App-V 4.6 User Centric deployment Troubleshooting

Hi,
I will help our support to troubleshoot App-V 4.6 Applications deploument to users.
The scenario it that students logon in to multiple computers. And It is not so simple to get the Picture, the streamed App-V 4.6 Application "x" failed for user "y" on computer "z". Yes there is reports but
you get so much applicarion data and Collection to sort.
I have also looked at Tools that you can connect to the client to see what happend, like SCCM Client Center, SCCM 2012 Toolkit R2.
I also planing to design an report that target the supports need.
I would like to get some input so the support desk could work more efficient?

I assume if you run the .msi file with /x for the application in question it doesn't uninstall?
Does the application appear in the App-V Client on your machine still? Is it showing as In Use?
If you can Unload, Clear and Delete the Application out of the cache and then delete the application GUID folder from the uservol. You should be all set.

Hi,
The user you are running with Visual Studio should have read permission on the pages of SharePoint web you are trying to deploying your app.
I suggest you add the login user to the SharePoint web in the “Site Settings”->”People and Group”.

App-V 5.0 SP2 (Office Deployment Toolkit) - Unable to create Project and Visio with different package ID

We would like to create 2 App-V packages with the
Office Deployment Tool
- Visio Std 2013
- Project Std 2013.
The App-V packages are created successfully, the problem is that the package-id of both packages is the same.
When we deploy for example, Visio to a client and afterwards Project, Visio gets replaced in App-V by Project.
Is anyone else facing this issue ?

So I wanted to bring everybody up to speed on some changes. You can manage multiple Office packages by generating different PACKAGEGUID attributes (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396)
using the Office Deployment Toolkit BUT - the following still applies:
Only one Office package can be deployed to a machine at a time.
Only VL and Subscription Pro options are available for packaging via App-V.

Steve is there any chance this stance may change, or is there any feedback we can give (we have already followed up with our TAM and have also put in tickets but effectively have not gone anywhere other then to explain what the model of support is)?
To be perfectly honest its a very hard model to support since users are licenses for Visio and Project separately, not to mention the lack of user publishing (targeting) and Office Standard support.
We have put in advisory and problem tickets with MS for months in hopes of using the ODT packages in our non persistent VDI environment but I don't believe it will possible.
In short if we have to separate our images or pools to support the various possibilities we are losing what App-V gains us: on demand (per user) publishing to limit the number of gold images we need.
The loss of Office Standard support also leaves us in a tricky spot, because at the end of the day we have to find a way to support those users.
Not looking to put you on the spot, just hoping there is a way to give effective feedback or discuss how to use the ODT packages in a way that makes life easier, not more restrictive.

I would not recommend this and keep the package cache and the client on the same non-persistent drive and enable the Shared Content Store. If you separate the cache and the App-V client they could get out of sync and strange behaviour can occur.
You can use a temporary local profile with Citrix UPM or UE-V and specify what to roam/save.
You can use the Shared Content Store so packages will stream over the network. When the user logs on there is a publishing phase where shortcuts etc are created for the user, this will take some time.
Are you using the App-V full infrastructure?
Are you using a boot disk, partition or PXE in combination with PVS?

User level deployment.properties, setting args

hi guys
i am updating the user's deployment.properties as i need to customise runtime behaviour for my applet. this is an internal work thing so dont worry about security etc..
i am running applet jre1.5.0_06 and have the line below in my deployment.properties :
deployment.javapi.jre.1.5.0_06.args=-Xmx128m
but my colleage's file is totally different :
javaplugin.jre.params=-Xmx128m
would the second one be more universal across jre versions? or would it even work on some jres?

I did something very similar. I am using jre 1.5.0_01.
And it seems to work!
The deployment.config is:
deployment.system.config=file:/c:/jws/deployment.properties
deployment.system.config.mandatory=true
and the deployment.properties is (at the location above):
deployment.system.cachedir=cache
To load the cache I start javaws as follows:
javaws -import -system -codebase file:/c:/cd file:/c:/cd/notepad.jnlp
This results in creating the cache in
file:/c:/jws//cache
To start the app I did:
javaws -system http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/notepad.jnlp
The -system seems to be neccessary but I am not quite sure. If it is omitted
the app also starts, but javaws stores just the jnlp in the default user cache!

i have created an application which creates a new web application every time it is run. now i am writing the documentation of it and dont know which web server the client may have so i have to write / show to the user general steps that he should follow to deploy the web application after it has been created.
i have written that the user should deploy the web app by making the following entry into the server.xml file (for tomcat)
<Context path="/webappname" docBase="webapppath"></Context>
it is not compulsary that the user should place the web application in the webapps directory of the server hence the above webapppath is used.
now i want to indicate to him where and before / after which tag and under which host name etc the above line should be added in a manner that he is able to do it properly.
please anyone can help me how to do it.

it has to be set manually.
i.e every user should make this entry in the server.xml so that the context is set.

You need to do a long-press in any data entry field, then select Paste.

I'm sorry about your loss.
Are you trying to recover data from this iPad, or to set it up as new (erase everything on it, and simply use the iPad as if it were brand new as your new iPad)?
If the latter, you can place the iPad into recovery mode as shown here. You may have to try this several times:

YOu can't update your apps with the new apple id. All apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchased it, you will need to enter your password from you old id to update.

IBooks app thinks my two user created textbooks are the same!

iBooks app thinks my two user created textbooks are the same file. Whichever I load first works just fine, but when I try to load the second, nothing happens and then my first book opens up again. I use drop copy to move files onto my class' iPads (20 of them), but I have to uninstall the first book in order to load the second. This only happens with my two textbooks. Other user created books work fine.
My semester has already started and I'm not able to put my content into their hands. Please help!!

Thank God somebody figured it out! This was driving me nuts. But I have to say this is a pretty stupid way to address the problem...I have a client that produces iBooks for corporate clients, customizing the book for each one. Having to start from scratch every time, then copy and paste all the content in to a new instance of the template is really, REALLY stupid. There should be some field you fill in within the U/I that would allow you to specify the name of the book, so that the iBooks app would know if it's a new rev of an existing book, or a new book altogether. Kinda brain dead the way they do it now.
