App to Edit Microsoft word, excel

Hi their,
I want a great app to edit Microsoft word & excel files. If possible it should also be able to retrieve files from my email attachments that i receive or send. I really need an app as I already have the iPhone with other brilliant apps, but still lack this feature. I am also doing this for my father who is looking for ward to buy the iPhone instead of other business devices.
Please do answer me..............

QuickOffice's MobileFiles Pro was released last week, which currently allows editing of excel spreadsheets, word doc editing is coming in a future update (I don't know when exactly). It also allows viewing of all the usual office, iwork, PDF, image files etc. as well as playback of audio/video files. You can access your MobileMe iDisk with the app, and download files to the iPhone's local storage, as well as uploading xls files you have created/edited locally with the app. If you don't use MobileMe, the app has the ability of transferring files over your wifi network.
I've got it and highly recommend it. What it does, it does very well, however there are features I'd like to see added, like cut/copy/paste of cells, ability to email files as attachments, fast-scrolling/bookmarking in large PDFs/docs, word doc & ppt file editing/creation.
QuickOffice have been in the game for a long time with native apps on Palm, Windows Mobile, Symbian & BlackBerry, so I'd expect the app to get better and better over time.
Here's the link to the app:

  • App for editing microsoft word documents

I am a PhD student in the area of engineering sciences and I frequently need to write journal articles which are mathematically involved. I am just wondering if there are any word editing apps on iPad which can recognize mathtype equations? I purchased documents to go and it is not very useful to me.. And also, I would like to be able to see .emf type pictures embedded within my word document.. I would also like to accept/reject changes made by others on my documents.. all these, documents to go is not able to do, and this is a real frustration.. anybody know any remedies or apps that can do just what I need? I need the app to be as close to microsoft word as possible..

I work on word and xl files daily. for documents, Pages is fine. It does not do everything Word does, but remember, this is a portable streamed down machine.
i also use docs 2 go from data viz. Its also fine, but for word applications, i usually end up in pages. It just works better for me. docs 2 go is good for me for transferring a set of documents without needing to sync or use i tunes.
For spreadsheets, you can view and do light edits in Numbers, and the dataviz is also functional, but i want to tell you that heavy duty spreadsheet work on an i pad is just not a real fun experience. It will work, but you will be a lot happeir in that world with a larger screen, a mosue, and a real keyboard. The mechanics of moving around a sheet and making cell corrections, especially to formulas, is just a little clunky.
lastly, if you are going to try heavy duty stuff, an external keyboard is a nice thing to have along. the existence of the arrow keys, to me, really help in navigation.

  • Can I get an app that allows Microsoft word

Is there App that allows me to use Microsoft word/excel, so I can save documents and attach, like a resume?

Yes, there are a number of apps that can create/edit documens in MS Office format. Some free, others not. To name a few:  Smart Office, OliveOfficeHD, QuickOffice, etc. All on the App Store.
And if you have a corporate MS account, you may be eligible to use their Office365 product. This is an online version of the Office Suite and can be accessed thru the OWA app, also in the App Store.

  • TS3938 Hi, I have a sign being advised Power PC Applications no longer supported when I try to go into Microsoft Word, Excel, Entourage & MSN Messenger, hoe do I resolve this? Any help appreciated.

Hi, I have a sign being advised Power PC Applications no longer supported when I try to go into Microsoft Word, Excel, Entourage & MSN Messenger, hoe do I resolve this? Any help appreciated Sorry, this is for a Mac Air

Most versions of Office 2008 use an Universal installer. A few have one which is PowerPC-only.
In any case, Mac OS X Server 10.6 can be run in emulation, and Rosetta applications can be run in it. Saying that PowerPC-only applications won't run in Mac OS X 10.7 is correct. Saying that they won't run on a Mac which shipped with Mac OS X 10.7 is not.

  • Will iWork open Microsoft Word & Excel documents ?

Do I need to install Microsoft Word & Excel or Apple iWork to open documents that are emailed in Word & Excel ? I am going to run Windows XP Pro on this machine.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
Apples iWork or better said Pages can open Word documents and Numbers can open Excel documents.
But iWork is only avaiable for Mac OSX, not for Windows.
When running Windows you either need the MS Office package (or MS Word and MS Excel as standalone programs) or you can use the free OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/
OpenOffice is also avaiable for Mac OSX.
    Regards
    Stefan

Buy version 2011 of MS Office.
Or you can download OpenOffice, LibreOffice or NeoOffice, which all come very close to working with MS files just like MS Office does.
Or iWord, I have heard, you can purchase.

