App Tabs do not open automatically

I set GMail and RTM as "App Tabs" but when I open Firefox again they do not open automatically - it simply opens to my normal home page.

App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]

Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Browsing History" if Firefox is closed.

HT201269 The iPhone "Apps" Tab will not open in iTunes v11.1

I purchased the iPhone 5S yesterday and am running iOS 7.0.1. I restored my 5S from yesterday's backup of my 4S which was running iOS 6.1.2. The 5S restored fine but now when I open iTunes, click on the iPhone tab, I can open all the tabs with the exception of the "Apps " tab. Each time I click the Apps tab I get a popup that says an error occurred and iTunes needs to shut down (no error code to check). Clicking on the Music, Video, tabs, etc. all open with no issues; just the Apps tab does not function.
Is this a bug with iTunes v 11.1, and issue with iOS 7.0.1 or could it an app or two on my 5S affecting the Apps tab.
I have 135 apps installed and really do not want to install them one at a time.

You can't have Newsstand hidden in a folder. If you do, move it to the homescreen then you will be able to access the Apps tab in iTunes 11.1. You can always move it to the folder afterwards.

I have been pinning websites as App Tabs on my mac book pro. However, whenever I exit firefox and reopen it next time, my tabs will be gone (even though I had pinned it and did not close it out). well mine is remembering history but this happens even when im in the middle of something and a tab will open that's blank!! really really drives me nuts!! and the remember isn't the problem it does this after awhile, could it be faster fox browser add-on? or another add-on that's making it do it?

I want my tabs to not open automatically and even though i have set to do that it still opens it automatically, i've tried all solutions that were provided nothing helps.

i have the "when i open a new link in a tab, switch to it immediately" option unchecked. it still opens them when i open a new link. i found someone who was having the same problem but the solution to his problem did not help me. i have restored my prefrences, disabled all addons and plugins. nothing worked

I believe your issue comes from a slight misunderstanding... It's not your fault, of course, Firefox should be clearer in this aspect, but I should be able to clear the misunderstanding and make sure you know what's going on.
The "when i open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately" option only applies to tabs open deliberately in a new a tab. For example, when you middle-click (click your mouse's scroll wheel) a link (or use the appropriate contextual menu entry). It doesn't apply to links that are set by the site to open in a new tab. This is normal standard behavior, and isn't likely to change any time soon, but there are multiple things you can do so it doesn't bother you.
For example, you can middle-click (or use the appropriate contextual menu entry) the links you want to open on a new tab, instead of right-clicking them and have them open in a new tab only if the site has instructed your browser to do so. You can also go into ''Tools > Options > Tabs > Open links that open in a new window in:'' and select "Current tab", so the links that are instructed by the website to open in a new window/tab, are open in the same tab, and so you have complete control of where each link opens. This setting, however, is known to cause some trouble in some websites that are pop-up-heavy, so use this with caution.

Tabs will not open automatically (link appears but I have to manually hit "enter" or reload the tab).

When I recently updated Firefox, my tabs stopped working. When I right-click on a link and select "open new tab," the tab opens with the link in the address bar, but the page is blank. Only when I switch to the new tab, put my cursor on the address bar, highlight the entire address and hit "enter" does the page finally load. This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

I opened Google Chat in a tab and pinned it as an App Tab, but the App Tab does not "glow" when new message arrives in Google Chat.

I am running Firefox 4.0.
I opened this page for Google Talk (http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client), signed in, and initiated a chat with one of my contacts.
Then, I pinned the tab (containing the above chat page) as an App Tab.
According to the documentation for Firefox 4, when the contents of an App Tab's page is changed, the corresponding tab is highlighted.
However, when a new chat message arrives in the Google Talk page (that corresponds to the pinned App Tab), the tab is not highlighted.
App Tab highlighting works for Gmail, and other web pages (i.e., when other web pages are pinned as App Tabs the corresponding tab is highlighted when the contents of the page changes), but App Tab highlighting does not work for the Google Talk page. Is this a bug in Firefox 4?

