App store is showing updates available

My App Store is showing that 2 updates are available but then states that there are no updates. I cannot get rid of this, no matter how many times I have tried

  • App Store icon shows updates available, but all apps up to date

Just bought Iphone 5c, second day, App store icon shows updates available, but PC, store and other Iphones show none.  Tried resetting, updates to ios 8.02, synching, going through each app individually to see if there is an update, no luck.
Wnen I reset, the icon shows a badge with 7 updates available.  I opened App Store, bottom right (update icon) showed the same.  Tapped it, the update screen appears (as normal), and the 7 on the update icon disappeared, screen says UPDATES All apps are up to date.  However, on the home screen, the App store badge still shows 7 updates.
Anyone else having the same prob?  What is the fix?

Tried that, tries a soft reset, and a hard reset, no luck.  Funny thing is, my other iphones and IPad work fine, its just the Iphone 5.

  • App Store keeps showing update for program that has been uninstalled

The App Store keeps showing an update available for Virus Barrier Express even after I have removed it completely from my system.  Going into the Purchased list shows it is not installed.  When the application was installed it always said there was an update.  No matter how many times you clicked Update and allowed it to download and install the update, the App Store still showed the update needed to be installed.
On another machine it constantly shows an update for one of the installed applications but clicking the update button doesn't clear the update once it's been downloaded and installed.
Deleting the App Store preference hasn't resolved the issue.  Enabling the debug menu and using the Reset Applications option has not either.

I found out what was causing my problem (can't re-install an app that I deleted and which was purchased from the App Store). The app I was trying to re-install under Lion was Apple's Compressor v4 which is only available through the Mac App Store. However, even though I was booting from my one-and-only copy of Lion the Mac App Store was apparently getting confused by an old copy of Compressor v3.5 that was installed on another boot disk that I maintain for Snow Leopard. I'm running on a quad-disk Mac Pro so all four disks mount whenever I start the system. In any case, all I had to do was unmount the other disks and the Mac App Store then allowed me to install Compressor v4 on my Lion system.
The reason I was able to pinpoint this solution is that I wanted to run another Mac App Store app (Find Any File) and even though the Store said it was "Installed" I couldn't find the application in either the Lion Application folder or within LaunchPad. I then realized that the App Store was referencing the copy of that app that was stored on my Snow Leopard disk and unmounting that disk finally allowed me to install both Compressor v4 and Find Any File on my actual/current boot disk (i.e. Lion).
Now, the odd thing about this problem is that Compressor v4 wasn't installed on any of my disks, it was the older version of Compressor (v3.5.3) that apparently was preventing me from installing the new version 4 on my Lion system. In fact, Compressor v3.5.3 crashes immediately under Lion so that version of the app isn't even usable when I'm running Lion.
So, if you're having a problem with installation or app removal or updates from the Mac App Store try dismounting any other disks which you might have attached to your Mac and see it that solves your problem. If it does solve the problem then you can almost be assured that the cause of your difficulty is some file that is present on one of your other disks (i.e. app may not even be on your current boot disk).

  • ITunes - App Store - There are updates available that ain't available?

First of all, I'm starting to think that the iPhone ***** big time, but that's a whole other story...
So, here's my issue: Apparently there are updates to my applications available. So says iTunes and also the App Store app on the iPhone, both of them reporting the same number of apps available.
I'm quite sure that there was a button to "update all" on the iPhone on 2.0.1 and 2.0, but that seems to be missing? (but not the point anyway)
Then, in iTunes, the applications view tells me that there are updates available. When I click that link on the lower right that usually redirects to the update page, iTunes tells me that there are no updates available for my account?!
How can that be? Either there are or there ain't.
Is there a way to fix that problem? I would have updated the applications trough the iPhone, but as there are many (44) and I would have do update them one-by-one, I'd like to go an easier way...
I'm really patient, but I start to hate my iPhone. As it is now, it is just a ******* expensive piece of junk. :-((

