac is set correctly, preferably use a Time server (System Preferences > Date & time).

Media write error since upgrade to mountain lion

9 out of 10 burns result in "failed due to a media write error" since upgrading to Mountail lion. Have also used a wet system cleaning disc that usually does the trick for my CD players. Have tried much slower write speeds - no help there.

I would recommend this troubleshooting from the article OS X Mountain Lion: If an error message appears while you’re burning a CD or DVD found here http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10868
Use blank discs that are rated for the burn speed of your drive, or consider using a different brand of disc.
Specify a burn speed that is lower than the maximum speed rating for your optical drive.
Quit all open apps you’re not using.
Restart your computer and try burning the disc again.
If your startup disk is nearly full, try to free up space on it. The amount of free space on the startup disk needs to be greater than the amount of data you’re burning. Erase unnecessary files. Back up files you don’t use often, and then remove them.
Repair your startup disk with Disk Utility. For more information, see this topic in Disk Utility Help:Repair a disk
If needed you may also want to reset the SMC on the computer as well.

1. Tap "Settings"
2. Tap "iTunes & App Stores"
3.Tap "View Apple ID"
4. Enter your user name and password.
5. Tap "Country/Region."
6. Tap "Change Country/Region"
7. Select the region where you will be located.

I am not sure what you mean by "Flash Player for steam"; the only Flash Player installers I know is the ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and the plugin (for other browsers); you can find both at http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

It started when tryung to update Twitter. Now the problem is with every app I try to update or download.

I have this issue as well. The App Store icon indicates there are updates available but when I open the app a popup says it can't connect to the store and the screen remains white. I have tried a hard reset (power & home button) and several other suggestions I have found throughout the forums here without success.

I would complain really bad and get them to give you a Flash card that they just came out with because they've inconvenienced you so much and you don't have hours to spend at the apple store waiting for the whole thing to load.
The only thing about the flash cards is that it will change your whole motherboard so it won't allow you to install snow leopard or anything less, ever again. (as what the apple specialist told me over the phone).
I would also suggest waiting. It really isn't worth the hastle and you may not benefit from installing it on your old computer... just a thought.

Try here first > Mac App Store: "An unknown error occurred (100)" when purchasing
If that doesn't help, try the following:
Disable anti virus software.
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall
If that doesn't help, open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now here:
~/Library/Preferences
Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
com.apple.appstore.plist
com.apple.storeagent.pllist
Now here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store.
