App to control Blackberry from PC?

Is there an app or utility that will allow you to control a blackberry - use it to dial-out, answer email, etc.?  I have a ceo user with bad eyes and large hands that in a perfect world can operate his bberry via a netbook or tabelt pc.

Hi, I'm having the same issues with my eyes, so I've been hunting for an answer to this.  So far I've found an app that can help but it's $39.99 and I believe that's for only one year.  So if anybody else can suggest a cheaper method or something free please let us know.
As for this app, you can download it and try out the trail version for a few days.  I've attached the links below and a youtube video that demonstrates what it can do, good luck to your ceo, I feel for him, not being able to look at the cell phone screens sucks!
This is a link to download the app to the Blackberry (the Blackberry needs to be connected when you're doing this)

This link is the software you need to download onto your computer

I haven't tried this out, but I think it's possibly the same idea, good luck!

  • App remotely control presentation from iPhone

    Hi,
I'm trying to build a simple app similar to the "Remote" app. Basically, it can connect via WiFi to a Mac and controls the presentation (MS Powerpoint 2008) on it, like going to the next or the previous slide. Also, there would be a "server" running on the Mac that can talk to the iPhone app, which acts as client. Can anyone give me some pointers on how the client and server may be built? Thanks in advance.

Very informational. I'm trying to implement a simple version of iClickr, namely go to the next or previous slide only. Can you give me some further suggestion, or even sample code, on how this implementation can be achieved?

  • Will they ever create software that allows you to totally control Blackberry from PC?

How cool would it be if you could control nearly all of your Blackberry's functions on your PC? It would be so easy to add/edit contacts, bookmarks, and calendar dates.

    Hi there!
Your question ("Will they ever...") is pretty much impossible to answer...
What we can say is that RIM has strategically chosen to NOT re-invent software for the PIM market. So many others have been quite successful at that (MS Outlook, GroupWise, Notes, etc.). What RIM has chosen to do is to provide a conduit to many PIMs that allow you to choose which PIM you want and then replicate that data to your BB. See this KB for further information:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    Hope that helps!

  • Can you wake up your Mac remotely to control it from iPod using VNC app?

I have the VNC app that allows you to connect to your Mac or PC and control it from your iPod. Your iPod screen displays a miniature version of you computer and by using a selection of tools you are able to do everything on you Mac remotely. The problem is that when you go away or are away from your computer you don't want to have to leave it running continuously so the preferred option is to let it sleep and wake it up remotely when you need to access it. I tried calling Skype on my Mac from another computer but either just leaves a message or rings but doesn't bring the Mac out of sleep mode. This little VNC app is amazing and very useful only if I can get my Mac to wake up so I can connect to it. If not, great app but useless... at least for me.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Kev

How about using SSH to remote secure shell into your Mac? That might wake it up.
Touchterm is the touch app to use for ssh.

  • Is there an app to control the volume of an iPhone 3GS?

I have an iPhone 3GS and the volume keeps going all the way down once I plug the headphones in. Before this started happening the volume would go all the way up. Before that even started happening the phone would repeatedly try to shut itself off and I had to keep pressing Cancel.
I did buy the phone off of eBay used, to try and go on a prepaid contract once my current contract ends. On the case itself, there are some minor scuffs and such, it does look like it was opened at a time. It still works perfectly, except for the volume glitch right now. Is there an app that controls the volume to keep it from going all the way down?. People say in forums and such to tighten the screws on the bottom (which I tried), and to also open the phone and see if there is anything blocking the volume control thing (like dust or anything) but I'm afraid to try that with the risk of causing further damage. What should I try?.

to at least try and fix it if none of that works then replace it through apple

  • How can i use labview.tlb to control Labview from an external application?

    Hi,
I've been told by a labview engineer that i could use the file
labview.tlb located in the labview install folder to control labview
from an external application (in my case, a C# app). I'm using Labview
6.1 under Windows 2000. This article confirms that:
    "ActiveX and LabVIEW"
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/5401BE584FBAEECE862567C2006D36C7?opendocument
But i've not been able to find out how to use this file to achieve
what i want. I just want to be able to open/close labview, open/close
    a vi, start/stop a vi, hide/show a vi from a C# application. The above
web page talks about activex but i really don't see the realtion
between activex and that labview.tlb file.
    Is there so
mebody around who knows how to use that file? Why does NI
tell us that it's possible to do what i want to do but doesn't explain
how (or hides this info very well)?
    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks for the link, i actually already found this link before. I've
found yesterday how to use Labview.tlb, just add it to the references
of the project, it was probably too easy for me at that time:-) But
now, i'm still stuck as there is no doc about using the interfaces and
classes of this activex to control labview.
The example given on your link is made is C++ and for some reasons,
the wrapper generated for Labview.tlb when i added it to my c# project
doesn't seem to expose the same
interfaces and classes as the one used
in the C++ example. I therefore can't use the C++ example in C#.
I've tried to do something like:
    LabVIEW.ApplicationClass a = new LabVIEW.ApplicationClass();
Just this line causes labview to launch but then immediately throws an
exception: "Query interface for interface LabVIEW._IApplication
    failed".
Does somebody knows how to use that control in C#/VB.NET ?

