App Volumes and Dragon Dictation

I work at a hospital, and some doctors need Dragon to dictate notes.  ThinApp was a failure.  I did get this working with Unidesk, but we own App Volumes so I'd like to use it.  In my testing we can install it, and it runs, but it keeps wanting to run the Audio Setup Wizard every time the user logs in to View (we refresh desktops).  Has anyone out there had a successful deployment of Dragon with App Volumes?

Immidio is a profile management system, sort of like AppSense Personalisation. It only records information that would normally be written into the roaming profile but instead records it when using an application (roughly though, not an expert on Immidio).
My thoughts will be that Immido will not be sold as a stand alone product but either be integrated into the writable volume option of AppVolumes. My guess would be that it is rather easy to install Dragon into an appstack (just the base application), the trick will be how to set license information (single user licensed, isn't it?) and user configuration. This part i guess could be handled by Immidio but as said, my bet would be on Appvolumes Writable volumes Profile option.

  • Can the Mavericks dictation and speech app coexist with Dragon Dictate?

I just turned on the dictation and speech app.  I already had dragon dictate installed.  Now nothing works for dictation.  Can they exist together?  How? Thanks for the help.

I too have Dragon Dictate.  There appear to be some low-level device driver conflicts between Mavericks Dictate and Dragon Dictate, especially when using the Plantronics BT300 wireless headset.  The Plantronics BT300 unit has a pre-paired bluetooth USB attachment that connects with the wireless headset.
Usually the Dragon Dictate software works when I launch it.
When I try to use the BT300 headset with certain other apps, sometimes it hangs.
In particular, when using GoToMeeting, the Plantronics BT300 microphone works, but the Plantronics BT300 audio does not work.  I am able to use the built-in Mac speakers on my iMac to receive the audio.
In trying to set up the BT300 headset for both microphone and audio output to the BT300 headset, the system displays the "beach ball" for lengthy periods of time.  A couple of times the entire iMac system hung, and I had to do a force power-off, then reboot.
Today was the first time I attempted to turn on the Mavericks Dictate.  The entire system appeared to slow down around the attempt to use the Plantronics BT300 headset.  I will next turn off Dragon Dictate, and see if Mavericks Dictate will accept the BT300 unit.
I have also a wired Plantronics headset, and will unhook the bluetooth headset and plug in the wired headset and see if that combination works any better.
Just to complicate things, I have also installed Parallels Desktop for Mac (and keep it updated to the current version and update level for Mavericks).  Parallels has a virtual audio adapter, and I have NOT yet tried using either version of Dictate with a Windows guest operating system.
    Advice and comments are appreciated.

  • Macbook Pro and Dragon Dictate 2.0

Anyone have Dragon Dictate 2.0 on their Macbook Pro? I'd like Dragon Dictate 2.0 but not sure if my computer would handle it without freezing up or even run it at all. I don't have Snow Leopard but the system requirements don't say I need it (although I have seen reviewers state you do need it).
I have Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.8 and...
    Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: MBP31.0070.B07
    SMC Version (system): 1.16f11

    From the vendor's web site:

    You could always ask them.

  • Microphone jack and Dragon Dictate

    Hello,
I occasionally use Dragon Dictate and yesterday I turned it on and it can't find the microphone.
When the mike is pluggrd into the USB adapter there is indication it is working but no indication that it works when plugged into the Audio line-in port.
Either way the dictation software no longer finds the mike.
    Thanks,
    Garrett

Thank you, I've been using what I thought was the line in port for over a year without a problem (the one in back?)
Then you must have a microphone that outputs line level. No Mac has had a true microphone input in many years.

  • OSX 10.8 and Dragon Dictate

    From JohnG49 (Sydney Australia)
I have upgraded to OSX 10.8 so that I could use Dragon Dictate 3 ($200.00 Australian) which is not supported on Snow Leopard.  BUT have discovered Mountain Lion has lost expose and spaces which I use(d) all the time for report writing.
Does anyone have a work around to get expose and spaces onto Mountain Lion, so far it looks like Snow Leopard was the better OS for work.
    Regards
    JohnG49

