App swipe features magic trackpad mavericks

I can not get the settings to save, they keep going back to 4 fingers and then not working. I am reffering to the settings in Magic Trackpad on a brand new mac mini with mavericks and a new trackpad. I want 3 finger drag enabled, 3 fingers swipe between apps and 3 finger swipe up for mission control. ***? I just spent $70 yesterday for a piece of hardward that doesn't work? I have to drive 30 minutes just to get to the apple store. I already did the reboot>>> command, option, P, R and it worked once then snapped back to the defualt for fingers etc. screenshots provided. I might be willing to accept a 4 finger swipe that it wants to default at, but that doesn't even work. HELP! FRUSTRATING.
I have 13 days before I return this product if not fixed.
it happens as soon as I close system preferences.

BDAqua,
No it does not matter. It either works for one swipe, or when I switch from "more gestures" back to "point & click" then back to "more gestures" it already changes back. As far as the plist you mention.
After reading this discussions forum below, I am now able to use 4 fingers to swipe between apps. Content for now. But for my memory I would lke to use 3 fingers like the software says I can. Only been 20 minutes so I am crossing my fingers. Apparently the "BIG GLITCH" is when I want to 3 fingers to drag.. it confuses the swipe gesture. I think if i were a computer i would do that also. time will tell. i can live with 4 fingers. "as long as I have them"

  • Swipe between pages feature is freezing with magic mouse and magic trackpad in Mavericks

I am experiencing a bug in Mavericks with my Magic trackpad and the Magic mouse. This bug comes and goes and is very sporadic. When it happens I am usually in a browser like Firefox or Safari, or in iPhoto. Anything that uses the Swipe between pages feature usually locks up, and  on top of this it locks the scroling up and down function in the browsers and in iPhoto. The only thing that makes these functions work again is to reeboot or turn off bluetooth and turn it back on. I see that many people are having this problem in other posts, and I am just wondering if Apple is actually working on this bug or has somebody found what trigers this bug and do they have the fix for it?
    Thanks for your help

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Four fingers swipe won't work on magic trackpad

    Hello,
just bought a magic trackpad to use with my macbook pro and a second display. Mainly, I purchased the accessory for the four fingers swipe between full screen apps and it doesn't work.
If I change the command to a 3 fingers swipe, it does work, but then, I can't use the 3 fingers drag.
    Any solution ?

    This solved everything :

Just turn off every gesture settings and put them back on. Works fine now!

  • Magic Trackpad and Logitech keyboard hangs with Mavericks

Since updating to Mavericks, both my Logitech keyboard (DiNovo) and Magic Trackpad hang when chaning from one window to the next. I've reinstalled the latest drivers from Logitech, but that did not have any affect on the problem. Am I alone?

I had the same problem.  I had the DiNovo and the Magic Mouse connected to my iMac.  After the upgrade to Maverics, both devices would hang frequently (both when I selected to a new window and otherwise).
I got fed up and installed a USB keyboard, decommissioning the DiNovo.  I would have put away the Magic Mouse too, but I couldn't find my USB mouse.
Funny thing is, after I removed the DiNovo, the Magic Mouse seems to be working fine.

  • Using Magic Trackpad in 3D Apps

To those who often use a 3D app or other design & rending software,
Is anyone out there using the magic trackpad and if they could share their experience of this product in a 3D application? And does anyone have any recommendation for a newer 3D modeling app that works well in Lion?

Sorry, I did not know this question had been answered yet here

  • My magic trackpad has issue with 3 finger swipe between applications or swipe issue after OS X 10.8.1 update.

    hi,
my magic trackpad has issue with 3 finger swipe between applications or swipe issue after OS X 10.8.1 update.
Anyone facing the same issue? Thanks.

Did you check System Preferences - Trackpad ? Also I'm not sure exactly what 3 fingered swipe are you referring to?

  • Any one has problems with Magic Trackpad´s gestures on mavericks?

all my gestures have fade away with my last upgrade to 10,9,1, Even they appear to be activated but they just doesn´t work.
    any one solved it?

    Hi totito1984,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
My first suggestion is to simply restart your computer which will reset your Magic Trackpad.
If that does not resolve the issue ... try the troubleshooting steps in this article:

  • My Magic Trackpad won't do all the Lion gestures.

I can do Swipe between pages and Show Desktop and Launchpad, but not Mission Control or App Expose.  All gestures work on the MB Air 13, but not on the Magic Trackpad.  Any ideas?

I have a similar problem. The zooming  in/out does not work, or is very slow on my iMac 2010.
In preferences all is checked. The swiping of pages is not working.
And comparing with my iPad, the gestures on on my magic trackpad are very poor indeed!
    Not what I expected.

btw: the spelling corrector in this reply is not working, so excuse my spelling and grammar.
Could this be caused by Lion?

