App switcher on wrong monitor (Mavericks)

The app switcher (command + tab) appears on the second monitor rather than the main one. Seems to be tied directly to where you have your dock. Grrr. I have my dock on my second monitor. I want the app switcher to be on main Cinema.
I did uncheck "displays have different Spaces". No worky.
Workarounds?

To clarify, App Switcher under Mavericks (10.9.0) is shown on the monitor on which the dock was last accessed. Under Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion, App Switcher was shown on the monitor on which the menu bar had been placed under System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement (i.e. the pimary monitor).
I suspect that the majority of us who are finding this change in behaviour so troublesome are multi-monitor power users who barely ever use the Dock and prefer to have it out of the way on the far left/right with Dock Hiding enabled, and instead of the Dock use a combination of Spotlight, App Switcher & Cmd-Q to open, switch between and quit applications. If you use a similar workflow (as I suspect many multi-monitor users do) permanently having App Switcher on the same monitor as the dock (i.e. one of the secondary monitors) is extremely un-ergonomic - are you listening Apple?
The only way at present to get App Switcher to permanently appear on the primary monitor is to set the dock position to Bottom and then disable the menu bars on secondary monitors by un-checking "Displays have separate Spaces" under System Preferences > Mission Control before logging out and back in to apply the changed preference. This is the solution which I have personally opted for untill Apple (hopefully) fix the behaviour.
I think that either one of the following behaviours would much better serve the majority of multi-display users...
1) The Application Switcher is always displayed on the monitor on which the menu bar has been placed under System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement (i.e. exactly how it was under Snow Leopard, Lion & Mountain Lion)
2) The Application Switcher is displayed on the display with the active (opaque) menu bar.
...or better yet a system preference to toggle between either of the above.
I hate to keep repeating myself, but to anyone reading this - if you want to see the behaviour changed (back to how it was) you're going to have to ask Apple to change it.

The command-tab pop-up list of apps switches monitors sometimes on my two-monitor system. Why? Why doesn't it always appear on the monitor with menubar specified in Displays preference panel? How do I switch it back when it moves to the wrong monitor? Very annoying because I can't figure out why it moves to the other monitor in the first place! (actually running OS X 10.9.4 -- not Mavericks -- but you don't seem to have a community for OS X 10.9)

That unfortunately doesn't work. I just tried it. For the last couple minutes, the command-tab app list has been appearing on my "main" monitor (the one I selected in Display prefs to have the menu bar). When I click in my "secondary" monitor to highlight its menu bar and then type command-tab, the app list still appears on the main monitor. Doesn't make a difference whether I click on the desktop background or a Finder window or an app window on the secondary monitor, when I hit command-tab the app list still appears on the main monitor. And all of that is OK. I'd like to have the command-tab app list ALWAYS appear on the main window.
The problem is that sometimes the app list switches to the secondary monitor and I don't know why. And after that happens, I can click all I want on the main monitor -- desktop, Finder window, application window -- and the app list still appears on the secondary window when I type command-tab. I'll give up trying to make it switch to the main window and then, at some point, I'll notice that it has switched back to the main window. I can't figure out why it has this behavior, which seems to be random. Or at least I can't figure out what to do to make the pop-up app list return to the main window.

