App stuck under Menu Bar after Unlock

Random application's Title bars are getting stuck under the Menu Bar at the top left of the screen after I unlock my Air.  Attempts to drag the window to a different location results in them snapping back to the original position.  The only fix is to close the application and restart.
Anyone else seeing this?  Could this be an Accessibility option that's on that shouldn't be?

I ended up re installing Mavericks after the last update (10.9.1) from a bootble USB stick. The problem appears to have gone away, so maybe my original upgrade of Mavericks caused the problem???
I downloaded Mavericks again from the app store. When it had finished downloading (approx 5Gb) I exited the installer and created a bootable USB (needs to be 8GB minimum). Then booted from USB and ran the Mavericks installer. As I said problem seems to have disappeared......
I used this article http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html and used the method in Option 1 in the article to create the drive. A Synopsis of the steps are:
Format the USB using Disk Utility to Mac OS Extended with GUID partition.
Open Terminal and paste the following command press Return and enter admin password when prompted
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
It takes a while to create and copy the installer. (Could be up to 30 mins)
Finally reboot and hold down Option key while computer boots then select the USB drive.

  • Window on mac is stuck under menu bar

window on mac is stuck under menu bar

In case this happens to anyone else (and searching the web, it seems fairly common), the application that was having this problem for me was iTunes.  Stuck under the menu bar, no way to move it.  I could get it to go full screen, but going back to a window put it in the same stuck position. Quitting and restarting the application didn't help.
Finally found a solution that worked for me (2013 MacBook Air, Mavericks);  I usually have an external monitor plugged in when I'm at home, which enabled the following:
I right-clicked the iTunes icon in the Dock, went to "Options" in the popup menu, and selected "Assign to Desktop on Display 2" (which is my Air's built-in screen).  I then started the application, and it opened in the middle of the Air screen.  After that I could move it anywhere (and I reassigned it to "All Desktops" from Options).
    Hope this helps someone...

  • On screen Keyboard stuck under menu bar

On one of my GB songs when I select window> Keyboard, to get the onscreen keyboard to show, half of it is running off the top of my screen under the menu bar. I cannot click and drag it down so I can use it. It allows me to stretch it to the right but I cant click on a part of it that allows me to move it/re-position it on screen. The position it is in now will not allow me to use it.
    Help Please.
    Paul

Hey thanks a lot! It was very nice of you. I have noticed that you help a lot of people with GB in these forums. Every time I search these forums I see your name helping out someone. You should be commended:)
Back to the topic at hand, After reading your post I tried something and it worked. What was happening is when I recorded or worked on something on my 17" MacBook Pro and then brought it over to my G5 with regular (non widescreen format) dual displays it was forcing the keyboard off the screen. So I tried opening the file on the MBP and moved the keyboard way down to the bottom, saved, moved the file to the G5, and when I opened it the keyboard was in the middle. Problem solved.
You learn something new everyday. And I am sure this will happen to someone else and hopefully they will search these forums and find this post for a solution.
    Thanks Again,
    Paul

  • Weird open command stuck under menu bar for just one specific file

I'm having a weird problem where a little arrow in a small grey box sits under the menu bar, no matter which program is active. If I roll over it, an icon for a quicktime file shows. Clicking it open a specific file. It's one I had dragged to the desktop from the trash. If I click the icon, it opens the file from the trash. If I delete the trash, the little grey box and arrow stays there, pointing to the file in the trash even though it doesn't exist anymore. I cannot get rid of it!
Here are some screenshots since this is hard to explain.

  • Username not in menu bar after reset

My username used to display in the menu bar after I updated to Lion. However, the Apple techs recently had to completely reset my MacBook to fix a software problem. Ever since, the username hasn't shown up. Obviously this isn't a serious issue, I would just like to know why it disappeared and be able to put it on there again. I tried going to Users & Groups in System Preferences and looking for some option to "show username" like the answers to a similar question on this site suggested, but I couldn't find any box like that to check, this is all that shows up when I click Users & Groups. Anyone know how to change it?

