APP Store Icon indicator - What is New?
when i get an indicator on the app store icon that something is new, i open the app and nothing is specific about what is new. i want to get rid of the indicator or look at the offering. I can't if i don't know what is new ... how does this work?
It isn't indicating something new, it is indicating that there is a update for an app on your Mac and it should be listed in the Updates pane.

it's not possible to delete build in apps from ios devices
unless one somehow alter the firmware in a jailbraking way
so 1 out of 3 things are likely
1 you put it in some folder and it's still hiding there
2 you remove it by adding it to restrictions in settings->general->restrictions
3 something is rotten in the stake of the Ios firmware memorymap and doing a reboot of the ios device will solve it -

Be sure to look closely for the app in all of your user created folders. -
How do you access updates to apps from the App store after changing to a new ID because the password on the old ID was changed by the former husband and you don't know what it is now? And you set up your own new ID and account but can NOT access the updates, from the App store for the many apps that you already have, because they require that you sign in with that former now inaccessible ID and account and password? Call it a problem of modern times and changing relationships, if you want to be charitable.
So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.

In the future, if need be, you can re download your purchases for free > Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

I need help please. I have 6 apps updates shown on on the upper right corner of the app store icon. When i tried to open the apps store and go to updates, the apps that need to be updated were not appearing therefore i have no idea what those apps are so that i can update them. You cannot delete the App store App. It is somewhere on your Home screens, or you have dragged it into a folder. Any folder. If all else fails Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. -
I just updated my iPad 2 with iOS 6 and noticed my App Store icon is gone! What happened to it?
Yesterday I updated my iPad 2 with to the iOS 6. I cannot find my App Store icon! And even tried googling something (like Skype for ipad) where it will send you to the App Store to download the app and it wouldn't take me to it. What's going on?!
Check the Restrictions settings and see if "installing apps" has been inadvertently turned on.

New iPhone 4 -- App Store Icon Missing - Help!
My friend recently got one today. And shes telling me that the App Store icon is missing.
She already
1) Checked all the pages to make sure it wasent there
2) Its Version 4.0.2
3) Turned the phone off and turned it back on
4) Went into settings and restrictions and its on "On"
Anyone can help? I was gonna tell her to do a restore but then she would have to back up her phone and if she did and backed the restore from the back up that it may bring along the problem again. On the other hand, if she does a simple restore with no back up, shes gonna lose all her contacts.
What should she do?Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout...see if you see it now.

Apps store icon no longer available, book shelf will no longer access the store, and my mac pro will not sinc apps with my iPad. What's up?? How do I correct? This is after upgrading to iOS6 and Mountain Lion.

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Hi my daughter managed some how to delete the app store icon from my home screen and I cannot seem to be able to find it can anyone help
The App Store app cannot be deleted (it also can't be downloaded and isn't part of any backup, so ignore the other comment) so either she moved it to another home screen, dropped it into a folder, or turn off "Installing Apps" in the General/Restrictions settings.
If you check Restrictions and Installing Apps is turned on and you can't find the App Store app otherwise, you can go to the General/Reset area and reset the Home Screen Layout. That should get it back.

App Store icon for updates needed is incorrect
The App Store icon on my phone shows that I have apps to update. When I click on the icon to install them, there are no updates to install. The number of UNneeded apps is always '3'. For example, the icon will show that I need 3 updates, when I check there are none to install. If the icon shows 5 updates, when I check there are only 2 to update. This just started happening shortly after iOS 7 was released; I have not installed it, nor do I plan to install it anytime soon. What is causing this? I took a picture showing the icon indicating 3 updates needed and the update page being blank, and I can post it if desired.
I've seen reports of this happening when updates have been issued for apps that make them only work on iOS 7, users of earlier versions of iOS get notified that there are updates pending but when you actually go into the app store updates function it realises they don't apply to you because you are on an earlier version of iOS than what the new versions require.
In fact I just had a very similar experience on my iPod touch with iOS 6, in App Store app it flagged 7 app updates in red badge but when I clicked on the Updates button it only listed two apps to update, once they'd been applied the outstanding updates badge disappeared. -

Can't find my mac app store icon
It used to be in my dock. I searched for it, can't find it.

Anybody know what search term I need to find it?Go to your Applications folder and drag the App Store icon (not the app) to the Dock.
Or launch the App Store from the Applications folder then click and hold the new App Store icon in the Dock then click Options > Keep in Dock. -
Why is App Store Icon Showing Update Needed?
My App Store icon at the bottom of my desktop is showing I have 1 update available. When I go to the App Store the update is for an App that already has the most recent update (SmartReporter). How do I get rid of that annoying update (1) notice?

I had the same problem. App store alerted me of the iMovie update. I updated shut down and restarted, the update was reflected in the last 30 days, and it also indicated that I needed to update iMovie, having the red indicator. I checked my applications and I had the iMovie 9.09, and the current iMovie version. I deleted Both the older version, and the newer version of iMovie, emptied the trash, closed all open programs, and then pressed the off button to shut down. Waited 30 seconds and pressed the on button, waited for everything to load then click the apple in the top left ,click on software update and the red indicator was GONE. Although I have never used the application, in my compulsive nature I just downloaded it again and no red indicators. I hope this helps my fellow Apple User having the same problem : ) -
Suddenly I have a 1 in a red dot on my App Store icon on my dock. What is this? How do I remove it? This red dot does not appear on the App Store icon in my apps folder.
It means you have an update of a purchased app waiting to be downloaded.
Once you download the badge will go away.
The badge only appears on the App Store icon in the Dock.
Kind of like the new message badge on the Mail application in the Dock.