  • Back functionality in Safari broken with 9.1 with Magic Trackpad?

Mavericks 10.9.1 update appears to have broken the use of Safari 'back' gesture, but only for standalone Magic Trackpad users? Trying to swipe with two fingers from left to right to go back simply moves the front browser pane a few mm's then stops. You can no longer interact with the page, and have to either close and reopen safari, or pop open the MBP and use the onboard trackpad, in which case you can continue the gesture through to completion, then go back to using the standalone trackpad. It's as tho with Magic Trackpad it gets stuck just after the gesture/back animation begins.
Anyone else seeing this or just me?

    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Test.
    2. There are reports that this problem can be solved by simply restarting, or by resetting the PRAM.

  • Magic trackpad freezing

Ok, very simply put, I have a 2006 Mac Pro running 10.7.5 fully patched as of today.  I also have the Magic Trackpad (A1339) running over bluetooth to control my pointer.
My issue is this, if I attempt to "Swipe between full-screen apps" left or right with three fingers (or four, depending on configuration under System Preferences), the pointer will freeze for a period of time, up to 10 seconds. This problem is driving me *insane* since I perform multi finger swipes on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro with ease.
What is it with the Magic Trackpad configuration on my Mac Pro that causes the pointer to freeze?

Hi guys, I had the same problem. After some trying around, I noticed that, from the Trackpad settings, pushing "Set Up Bluetooth Trackpad" would bring it to life again. I used Finder via the keyboard (Cmd-Space) and started typing "trackpad". Then pressed Tab several times to highlight the "Set Up... button". Pressed Space and voila, it worked again.
However, the three finger freeze was still there. Turned out that changing the "Tracking Speed" solved the problem completely. Must have been a glimps in the settings or someting... Hope it stays like this.
    Share the experience!

  • Cursor freezes soon after waking from sleep, Magic Trackpad

I have a mid-2011 21.5" iMac with a Magic Trackpad. Cursor sometimes freezes within a few minutes of waking from sleep. Sometimes it happens several times a day, sometimes I've gone almost a week without it happening. Keyboard continues to work but trackpad is non-responsive. To get it working again I go to Spotlight using the keyboard and search Bluetooth, arrow down to Bluetooth System Preferences in the Spotlight results. After a little while the cursor starts working again.
When it happens this appears in the Console:

This is what I've tried over the past six months: I have tried 3 pairs of Apple recharger batteries (same batteries work fine in keyboard) and a new pair of Energizer batteries, I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC. Three clean installs of Mavericks: First clean install I restored from Time Machine backup. Second clean install I did Migration Assistant from SuperDuper backup. Third time I created new user and did manual drag and drop from backup of user files and manually reinstall apps. I did not move over my fonts in case there were any corrupt ones, so the only fonts I have came with Mavericks. I have a new trackpad courtesy of AppleCare, as well as a new Bluetooth board. I have tried trashing the Bluetooth prefs, removing the trackpad from the Bluetooth list and pairing again. I have seached for solutions in the discussions as well as other sites.
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

I had the same problem. I have found a work around - sort of. I have unchecked the option to "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" (System Preferences / Bluetooth / Advanced). I no longer have the problem. Having to wake the computer another way (I have a USB wireless mouse so no problem for me) and waiting a second or two for the bluetooth devices to connect is less annoying than continually losing trackpad connection. I hope that helps you too.

  • My mac pro won't pair with my magic trackpad.

I'm posting in this forum because I am using a Mac Pro, what we used to call a "tower," and my Magic Trackpad isn't recognized & won't pair. This has been an increasing problem over the past year, and I actually blamed the trackpad and bought a new one -- and of course it doesn't work either. My MacBook Pro (actually two of them) use the same latest version of Mountain Lion and they pair up just fine, never dropping the connection. I'm an old-timer with 25 years on the Mac, and I'm stumped. The support forums here confirm that this is a common problem -- MT not pairing -- and I have tried every suggestion I can find. Booting in safe mode, repairing permissions, trashing the bluetooth prefs file, VRAM and SMC resets, moving computer away from any possible interference, and probably two or three more I can't recall. I don't have any exotic apps installed (there's one that has something to do with Windows that can cause this problem, but I don't have it), nothing on the tower that's not on the two laptops running the same OS X version. For the record, I have a 2x2.8 Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 4 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, all the original Apple installation. OS X is 10.8.4. I've tried three different brands of alkaline batteries. For a time the problem was intermittent (the dreaded "dropped connection") but now it doesn't pair up at all, i.e. neither of my two trackpads pair up. I've let the "searching" function run for as long as 30 minutes, including some restarts of the trackpad...you get the picture. Although this has been addressed in other places in support, I am posting here because so far I don't have a solution. Any ideas? I really appreciate the forum, have been here a long time, and hope that someone has that next good idea that's going to help me. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem as you with Bluetooth stuff. It was suggested to me that I buy an external BT dongle
as the bluetooth reception in the stock Mac Pro was spotty at best.I did so- iogear 421 (the 521 is supported but ONLY in Mountain Lion, so I was told) and bluetooth works just fine.  Of course it might be that the cables for your Bluetooth/Airport card in your Mac Pro could have been installed incorrectly (just google bluetooth in Mac Pro help) but...if they have been, then the dongle might be your best bet, or some kind of external antenna
(the G5 had one, as you may know, but we don't......)
I see by your posting you have tried every suggestion you possibly could, and it's not software related
    and it's not a simple one-shot-done fix...
that's the best I have for now. I think I paid about $25 for the dongle and it was easy as pie to install