I have fixed a similar issue in my iTunes. Here is my thoughts on why it happened and the fix.
I had recently added a second computer w/ iTunes with which my iPhone is now synching. I wanted to move my music library synching from work to home.
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I was synching:
    Info, Contacts
    Info, Calendar
    Ringtones
    Music
    Podcasts
    Video
    Applications
On the 2nd PC (@ Home) I began synching:
    Ringtones
    Music
    Video
Applications (this nicely caused all of my iPhone Applications to be copied to this PC, in case of a need for a restore from home)
After beginning synching on the 2nd PC (@ Home), I disabled synching on 1st PC of:
    Ringtones
    Music
    Video
Applications (This apparently caused the issue)
The issue with phantom updates was showing up on the 1st PC (@ Work), but I was not synching Applications here. Apparently, I had updated some Applications from the 2nd PC (@ Home) and iTunes detected this and saw a need to show that my iTunes Applications needed updating. Something not in synch between iPhone - iTunes - App Store I believe.
    The Fix:
On the 1st PC (@ Work) I enabled synching of Applications and then performed a synch. The phantom updates went away. I noted during the synch that my iPhone apparently updated some of the applications in my iTunes library.
I hope this helps or enlightens others having this difficulty.

  • App Store not showing updates

When I got to "Updates" in the App Store on my iPhone, it nearly always says "All Apps Are Up to Date", but I've discovered through individual searching that a number of the apps that I have installed have updated versions available. This is pretty frustrating, since I don't want to (and shouldn't have to!) regularly go through and manually check for updates for all of my installed apps. Is there anything that can be done to get the App Store to correctly check and display when updates are available?

Mine is even more bizzare. I'm getting the same problem as you guys where the app store on my iPhone does not seem to be able to detect new updates. To add even more grief, my app store icon on the phone is still showing the number counter with the number 3. Basically that was the last time it was able to retrieve three apps requiring updates and then after updating, the update feature ceased to function and the number has not reset itself.

  • Why is App Store Icon Showing Update Needed?

My App Store icon at the bottom of my desktop is showing I have 1 update available. When I go to the App Store the update is for an App that already has the most recent update (SmartReporter). How do I get rid of that annoying update (1) notice?

    2011 MBP i5 Mavericks
I had the same problem. App store alerted me of the iMovie update. I updated shut down and restarted, the update was reflected in the last 30 days, and it also indicated that I needed to update iMovie, having the red indicator. I checked my applications and I had the iMovie 9.09, and the current iMovie version. I deleted Both the older version, and the newer version of iMovie, emptied the trash, closed all open programs, and then pressed the off button to shut down. Waited 30 seconds and pressed the on button, waited for everything to load then click the apple in the top left ,click on software update and the red indicator was GONE. Although I have never used the application, in my compulsive nature I just downloaded it again and no red indicators. I hope this helps my fellow Apple User having the same problem : )

  • Why does App Store icon show updates ready, but no updates show on update tab

My home screen started showing that I had updates on the App Store icon, three days ago. Next day it showed three, then four and now it shows five updates, but when I go to Updates tab, I get just blank screen.

There are a number of threads on this topic, not only for iPad but for iPhone as well. Appears to be an issue on Apple's side (not on our device). Not all users are being effected (I've had no issues whatsoever, for example). Nothing specific to this is reported on the Sytems status page (http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/), so the general assumption is that you need to wait it out.
You might try a search to see if there any possible solutions or steps needed to re-establish the link to itunes/app stores. Sometimes after this sort of outage there are some actions that help get you reconnected more quickly. not sure if that is the case with this one.

  • Mac App Store not showing Updates or Purchases

After upgrading my Mac OS to Yosemite, my App Store isn't showing anything under the "Updates" tab (It did some automatic updates in the background, so the number of pending updates dropped from 13 to 2).
Although I have already signed in to Mac App Store, it says:"You must sign in to view your purchases" under the "Purchases" tab. "Sign in" is a clickable link but when I click it nothing happens.

