App-V Re-Cache of Applications?

Hi There
We have a fairly serious issue with existing App-V applications delivered to our clients via SCCM 07 when we migrate to 2012.
Scenario:
App-V apps delivered and cached on clients in the SCCM 2007 cache.
App-V Apps launched from this cache location.
We Migrate to SCCM 2012 backend, and SCCM 2012 client is upgraded and the cache location changes.
App-V apps attempt to launch but they're not in the cache as the cache location has changed!
Is this a known issue? What is the prescriptive guidance from Microsoft to
deal with this?
At the moment we are having to re-cache App-V apps via scripting and redistribution of source, but this is hugely problematic as some applications are large and we have over 100.

The details you're providing are very helpful, Maj_Dad. With airplane mode enabled,
there would be no message because that disables celluar data. I would recommend
tying that mode with WiFi to see if it still happens. It sounds like this issue
has something to do with one of the applications on the device.

Citrix App v Client Cache Issues

Hello,
I am having a few issues with the app v client cache on my 2008 R2 Citrix servers. All the servers have a 40GB dedicated virtual HD for caching. I have nine Citrix servers and a test server that are all built the exact same. I have been using the test server
to test the published apps before publishing them out to citrix.
The issue is that while I was publishing the apps through app v the apps were being published to all the machines. The only machine that i was regularly clearing the cache on during the testing period was my test server. The citrix server had all those
different versions being published to them without clearing the old application.
Now i am seeing that the test server is the only server caching apps properly. The citrix servers will load older broken versions of the apps even after the apps have been cleared and then refreshed and reloaded.
I will include the steps i have tried to solve this issue below. I apologize if my post is not crystal clear, but if you have questions feel free to ask. Any help is appreciated.
1. Clear apps from cache by right clicking on the app in the app v client on the problem server and selecting delete.
2. Set the registry key HKLM/software/wow6432node/microsoft/softgrid/4.6/client/Appfs/state to 0 to clear the cached and rebooted with no change.
3.I have manually removed all the files saved on the cache drive and had them re added by re loading all the apps.
4. I used the global remove command - sftmime.exe /remove obj:app /complete /global

We have similar issues with the App-V Client cache on App-V 4.6SP3 with XenApp 5. The main issue seemed to be applciations getting trapped in the cache and then not clearing out correctly.
My soultion was as to remove the app-v client from the base image (this gets rid of the cache), clear out the app-v folders just in case then reinstall it to start the cache from scratch.
We have a PVS environment with a standard image so it was fairly simple to do and I used a startup script to reinstall the app-v client and load in the apps everytime our provisioned servers are rebooted ensuring a clean app-v cache every reboot.

Hello there, I'm new to the Apple world, and I'm still learning my way around.
Why is when I try to download from the App Store, it says "The application cannot be downloaded."
It doesn't ask me for payment or anything. When I click on download, about 10 seconds later, that message pops up and nothing is downloaded onto my laptop. I can download other stuff onto my laptop for e.g. Microsoft Word and other various programs such as Google Chrome from the internet. However, I just cannot download from App Store. Any suggestions on how I can download apps?

There is nothing wrong with my iTunes, is more of the App store that I am concerned about. And I've tried the "Authorise this computer" yes it does download when using iTunes, but no luck with App Store. And, yes I am logged onto iTunes when doing purchases.
I find this really fustrating because the App store works fine on my ipod but once it comes to my macbook, it does not download. A few seconds later after I click on an app to download, the pop up message notifies me that the purchase cannot be downloaded.

Mail app keeps re-caching all messages when it starts

In past 10 days i have a very big problem which gives me headaches already. The problem is ( i did not change anything!) mail.app keeps re-caching all messages and attachments everytime i start the app. I have over 40.000+ mails so you do the math about how my bandwith eaten by the app. As i said i did not change anything. Anyway after searching dozens of forums and suggestions i did these steps:
- removed MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 files. No fix alsa mail.app won't create new ones since then
- removed whole cache, files, folders and accounts and re add them. No fix
- Clean install of mavericks. No fix
- Tried other apps like airmail, sparrow. Kinda no fix because airmail wont download whole messages only 1 month period even i choose to have all messages. Sparrow keeps giving error of unable to locate folders on the server. Only my windows thunderbird client works like a charm, there is no any issue at all but i hate windows.
- some terminal commands before clean install which i really dont remember due to high number of commands. By the way i am using IMAP settings
I really need a help here. I am talking about huge number of mails which are very important for me.

