App Store Update Shows Incorrect Status

App store shows iPhoto 9.3.2 as an available update but I have already downloaded and installed it. Any thoughts on how to correct this?

The Mac App Store can see the apps on attached drives and partitions. Do you have a backup drive connected that has the older version of the app on it?

  • App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite

App store update shows I can't update an app since my Apple ID is not associated with my account on Yosemite. How can I just force it to allow me to RE-BUY the app again since I don't even have it to update, but I want it?
Currently, I even though I don't have the app, I am not given the option to buy, only to "update", and when I click on that it either hangs or it complains that it can't since my Apple ID is not associated with my account.

And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.

The App Store updates show a discrepancy:
    App                    Version          File info

    Numbers          3.0.1          2.0.3

    Couldn't send a simple message.
Phone support asked many silly questions then told me I have to pay 49 Euros to get an answer.

    Bob -
I see you have the version numbers as shown in the App Store.
    I don't.
App Store announced the latest version but the download yielded those I mentioned.
App Store doesn't let me try again, so ...
Can you help me to trigger "This solved my question"?

  • App Store Update shows App already installed, but still keeps bugging me

App Store Updates continually shows Apple Remote Desktop V 3.7.2 as an update. When I click on UPDATE, I get the message:
"Remote Desktop is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
"Software Update from the Apple menu" no longer exists since upgrading to Yosemite. Besides, that's what the UPDATE button does.
I looked at other discussions, and tried the advice there, with no luck:
I downloaded Remote Desktop Version 3.7.2 again, and it would not install, saying a newer version already exists.
I turned off Applications in Spotlight, then turned it back on. I even restarted before turning it back on.
I went to delete "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore" but there isn't one.
There's got to be a way get rid of this. No it's bugging me in Notifications to update software that won't update, because it does not need updating.

I can't find the disc, which was installed at least 6 years ago, when I was living in another city. Remote Desktop Admin was very expensive at the time. $299 if I remember correctly.
I've since deleted every file with remotedesktopadmin in the name, from system and user libraries. Restored 3.7.2 from the external drive, and the problem persists.
It would appear to be a software bug in App Store since I installed Yosemite. In six years of using Remote Desktop I've never had a problem until Yosemite install.
3.6 would not run because it checks for updates first. 3.7.2 runs just fine, and the App knows there is no update - otherwise it would behave like 3.6 and require an update. It's only App Store Update that erroneously indicates the App needs updating. If I deleted all plists, preferences, receipts, etc. what does App Store Update use to determine App update status?
Moreover, if I did not buy it on the App Store (there was no App Store six years ago), why is it showing up at all? I have lots of software that I bought directly from the vendor, and I don't get erroneous update messages for those.
Even stranger, when I looked at trying to buy a new copy in the App Store, instead of Buy, the icon said "Open". Somehow App Store thinks I bought it from the App Store, even though I didn't? I clicked Open, and while the App was running, the erroneous update message STILL persisted.

  • App store updates icons go from update to open & remain on screen.  How do I get them to disappear from the update screen?

App store - UPDATES screen - icon status is UPDATE - hit UPDATE ALL -  icon status changes to OPEN - icons remain on screen
How do I get the updated icons to disappear from the Updates screen?

This is a new feature of iOS 7. A record is kept of which apps were updated and when. Tis is useful if you have apps set to automatically update.

I am very confused. When I wanna to update my apps in app store, it shows the account which is my iPhone one is not my iPad one. how can I reset to my iPad account?

And I am very confused by your query. Your iTunes account is the same on all devices - unless of course you have multiple accounts to begin with.
If you do have another Apple ID that you use for the iPad purchases, you can sign out of the account that is on the iPad in Settings>Store.
Perhaps a few more details from you could clear up the confusion???

Looks O.K. to me Opens correctly in Firefox and Opera as a log-in page for Killer Content - Win7x64 Fx5.
I can't see any oddities in your plug-ins. It never hurts to clear any relevant cookies and your cache.
You could see how it goes in Safe Mode - Hold Shift key down as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens and continue. If the page opens you probably have a problem with extensions or themes and you should work through this -
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes
A lot of things have been updated as well as Firefox and you could have a culprit or conflict. Next, if there is no improvement you could try disabling third party toolbars, and you should report back at this stage or if there has been early success.
Someone may come by with a more specific remedy.

  • App Store icon shows updates available, but all apps up to date

Just bought Iphone 5c, second day, App store icon shows updates available, but PC, store and other Iphones show none.  Tried resetting, updates to ios 8.02, synching, going through each app individually to see if there is an update, no luck.
Wnen I reset, the icon shows a badge with 7 updates available.  I opened App Store, bottom right (update icon) showed the same.  Tapped it, the update screen appears (as normal), and the 7 on the update icon disappeared, screen says UPDATES All apps are up to date.  However, on the home screen, the App store badge still shows 7 updates.
Anyone else having the same prob?  What is the fix?