@cor-el: I think you are correct ... App Tabs do not glow when the content of the page changes (which would result in the tab "glowing" when a new Google Talk message arrived) ... but App Tabs only glow when the tab title changes.
I thought about writing a java script (to be used with greasemonkey) to change the tab title when a new message arrives in the Google Talk page .... but the Google Talk page looks like it's Adobe Flash.
I know that there is a "beep" when a chat message arrives, but I wanted some kind of visual notification (like the glowing App Tab) when a message arrives (because my computer is playing music and I don't hear the "beep" when a message arrives).
Any suggestions for getting a visual notification when new Google Talk chat message arrives?

App tabs will not save. when close then open ff, the app tabs are gone. how do I save them?

Every time i set up some app tabs, they disappear when I close ff. So upon reopen, have to set them up again, just to disappear again when i close ff. I thought once setup, they stay until deleted. Am I wrong on this? If they are supposed to show up after closing, it is not working on my pc. Running windows xp service pack 3.

The add-on "app-tab initializer" 0.2 fixed it for me. You define your preferred app tabs and it opens them each time firefox is launched.

That's a bit vague, but you may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
          Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
          Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

My app tabs fail to open when i reopen the browser. why?

After installing 4.0 yesterday I started experimenting with new features, including the app tabs. I closed some of the app tabs, though not all, and then as an experiment closed & reopened the browser.
Your specs say that:
All of the App Tabs you have set when you close Firefox will open as App Tabs when you start Firefox again.
This did happen for me. Neither the app tabs I had open when I closed the browser nor the ones I had closed were saved. It seems that maybe this feature is not behaving as expected? There appears to be no persistence with the app tabs.

Your System Details List shows the NoSquint extension, so you can check the zoom settings in that extension.

Word file does not open automatically on export

When I click on the Export to Word icon from the toolbar the file exports to C:\Program Files\SAP Business One\Worddocs\<company>\<bp ID>\<filename.doc> but it doesn not open automatically as it does in Excel.
I can open the file once exported but I have to go into that path to do so. Is there something I can do to have it open automatically? MS Word does not even come up when the file is exported. I'm using MS Office 2007 and SAP Business One 8.8 PL 13.

i guess what you need to do is Go to Administration> System Initialization> Print Preferences
Select the Document say Invoice on Per Tab and tick on Export to MS-Word.
Once you add the AR Invoice it will be exported to MS Word automatically.......

Photos is probably better than iPhoto for personal images, BUT:
I need to make the new Photos app not open automatically every time I plug in an iPhone or iPad or camera into the computer.
I take a lot of photos for work and I import those through the Image Capture App which allows me to import photos into a specific set folder - not my photos folder.
Also, related, how do I make iTunes not automatically open when I plug in the iphone/ipad. I keep my music on one computer and not on my work computer, so it is annoying when I plug an iPhone or iPad into the work computer and it automatically opens iTunes.
Finally, what happened to the delete function on the Image Capture app? It was so easy - import a bunch of photos into a certain folder, then delete those photos off the device through Image Capture.
Apple, by forcing us to use your consumer products, you are making it so inconvenient for pros who want more control over our process and file structure!

In iTunes (with the device pugged in) Preferences, disable the 'Open iTunes when device is plugged in' option.

Itunes does not open automatically when I plug in iphone?

ITunes does not open automatically when I put my device via the USB cord into my computer. Even though I checked that box in I tunes

1. open up applications, and right click the itunes icon.
2. select 'show package contents'
3. open the contents folder
4. open the resources folder
5. scroll down until you find the ItunesHelper icon.
6. Now open up your system preferences.
7. select accounts
8. select login items
9. now drag the ItunesHelper icon into the login items screen
10. This will now put the ituneshelper app into the startup items.