  • Magic Trackpad won't work with Magic Mouse on brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac

I have a brand new 2011 27" i5 iMac which I bought with Snow Leopard pre-loaded. Naturally, I included the new Magic Trackpad in my purchase, and though there were some problems with the device in SL - such as it going haywire without explanation - it generally worked, although battery levels were erratic (one day 80%, then an hour later 42%, then 80% again).
When I installed Lion I did a clean install after backing up to Time Machine - and a Super Dupered external drive. I had some difficulties trying to install Lion from an external flash drive so I deleted again and reinstalled SL, then reinstalled over the SL install I did (with no other software except Mac OS X 10.6.8 and other system updates to facilitate install). Rather than copying apps from my old SL drive, I downloaded fresh copies and reinstalled one by one. I don't use a lot of apps apart from Microsoft Office, browsers and iLife and have not installed any additional scripts, extensions or add-ons (like USB Overdrive). It's a pretty clean install.
Since then, although I'm generally happy with Lion, the Magic Trackpad won't work! It does work for a little while with basic gestures - mainly moving the cursor and scrolling - then it gives up the ghost and loses connectivity. I have done the following:
Disconnected and reconnected the MTP after turning it on and off. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Shut the computer down, pulled out the plug, waited two minutes, then started up again. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Run Onyx, shut down computer, then pulled out plug (see above).
Checked options in Universal Access, shut off "Ignore other devices when trackpad in use" (or whatever the option is). MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
Turned off the Magic Mouse. MTP works for about two minutes, goes crazy then no response.
But none of this seems to work! I know the MTP is connected because I can see it in the BT menu in the menu bar and also in System Preferences. I have noticed since upgrading that my permissions - which when I bought the computer were totally clean - now run lines and lines about "Library/Core Services" so I am unsure whether this is related. I also notice a lot of people are in the same boat as me, which makes me wonder if it's either a hardware issue or a release issue - after a week or so of totally silent running, my 2TB Hitachi HDD started up with the grumbly tum. I'd really appreciate any tips from anyone out there!

    Hi, marksaner
You could try installing the latest version of the Synaptics driver. Synaptics is the company that makes the UltraNav driver and drivers for many other computer brands. This driver should have the same functionality as the UltraNav driver, so there's no worry there. You can find the driver here.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Macbook Pro and Magic TrackPad don't pair correctly

    Hi
Today I bought a Magic Track Pad and tried to pair it with my Macbook Pro (early 2010, running 10.6.8).
    The steps i did:
    1. Open System Prefernces > Trackpad > Confige Bluetooth Trackpad
    2. Turned the Trackpad on (After a second it was blinking, as it should)
         - so far so good
    3. Clicked on "Continue"
    4. Got this error message: http://cl.ly/451t241v3m2W1E3J173L/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.47.52.png
    5. Clicked on Continue with the following message: http://cl.ly/3E3u2t0h2X3K3h0k1y0b/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.48.08.png
          - the setup doesn't find the trackpad anymore
    6. The Trackpad works as mouse but without the multitouch gestures.
    7. It appear in the bluetooths settings: http://cl.ly/1B3I362D36263i121B3g/Screen_shot_2011-08-05_at_12.48.33.png
    Before you ask:
Afterwords I tried nearly every other connecting order
My system is up to date
    I tried a restart
I downloaded the update "Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0" - the setup don't want to install the update: "not necessary"
The Trackpad works perfectly with another Mac (plastic-unibody Macbook from 2009)
So what should I do? Any idea?
    Regards
    Fabian

In cases like this, many times there is a conflict with 3rd party apps.  USBoverdrive seems to be the most frequent.  If this doesn't apply than try a pram reset and a SMC reset.

  • Anyone using the magic trackpad with iPhoto 11 in fullscreen mode?

I love fullscreen mode in the new release of iPhoto. Does the magic trackpad make it more iPad/phone like?

To answer you question, no. I have the trackpad and it does NOT make the experience any different than it is on a laptop. There is NOT any iPad like gestures that are included in the Photo App on the iPad. I thought there would be some but unfortunately there are not magic things LIKE the iPad
