I recently bought a macbook and recieved the free mountain lion. To redeem the email said to go to quick links in the app store and click redeem. When I clicked redeem i Was taken to a blank grey screen. What is going on?

App store still linked to old Apple ID

Hi everyone -
I recently updated my apple id to a new email address and changed my password etc - this seems to have treated the new one as a completely new account - which is fine, but despite the fact that i have gone into settings on my iphone and made sure my app store is connected to the new (prefferred) ID, i have tried to update a couple of apps and it is asking me to sign in under the old apple id.
I have also had issues trying to add my card to the new apple ID - could this all be part of the same issue?
Can anyone advise?

Apps are permanently linked to the ID used to get them. If you need to update an old app, you need to use the ID linked to it.

Will gifted apps (both MAS and iOS App Store) be linked to the recipient's Apple ID or the giver's Apple ID?

When I say "linked to" I mean will show the app show up under their previous purchases - i.e. iTunes in the Cloud - or mine? I would guess theirs, as the gift is to them and would therefore be available for them to re-download later.

It won't show under yours as it's not something that you 'own', but it should, as far as I know, show under their's (as long as the app remains in the store).

ITunes App Store no "Categories" menu?

Every category within the iTunes store has its own landing page, complete with a menu of top-level categories. Music and Movies has a Genres menu. Podcasts has a Categories menu. Audio Books has a "Popular Authors" menu where Genres ought to be (huh?) and what does the App Store have?
"App Store Quick Links", with such relatively arbitrary categories as "Comics", "Summertime", and "Zombies!".
Once all of my Zombie needs have been met, what if I'm looking for actual top-level categories such as Productivity, Weather or Business? The most consistent, intuitive thing would be to have a Genres/Categories menu like every other section, putting the user one click away from the content they're looking for.
There ARE methods of getting to specific app categories, but none of them meet the guidelines that Apple itself set out for app designers, such as not making users feel like they have to visit too many screens to go to the content they want, or using the left pane to provide users with a persistent menu of top-level categories. If the iTunes version of the App Store was up for review, it might well get rejected!
(Even the App Store on the iPhone/iPad, the most intuitive App Store interface of the lot, chooses to make top-level categorical content two "clicks" in, instead of one.)
Somewhere there's a UI developer pulling her hair out because Sales&Marketing thinks more apps would be sold if there was a "Zombies!" category where "Education" or "Travel" ought to be.

iTunes apps are for iOS devices such as iPads, iPhones, and the iPod touch.
Apps you download from the Mac App Store are for the Mac OS X.

Cannot get lion to complete download before pausing. It will not resume. Go back to app store. Install. Get same result. Help?

I have attempted to download Lion multiple times. Somehow it pauses during download and will not resume. I begin again at App Store. Start the install over. I have attempted this numerous times without success. Not sure why I cannot get the download to resume and I don't know why it pauses to begin. Estimated time to download....6.5 hours UGH. Help?

Your system should be OK. I suspect the issue may be with your Comcast service. Have you tried downloading anything else, for example navigate to 10.6.8 Update Combo and see if you can download that OK. If that works OK then you can go to the Mac App Store and navigate through their Support. You can find a link to that in the Mac App Store Quick Links.
The problem is we don't know where the problem is. One thing you can also do is find a free app on the Mac App Store and see if it will download OK. If it does then you should contact AppleCare or visit your local Apple Store or AASP for some help.

HT204088 How do you find purchase history from the app store via your Iphone?

I believe my son has inadvertently made in app purchases which are adding up to a huge sum on my bank statement. I can not get in touch with the Itunes help folks to confirm what all these purchases are and can't find them via Itunes or the App store on my phone.
Any advice?

Go to itunes --> on top nav, select app store --> Look for "purchased" on the right rail menu under APP STORE QUICK LINKS. That will take you to the "Purchased" page. You can search by "All" or by "Not on This Computer" (I looked something up on my comptuer... so I can also search what applications were downloaded from iPhone, another computer or iPad). The dates and prices of the apps are NOT listed there. Hope that helps.

TS1424 iOS issue with an App from the App store.

I have an Iphone 3g 8gig. I am trying to download my bank app and the app store is telling me I need to be OS 4.3, My current OS is 4.2.1. It won't let me update the OS, It says I am running the current version.

If you have OS X 10.6.8 as you state you can not get iphoto form the App store - you must have Yosemite OS X 10.10. installed to download iphoto 9.6 from the App store
If Nothing happens then you need to contact App store support - link is on the right of the App store window

There are too many questions "like" mine, so here it is: I updated from Mountain Lion to Yosemite, I can't open iphoto 9.1.5, I am directed to the app store, I "accept" iphoto upgrade and enter my credentials, but no update occurs. :-(

How many questions like yours should there be? What exactly do you expect the volenteers here to do about what you personally consider "too many questions"?
To move to iphoto 9.6 (required for Yosemite) You must log in to the App store using the Apple ID that was used to set up the compter (or purchase the application if it was purchased later), backup your iPhoto library and then download and install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store
If that is not working then you must contact App store suport - link is on the right of the App store window

Can I help someone solve the App Store update problem

If you can't update your apps in the App Store update link, you can update your apps by clicking on the purchase icon and see which apps need to be updated and click on the app that says update and it will install.

Adding to above^
You can also update the applications in iTunes on the comptuer then sync the changes to the devices.
Just go to the apps section in itunes where is shows all the backed up/imported applications. Then you should see the update apps button on the lower right.
