App to project to an iPad from a computer (other than Splashtop Classroom)

My school's ESE department needs a good way to control what the iPads are doing while students are using them. Splashtop Classroom seemed like it might be the answer but it conflicts with my districts security policies. They would have to completely overhaul our wireless configuration and they don't want to do that.
If anyone knows of a decent app that might allow us to control or project to an iPad from the PC, I would appreciate suggestions. Thank you!
iPad Minis, iPad Mini 2s. All are some version of iOS 8.

Yes, but all your data will be replaced by whatever is on this other computer. So if you don't want that to happen wait and install on the computer with which the device is normally synced.

  • Is it possible to install an iOS upgrade from a computer other than your sync computer?

    Hello,
Is it possible to install an iOS upgrade from a computer other than your sync computer? I usually sync to my tower at home, but only have access to my laptop now. My laptop is authorized to the same iTunes account as the tower. If I do a software update for the iPhone on the laptop's copy of iTunes, will it wipe away my music that isn't from the iTunes store, etc?
    Thanks,
    Will

  • Can I install ios5 from a computer other than my primary computer?

I have downloaded the Lion update in the office and would like to install ios5 on my iphone and ipad before going home, which is where my "primary" computer is, i.e., the one I use to sync.  Can I install ios5 from any computer or does it have to be the one I have always used for syncing?

You can but if your office computer does not have your backups and iTunes Library from your home computer then the device contents will be wiped. I'd wait until you got home.

  • Can I stream music from my computer other than through iTunes?

2nd question on my new Airport Express: can I only send music from my computer to the hifi using AX through iTunes - or is there some other way I can stream music from the internet whilst it's playing on my computer?
If I can't do that, all I could do would be to record it (using Audio Hijack or iRecordMusic) and then play it via iTunes, but that meant I couldn't listen to it directly.

  • Putting music on iPod Touch from a computer other than the main one

Is it possible to put music from my mac on to my friend's iPod touch without ruining her contacts and/or deleting the music she already has on there. Also, she uses a PC to sync her iPod normally. Should this be a problem?
Also, can I not put on my photos, contacts and iCal events?

You can view and listen to your music library from another computer with Home Sharing turned on.  To turn on Home Sharing in iTunes, go to File > Home Sharing > Turn on Home Sharing for both computers.  This is for iTunes 11.  If you are running an older iTunes, go to Advanced > Turn on Home Sharing.

  • Updating iPhone software from a computer other than the one it is synched

I am going to be traveling without the PC my iPhone is synched with. If a software release comes out, can I update it from another computer somewhere else and not lose my data?

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend it.
You can install a firmware update without syncing - unless the update is a major one that requires the iPhone being deleted first before the update is installed - as with 2.0 over 1.1.x.
And if something goes wrong with the install, you may be left with an updated iPhone but without any data.
I would wait until returning home to use the computer that you sync your iPhone with since there is always the possibility that something goes wrong with the installation. This has never happened to me with any firmware update, but I still wouldn't use another computer.

  • Can I update my dads ipad from my computer without syncing?

My dad is in town and I want to help him update his ipad to ios5.Can I update my dads ipad from my computer without syncing my stuff onto his ipad??

You could but it's probably not advisable, because as part of the update process all content is removed from the iPad, the update is then applied, and the content is then re-synced to the iPad - so is all your father's content (media, apps, synced photos etc) on your computer so that they can be re-synced back to it ? It is usually best to only sync and do updates via your own computer.

  • Charging my ipad from my computer

Does anyone know a driver for charging the ipad from my computer?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • How do i download a dvd i have purchased from  a source other than itunes to my ipad?

How do I download a dvd i have purchased from a source other than itunes to my ipad?

Commercial DVDs are generally encrypted. In the U.S., it's illegal to break that encryption. Because of that, the Terms of Use of this forum prohibits discussion of software or methods.
If the DVD is not encrypted, Handbrake is probably the most commonly recommended software.

  • HT1386 Will apps and/or music be erased from iPod if synced to a computer other than orginally used?

Will apps and or/music be erased from iPod if synced to a computer other than original one used?

    Yes. To avoid that:
    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a thrid-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
The computer will now be your syncing computer in the future. Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

  • Putting cd on ipad from a computer i don't own

I was given several CDs for Christmas that I would like to be able to listen to on my iPad. However, I do not have access to my personal computer. Is there a way to rip the CD to iTunes on another computer and then sync it to my iPad? I know it is easy to get the CD on the iPad from the computer that has my iTunes library, but I'd like to to be able to have access to them on the iPad now, even though I can't get at my regular computer.
    Thanks.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.