  • Deleted Microsoft Word, Excel, PP

I had all 3 in my application folder and there were icons on my desktop. I was told to drag the icons from my desktop into the trash and that it would be okay if they were in the applications folder.
I am a fanatic about having the trash emptied. So I emptied the trash and now it won't open.
I can't use the install disks since they are "borrowed" if you know what I mean from a friend.

I went into Console messages and found this. What it means I don't know...

  • Microsoft Word & Excel Version X

    Hi,
I have version X of Microsoft Word & Excel, if it is already installed on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) will it still work if I upgrade to Lion?
I have heard it will, but wanted to get other opinions/experiences, because before I upgrade I need to make sure as alot of the time I need word etc.
    Many thanks
    cpg88

What version of Office? Office 2004 and earlier won't run on Lion.
    Matt

  • I currently use Snow Leopard and Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage o my Mac.  If I upgrade to Mavericks, can I still use those applications?

I currently use Snow Leopard with Microsoft Word, Excel and Entourage on my iMac.  If I upgrade to Mavericks, can I still use those applications?

If the Microsoft Office is 2004 then no.
    Mavericks System requirements.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5842
Note I would recommend a minimum of 4GB RAM.
You need to check all you software and hardware including any peripherlas you use, printers etc that they are compatible with Mavericks.
Any software that is PPC and uses Rossetta will not work with any OS X verson later than 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.
If you decide to upgrade have a tested backup of your current system in case of problems and you could return the computer to its previous configuration.

  • App for editing/reading/writing Excel, Word, Windows notepad text documents

I was wondering if any of you's could recommend some apps (from experience) that would allow me to, edit/read/write Excel, Word, Windows notepad text documents.
I could make do with an app that would do the above but without the ability to create, edit Windows notepad text documents. But been able to read, write, edit Word and Excel documents would have to be a must.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone for the help it was much appreciated.
After debating, I decided on Docs To Go at £9.99. For this amount its a universal app and as such I can have it installed on my iPhone as well as my iPad (which is what I have done), so £5 for to have it on each device is good value I feel. Quick Office on the other hand would have cost £8.99 for the iPad version and £5.99 for the iPhone version a total of almost £15, which is quite a bit more than I paid for Docs To Go.
Upto now, I find Docs To Go does everything I want from it, with regards to editing, reading, writing my Excel files. I tried transferring a Microsoft Windows Notepad text document over to the iPad/iPhone, I was able to read this and also add additional text/words to it and save it too. I do use text documents sometimes because if I want to add them onto a friend's computer for example, I know that they will be able to read them because with them having a Windows PC and also my friend does not have the Microsoft Office program on their PC.
The transferring of files from the computer to the iPhone/iPad is done via a free download of the Docs To Go desktop software program (which is both PC and Mac) compatible). You first need to go into the Docs To Go app and select 'ADD DESKTOP'. This then allows you to add a device to the Docs To Go desktop program thus enabling transfer. You are shown a pin number on the screen which you enter into the Docs To Go app, this procedure only needs to be done once.
The Docs To Go desktop program creates a folder during installation, where all the files etc are stored that are transferred/going to be transferred over are kept.
Some people might think needing to use a program to transfer files over is a bit of a nuisance, when other similar programs allow transfer via a web browser. Personally I find that those programs, the transfer is a bit cumbersome and can be a bit slow. I find the transfer via the Docs To Go desktop program is a lot easier and faster than using the web browser. The only downside I can see with needing to use the Docs To Go desktop program is that.. If I am at a friend's house and want to transfer something on to my iPhone/iPad. My friend would need to install the program, but saying that, its a very small program and its not a big deal having to install it. If they didn't want to install it, then there is either emailing the file or transferring the file to my Dropbox account. I forgot to mention that Docs To Go supports cloud/online storage such as Dropbox, GoogleDocs as well as others.
Once the above is done, you switch the wifi on, load the Docs To Go app, load the Docs To Go desktop program. You then just drag and drop the folders etc that you are wanting transferred over into the The Docs To Go desktop program, then you click on the circular arrow button and they are then transferred over onto the iPhone/iPad.
Once on the iPhone/iPad, you can view them, add additional information, when you make any changes you can press the circular arrow symbol (bottom left of the Docs To Go app) on the Docs To Go app and the changes are then synced back to the same file that is stored on the computer, so its very easy to keep everything in sync and up to date.
It is possible whilst using a Microsoft Word document to have a word count, you just touch the symbol at the bottom right of the Docs To Go app and choose Word Count from the drop down menu. I have heard a few people in some reviews saying that 'Docs To Go doesn't have a word count', when indeed it does.
One surprise is that Docs To Go, does not have a spell checker, but hopefully during later updates, the feature might be added. I sent my feedback to Docs To Go requesting this feature on future releases. I expect that there will be many other people who have requested this feature too.
I just thought I would share my experience with using Docs To Go.
Thanks again everyone for the help, it was much appreciated

