App store update continue to show available on Macbook Air when one is not actually available
My macbook air continues to show an update available in App Store, but when App Store is then opened, one does not show available. Also, neither my iPad nor iPhone 4S shows an update like this. Remains through restarts, shutting down, etc. Any ideas?
First, the App Stores for OS X (Macs) and iOS (iPhones/iPads) are two completely different things.
Next, are we talking a system update or an app update?
Either way, under Updates it should show up with an Install button. No? Then it's probably an app which you've earlier been hiding from the list of purchased items. You can unhide it it your account (follow the Account link e.g. in the right pane under Spotlight).

Try deleting the cache associated with the App Store.
Quit the App Store app if it's open.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Launch the App Store. See if that helped...

Mac App store showing 1 pending update, but when I click "Updates" tab, it shows an empty page. Have tried resetting PRAM, SMC, Safe Mode, removing all third party Apps. What games from the app store can i buy & play on 13" macbook air???
Hey i just got a new 6/2012 macbook air and love it.
just wanted to get some games for it.
and ive gone to the app store, but alot of the good games require certain graphics cards etc...
can anyone tell me what games i can download and play?? as its not very clear.. all it says on spec is intel 4000.
which i know is the new chip/cpu etc..
im keen on playing games like jedi outcast 2/knights of the old rep. sims. etc...Don't play any games on your MacBook Air. Use that for your seriuos endevors and just purchase a cheap Windows Samsung or Dell for $500 bucks and use that. Or pick up that Google crap Adroid with a new OS every week for $150 bucks and use that.
But keep your MacBook Air free from any garbage. -
My app store updates won't show up on my iPod, so I can't update anything.
I have updates available on my iPod and when I try to open the updates, nothing shows up. I am unable to update. I tried restarting the iPod and forcing a restart, and nothing so far has worked.

now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

App Store Update shows App already installed, but still keeps bugging me
App Store Updates continually shows Apple Remote Desktop V 3.7.2 as an update. When I click on UPDATE, I get the message:
"Remote Desktop is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
"Software Update from the Apple menu" no longer exists since upgrading to Yosemite. Besides, that's what the UPDATE button does.
I looked at other discussions, and tried the advice there, with no luck:
I downloaded Remote Desktop Version 3.7.2 again, and it would not install, saying a newer version already exists.
I turned off Applications in Spotlight, then turned it back on. I even restarted before turning it back on.
I went to delete "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore" but there isn't one.
There's got to be a way get rid of this. No it's bugging me in Notifications to update software that won't update, because it does not need updating.I can't find the disc, which was installed at least 6 years ago, when I was living in another city. Remote Desktop Admin was very expensive at the time. $299 if I remember correctly.
I've since deleted every file with remotedesktopadmin in the name, from system and user libraries. Restored 3.7.2 from the external drive, and the problem persists.
It would appear to be a software bug in App Store since I installed Yosemite. In six years of using Remote Desktop I've never had a problem until Yosemite install.
3.6 would not run because it checks for updates first. 3.7.2 runs just fine, and the App knows there is no update - otherwise it would behave like 3.6 and require an update. It's only App Store Update that erroneously indicates the App needs updating. If I deleted all plists, preferences, receipts, etc. what does App Store Update use to determine App update status?
Moreover, if I did not buy it on the App Store (there was no App Store six years ago), why is it showing up at all? I have lots of software that I bought directly from the vendor, and I don't get erroneous update messages for those.
Even stranger, when I looked at trying to buy a new copy in the App Store, instead of Buy, the icon said "Open". Somehow App Store thinks I bought it from the App Store, even though I didn't? I clicked Open, and while the App was running, the erroneous update message STILL persisted. -
IOS8 on a IPhone 5 bugs, youmail, Email and app store updates
I've discovered the following oddities with IOS 8.0. Maybe they will be repaired when I install 8.0.2, however I wanted to document them.
App Store updates do not clear from the list after they have been downloaded and installed. For instance I updated 5 apps. I downloaded them via Itunes and synchronized my IPhone 5 as I normally do. The App Store Icon still shows I have 5 apps which need to be updated. Opening the App Store icon, and clicking on the updates tab does not clear the list. It instead shows the "update" soft key for a moment and then it changes to "open". I have tried several things including rebooting my IPhone 5 to no avail. I did notice that when a new app shows appears to be updated the previous apps which were indeed updated are purged from the list. After downloading via ITunes and again synchronizing my phone, the latest app which has been updated also will not purge from the list when clicking on the "updates" soft key. Now my App Store icon continues to show that I need to update one app.
Youmail app. I can't purge (delete) voice mails from the trash folder. Selecting them, and selecting the purge (delete) soft key does not remove them. It's as if the command is ignored.
Email, I noticed that when I use the delete all soft key from the trash folder selecting the "edit" soft key and then "delete all" that the soft key in the upper right corner which normally changes from "edit" to "cancel" when I select delete all is blacks out like a hole in the screen. The "cancel" soft key which normally appears there is gone. I did note that touching the now black hole where the cancel soft key was previously still functions as "cancel".
I am using the current version of ITunes 11.4.0.8 in a Windows 7 PC.Youmail just released an update which fixed the deletion problem with old voice mails. The other problems are still not resolved, even with the 8.0.2 IOS update.