I don't know what sytem you're on but it's more or less the same on the last few - tiger, leopard, lion etc. You just need to open your login options ans check the fast user switching name .... if I remember correctly.
Here's one of many web pages explain the process :

  • Application stuck under menu toolbar

An application I'm running (Filezilla FTP client) is stuck under the mac menu toolbar. I can't grab the toolbar of the application to move it or access what I need to access. I've researched this issue and other people have had the same problem, but none of their solutions have worked for me. I've tried changing the resolution of my screen, disconnecting my dual monitor, "zoom" is not available in the program I'm working with, and I've tried a multitude of expose/spaces/random key commands to no avail. Any other ideas?
    Using 10.9.5

I can't see from your screenshot if there available screen space around the window. You could try dragging the window down from one of the bottom edge - making it smaller first if necessary (when the cursor is near the edge it has double arrow that indicates changing the window size), then make sure that your mouse is enough inside the window that the cursor is a normal one-arrow and drag it down. Repeat if necessary until the title bar reappears.

  • Java windows slip under menu bar, how to move?

Hi, I have accidently dragged some Java windows beneath the (transparent) menu bar.
Safari browser windows do not slip under the menu bar, but those created by a Java application can slide beneath it, up to the edge of the screen...just far enough to make accessing their title bars impossible. I'm able to resize the Java windows by dragging their accessible edges but I am unable to click on their title bars in order to drag them back down beneath the menu bar.
How can I click upon title bars or resize these windows to lower them in desktop space, so their title bars are lower than the menu bar? I am currently unable to drag or click upon their obscured title bars to move these windows. Is there another way to move windows without clicking upon their title bars?
    thanks

apparently there is a third party app called windowsmover or something like that

  • Why does bookmarks disappear in menu bar after shutting down?, Why does bookmarks disappear in menu bar after shutting down?, Why does bookmarks disappear in menu bar after shutting down?

Why does bookmarks in menu bar disappear after shutting down and turning mac on?

When I am in "COLLECTIONS AND BOOKMARKS" view, I changed the name of the folder that is listed under "bookmarks" (that is designed to be a drop-down menu on the Bookmark Bar), I changed the name to "TV 1" from "TV Shows". I also added another folder under the Bookmarks called "TV 2" and I dragged and dropped two bookmarks from the "Bookmarks Menu" listing to the "TV 2" folder, and yet Safari would not update in real-time the Bookmark Bar to recognize that I created a "TV 2" folder/drop-down menu, nor did it update the contents of "TV Shows" to become "TV 1".
The only way I was able to update the drop-down menu bookmark folders on the Bookmark Bar was to drag-and-drop them one at a time from the "COLLECTIONS and BOOKMARKS" view.
Is it just me or is this a ******** way of updating bookmarks?
I think it is perfectly fine as being ONE WAY of updating bookmarks, but there really should be "real-time" updating of bookmarks. That is to say, I should be able to choose "bookmark this page" and add it to the folder named "TV Shows" and automatically see Safari update it without having to make two steps: 1) choosing the bookmark, and 2) going into the list of bookmarks to manually drag and drop the bookmark into the Bookmark Bar that contains the folder/drop-down menu.

  • Adobe Application Manager Stuck in Menu Bar - Mac

    Hello,
A few years ago, before I upgraded to my own Mac, I installed the CS5 trial on my husband's Mac, seeing if his computer could handle the Creative Suite. Well, it couldn't. It's an older Mac, so I purchased my own,and have since upgraded to Creative Cloud on my own Mac.
The Adobe Application Manager is still stuck on my husband's Mac. I have uninstalled the entire CS5 suite, (I downloaded a trial version to his computer at least two years ago), run the Adobe Cleaner, and also used CleanMyMac. The updated with the number is still stuck in his menu bar.
I tried to reinstall the Adobe Application Manager this morning, from the Adobe website, but I am receiving an error on the installation. HELP! This computer does not have any of the Adobe Creative Suite products anymore, so I can't open the Application Manager and disable it. I did try to open his Adobe Reader, and click on Check For Updates, but that just tells me that Adobe Reader is up-to-date.

