App store insists that I update the Twitter app even though I've uninstalled it

I first downloaded the app using an old account, now I just want everything aligned to my new account.
Thing is, as soon as I give in and update it using my old account details, I'm told it needs updating again.
It's not a big deal but it's doing my head in. Help!
BTW, I tried talking to Apple support about this but frankly they were useless. I don't think any of them understood what the problem was.

Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash then restart your Mac.
Try the App Store.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

Are you trying to update on the phone or update with the phone connected to the computer? are you connected to wifi?

, not .Net's System.Threading.ThreadPool.

Is there a way to make the update recognize the new computer so that my content will be kept?

The best option is to copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527. This will allow iTunes on your new computer to recognize and sync with your phone without deleting content. You will also need to copy over any other synced data not in your iTunes library such as photos synced to your phone, calendars and contacts.

On your iPad and iPod touch tap Settings > Store
Make sure Music is switched On under Automatic Downloads.
Now restart your iPad and your iPod touch.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

All downloads from iTunes are tied to the account that downloaded it, you can't re-download content via a different account. You checked the spam folder on yourr old account as well as the Inbox, and depending upon how long ago you did it, have you retried getting it reset : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password' ?