I'm having the exact same problem.
I can sign in via the menu bar-store-sign in, but it doesn't change anything.
In the bottom right corner of the updates page there's a US flag icon showing, indicating I'm in the wrong store. Unable to change to Norwegian.
I am also unable to go into iCloud in system preferences:

  • Possible to solution to App Store not showing Updates

I had this issue and submitted a support request. Here is what I received. I cannot say whether it worked or not, since I don't currently have any apps to update, but I did it.
I understand that you App Store does not show your app updates. Please follow the steep below to help resolve the issue.
    1. Close All Apps on iPad: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    2. Sign out of iTunes & App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Tap AppleID > Sign out
    3. Reset All Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    4. Reboot iPad
    5. Sign back into iTunes and App Stores: Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Sign In with AppleID
Thank you for being an iTunes store customer. Apple appreciates your business.

    Try this workaround
    App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

  • Can't download Mavericks from App Store "you have updates available" error

I am running Lion which came with my iMac and it's up to date. I wanted to finally upgrade to Mavericks so I started downloading it a few days ago, but cancelled the download because it was taking so long. So today, I went to start it again and now I'm getting the error: "You have updates available for other accounts Sign in to (my account) to update applications for that account." I have no other Apple accounts. I have searched for this error here an all over the web and performed all of the suggestions: repair permissions, Spotlight, you name it, I've tried it. I even had an older Mavericks install file on an external and it just bounced and wouldn't install.
    Any new suggestions?

OK, I'm answering my own question here in case it will help others.
I suppose you could call it user stupidity, but I'll say it's bad user experience on the part of the App Store.
I went ahead and clicked the "Install App" button, hoping I would then have the option to just download but not (reinstall) Mavericks. That is exactly what happens.
The App Store displays a warning to the effect of:
You already have Mavericks installed on this machine. Do you want to continue and just download the installer?
You click the 'Continue' button and you're good to go.

  • Already updated to 10.7.4, app store still shows update, why?

Just updated to 10.7.4, yet app store in dock still shows the 10.7.4 update as being needed, is there a way to just make the little red "1" go away?

more likely to get an answer in Lion or App Store support forum.
Someone said it was a known bug though not that long ago.
So if you need to redownload it is a simple procedure to do so.

  • Mac app store always shows updates for not installed apps

    Hi,
I've got fresh install of 10.7.1 (replaced hdd, installed via Restore OS usb flash drive). Everything works properly, except of Mac App Store.
For some reason it shows me as updates all apps I ever purchased. Installed and updated to latest version, as well as not installed yet.
    Any way to fix this?
    Thanks!

  • App Store icon show update for apps that i did not install.

Hi, i seriously jammed with my head, my appstore show that there an update for this angry bird icon, but when i checked, i did not install any angry bird games on my macbook. how do i resolve this?

It's quite likely that your son is making in-app purchases. Many free or inexpensive games offer additional features - levels, coins, tools, weapons, etc. - that are purchased from within the game, and these purchases can be quite expensive or can add up very quickly. Check your Purchase History for your iTunes Store account; such purchases would be reflected there. If they are, then ask your son about this. There may be no fraud at all.
To prevent such unauthorized purchases from within an app, set the Restrictions on your son's iPhone to turn off In-App purchasing and, I'd recommend, to  the "immediate" setting for requiring a password for purchasing.
    Regards.

  • App Store doesn't update

Just recently I can't seem to update via the App Store app. The App Store icon shows updates are available but when I tap on the icon the update page opens but there is nothing but a blank page. I know updates are available as the number increases but again when I try to get the updates all I get is a blank page. All the other pages of the App Store work just fine. I'm on the latest iOS and an iPad 3. This issue only cropped up in the last few days. I have tried a hard reset but that did not solve the issue. Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Sky

There have been numerous reports on the forum today regarding this issue. It seems to be an issue at Apple, but no information has been posted on the status site.

  • App Store constantly shows 1 update avail ...

but no update actually is. This happens when I quit App Store. When I reopen the App Store, the 1 update option disappears. What's going on?

Getting rid of that irksome red No1.   Two solutions I know of.
Completely remove the app with AppZapper or the like.  Then reinstall it. Reinstalling it will be free because you would have already paid for it.   The new install would then be the updated version.
And Dah*veed wrote this recently to offer the following solution.
You could try reindexing your HDD.   The MAS uses the Spotlight indexing in determining what apps need updating.   Go to Systems Preferences / Spotlight/ Privacy; add your Hdd to the list then remove it from the list.   Spotlight will then reindex your HDD.
    This has worked for me.
