App Store updating software I have already updated

I have down loaded OS X and now the App Store is attempting to update Pages, Keynotes, and Numbers which hace been updated already. Are the continuous updates taking up space on my MacPro? How do I cancel the repeated updates.

  • App Store Updates still showing after update

I have downloaded lots of apps for my iPod touch and I had one update available from the App Store. I have downloaded the update on my iPod twice, in iTunes 3 times and I have synced the iPod over and over again and the update is still showing in the App Store even after I have already installed it. What can I do to fix this?

For what is worth, this started happening to me as well, I got two updates "fixed" there albeit the apps have been updated days ago...

I did not buy iPhoto with any ID because it was already preinstalled!?

Did you try re-installing OS x Lion? That was the solution for me. Just make a back up with time machine and then restart your mac and during restart press ALT. Then you'll acces the support screen and there you can reinstall OS X lion on your macintosh HD.
This was the solution the people from Apple support gave me and afterwards I could download the update perfectly.

  • App Store Update shows App already installed, but still keeps bugging me

App Store Updates continually shows Apple Remote Desktop V 3.7.2 as an update. When I click on UPDATE, I get the message:
"Remote Desktop is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
"Software Update from the Apple menu" no longer exists since upgrading to Yosemite. Besides, that's what the UPDATE button does.
I looked at other discussions, and tried the advice there, with no luck:
I downloaded Remote Desktop Version 3.7.2 again, and it would not install, saying a newer version already exists.
I turned off Applications in Spotlight, then turned it back on. I even restarted before turning it back on.
I went to delete "~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore" but there isn't one.
There's got to be a way get rid of this. No it's bugging me in Notifications to update software that won't update, because it does not need updating.

I can't find the disc, which was installed at least 6 years ago, when I was living in another city. Remote Desktop Admin was very expensive at the time. $299 if I remember correctly.
I've since deleted every file with remotedesktopadmin in the name, from system and user libraries. Restored 3.7.2 from the external drive, and the problem persists.
It would appear to be a software bug in App Store since I installed Yosemite. In six years of using Remote Desktop I've never had a problem until Yosemite install.
3.6 would not run because it checks for updates first. 3.7.2 runs just fine, and the App knows there is no update - otherwise it would behave like 3.6 and require an update. It's only App Store Update that erroneously indicates the App needs updating. If I deleted all plists, preferences, receipts, etc. what does App Store Update use to determine App update status?
Moreover, if I did not buy it on the App Store (there was no App Store six years ago), why is it showing up at all? I have lots of software that I bought directly from the vendor, and I don't get erroneous update messages for those.
Even stranger, when I looked at trying to buy a new copy in the App Store, instead of Buy, the icon said "Open". Somehow App Store thinks I bought it from the App Store, even though I didn't? I clicked Open, and while the App was running, the erroneous update message STILL persisted.

  • App store says it still have one available update after install completed of all updates.

    Hi,
I updated Apple Remote Desktop via App Store.
Now I cant get rid of the red marking saying there is still one available update and the only update showing is RD.
Which also has the status "Installed" in the App Store update page.
I have two Apple ID's, no difference.
    OSX 10.8.2
    Any suggestions?

I cannot speak for anything other than a Mac.
On a Mac, the update button is top right hand on the App Store opening screen.  If it is decorated with a number, say 1, then that means there is one update available.   Clicking on that I should bring up a profile of the app it applies to.
If it's an app you've already updated the small panel to the right of that app will say installed even though the button at top right has a 1 in it.
And therein lies the problem that beppnbe wanted to solve.   And my response gave one solution to removing it.
If you have a missing App it could be in two places.  Either 'Hidden' or could have found its way to your applications folder.

  • HT1338 App Store updates:  Repeated Error message saying I must sign in, though I already did.  , I click on update, Error message that I need to sign in to the same account I already signed in.

App Store updates:  I sign in, my password is accepted, I click on update, and still get the error message that I need to sign in to the same account I already signed in at.  What do I have to do to get my app updates?

Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
    1. Follow the instructions in the Apple Support article linked below:
Mac App Store: Cannot update App Store purchases or updates do not seem available
    2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
    3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
    4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
    5. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window may open with a file selected. If it does, delete the selected file. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Then repeat step 4.
    6. Select
    Store ▹ View My Account
from the App Store menu bar, then select View hidden purchases. If you're trying to update any hidden purchases, unhide them.
    7. Launch iTunes and select
    Store ▹ Authorize This Computer
    from the menu bar.
    8. If you've moved any App Store apps out of the applications folder, or into a subfolder, put them back. Never move or copy those applications.

I have Recently been trying to update several apps of mine, and when i click update all, or one at a time, it takes me straight to my billing information.
That's because the billing information is out of date or there was a problem with a previous purchase.
Then after that it says i need to pay to update my apps that have already been purchased or apps that i have gotten for free
No. That's not what it says. What is the EXACT message you get?
However, when i took my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.1  to the apple store, the "geniuses" have told me i have outstanding payments on an app so in order to update them, i need to go and purchase more itunes cards.. So i have went out and bought about Three 20$ itunes cards hoping that by using just 1 card - it would fix the problem im having. but it isnt.
Contact iTunes store support and find out what the problem is.
ALSO if i purchase an app without having the same amount of what it costs it will not let me buy/download it
Um... yeah... That's the way it works. If you want to buy something, you have to have enough to actually pay for it.

  • I can't log into itunes store, app store or software update since installing mavericks....help please?

Ever since downloading and installing Mavericks, I have been unable to use my apple id  on my Imac. I can't get into Itunes store, the App store or software update and it's driving me mad. Any ideas?
When I try and do software update, it gives error -1712. It's an Imac with 3.1GHz i5 and 4GB Ram

    Hi Carolyn,
tried that and it's the right ID, but when I go to Itunes and click on the store, it won't even access the store. If I try to sign in, it brings up the window, I put in my ID and hit enter.....it doesn't even change to my ID, just stays as 'sign in'
When I try and open the app store or software update, nothing appears in the app store window. It's like those particular apps aren't connecting to the internet. Don't use Safari, so don't know if that's affected, but Chrome and Firefox are fine.

    Hello Donna,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with your iPhone. If you are having issues completing your app updates, you may want to make sure you can otherwise access the iTunes Store/iOS App Store. You may want to try the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store - Apple Support
If the iOS version listing in your post profile is correct (iOS 8.0.2), you may also want to make sure that your iPhone is updated to the most recent version of iOS:

  • I have installed the latest OS X Updaate 10.8.4 - several times on my iMac, with restarts, but it won't disappear from my App Store update list.  Why?

I have installed the latest OS X Updaate 10.8.4 - several times on my iMac, with restarts, but it won't disappear from my App Store update list.  Why?   ..and how do I get rid of it?

I had a similar problem with trying to update using the App Store, and being told that the software was "installed" yet I was still only running 10.8.3.
The App Store was continually saying the 10.8.4 was available but with many tries I still could not download or install it.
And there are a few links to the OSX 10.8.4 (Combo) update that actually lead to a "Cant find this page error" on the Apple site and the App Store.
I did find a link to just the vanilla flavoured OSX 10.8.4 update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1658 which is a smaller download of 359mb rather than 849mb with the combo update.
The simple OSX 10.8.4 update downloaded fine with Safari and I installed it with no problems from the finder. A few opening's on closing's of the App Store app made the update flag finally disappear.
I have since come back here to report this and then found the link to 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo) at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659 above and found that this link also starts to download the update through Safari and while I decided that I no longer needed it, I would presume that it would still install fine from the finder like the OSX 10.8.4 update did.
So it seems to me that there is a problem with (maybe occasionally) updating from the App Store, but if you download from either of the two "hard" links above and install from the finder it should be fine.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

    Hi
    Pages 5.0 and 10.9.
While App Store tells me there is no update avalable to Pages, which it says was installed Nov. 4, its the old Avatar/logo thingo and, as I say, it will not open the Pages docs created on my MacBook, which definiitely does have the new Pages running smoothly.
    cheers
