App Store Icons all the same
After going to 3.1, all the App Store "Categories" have the same icon, and the same text "App Store" , and when selecting any of these, the content seems to all point to the Games category.
Cause / reason / solution ??
We definitely have to make this an issue. I'm guessing we're not the only ones..... It happened right after I installed a new app. Then all of a sudden all the icons and titles under the category tab became the same. And they all point to games. Sometimes if I loaded a different application then went back to the app store it would work. But not it fails 100% of the time

Is the address on your account based in France ? The language of the stores should reflect the language of the country where your account is based, which isn't necessarily the same language as you've set on the device.
If your account isn't based in a French spealing country, then try logging out of the account (via Settings > Store) and then log back in (and also make sure that your address is correct and complete), and see if the language of the iTunes and App Store the reflect the language of the country where your account is based. -
I can't get to download the app store after all the updates. I have version 10.6.8 and there are no more available updates for my operating system.
Look in the HD/Applications folder.

I am trying to upgrade to Lion. I just loaded the snow leapord onto the computer and accidently removed the new mac app store icon from the dock and now I can't find it. I guess I need it to buy Lion. How do I get it back? It's not in the mac HD apps file. Thanks
Should be in the Applications folder as "App Store", not as "Mac App Store".
Check first in the Applications folder accessible via that named item in the Dock (also accessible at (hard drive) > Applications).
If it's not there, it may be in the Applications folder for your user: (hard drive) > Users > youraccountname > Applications. -
I updated my mac 10.8 to mavericks but after installation the app store ask for the same software update again..i have a slow connection..i cannot install it again and again..what should i do?
In case you are not aware, Mavericks requires a high speed broadband connection.
In the event you need to restore or repair the starutp disk, OS X Recovery also requires a broadband connection as noted here > About OS X Recovery

15Mbps or less, you may not be able to install Mavericks or use OS X Recovery. -

Check in All Folders and on All Pages/Screens...
Check in Restrictions...
Settings > General > Restrictions
If no joy...
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen -

Removing the App Store won't help. Boot into Safe Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455 and try the download again.

How can I install an app from the App Store to all the iMacs in my lab?
Hi,
I'm using ARD to administer an iMac lab. I know how to install packages using ARD, but App Store apps require an Apple ID. I want to install free educational apps (not paid) on every machine in my lab.
Should I make a new Apple ID for myself as administrator, or for the school? Or can I use my own?
How do I automatically install an App Store app on every computer? Do I have to manually enter my Apple ID and password on every machine or is there an automated way, as with packages?
The current version of ARD (3.6) doesn't seem to have been updated with the App Store in mind. There should be a way to enter my credentials and automatically "sign" the apps, then deploy them with one click like regular packages.
Or, is there a limit to the number of seats that can run an app downloaded under one ID, even with free apps? In that case, how the heck do I get a free app installed on every machine?

Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software. (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.) The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance. I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers. When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install. We did! But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them! -
I get the message "Your Apple ID has been disabled." when I try to download to my iPad a subscription paid magazine (The Economist) from the App Store. For what it's worth, the same Apple ID was accepted when I joined this Discussion Group. What must I do to get my ID enabled? I have been unable to find any explicit instructions online. Thank you.
Gordon Baileyi have had the same message when i wanted to download an app. I have had to reset my pasword and its been fine, but it has happened twice in the last two weeks!!! Still not sure Why its happened???

Has anyone any experience of the app store constantly downloading the same update?
I have recently upgraded to Yosemite, but I do not think this issue is related to the new OS. I was rather hoping the new OS would cure the problem but it has not. For sometime now my iMac would download the same app update twice, after the second time it seemed to be happy and would not download the app again. But the latest iTunes update always appears under updates and shows as being updated four times to the same version!
Very frustrating. The screenshot shops three updates already to 12.0.1 of iTunes and it is also telling me 12.0.1. needs updating! Anyone got any ideas about this please?Same problem here. It is constanly downloading Aperture, iPhoto and iWork apps

I can't get rid of the little number 1 on the app store icon.
The app store icon has the little number 1 on it referring to an iMovie update which unfortunately I can't download because I don't have the latest OS. Why doesn't the little number disappear after I try to update and get told I don't have the right OS? Is there some other way to get rid of it, or will I live with it for the rest of the life of my MacBook Pro?
Sometimes hiding the app helps. Go to the Mac App Store, sign into your account and check the Purchased pane. Click the X next to the Button for the app in question and the app will be hidden in your account purchases history. The update flag may not disappear immediately, but it will usually eventually.

Why is App Store Icon Showing Update Needed?
My App Store icon at the bottom of my desktop is showing I have 1 update available. When I go to the App Store the update is for an App that already has the most recent update (SmartReporter). How do I get rid of that annoying update (1) notice?

I had the same problem. App store alerted me of the iMovie update. I updated shut down and restarted, the update was reflected in the last 30 days, and it also indicated that I needed to update iMovie, having the red indicator. I checked my applications and I had the iMovie 9.09, and the current iMovie version. I deleted Both the older version, and the newer version of iMovie, emptied the trash, closed all open programs, and then pressed the off button to shut down. Waited 30 seconds and pressed the on button, waited for everything to load then click the apple in the top left ,click on software update and the red indicator was GONE. Although I have never used the application, in my compulsive nature I just downloaded it again and no red indicators. I hope this helps my fellow Apple User having the same problem : ) -
App Store icons at top Not Active
After updating my 15 inch mac Book Pro mid 2009, the app store icons at the top of the window are inactive. I can still 'tab' between the different sections with command-1,command-2. The icons are grayed out like the window is not selected, however all the other window controls and content are active. Puzzeled on this one.
Would you post a screen shot of a message so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply using the camera icon. Copy and paste doesn't work.

I restored my iPad2 yesterday, and the Apps Store icon was there. Then I synced all the apps, music, books, and re-arranged the icons through iTunes, placing the App Store icon in the main "dock". But now, the icon went missing... Any ideas what might have happened? I haven't tried syncing it again...
Thanks for your replies! :)Duh....... It's kind of embarrasing..... I got it back..... I had placed a restriction on purchasing and deleting Apps (in the General Settings), so that made the icon "disappear".... Must be the "blonde" in me!!! ;P

One of my kids was using my mac and thought that the app store icon and the itunes icon were the same. So thinking I didn't need a duplicate on the dock he deleted the app store icon.
I thought I would find it in the applications folder in finder ---not! So where do I look for it??Your 1st post says you’re using Mac OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard, but you posted under OS X 10.5, Leopard. 10.5 doesn’t have access to The App store.
