App store says install error wont let me purchase  mountain lion

purchase can not be completed, any ideas whats up with this message?

Check the model number by holding down the option/alt key while selecting About this Mac under the Apple menu. Select System Information and it will tell you the model number.  Compare it to:
Model Number - iMac
You can then check against the link mende1 provided.
If you then go with Niel's suggestion, you can check here.
Computer Compatibility - Lion
You also might want to check applications compatibility since neither lion or Mountain Lion support PowerPC applications.

  • App Store says I need more memory to download Mountain Lion.

System says ineed 2GB of memory, but I have plenty of memory.  What is going on?

Well, from the disk utility, it says I have 117.34 GB available.  I am not a computer person at all so perhaps I am misunderstanding what this is telling me:
    Capacity :          124.42 GB (124,419,833,856 Bytes)
Format :          Mac OS Extended (Journaled)          Available :          117.34 GB (117,341,642,752 Bytes)
Owners Enabled :          Yes          Used :          7.08 GB (7,078,191,104 Bytes)
Number of Folders :          89,034          Number of Files :          292,500
Where am I supposed to look to find this out?

  • How do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall

how do i reload OS X Server on Mac Mini, App store says installed but no reset or reload, system tells me to reinstall?

Reboot holding down the Command and R keys.  This will get you in to the Recovery partition.  From there you can reinstall the entire OS.  Please note, Server.app will not be included in the reinstall.  You will need to log into your App store account to download it.

  • I have been working on a document in Pages 4.3 and now it tells me I can not open the document unless I upgrade to Pages 5.2. When I look up Pages 5.2 the App store says "installed" nor can I find a "purchase" or "install" button.

My OS is 10.9.3.I've been working on a document in Pages 4.3. Now is says I can not open the document unless I upgrade to Pages 5.2. The Pages 5.2 page in the App store says "installed" nor can I find a "purchase" or "install" button. How do I get Pages 5.2?

If you have already updated to Pages 5.2 on your Mac, you may be trying to open the file with a previous version of Pages. If this is the case, you have two versions of Pages on your Mac & are trying to open Pages 5 documents with Pages 4. Are you launching Pages from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Pages from there then right-click on the Dock icon & select Options > Keep in Dock.
Installing new versions of iWork has never replaced existing versions. This is nothing new. The only thing new is that the '09 apps are moved to an iWork '09 folder if they were purchased from the Mac App Store. If they were installed from disk they should already be in a separate folder in Applications.

  • I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard. Now there is a new Xcode for Lion, so I downloaded the new one but the installed continued to be the old one. Now App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me to re-download Xcode. How can I proceed?

I've paid $ 3,99 for Xcode for Snow Leopard 12 days ago. After installing Lion I saw there is a new FREE Xcode for it, so I downloaded the new one but after installing automatically Xcode for Lion the Developer folder contained the old one. I deleted the old Xcode but the App Store says "Installed" and don't allow me re-download Xcode.
How can I proceed? I'm guessing whether this problem will occur each time I buy an application from App Store.

Yes, that's righ, Xcode installer was in the Apps folder. I assumed it had been automatically installed and the installer deleted after installation (the same way as Lion is installed).
I tried also the procedure for redownloding applications, and MAS showed both Xcodes (Lion and Snow Leopard) and OS X Lion. We see that buttons for Lion and Xcode for Snow Leopard say 'Install' but Xcode for Lion says 'installed' because there is an Install Scode in the Apps folder.
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto 8.1.2 - want to replace with iPhoto '11 but App Store says Installed

I have a MacPro at home and a MBP which I also use - I have the 'old' iLife 09 which provided iPhoto in ver. 8 form [updaed to 8.1.2 in 2010] - I went to the App Store to get iLife '11 to update fully and it says it's Installed.
But I checked on my MacPro and it's not installed there. Nor is it on my MBP -- how can I get it from the App Store and install it on my MacPro = it won't let me. Thank.s

Try rename iPhoto.app in the Applications folder. Change it to something like iPhotoold or somesuch. Then try again.
As always, before updating anything, *back up first*

  • Update download trouble: App Store says, in error, "-not enough free disk space"

