App store won't let me update iphoto since upgrading to yosemite

i just upgraded to Yosemite, and now my dock shows the iPhoto icon with a slash over it saying that it's not compatible with Yosemite. when i go to the app store to update i get the message as follows -
Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
unfortunately i can't even find out what version of iPhoto i'm running because i can't open it.
anyone have any ideas on what's wrong? thanks in advance!

You should be able to go the Mac App Store, login with your Apple ID that you have set up and registered, and then since you just bought the iMac New you should find those two Apps to click on listed in the "Purchases" List that is associated with your Apple ID account.  You may or may not need to, for Free, redownload those two Apps from the Purchases List to trigger allowing Free Updates.  I'm not sure, not having done this that way.
Hope this helps

  • I have 2 Apple ID's but the app store will not let me update iPhoto with either

I have a MacBook pro 2011. For some reason i have ended up with 2 Apple ID's i must have forgotten something or i changed my account name from when i first set up the machine. Some apps allow me to upgrade with one but not the other. I have upgraded to Yosemite via a clean install at the Apple store. I have loaded back on my back up but iPhoto isn't there and it has asked me to upgrade via the App store. Unfortunately neither Apple ID's will let me upgrade.
    The Message on screen is:

Do i head back to the Apple store and talk with them or is there something i can do at home?
Thanks in advance of any help

I think you're confusing RAM memory with hard drive memory storage...the two aren't the same.
Although you're being told you need 2GB of RAM to run Mountain Lion....I would consider 4GB the minimum.  You should be able to upgrade the RAM in your iMac to 4GB for well under $100.

  • App Store won't let me update

I bought FCPX and is currently v10.0.  It shows there is a new version but he App store says "Final Cut Pro 10.0 is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store, Do you want to purchase for $299?", when in fact I did purchase with my Mac using my same MobileMe account?  Why does it not see that?  How am I supposed to upgrade?

Yes..  I am logged in.  I even tried logging out and back in, with both the App Store and my MobileMe system prefs.  Shows all of my purchases, but no updates available..  My other computer shows the update is available but I don't want it on that computer..  The one I want it on just doesn't see the available update..

If None is not available > Why can’t I select None when I edit my payment information?
Yes, you can redeem an iTunes gift card for current purchases.

And you can check the balance of a redeemed card >  Account Home - Apple Store

  • My app store won't let me download none of the older versions of apps for my ipod touch 2g.

My app store won't let me download any of the older versions of an app, but in my sisters case she can and she has an ipod touch 2g just like me. She was able to download kik, twitter, instagram, and some more apps that told me I had to have ios 4.3.1 or higher to download. and theres only one app I want and its kik, can someone help me figure out whats wrong with my app store, it would be a great help.

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • I've ju App Store won't let me upgrade the iPhoto ,it says update unavailable with this apple id store (something like that). What can I do to fix this. I want to be able to access my photos. Thank you.

what should i do when the app store doesn't allow me to upgrade iPhoto after i upgraded my mac to yosemite?

To upgrade to iPhoto 9.6.1  you must first delete all previous versions of iPhoto that are on your hard drive. Also delete any alias files that you may have created for iPhoto.
Next go to the App Store and look under Purchases for iPhoto 9.6.1.  You should be able to download and install it.

  • I recently moved and itunes store won't let me update credit card information

I recently moved and Apple won't let me update my credit card and billing information!!  Can someone please help?!?!?

I'm having a same issue, can't store my card information in the system. does anyone knows why?

  • App Store won't let me sign in

There is but one problem. When asked to log into App Store, in my case to download some updates for my Macbook, the username and password dialog box already have a username written in – and it's greyed out, so I can't change it.
Now here's the twist: It's not my username that is greyed out.
In fact, after trying several times, I realise the dialog box only gives me two options, switching between two e-mail addresses I don't own. Surprisingly enough though, I know who owns one of the e-mail addresses, and it's a close friend of mine. I'm a 100 % positive this isn't something he has done on purpose. But the problem still remains, and none of us know why.
So I got an idea, that if my friend could log into his account, and then log out afterwards, the App Store dialog box would allow me to write my own username. I tried that, and it worked great – until I was rejected in the same way as before, after having rebooted the Macbook.
I have searched many apple forums for the answer to this, but it seems I am alone with this. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Here's a photo of the dialog box, with a greyed out apple ID field.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds," or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.