Apple has sort of screwed up the whole full-screen / multi-screen features of OSX. I get it's hard to achive it all in a "perfect way" for everyone but the so called "improved" multi-screen features of 10.9 add a number of issue on top of the "fixes".
1. Switching between apps with CMD + TAB is bugged with using 10.9 screen-setup. The OS doesn't understand what screen I'm using and the CMD + TAB feature shows up on screen 1 or screen 2. The only way I've found to controll this is by activating the DOCK on either screen which is a very bad solution.
2. Spotlight searching always follows the "active" screen. At least 10.9 understands what screen is my active one but in this case I never ever want screen 2 to have Spotlight on it. Very irriting.
3. Remembering application positions. If I open an app from the dock on screen 1, place it on screen 2 close it and again open it from the dock on screen 1 the app will open on screen 1 and not screen 2. Some apps will remember certain windows on the correct display. A solution is to open the app from the dock on the display you want it on. Very irritiating.
4. Swiching between apps is also bugged. Concider I have mail on screen 2 and a new mail window on screen 1. I CMD + TAB to Safari on screen 2 after starting to write the new mail on screen 1. No problems here. If I now howvever CMD + TAB back to mail, the last active window (new mail window on screen 1) won't be active. Very irritating.
As noted above, going back to what we had in 10.7 and 10.8 solves these issues but doesn't solve Apples horrible fullscreen app issues. I'd go as far as saying Apple hasn't really fixed anything in 10.9 - only cause more issues and confusing behavoir. Fullscreen apps are often very lacking in funktion, having safari or mail fullscreen renders them on a large screen very very limited compared to "maximized". It's also very confusion that you are required to travel between virtual desktops to use full-screen apps. I personally would prefer the option of "layered fullscreen apps". For example VLC allows me to work this way.

You will only lose Power PC apps.
To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Mavericks.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors in 2006 they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

Why Do the App Switcher and Dock Hide Running Apps?

I've come to realize—to my great annoyance—that the behavior of the command-tab app switcher has changed.
If I have an app launched that has no documents currently open, the app doesn't appear in the app switcher or the dock. The only way I can see it's open is by looking at DragThing, my third-party launcher. Since I return to Pages and Preview throughout the day, opening and closing documents as I need them, this is really an inconvenience for me.
Does anyone know of a way to disable this behavior and have both command-tab and the dock show all running apps the way it always did before Mavericks?

Because my dock's already too full with apps that are even more frequently used. Using the app switcher became part of my workflow long ago, and I'm sorry to lose it.

Move all windows of an app to a second monitor

Is there a way to move all the windows belonging to an app to the second monitor, all at once? I tried clicking on the app icon in mission control and dragging the windows to the second monitor but that does not work.

No, as yet there's no method for doing this (or the opposite - moving all windows from a second monitor to the main one). Maybe this'll be addressed in Mavericks?

When I app switch back to Photoshop, any selected text is deleted - in text elements or Inspector values.
I get the same behaviour in Dreamweaver, but not in any other applications (including Microsoft, Apple apps). I haven't tried in any other Adobe apps.
When I use another user account on my computer, I cannot replicate the problem.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 on Macbook Air running Mavericks.

well i think u really lost ur work and data, so u need to redo again all the stuff...
and that's the reason i haven't upgrading my OS, bcoz I have the same issue I'm affraid that all my third apps lost.
next time u should buy HDD Ext so u can backup through time machine before upgrading OS.

How to monitor mavericks download progress

How do I monitor Mavericks download progress? I have clicked it several times while downloading and I am not sure if I have restarted the process or not - It has been 90 minutes and still says downloading. Do I need to restart?

I can see incremental blue line movement (1 third downloaded) under the X icon in my tray however when I go to the apps store for purchases....The gray box says Download...very confusing - it has been 2 hrs since I rebooted and started over. I am afraid to hit the download tab in purchases - but - 2 hrs for 5 gb? Should I wait it out?

Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

I updated to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 yesterday and now when I press the home button even once, it opens the app switcher (which is supposed to only open after pressing the home button twice quickly). Sometimes pressing the home button once even brings up the assistive button (which for me should take three button presses). This did not happen before I updated my software. Has anyone else had this issue? Know how to stop it? Very annoying and at this point feel like I should have waited before I did the update.

Hello ..do you have a history on the phone? did you get it wet? was it dropped? have you been using an authentic ORIGINAL apple charging cable?
this problem occurs when there is a short circuit in the phone... you most likely got it wet at some point and maybe didnt even realize it? The moisture in the phone hasb probablly oxidized one or several capacitors, integrated chips thereby short circuiting the phone. that is why he phone is acting erratic because these short circuits inadvertently "activates" other circuits.. eventually the phone will not turn on anymore- the heat will stress the citcuit board and you will have discontinuity along your main power lines and the phone will cease to function..i see this alllll the time in our shop
the fact you upgraded to ios6 will even work the phone harder because its a more powerful operating system taking full advantage of the A4 chip..