I wonder if anyone can help me troubleshoot this... I am unable to download some updates as from the App Store, and instead get an error message that suggests I don't have enough free disk space despite there being over 100GB free.
More detail: after installing Mavericks successfully, I started updating a few applications. While downloading iMovie and iPhoto there was an error - can't recall what the pop-up said, but I think it was a fairly general kind of error message. When I then tried to download them again, the App Store gave me an error message about free disk space, so I deleted a bunch of files and tried again. Same result, same error message ("Your hard disk does not have enough free space"). I checked on free space, however, and at this point I had over 100GB of free space.
I tried deleting the com.apple.storeagent folder in my Library/Caches folder, then trying again. but it made no difference. I've restarted, repaired permissions, verified the disk, restarted again, and I'm still seeing the error.
One odd feature of this problem: in the App Store purchases tab (see screengrab below), the icons for both iMovie and iPhoto are missing/broken, which might just point the way to what is going wrong.
    System details:
    IMac 27", 2009
    2.8GHz i7
    12GB RAM
    Running OS X 10.9
    Couple of screengrabs to illustrate:

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Time Machine
If the padlock icon is closed, click it to unlock the settings and authenticate. Turn Time Machine OFF, then turn it backON and close the preference pane. Wait a few minutes, then try the operation again.

  • Mac App Store says "Unknown error."

The Mac App store is giving me an "unknown error" when I try to install a purchased app or but another app.
I *think* this is a result of me running a chmod or chown recursively on the wrong directory.  I've run the "Restore Disk Permissions" on my main partition and although that said it fixed some things, it didn't solve my App store problem.
What user, group, and permissions do I need to set and on what files and directories do I need to set them in order for this to work?
As a side-note, I'm logged into the app store with my only account.  Choosing "Sign Out" from the "Store" menu does nothing.  I upgraded to OS X 10.7.4 and rebooted today.  I've deleted the App Store cache files and rebooted.
    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hi Joel ...
How about third party software. If you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
Little Snitch can cause the issues you are experiencing also.
And try deleting the App Store cookies .plist
    Go to   ~/Libary/Cookies
Move the  com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
    Try the App Store.

  • Lion installed but Mac App Store says install

I have a 2009 MacBook and a 2006 iMac on which I have upgraded to Lion via the Mac App Store. Recently, the Mac App Store started saying "Install" next to Lion. I pressed "Install" and Lion re-downloaded and re-installed but the Mac App Store still says "Install" next to Lion but clearly Lion was installed before and after (10.7.3). ????

It may be that the Lion installer has been downloaded to your Mac but it hasn't yet been run.  Look for it in the Dock or in the Applications folder.  If you see it there, launch it to install Lion.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

  • I can't download Lion from App Store - says an error has occured. Have rebooted and contacted Apple support. Can anybody help?

Every time I try to download Lion, the download, the download appears to start, but then stops, saying an error has occured, with nothing downloaded, and the App icon disappears from the dock.
    Has anybody else experienced similar?

same problem and precisely with the OS X lion up to date program.
I called apple but they said there's nothing they can do for now. there are many problems they are trying to resolve and one of them is the up to date program.
the only solution available they said is to wait. but they didn't specify for how long.
One would think that they'd test their solution well when they took the decision to make the OS available only though the appstore or at least offer a back up solution should people be unable to obtain it like it is the case for us.

  • App Store stuck with "Waiting..." after Mountain Lion download.

The status of the install seemed to be stuck at "7 minutes remaining", so I closed the App store and re-openeded it. The status changed to "Waiting..." and I am not sure if anything is happening. Has this happened to anyone? If so, did it resolve itself or did you have to do something to push it forward?
This is the second computer I've upgraded to Mountain Lion today from the same Internet connection. I appears that the download completed, and it began installing the OS. How long should this take?

So, the download was finished like I thought. I went to the Applications directory and saw the "Mountain Lion Installer" app. I clicked on it and it installed immediately with no issues.

  • HT4848 Two days ago I upgraded my MAC PRO from Lion to Mountain Lion via my account at the Apple App store.  My machine runs so slow with Mountain Lion especially mail that it is completely useless.  It take about ten minutes per mouse click to register.

I also run Parralles 7.  I re-installed this a few times with no affect.  I have it not running and my Mountain Lion is still too slow to use.  Again a single mouse or keystroke takes up to ten minues to register.
    Suggestions ?

Startup in Safe mode (holding Shift key down) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Then you can update or uninstall your problematic third-party software.

  • Where can I find the install code from when I purchased Mountain Lion?

Going to get a new hard drive, my local store said if I could provide the install code for Mountain Lion that they would only charge me $20 to install the OS on the HD.  How can I find the install code when I purchased it.  I bought it Nov. 2012.

That's only applicable if you got Mountain Lion through the now-discontinued free upgrade program and haven't redeemed the code for it.
If you bought it from the Mac App Store or have redeemed a download code for it, log into it with the Apple ID and password associated with that copy of it, click on the Purchases tab, and redownload it from there.
If you got it with a new Mac, start it up with the Command and R keys held down and reload it from the recovery partition.