Tried that, tries a soft reset, and a hard reset, no luck.  Funny thing is, my other iphones and IPad work fine, its just the Iphone 5.

  • I updated iPhoto but the app store still shows that red 1, how can I remove it?

I updated iPhoto but the app store still shows that red 1, how can I remove it? I can't right click, i cant do anything to get rid of it.

Nope that's not it, I always use that particular ID, but the @me.com portion of the Apple ID is missing when trying to download from the App Store on the Phone.
It is grayed out inside the App Store app so I can't change it there and I already changed it in the settings.
The entire Apple ID is fine in the Settings so I don't get why the App Store ID is different and missing information.

  • App Store Updates not showing

I'm having a problem with the App Store not showing me updates that are available.  I noticed this just now when using iPhoto, it told me there was an update but the App Store said that no updates were available.
I fixed that by downloading the update from Apple's support site.  But then I got worried if I'd missed anything else.  My normal account doesn't have admin rights, so I logged in with one that does and then there are some updates waiting, including some security fixes.
So is this by design?  If I check for Software Updates as a user without admin rights should nothing appear?  Or do I need to change a setting somewhere.
    I'm on Mountain Lion 10.8.3.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, I'm not sure if this would be the case here, but if you have the "automatically check for updates" checked in SU Pref Pane as well as the subcategories, it will automatically download and install updates (I'm guessing that this would mean there wouldn't be a notification since it is being installed "behind the scenes" as it were).
And, the Pref Pane now has this at the top "SU keeps OS X and apps from MAS up to date" - that also indicates (to me) that it'll all be done automatically. So this may be Apple's planned and intentional behavior?
My initial post here was to show that although my apps were not purchased from MAS, I am still able to download updates from MAS. On the other hand, I do not know if there is a difference in notification and/or download methods on MAS vs. Non-MAS apps (despite what the SU Pref Pane header states).
That is exactly what happened.  Just got off the phone w/AC.  They directed me to SU Pref Pane.  Missing Manual nor the OS Help Menu makes no mention of SU Pref Pane!  Anywho, I changed the settings.  So hopefully, I should be able to start getting notifications of all updates.  The box I kept enabled was the Automatically check for updates.  I unchecked all the rest of them.
Hopefully, this will help the OP too.

  • App Store updates will not show up on screen

I currently have updates available, but when I go to the App Store update, nothing shows up on the screen.  Just the update indicator on the App Store icon showing the number 5.

    Try this workaround
    App Store>Purchased>Select "All"
Note: Look out for apps that have the word "Update"

  • App Store keeps showing update for program that has been uninstalled

The App Store keeps showing an update available for Virus Barrier Express even after I have removed it completely from my system.  Going into the Purchased list shows it is not installed.  When the application was installed it always said there was an update.  No matter how many times you clicked Update and allowed it to download and install the update, the App Store still showed the update needed to be installed.
On another machine it constantly shows an update for one of the installed applications but clicking the update button doesn't clear the update once it's been downloaded and installed.
Deleting the App Store preference hasn't resolved the issue.  Enabling the debug menu and using the Reset Applications option has not either.

I found out what was causing my problem (can't re-install an app that I deleted and which was purchased from the App Store). The app I was trying to re-install under Lion was Apple's Compressor v4 which is only available through the Mac App Store. However, even though I was booting from my one-and-only copy of Lion the Mac App Store was apparently getting confused by an old copy of Compressor v3.5 that was installed on another boot disk that I maintain for Snow Leopard. I'm running on a quad-disk Mac Pro so all four disks mount whenever I start the system. In any case, all I had to do was unmount the other disks and the Mac App Store then allowed me to install Compressor v4 on my Lion system.
The reason I was able to pinpoint this solution is that I wanted to run another Mac App Store app (Find Any File) and even though the Store said it was "Installed" I couldn't find the application in either the Lion Application folder or within LaunchPad. I then realized that the App Store was referencing the copy of that app that was stored on my Snow Leopard disk and unmounting that disk finally allowed me to install both Compressor v4 and Find Any File on my actual/current boot disk (i.e. Lion).
Now, the odd thing about this problem is that Compressor v4 wasn't installed on any of my disks, it was the older version of Compressor (v3.5.3) that apparently was preventing me from installing the new version 4 on my Lion system. In fact, Compressor v3.5.3 crashes immediately under Lion so that version of the app isn't even usable when I'm running Lion.
So, if you're having a problem with installation or app removal or updates from the Mac App Store try dismounting any other disks which you might have attached to your Mac and see it that solves your problem. If it does solve the problem then you can almost be assured that the cause of your difficulty is some file that is present on one of your other disks (i.e. app may not even be on your current boot disk).