Seems virtual desktops are overpromoted - and in fact not about virtual desktops (changing content on the desktops). The socalled virtual desktops are right now
no more than app switching on different displays.
Dangerous game again from Microsoft promoting things as something they are not.
Virtual desktops are already a well-defined concept - and people will expect the desktop to be able to change content (be dynamic) ... the data and launching programs for documents, different backgrounds.
... but as others may already have stated in other threads: (Right now) Windows 10 does not contain virtual desktops/displays/screens. Not at all.
A skeptical hypothesis - hopefully it is not so, and we will be able to work with data in a valuable way. The data is on the desktop anyway today - so why not make it real virtual desktops? I simply do not understand the decision.
So here comes the skeptical hypothesis - it's not a Steve thing. It's Microsoft still looking for that next revamped business model to finance their future.
So the freak kind of virtual desktops (virtual desktops in Win10 a lie?) will disappoint - have already begun to do so - and seems Microsoft is just taken up with inserting an additional intermediary step towards relaunching the appstore and hiding

more links than application from appstores and application containers linked to them.

A better name would be Virtual Display Layouts ... Virtual Screens ... Virtual Start Screens (please let us be able to pin files/folders to the Start Screen, a requested voted for feature for Windows 10).
You see, go back and read the topics for Windows 8 ... you will learn the Start Screen is/was the new desktop - and should have been made virtual.
So please get your act together and stop confusing everything ... and make on coherent system. Drop the Start Screen - and go with the virtual desktop
(put the Start Screen technology into the virtual desktop - and let users pin folders and files there as requested ... both local and in the cloud)

How do I move an entire app to a dual monitor? Not just a window? I can drag single windows, but if I move a window to the second monitor and hit a button, like 'New', that opens a new window, then it opens the window in the first monitor. I want it to open in the second monitor instead.

Right. Mail remembers as well. I have the menubar set on my larger display, and the main Mail window on the MBP display. When I create a new message, it displays the composition window on whichever display I used the last time for composition. So after the first time I moved the composition window to the larger display, it always opens on that display. I can't remember if it remembers that behavior after taking the MBP on the road, where I use only its display, and then reconnect the second display back at home.

I seem to have two Apple ID's attached to my e-mail.
An Apple ID is a valid email address, apparently. How can those be "attached to your email"... what email?
Facetime will not verify my e-mail address because it is associated with the other account.
This doesn't make sense. You can register multiple, even non-Apple-ID, email addresses and their aliases with FaceTime.
So, maybe you can explain your problem better - what you want and the steps you've taken and what you have so far. If something doesn't work, please tell the exact error message, too.

I have tried deleting the account and it deletes all my contacts. I have verizon and even using back up assistant, it says the contacts are there but they aren't. The only way i can find a contact is if I start to type a name in and new text but once i sent the new text, the name disappears and it just shows the number. Siri nor the address book don't recognize any contacts at all.

OS X 10.8.4:
Drag the window back to the correct monitor and position it where you want it to open. Make certain that you actively save and close your documents before quitting Pages.
In System Preferences > General, check the box adjacent to Close windows when quitting an application.
Your Shutdown, Restart, and Logout dialogs should have the “Reopen windows when logging back in” unchecked.
If this does not correct the problem, select all contents (command+A) of the following folder only, and then use the right button to select the menu item, “Move to Trash.”
/Users/yourlogin-name/Library/Caches/
Also, drag the following file to the Trash as well:
/Users/yourlogin-name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
Empty the Trash. (You may have to reboot to fully empty the Trash.)
The next time you launch Pages, the application window will open where you want it.
