App store shows "download" when already installed.
Why does the app store show mountain lion ready to "download" when I have already installed mountain lion? Do i need to download and reinstall?
Well, because the App Store is only concerning itself with the Mountain Lion _installer_ (which is an application) and not the OS itself.
The OS will be updated via Software Update, as it always is. Note that in Mountain Lion that Software Updates appear in the App Store application, but this doesn't mean they're actually delivered _via_ the App Store. Software Updates for non-Mac-App-Store applications are delivered as they always were, just with a different front-end UI. It can be confusing ;-)

Are yoy sure that Apeture is not in the Applications folder of the new system? If it is move it to the trash and the App Store will let you download Aperture from it.
You will need to make sure you use the same Apple ID you used to purchase it in the past.

Hi! a few days ago I updated to Maverick and updated several other programs as well, however Pages 5.0 somehow didn't install, so I'm running 4.3. The App Store thinks I have already installed it. The FAQs suggest I can redownload, they do not indicate how. How?
Thanks!The older iWorks apps are in an iWorks folder the new apps are loose in the Applications folder. Are you sure the new Pages isn't there?
You can redownload apps from the Purchases pane after signing into your account. -
pop up window says need to upgrade to newer version to work on document from the cloud. go to app store and it says already installed...help. Am trying to work on document from office computer at home on laptop.
This is what the pop up says:
You need a newer version of Numbers to open this spreadsheet.
You can download the latest version of Numbers from the Mac App Store.

At first, it can be difficult to determine which version of Numbers you are using. The user interfaces are different, but if you are new to the apps you may think you are using the new version when if fact you have launched the older version. Make sure you are using Version 3.x. Then you won't get the message that you need a newer version.
Use Spotlight to launch Numbers. After typing Numbers into the search field, pick the result that says "Numbers -- Applications".

I have previously downloaded Mavericks and yet the App store shows "download" I did and now I have done it twice. Today i noticed that 4 apps were marked update and yet they have been updated earlier. Why does it still say "download"
It will allow you to download again, but you do not have to do so.
If you Sign Out and then Sign In does it still show these status marks? Do you get the update red badge on the App Store icon, or only in the Purchases area? -
I have Pages 4.3 on my macbook and cannot open cloud documents without going to Pages 5; App store says it is already installed and I can't upgrade. Suggestions please.
Have you looked in th Application folder for Page 5?

Mavericks installed but app store shows "download" not "installed"
I installed Mavericks on my new (Christmas 2013 Macbook Air) and updated all other apps associated with Mavericks. When I visit the app store it shows download on Mavericks app but all others show "installed".
I checked the app installed and in "about this mac" it shows I have 10.9.1. Why won't the app store show it is installed and should I do something else to complete the install?Asked and answered a zillion times since the advent of OS X Lion as a direct download. Please do a forum search before posting.
The Mac App Store is about apps, not whether an OS is installed. What you got from the MAS was an app, the OS X Mavericks Installer. It self-deletes when it finishes successfully installing the OS. The reason it says Download is in case you need to download the installer app again. -

Under "Purchases" in the App Store Lion is indicated as requiring to be downloaded when it should be labelled as installed as it is already installed and "Updates" indicates that "All aps are up to date". Any ideas what is going on and whether this will cause problems moving to Mountain Lion ?

I believe that what you are seeing is that the MAS is not detecting the Lion Installer in your apps folder. The installer self-deletes after it has run and installed Lion. The MAS is giving you the opportunity to download it again. It can be ignored. -
Want to download a previously deleted app but the app store says it's already installed
While updating the 'Tumblr' app on my iPod, my internet connection went down and the updating stopped. When I regained internet connection I clicked the app and it just deleted. Now, when I go to the app store to try and install the app again, it says I already have the app and the downloading button is replaced with an 'open' button.
I've already checked the iPod and it hasn't been moved around or into a folder. If somebody could help I'd be very grateful!What happens when you tap the "Open" button?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Download the app on your computer and sync

Apps do not appear in applications folder, app store shows that they are installed
My system failed and I had my husband restore all the applications. He was installing Garage Band, iMovie ad iPhoto using the App Store. He paused the download of all the applications since the system had to to do a restart. When the system came back up, App Store was reporting that the applications were installed, but when I looked in the applications folder none of the applications were in the folder.
How do I restore these purchases?

The problem was that the backup of my old system was connected and the old applications folder was found by the App Store App store. So App Store thought that the application was installed even though the application folder was not on the system drive.
The work around was disconnect the drive. My husband thinks that the the App Store should ignore any application that is not in the system Application folder.

Downloaded trial 3.2. Now App store won't let me buy no matter how I try to get there.
You need to delete the trial first by moving the application to the system trash.
Here's my thread on the subject. There are others that go into more detail no doubt, but this is my experience which worked out fine.

It may be that the Lion installer has been downloaded to your Mac but it hasn't yet been run. Look for it in the Dock or in the Applications folder. If you see it there, launch it to install Lion.

iPhoto will not open. Error message says I must upgrade but the AppStore indicates that the newest version of iPhoto is installed so how can I upgrade and why did it stop working in the first place? What is the problem?
Hi Terence. I solved my problem. Apparently a 9.5.1 version of iPhoto was dowloaded, backed up on Ext Drive then deleted from the Mac HD...Leaving the old version 9.4.3 still resident on the Mac HD.
