App to import audio from vinyl or cassette to Mac

I would like to import audio from my vinyl and cassette collection to my iMac.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced App which will do this successfully?
Any help would be appreciated.

Just tried this again.  I may be missing something with the options in the dialog box which states the following defaults:
Format: ZIP
Method: Normal
Exclude Mac Resource forks (selected) - don't understand what that means?
Delete files after compression - not selected.
At the foot of the dialog box it states "Drag files to RarGenie in the dock"!  Not sure what that means either.
Please don't spend any more time on this if you don't have an easy answer.  I was really hoping to hear from someone who had used an available App in the App Store which they had found easy to use and not too expensive and which could be used with an appropriate hardware device.

  • Import audios from VCD, DVD, RealMedia, casette tape, vinyl record, etc.?

    Hello,
Is there a way to record/rip these other sources beside CDs to an iPod Nano? This is for someone who is using one and a Windows XP Media Center SP1 (all updates). He is not a computer expert so he won't know how to convert, pick bitrates, etc. Are there any software products that can rip/record, convert, etc. with ease like Apple products?
    Thank you in advance.

To answer part of your question, one way to record
vinyl is to connect your player (through the Tape out
sockets of your amplifier) to the audio in socket of
your computer. On the computer you'll need audio
editing software to capture and edit the resulting
long file into individual tracks that can be added to
the iTunes Library. There are a number of commercial
programs for this (I use Sound
Studio for the Mac but there are Windows
programs). If want to try out the process first you
could try the open source program Audacity which has
Linux, Mac and Windows versions at this link: Audacity
In addition to the software you'll need RCA to 3.5 mm
audio plug cables to connect the Tape Out sockets of
your amplifier to the audio inputs of your computer.
There's a short guide to recording here: How
to record from vinyl and cassette to a computer
    also from the BBC Copying
    Vinyl Recordings to CD
Thanks. This sounds more complex than I thought it would be. Is there a specific file format that the recordings have to be in? I recall in the past that I had to record as WAV format before even converting to MP3, but that was years ago.

  • Importing audio from CD-where does it go?

I tried importing audio from a cd tonight for the first time, from within the audio window. Where does the file go? After I quit the song and tried to open again, the file could not be found. I tried importing again. When I put the CD in iTunes opened up and somehow renamed the CD "John Ford Radio"!? Anyway, I figured out that once the file was in the audio window I used the "move" function to copy the file to the song folder.
Is there an easier way to do this?

If you import audio from a CD, it stays on the CD. You probably saw a message something like "Insufficient privileges" which means that the OS recognised that it couldn't write the calculated wave overview back to the CD.
The best method is to copy it to your hard disk and check the Ownerships and Permissions within the Finder info. You need to have Read/Write on any audio file.
Finally, when saving your work, always use Save as Project since that will create a single folder with all your files nicely tucked away.

  • Adobe Presenter 9 and PowerPoint 2013 - Missing Import Audio from PowerPoint button

I am only able to intermitantly use the Import button in Adobe Presenter 9 to Import Audio from PowerPoint. Why would I be able to do it on some presentations but not all? I thought it was an audio conversion issue but even when I convert the audio (when prompted by PowerPoint) it doesn't always allow me to import it.

I have found a solution if the original PowerPoint was a ppt file, follow these steps:
File > Save As a pptx file
Close PowerPoint (this helps with not corrupting the file)
    Re-open the pptx file
    File > Convert
Save with a new file name (this helps with not corrupting the file)
You should now have the Import from Presentation button if you go to the Presenter tab and click the Import button
I have not found a solution for pptx files yet.

  • Trying to Import Audio from CD without Adminstrator rights

    Hello,
I currently have 20+ computers running Audition and need to change my network to Active Directory signon. When I change a machine to AD and login as a USER I cannot import audio from a CD.  I get a pop up screen saying  You must be signed on as an administrator to import audio from as CD (and so on).  I know this is a windows error because none of my CD ripping programs work EXCEPT Windows Media Player.  I was wondering if ANYONE knows where I can change things so I can have users import from cd's?  I know you can "run as" but now you are giving away the admin passwords and I know I can make a user with admin rights and have them sign in under that, but you are still giving anyone who thinks about it rights to sign in as that user with admin rights.
Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Apparently it's a deliberate policy decision on the part of Microsoft, and possibly one forced onto them by the RIAA. If you can get hold of a suitable policy editor for XP, then you can alter it. The instructions for fixing it with gpedit apparently go like this (although I've never tried it, I must admit)
Run gpedit.msc (via Start menu, Run..)
Select the following: Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options
Enable the option 'Devices: Restrict CD-Rom access to locally logged-on user only.'
That's all I know. If all else fails, download something like Windows XP Security Console, and try doing it with that.

