App-v setup.exe /repair, does it keep all its settings?

Hi,
Quick question: when you deploy a App-v package with all its parameters (/INSTALLDIR etc) and you repair the install via setup.exe /repair, all its settings are kept, right?

Re-Install CS2 on Win VISTA but setup.exe now does not respond

I successfully installed and ran my legal, registered CS2 Production Premium on two different Win VISTA 64 machines, first on my original desktop, then my current laptop, which is what I now use.
Each time, CS2 installed OK. I had learned the "trick" was to stop the installation after the last program, before the suite proceeded to do the final steps. If I failed to stop prior to those final steps, the error message about registration occurred. If I stopped prior to the conclusion of the installation, then each program worked fine.
HOWEVER... I recently downloaded and installed CS5 demo, then removed CS5. I had uninstalled CS2 in preparation (because of disk space and potential conflicts). I cleaned the registry, as I also did after uninstalling CS5.
When I went to re-install CS2 (using the original legal disks), now the setup.exe program DOES NOTHING. It whirs when clicked, as if it's launching, then sits idle, not performing any tasks. I've let it "try" for hours, but no results.
I have: clicked on the file from Windows Explorer, I have opened a command line window and run e:\>Setup.exe, I have even copied the disk to the desktop and tried to run Setup.exe from there. There is never an error message. There is only no activity whatsoever from setup.exe.
During the time of the last successful CS2 installation and the current attempt to install, there have been several Vista updates installed on the machine.
So, I have successfully run CS2 on Vista 64, but not since removing the CS5 demo. My system is a multi-core AMD 64-bit processor running Windows Vista Home Premium Build 6002 with all Microsoft updates applied. (And yes, having not had any paying job in almost three years, I cannot figure out a way to fund the upgrade...and, of course, Adobe has cut off support of any kind for CS2.)
Does anyone have experience and a solution?

CS2 is completely unsupported under Vista and Win 7. 64 bit makes it even more difficult.
Unfortunately, you're on your own here. Best bet would be to upgrade to CS5 and you should take note of the fact that if you don't and you wait til CS6 ships you will be out of the upgrade loop altogether and will have to pay full price.

Regarding your broken, previously authorized computer, here's how that works:
You would authorize your new computer -- maybe you've done that already. Then you will have two computers authorized. Apple allows you to have up to five computers authorized at any time. If you get to five, you can then go to your account details in iTunes and remove all authorizations.
Bear in mind this is not saying you can synch to more tham one library. Razmee209 and gdgmacguy's comments above are correct. But if Apple only allowed you to authorize one computer at a time, then having a broken computer would mean you could no longer use your Apple ID with iTunes.

Setup.exe file does not run after the download

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.

- Filename All the disks, 1 through 3, have been downloaded and extracted.

I am unable to run the setup.exe file in Disk1 directory. I think we need more information on how to install the server. Please help us ASAP.

I found out that besides setting the library, I should also set the classpath.
I tried to set the classpath by setting the environment variable CLASSPATH: path1.jar; path2.jar; path3.jar.
I also tried to set it with the command prompt:
CLASSPATH = path1.jar; path2.jar; path3.jar.
But when double clicking on my .exe file, it still does not run and I still get the NoClassDefFoundError.

Oracle 9iLite download setup.exe file does not work

Like many people (I am discovering more by the minute), I am unable to install 9i Lite.5.01. When the setup.exe file is triggered, a hourglass appears for a second, then nothing...
I am installing on a windows 2000 terminal server, therefore I have to go through (Control Panel) Add/Remove Programs. The Oracle Universal Installer says that setup.exe is either a directory or is corrupt.
I have tried a couple of fixes suggested in this forum, such as unzipping the files to /install/disk, but to no avail. I have also tried downloading the software again, but with the same results.
Is there anyone out there who has successfully overcome this problem ?