  • Does Apple have any plans on making an Iphone app to control Logic Pro like Motu has done for Digital performer? They make it for free which is a HUGE plus!

i was wondering if Apple has any intentions on making an Iphone/Ipad app to remotely control Logic like Motu has for Digital performer. Motu has it available for free which is a huge plus but Id be willing to pay for one if Apple came out with one of its own.Im a little mift as to why it hasnt been done, Im sure they are capable of it.

I've been using Touch.OSC, from Hexler. It is not created by Apple but works like a charm on Logic. I've been using the app for over a year both on my iPad and my iPhone. Check the app on Hexler @ http://hexler.net/software/touchosc. Another app (which I still haven't tried) is lpTouch. You can get more info at http://www.delora.com/delora_products/lptouch/lptouch.html. Both are sold at App Store for $ 4.99. Yeah, it would be cool if Apple included its own iPad/iPhone app to control LogicPro on a future update... but for the stick price of the apps I've mentioned you might have a good 'bang for the buck".

  • HT201272 Remote app to control iTunes no longer works

I use Remote app on all of my devices to control iTunes. I had to restore three iPods and now the Remote app cannot be installed from iTunes or the App Store. The error message says I need iOS 4.3. How do I find this software? iTunes says my iPods are up to date. The Remote App worked fine before with the existing software.

After digging around more, I was able to do what I was looking to do.  I installed iTunes on the machine downstairs, activated hom sharing.  Then used the Remote app on my phone, connected to iTunes downstairs, then went to "more" within the app... Then selected "shared", connected to the library upstaris... and Boom, its worked!

  • Developing mobile apps for the blackberry platform

    Hello all
I'm interested in developing mobile apps for the Blackberry smartphone and read that the best way to do it is with Java. Any advice on how to do this?
I would be starting from scratch as I don't have a programming background but am keen to learn. Also can anyone recommend any introductory books that are really good at learning Java?
    Many Thanks
    praetor

    Hi praetor,
    welcome to the SDN.
Programming for a mobile device is sort of advanced and you need to know the basics first. As you have no programming background this is even more important.
Do yourself a favor and forget about the blackberry for a few months and learn programming basics first.
Here are a few links to get you started with the Java SE (Standard Edition, for your local PC, nothing fancy):

  • Accesing controls (references) from several VI's

Ok I have this small problem:
    I have a large program
and have put serveral "advanced settings" in a different VI.
    Result
is that the values entered here need to be passed to controls in
    different other VI's
The way I use this now is using 1 element
    queues to pass the control
    value.
For one VI I can create control
references, call a sub vi and put here the control that can manipulate
    the value.
How do I achieve this for multiple VI's? Is
there a way to make control values from ANY running VI available? Maybe
using xcontrols? I have no idea how to achieve this though.
    thanks!

I will typically use a GUI controller in my apps to accomplish that type of thing.
    GUI Controller
I develop an Action Engine  that will cache a cluster of control references when an Init method is invoked. This put all references in a SR that can be accessed from any place the Ae is used.
I add methods to the AE to take care of screen settings associated with changes of state ("Set Visability Edit Mode", "Set Visablilty Login", etc).
I also add a method to return the cluster of refs so I can use them to set-up dynamic event registration in sub-VI etc.
A side benfit of using a GUI Controller is that you have a single point where you can add a "stack" of screen views so functions like "Back" and "Forward" can be added easily.
    So...
    trying using a GUI Controller.
    Ben
This an excellent method for achieving what you want. A variation of it would be to use LVOOP instead of the AE. The two approachs are essentially the same but with some thought on the definition of the classes I imagine you can create a general purpose base class to handle most of the common aspects. Customizations can be achieved using derived classes.
Further adding to Jeff's comments about the up front hit in the schedule. When done right you will see the benefits of shorter schedules for future projects. The first time is the hardest sell to management. However once you get a couple of successes under your belt future requests will be much easier since you now have a track record of benefits achieved by using reusable code libraries.

Did you check Settings>Control Center>Access on Lock Screen and make sure it's set to ON?