  • Need a suitable app for Microsoft word, excel

Need a suitable app for Microsoft word. Can you guys please help me out with a good app to use for access word, power point and excel? Greatly appreciate it.

There is no such animal as Office Pro 2010 for a Mac. There is either Office 2008 or 2011. Both only run on a Mac computer, not on an iPad.
What I know is that what I referred to you works on an iPad. They can read and edit Office files. Whether you will find they meet your standards I cannot say.

  • Just Updated to 10.9.5 Now iPhoto 8.1.2 Won't Open-Microsoft Word & Excel Won't Open

I have a MacBook Pro now running 10.9.5
I updated last night to the 10.9.5 version and after doing so my iLife applications stop working: iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand
My Microsoft Word and Excel stop working as well.
Every time i try to open these applications i get error and they just won't open.
" iPhoto quit unexpectedly wile using the iPhoto plug-in"
I get this same message for all my applications.
I tried getting help from Apple and all they really told me was that I may need to update to my iPhoto by paying $15 bucks.
I'm upset that my applications have all failed me only after updating to new 10.9.5
This update was done at 10:30PM, all day my Microsoft Apps and iPhoto app were working fine and now I'm out of luck?

iLife 11 is only available thru 3rd party retailers like Amazon.com or eBay.com.  That will install iPhoto 9.0 and you can get to 9.4.3 vis these updaters:
1 - update to iPhoto 9.2.1 - you may be able to go from here directly to 9.4.3
    2 - update to iPhoto 9.3
    3 - update to iPhoto 9.3.2
    4 - update to iPhoto 9.4
    5 - and finally to iPhoto 9.4.3

  • MICROSOFT WORD EXCEL

I have never used a PC and I am currently looking for a job. All of the help wanted ads want you to have Microsoft word and Excel background. Would I be able to run these programs on my Mac so that I could become familiar with them? If so, where could I find them on a tight budget? All help is so appreciated. Thanks.

I would try to run these programs at your local library or university.
Once you've learned how of to use a wordprocessor or spreadsheet program, the concepts are all the same and is not too hard to move to a new one. I would learn how to use these types of programs then go to a library and try out the Microsoft version. There are also books in the library that tell you how to use these programs.
The popular productivity application OpenOffice.org is available for Mac OSX.
    http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/download/aqua-PPC.html
NeoOffice is a full-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, and database programs) for Mac OS X. Based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, NeoOffice has integrated dozens of native Mac features and can import, edit, and exchange files with other popular office programs such as Microsoft Office.

  • I thought apple is user friendly. That is why I bought it. I do not have a use to download my boot camp assistant for a compatible to microsoft words, excel, powerpoint. They told me I have iWork's for all of this products but mine is not working.

    To whom it may concern.
I bought an apple product which is MacBook Air about 7 mths. ago . Anyway I would like to download a compatible words, excel, powerpoint. they told me that I do not need it since IWORKS is all I needed. I tried my keynote , numbers does not worked. Somebody emailed me sending me this mumbo jumbo for it to work. Well, if I was a computer wiz, I probably will not be asking for help.
I followed the tutorials for windows for mac, followed every instructions, hold and behold another problem. I have to have a usb, when I bought this at Best Buy, I asked them what do I need , they said that I do not need anything else because it is all in there. So to make a long story short. I am just so frustrated .
How can I download the windows for mac, I know I have to start in utilities , boot camp assistant, then the usb problem. Please I need help, it is much needed for my job. Ipages does not saved anything, I mean nothing it just disappeared , and you do not have any idea how much I have the long hrs. I have put in.
Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate this .

You can buy Microsoft Office for Mac, it includes Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Or you can download a free copy of LibreOffice which contains substitutes (good ones) for the Microsoft Office programs.
Do not even think of using Boot Camp unless you have a complete and current TM backup or a clone to restore if it goes wrong. You will also need to buy Windows and Microsoft Office for it. And you MUST read the directions very carefully.