Yes, there has been a problem reported with setup.exe on the Pentium 4 processor.
To overcome the problem, copy the contents of the CD on to your hard drive.
Then search for every occurence of the file symcjit.dll under the base directory where u have copied from your CD.
and rename them to symcjit.old.
Then launch setup.exe.
This should take care of the problem

Simply connect an external hard drive to it. Format it if it's not labeled as made for Mac using Disk Utility.
I'd recommend backing it up using Time Machine. Your Macbook should ask you if you want this drive to be used for Time Machine....you do.
Once the backup is done you can, later on, use the backup drive to migrate everything to your new iMac.

Why does Firefox 8 lose its settings between sessions?

Version 8 does not hold its settings from one Windows session to another. I have to keep turning the menu bar back on and resizing the window (the default of the left half of the screen -- absolutely WORST place it could be -- keeps coming back!). Fix this or you're going to start losing users by the thousands to Chrome, which never has had these problems. As well, I click Submit Feedback button and nothing happens, the bookmarks toolbar disappears, and the tabs go up top. HORRIBLE!!!

I need to silently install the latest Mozilla firefox on Win7 machines, I do not see any .msi available and the /S or -S commands on the setup.exe installer does not work. Does someone know what can I do?

For windows 7, you can use the -ms switch. For example, I have a batch file that works great. It contains the following:
@ECHO.
@Echo Installing Firefox
@start /wait "Firefox Setup 3.6.10.exe" -ms
However this does not seem to work well in windows XP. To get it to work in windows XP, I had to remove the spaces from the firefox installer and run the following command:
@start /wait FirefoxSetup3.6.10.exe -ms
If anyone has an easier way to get silent install working under XP (without renaming the firefox installer) please let me know!

Yes, he's sure about that and correct. Packages in the context of DISM refers to packages for the OS that directly modify the OS and has nothing to do with ConfigMgr packages or applications.
Windows Store Apps is a completely different thing also and is literally just that, Windows Store Apps which have nothing to do desktop applications.

How do I install a fresh Thunderbird that does not keep the old settings

I have thunderbird with a mish mash of folders etc. I just want it to copy my folders in OUTLOOK that I originally did a few years ago. But I stopped using Thunderbird for awhile and went back to OUTLOOK. Now the Thunderbird and Outlook folders are totally different.
I have uninstalled Thunderbird. Reinstalled it. Everytime I reinstall it it picks up where it left off with the original settings. I want a fresh empty thundirbird.
How do I do that?

If there is anything you want to keep in the old profile make sure you create a backup prior to deleting it.

On your iphone go to Settings>icloud and turn on the things you want to sync with your Mac.

Lightroom does not keep my personalised settings or catalogues even though I select back up. Please help...

Hello, I've used LR a number of times, however the last few occasions whenever I close down and select back up in theory all should be ok but when I go to open lightroom again, none of my personalised settings are there and not one catalogue is there. It appears to look like it's just been installed which is starting to cause big problems for me. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If, by “backup” you mean what LR does on the way out as you shut it down, then that merely makes a copy of your catalog to somewhere else. It shouldn’t be changing any settings or removing your current catalog. Does the catalog remain if you don’t do a backup?
After starting up LR, if you choose Open Recent> and select your previous catalog do you see your previous work?
How are you verifying the catalog is gone, by LR asking you to create a new one each time you start it, or by going out and using Finder to view the location on the hard-drive where the catalog should be and there is no .lrcat file, anymore?

If by "all" you literally mean "all", no.
Depending on the version of Oracle (which you don't mention) as well as the edition and the management packs licensed, there is a good probability that all the SQL statements that have actually been executed for the past N days will be available in the AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) tables (where N is whatever you've configured your AWR retention to be). Depending on what you are trying to do, however, you may need to look at the ASH data as well.

HT4060 why after charging and leaving my ipad overnight does it lose all its charge

Can anyone help, after charging my ipad3 which does not take 100% charge only around 75%, i leave it overnight and in the morning it is dead?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging).