In my iphone when i go to app store > Updates, system showing me 10 updates but when i try to open this page, page is not getting open. Loader came up and then white blank screen is visible. Rest all Featured, Top Charts Genius and Search are working fine but updates page is not getting open.

I can't see any oddities in your plug-ins. It never hurts to clear any relevant cookies and your cache.
You could see how it goes in Safe Mode - Hold Shift key down as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens and continue. If the page opens you probably have a problem with extensions or themes and you should work through this -

A lot of things have been updated as well as Firefox and you could have a culprit or conflict. Next, if there is no improvement you could try disabling third party toolbars, and you should report back at this stage or if there has been early success.
Someone may come by with a more specific remedy. -
Is there a way to remove installed updates from the App Store update window? I keep getting an alert that I have an update for Apple Remote Desktop. It says its installed, but the alert and the app keep showing up. Annoying!!

App Store updates will not show up on screen
I currently have updates available, but when I go to the App Store update, nothing shows up on the screen. Just the update indicator on the App Store icon showing the number 5.

App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

Agreed. Since installing iOS 7 I seem to have to open the App Store before available updates show. I currently have background app refreshes switched "on" but no apps actually selected from the list.

App Store Update keeps showing even after installing
the app store on my macbook air keeps showing an update for MacBook Air SMC Firmware update 1.8. it shows 1.66f60 is installed in the system info page.
the MacBook air is late 2010 with OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The update acts like it is installing but, it still shows up in the app store update even after rebooting.

I have an Epson Artison 810, and since Mountain Lion was installed, my iMac (when waking from sleep or rebooting) keeps asking me if I'd like to download an update for this printer. If I click Yes, I'm taken to the App Store, where, after waiting WAY too long, it tells me my system's up to date, and that no updates are available. -
So I changed my Apple ID. Now on my Iphone I can't update things from the apps store or download new stuff. I went into settings and changed my ID there, but in the apps store it still shows up as my old ID. The apps store won't let me log on with the new one, as my old still shows up, and if I go back into settings and change it back to the old ID the password I had before no longer works. This ***** Apple. You just ruined my Iphone!!! My phone went from being cool to being junk since I am not unable to download or update apps...the coolest part of my phone. Someone help??? Please tell me how I can enjoy my phone and apps again...
Thank you for the response, but I ended up temporarily resetting my Apple ID... It was a pain, but it worked in the end.

App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite. How can I just force it to allow me to RE-BUY the app again since I don't even have it to update, but I want it?
Currently, I even though I don't have the app, I am not given the option to buy, only to "update", and when I click on that it either hangs or it complains that it can't since my Apple ID is not associated with my account.And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.