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..

How do you remove non-App Store apps that are not in Applications from Launchpad?

Hi, this is my first post to the Apple forums...
     So, I use the Steam game app a lot to manage my different games on my computer. Recently, I cleaned out the games I no longer wanted or had lost interest in, and all of their files, INCLUDING the .app files stored in Application Support, were successfully deleted. But, Steam also automatically adds app shortcuts to the Launchpad when you download a game, which is an option I always left checked during the download process- because why not, right?
     The problem is that now, even after completely deleting ALL TRACE of these apps, they remain on my Launchpad. Just keeping them there isn't a solution; as a very neat, organized person, it would annoy me to the end of time to have random apps on my Launchpad that don't do anything. And since these apps aren't from the App store, they don't have an (X) in the upper left hand corner when you hold down on them.
     I don't know tons about Macs, but after a quick scan of things online people have recommended deleting all the files for your Dock under Application Support, because apparently Launchpad is based on your dock. But that doesn't sound right to me. I thought Launchpad was based on Applications? Again, I'm more savvy with Windows but I just got this thing a year ago so I'm doing what I can.
     On a side note, these game applications were stored in a folder titled "Games", which was originally identical within both Applications and Launchpad. Once I began deleting apps from the folder in Applications, however, they got stuck in the folder within Launchpad.
     I also cannot move Game Center out of the folder in Launchpad, and when I do so it says "This app cannot be modified/deleted", even though I originally had Game Center outside of the folder.
Computer specs:
MacBook Pro 15 Inch (mid 2009)
Running OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) [I updated just last night, I had been running 10.9 before and still had this problem]
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB

I found the following in the Macbook Help, and the last bullet worked for me.
"You can uninstall apps you got from the Mac App Store, from other websites, or from discs. You can’t uninstall apps that are part of OS X, such as Safari and Mail.
Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store.If an icon doesn’t have a delete button, it can’t be uninstalled in Launchpad. For more information about Launchpad, see Use Launchpad to view and open apps.
Apps that have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. If an app is inside a folder, it might have an Uninstaller. Open the app’s folder. If you see Uninstall [App] or [App] Uninstaller, double-click it and follow the onscreen instructions.
Apps that don’t have an uninstaller: In the Finder sidebar, click Applications. Drag the app from the Applications folder to the Trash (located at the end of the Dock), then choose Finder > Empty Trash.If you change your mind, before emptying the Trash, select the app in the Trash, then choose File > Put Back.WARNING: When you empty the Trash, the app is permanently removed from your Mac. If you have any files that you created with the app, you may not be able to open them."

.app file not installing in Applications folder

Hi. I have created a package installer using Xcode's PackageMaker. I want to install a .app file into the applications folder, but when i am running installer package, it's showing that the software is installed succesfully. When i checked the applications folder, the application i m installing is not there. Can anybody help me to solve this?

I'm also having this problem with Package Maker (3.0.4, in Mac OS X 10.6) but I think I've discovered the solution.
First, when you test the installer, open the "Installer Log" window (select "Installer Log" from the Window menu, or press command+L). Then, proceed with the installation as normal, and check the Installation Log window once you reach the end of the installer. You should see a message in the logs which is something like:
Dec 16 15:48:57 yourhostname installd[16558]: correct/path/Applications/YourApp.app relocated to incorrect/path/Applications/YourApp.app
In my case the relocated path was actually build/Debug/MyApp.app inside my Xcode project directory.
The cause for this is, I think, a slightly hidden option in Package Maker. Under the Components tab in Package Maker (with your app selected in the left-hand "Contents" pane), select your app from the list of components, and click the "Relocation..." button in the bottom-right of the window.
This should open up a modal dialog with a list of options titled "Finding Component to Upgrade". The default option Package Maker seems to insert is "Combination search for <your app's identifier>". Under the configuration for this option, there is the description "Will succeed if an application is found at the specified path, by LaunchServices or by doing an exhaustive search".
From what I can tell, these options configure the installer to search the system for an existing version of the app to upgrade. If an existing version is found, the installer tries to replace it, in the location the existing app is in, rather than installing the app in the location you may have configured in Package Maker.
The search uses the application identifier string (eg "com.yourcompany.yourapp"), so it may find any version of your app just about anywhere on your system. In my case, I think, the installer is actually finding the copy of my app in my Xcode project's build directory, and trying to upgrade/replace that version.
The solution may be:
a) clean out all your build directories, and remove any other versions of the app you may have on your system, after you've built your installer with Package Maker and before you actually test the installer (you'll need a copy of your app to build the installer). If I do this with my build directories, the app is installed to the expected location.
b) change the "Relocation..." options for your components in Package Maker to not use Combination Search or Exhaustive Search. Instead use one of the other options, such as "Check Specific Path" (only upgrade existing versions if they're in an expected location like /Applications/yourapp.app). Exhaustive Search may be suitable if you include and exclude specific directories.
Read through the different options available and decide what's best for your app. You may like to use different options during development, as upgrading existing versions may be useful functionality for the end user of your app.