  • Import audio from movie problem

Every time I import audio from a movie in Logic X, there is a glitch at the beginning of the audio. I just switched from 9 and never had this problem before. Anyone else experiencing this? I think it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Its quite possible this problem is being caused by one of several audio file related issues in the current OS X 10.9.2  that apparently are fixed in 10.9.3
You can find out for yourself by installing the Public beta seed of 10.9.3 found here....

  • Importing music from vinyls

How do I import music from vinyls using my turntable connected to the imac?
Can I use Itunes or do I need a different software?

Itunes will not do this you need another program to convert the analog file to a digital file (I don't have a mac but think that garageband or whatever it is called can do this). Also you need to connect the turntable to teh imac through an amplifier you can't do it directly from the turntable - the sound needs to be amplified

  • Captivate 6 randomly dropping imported audio from slides during publish.

I think I remember this occurring in 5.5 as well, but only very occasionally. In this (my first) cp6 project, it's occurred 3 times already.
What occurs is that upon viewing the output (.exe), one slide will just not play the audio imported to it, although the slides before that one and the slides after it play their imported files.
I have re-published the project 6 times, and in two of those new publishes, it has dropped audio in a different slide, and played the audio on the slide where it previously did not play audio.
The imported files play just fine in all slides during preview in every case, so it seems to be occuring at publish. These are straight  Audio > Import to > Slide wav files.
    Anyone else see this?
At this point I just have to keep re-publishing until I get one that plays all files and call it a day.

    Hi, Varun.
I finally got around to updating to 6.0.1.240 this morning.
The audio issue seems to still be there....it still drops imported audio from certain sildes, randomly.  It changes with every publish.
THEORY: I noticed that on one of the slides where audio didn't play, the audio file contained a small silent region before the narration began. Maybe .3 or .5 seconds. I removed that silent portion so that the narration starts almost immediately (i.e. less than .2 second seconds of silence.) and for that slide, the audio did play at publish.  So perhaps something in the playback exe is ignoring any audio that starts "too late" into the slide.... ?
I am now going back to check the audio files in every slide to remove any preceding silent passaages, and see if that cures this. Will update with my findings.
Another issue I noticed  is that my background loop randomly stops playing. (This may have been  in the previous build, too, not sure.) Not sure if this is in any way related.
If I pause and un-pause, the background music returns (starts at beginning of loop), and then stops again.. I verfied that "Loop Audio" is turned on.
    Thanks.

  • How do I import audio from a website to Garage Band?

Brand new to Garage Band (on the Mac, not iPad).  I am trying to import audio from a website with an .mp3 extension to Garage Band.  I'd like to extract just a piece of the audio, so I assume GB was the best way to do it.
How do I import the audio to GB?  If GB is not the best way to do it, any other suggestions?  I need the piece of audio for a presentation I'm giving.
    Thanks.

Do you have the audio as an mp3 file already? Then just drag it into GB's timeline. If you have to capture it first, there's several browser plugins that do it or general programs like Audio Hijack or WireTap.

  • HT4061 My iphone screen if frozen and grey after I tried to import photos from my phone to my mac in iPhoto.

My iphone screen has been frozen for about 30 minutes on a grey sceen with a thin white line throught it. I tried to import photos from my phone to my mac. It was working for a while, then it quit and my computer said thre was a error. I looked at my phone and it was frozen. I can't turn it off and my screen does not dim, its just stuck on the grey. I also can'tfind the serial number either. I have imported photos in the past and it has worked. I just don't know what to do or how to fix it .

    Hi ginger1616,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is unresponsive, try resetting it using this method:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article with these steps here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

  • Importing Audio from a DVD Concert

I want to import the audio from a DVD concet into iTunes.
I've tried MactheRipper and MAC3dec to do the conversion but the main concert file was 1 hour and 15 minutes long and it only imported the intro which lasted about 45 seconds.
What I'd really like to do is import the entire concert then cut it up into songs to import into iTunes.
    So my questions are:
    1. How do start with a 1.3 hour audio file on DVD and end up with 16 song files in my iTunes library?
    2. Is it possible to do this with AudioHijack or a similar program?

The software is capable of extracting audio only at the chapter level. Using a DVD I mastered myself, I can use the Mode button, then select Title - Chapter Extraction, click the D button, and then the Streams button becomes active. Clicking that opens a drawer where all the various audio tracks are available, and they can be extracted one at a time using the SChpt and EChpt drop-down lists.
Again, please be sure that whatever you're doing with a DVD is legal in your own case. I am not suggesting that you use any particular software for any particular purpose, but just explaining how to navigate through a confusing interface in a program you already seem to have.
EDIT: I've read through your posts again, and you mentioned that you bought the DVD. Of course I can't be sure about this, but if it's a commercial DVD, it is most likely encrypted. In that case, you really must be sure that you have the right to extract audio tracks from the disc (or even to use the software in question)--even though you're not "copying" the disc by working only with the audio portion, it may be the case that even the audio on the disc is protected in some way by copyright. So, I can't emphasize enough that I in no way am encouraging you to do anything outside the scope of fair and legitimate use of your DVD product.