    Let's see...
Ok - In the Language tab everything's listed (and probably has been since 2008) with English at the top - so I'll delete everything except English and reboot.
And... I'll be darned.  Now the AAM UI is in English.
So I wonder why this has never cropped up in the 4+ years I've been running this rig?
Oh well - this workaround will get me through the installs, but it seems like the AAM could use a little polish in this area
    Thanks!

  • Windows slide under Menu Bar

I've noticed recently that I can make application windows slide under the Menu Bar.  Some slide under then 'snap' back into view when I release the mouse button holding the window down.  Others that don't display the grey bar at the top of the window (like the iTunes mini player for example) don't 'snap' back into view.
Anyone else have this issue or offer a solution?  I am running 10.8.5.  Thanks.

Render at least standard sized previews for all photos prior to displaying in the slideshow.

  • Adobe Updater icon no longer in menu bar after latest Cloud updates ...

... or maybe it's actually the Adobe Applications Manager, I don't know.
How do I get it back?

Thanks for your response. It could be that there isn't a problem.
But since I bought the Creative Cloud, there has always been a small red icon in the menu bar (along with the Apple icons for WiFi, BlueTooth, etc.) for the Adobe Application Manager. I could launch the Application Manager right from there if I wanted to check for updates, but the chief value was that the Application Manager was always on the lookout for any Cloud updates. When there was an update, there would be a number displayed right on the icon that essentially said that there was one (or two or three) updates available. When you see the number, you run the updater.
But recently, that icon in the menu bar has vanished and I don't know if Adobe Application Manager is still actively looking for updates.
I can still launch the Adobe Application Manager from the Apps folder or from the dock and the AAM shows a list of Cloud apps and indicates whether they are installed or not. But no mention about updates.
Yes, I can check for updates from any Cloud App and that launches AAM which reports that there are no new updates. And I can click on Preferences and check the box that says "Notify me of new updates in the menu bar." So maybe the icon will appear in the menu bar if there is an update?
A minor issue, I know, but that little icon used to be in the menu bar all the time ... and seemed to be looking for updates.
    Thanks,
    Brad

  • Cannot click bookmarks on menu bar after ALT-key when menu bar is hidden

If you personalize the toolbars, dock the "Bookmarks objects" to the menu bar (useful to reduce space) and hide the menu bar (making it visible by pressing the ALT key) you're not able to click a bookmarks bar's item anymore because (after having shown it by pressing ALT key) as you click the bookmark button the menu bar loses focus causing the whole bar to be hidden again and the click event to be catched by the main window instead of the bookmark button.
[http://alextm.no-ip.com/bookmarks_on_menubar.JPG Screenshot of the header with bookmarks]

With F10 you obtain the same result, the menu bar is shown but when you click on a non-menu item the bar is hidden again not allowing the bookmark item to catch the click event.
Of course I know how to move the bookmarks bar back to the tab bar, but it is not a solution to the problem I've posted, just a workaround. As I've said in my previous post I've moved the bookmarks bar there to limit the height of the window's heading section: if I move it down again I miss my target.
Anyway, I don't think we are here to decide wherever to place the bookmarks bar, but to notify to the developers the presence of this issue.

  • Remove private app icon from menu bar in Lion

  • Missing Status Icons on the Menu bar after update Maverick

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.systemuiserever.plist file to the Trash.
Then check the status menu bar.

  • Problems with Menu Bar after recent security update

Ever since installing yesterday's security update I have been having problems with the menu bar. When clicking on the blue Apple in the upper left hand corner, no drop-down menu appears as it should. This problem also occurs in the drop-down menu named for the program in various instances (Thunderbird, Azureus, iTunes, Finder, Firefox) but not in others (Safari, Adium, VLC). Sometimes the menus are simply truncated and do not include all the options they should rather than not opening at all.
I have run Disk Utlity which found no problems and have performed a hard restart multiple times but the problem persists. Any advice would be very helpful. Thank you.

Thanks for the help. I tried most of the solutions listed in the link you supplied, but am still having the same problem. However, when I tried to run the Tiger Cache Cleaner, I got the following error message:
    Runtime Error 4: Failed Assertion
    Location: /Volumes/RBUS/Common/MacOs/MacOSMenu.cpp:420
    Failure Condition: appMenu
    Failure Message:
Please report what caused this error along with the details above.