I'll appreciate your suggestions as Firefox is not opening. A window warns: "XULRUNNER. Error: App: Name not specified in application.ini"

When trying to open Firefox a small warning window labeled XULRUNNER is appearing, with the text: "Error. App: Name not specified in application.ini", and an "accept" button. When you click in "accept" the warn ing window closes, but then nothing more happens.
I have no idea what is going on. Any ideas?

Pre-load the Cache during Application-Start Up

Our requirement is to pre-load the cache during the application start-up most probably during Authentication/Authorization Service is invoked.
We plan to load the data for other services from database into Coherence cache so that when user access that particular service he ends up hitting the Cache instead of database.
Any pointers/suggestions on how to pre-load the cache during application start-up would be greatly appreciated. We are using Spring, Hibernate, Weblogic Web Services

I were using following approach.
First, we never use CacheFactory.getCache() in application code instead all instances of named cache were injected.
On server side, I have an CacheInitializerBean which were starting cache preloading process (in separate thread). After preloading a special marker entry were put to the cache, indicating what data in the cache are consistent.
When injecting named cache instance, we use a factory. This factory use CacheFactory.getCache() internally, but it check presence of marker object in cache an blocks until marker object will appear.
Well in practice things are little more complicated but this is basic idea.
Preload cache asynchronously and use marker to indicate completion of loading process.

We prefer to say, the tender mercies of the Fetch block.
You'll notice the "wfm info" cluster as an output of the Fetch
VI. This cluster has gain and offset members- use these to scale
your binary data to floating point voltage representation.
As you point out, the numbers won't be exactly what you expect given
the vertical range and the device resolution. There are a few
reasons for this. First, we don't use the absolute full scale of
the ADC for the maximum input voltage. There are a couple of
codes of headroom at the top and bottom. This allows your input
signal to slightly exceed the specified vertical range without clipping
(you'll get a warning from the driver). Second, these gain and
offset numbers take into account calibration information for your
device. Using these numbers will correct for small deviations
from the ideal offset and gain.
So if you use the gain and offset numbers from the driver, your
measurements will be more accurate than if you assume 0 offset and
perfect gain. They will be most accurate if you make sure to
perform a self-calibration once the device is in your system and at the
temperature that your tests will be run.

Single app mode in my IOS application

I want to implement Single app mode in my IOS application through coding. For this I am doing the following steps:-
1. I am supervising my device through apple configurator and using config profile generated by configurator itself.
2. I have selected the restriction payload to generate my profile because I want single app mode functionality.
3. According to apple documentation one key is added in Restriction payload that is “autonomousSingleAppModePermittedAppIDs” in IOS and later. But I am not able to find it anywhere to fill my bundle identifier. I have tried to add this key manually by editing the profile in text edit but this process invalidates my profile.

I've found a workaround thanks to Chris from Kiosk Pro App.
You need to transform all requests (only when Guided Access is on) with navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeLinkClicked" to navigation type "UIWebViewNavigationTypeOther"
One issue with this workaround is that the Guided Access message still appears for links using types "Form Submitted" and "Form Resubmitted". Trying to transform these types could potentially cause an error with loading the page.

Apps do not appear in applications folder, app store shows that they are installed

My system failed and I had my husband restore all the applications. He was installing Garage Band, iMovie ad iPhoto using the App Store. He paused the download of all the applications since the system had to to do a restart. When the system came back up, App Store was reporting that the applications were installed, but when I looked in the applications folder none of the applications were in the folder.
How do I restore these purchases?

My husband was able to figure it out.
The problem was that the backup of my old system was connected and the old applications folder was found by the App Store App store. So App Store thought that the application was installed even though the application folder was not on the system drive.
The work around was disconnect the drive. My husband thinks that the the App Store should ignore any application that is not in the system Application folder.