  • TS1702 I restored my iPod touch 1st generation and the App Store won't let me download apps I previously had.

I got an iPod touch 1st generation and downloaded loads of apps, some paid some free. A few weeks ago I restored the iPod touch and when I went to download apps that I had already owned it said I needed a newer iOS.  It says I need iOS 4.3 and I have iOS 4.2.1 and when i tried to update it says I have no software updates.

Do you have any of those apps saved on your computer, in iTunes?
It is true that your 1st generation iPad is already now running the highest version of iOS it can. It cannot be updated further.  If the developer has pulled the older versions of their apps and now only offers versions requiring iOS 5 or 6 then you will not be able to run those apps any longer (unless you kept backup copies of the older versions in iTunes on your computer).
Developers determine what version(s) of their apps are in the App Store. As many have updated their apps to take advantage of the enhancements in iOS 6 , they've pulled their older versions and no longer support them.

  • App store won't let me re-install iphoto

please help i cant re-install iphoto from the app store

Are you logged into the App Store with the Apple ID used when you purchased iPhoto? If you click into the Purchases list is there an active Install button for iPhoto?
    If not then try this:
Open App Store and log in with your Apple ID. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases tab in the App Store toolbar. You should now see an active Install button for your missing iPhoto. If not then see the following:
Download Previous Purchases from the App Store
If you have made various purchases that you need to re-download due to data loss or a lost iDevice then you have these options:
How to re-download purchased apps from the App Store
In the US you can use the iCloud beta:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes
If all this fails, then in App Store click on the Support link in Quick Links and send an email request for assistance.

  • Won't let me update iPhoto or iMovie

I just bought my MacBook Pro in August; online...so i set it up myself when it got to my home. I have been the only one to use it; set it up under my own itunes/app store account -- did all of my purchases and downloads under that account. But ever since the first week or two of having it, the app store has shown that updates are available for iPhoto and iMovie and it won't let me use those updates because it says that i used a different account to purchase them. I know that's not true -- as i states above, i've been the only one to use this computer and have only ever used my one account. However, when i look at the purchase history of my itunes account, iPhoto and iMovie aren't showing up so they're not registered under this account. I have no idea which account they could be registered under because i never use another account.
    Any fix to this?

Click on MAS, then click under purchases tab. Do you see these apps waiting for you to ACCEPT them?
If not, then something bad went wrong somewhere, so contact iTS.

  • I bought Aperature and PS from a university store, not under my apple username, now it won't let me update it to work with Yosemite because it isn't hooked to my username.  how do i fix it and get the upgrade

A few years ago or so i bought Aperture and Photoshop (the whole kit and caboodle) from a university subsidized store (my husband worked there and buying programs like those two, the whole Microsoft office Suite, all kinds of things) at a very significant discount, i think we paid 25$ for Photoshop vs the 400$ it was selling for on the open market.
Yesterday i upgraded most of my laptops to Yosemite (one of them I'm sure was the one that had Aperture on it, a 17in MacBookPro, its about 2 years old now, but at the time i bought it it was the highest computer apple had on the regular floor, I'm sure i could have added some stuff to customize it for extra, but basically we are talking top of the line computer.  I recently just required a 2012 MackBook Air with also fairly heavy specs from a family member that was upgrading (I'm not sure why, i know they couldn't possibly be using this thing for anything beyond its capacity, its basically new,  and they aren't 3D animation rendering and needed a "quicker" one).
I was very happy with the upgrade, and now it does work much more seamlessly with my iPads and my iPhone, but the whole reason i uploaded it was to work on pictures, adjust them, change the size and then print them out to include in jewelry, and Yosemite won't let me use Aperture at all, when i click to upgrade it (in the bar all it has basically old icon with a (no sign or ghost busters like sign over it) i click on it and it says, you did not buy this with your apple account name and i could not upgrade it.  But it just made me click ok, and did not give me any info on how to upgrade it.  i do physically own it, or my husband does, I'm not sure to whom it is registered, but sholdnt i still make it able to work with this new operating system, even if not through regular "software updates"  it used to always be asking me to upgrade "word" and i got that in the same way, so what is the issue and what do i do to get it to work on this new system?

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much.  Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it.  I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names.  isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,
    sarucia