A lot of people complain about the same feature. You can't recover Spaces and Exposé as they were in Snow Leopard because Mission Control has replaced them > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4689?viewlocale=en_US
However, you can modify some settings to make Mission Control more similar to Exposé (unfortunately, you can't modify Spaces). For example, if you want that windows show in Mission Control in the same way as they did in Snow Leopard, open System Preferences > Mission Control, and untick "Group windows by application"

  • App Volumes C Drive refresh issue

    Hi,
We are having an issue with VDI desktops using App Volumes. Basically once we deploy a desktop with the App Volumes Agent we cannot permanently modify or create any files on the C Drive.
If we create a folder on the C Drive or install local software it will all work OK until the desktop is rebooted. After the reboot though all files/software are gone. It is almost like the desktop reverts to its original state after deployment.
This only happens to desktops with the App Volumes Agent installed. We have tested with desktops without the Agent and they are not experiencing the same issue. I have compared the Pool settings and they are identical.
Is this a know issue with App Volumes and is there any way to prevent this?
    Thank you.

I agree with Ray that you should probably be deploying certs in a different way in order to use the App Volumes product as intended (floating linked clone pools).  I would use GPOs to deploy certificates myself.

  • Packaging Licenced Applications Through App Volumes

I'm having problems with App Volumes and I  cant find any online recourses to help, so reaching out to the community.
In Thinapp you would set your provisioning desktop into capture mode, install your application, open it up, put a product key in, mess about with pop ups saying "don't show again" etc etc then hit build. and all is well. (most of the time)
How do you do that in App Volumes? After I install the application in capture mode I open the newly installed application up, put the licence code in, place a shortcut on the desktop then Click OK to complete, reboot the provisioning desktop and click Complete on the App stack then assign it to a different desktop to test on. The application itself has been packaged fine and appears but it doesn't recognise I put in a licence code when I opened it up earlier nor put a shortcut on the desktop. It seems that anything I do outside the initial install (when still in capture mode) doesn't get captured and carried on to the desktops.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
    Barry

It depends on what you thin is easy. We did indeed do this with APPV and it worked great. Only problem with applications like APPV (i don't know ThinApp that well to be hnoest) is that all information was stored in a read write file that you could not access and only remove as a hole thus removing all settings.
For as far as i'm aware they make use of different settings to do this. As said you could be using Microsoft Policies for copying files into APPDATA (works like a charm with item level targeting) or use the startup.bat file in the appstack. You can set all sorst of commands into this file that needs to be executed when being attached to the machine.
You could also be using anything from a writable volume up to persona management and roaming profile to save these settings for users so they only need to do this once.
Also, if you need to have a shortcut on the desktop for all users either install the application withe the ALLUSERS=1 attribute or create the shortcut in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu (for all users start menu) or the C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop (all users desktop) so every user that logs in gets the application.
I do understand that, with using a tool like ThinApp it seems like it is an easy solution but to be honest i like the way that Appvolumes does it much better. I am able to set up personal settings for a user by using policies or the bat file but the settings i create in this case are easily changable (because in the Appdata of the user) and customizable per user. If you add this into the ThinApp applications your not that flexible.

  • Dragon Dictation app

Does anyone know when the Dragon Dictation app will be available in the UK apps store for iPhone.

Their website says you can only get it in the US and Canadian App Store, but in the past, Nuance Communication have said that are trying to release it elsewhere such as the UK.
No news as yet but keep an eye on their blog.
p.s. the US version works fine and I have a fairly "Cockney" accent

I have Dragon Dictate but did not notice until now that the earphone jack is only for listening so I cannot dictate using headphones and the mic on the computer is not good enough for that. A friend gave me a USB card that says 3D Sound on top; it is  a plastic case, charcoal gray in color and side jacks to connect headphone and mic. Connected to computer but it does not do a thing. Any ideas on how to make it work?

You are not supposed to connect a pair of speakers(as in left and right in a stereo pair)to two separate out jacks on the sound card.the place on the card where headphones/speakers with the mini jack goes is the right place.

  • Is it possible to use an iTunes gift card to purchase in app items such as gems in knights and dragons?

I'm curious if it possible to use iTunes gift cards to purchase in application items such as gems on knights and dragons and if so how?

    Hello Rhicks636,
Thanks for the question. The following resource may provide an answer to your question:
App Store Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2001
    Accepted payment types
Shopping the App Store requires an iTunes Store account. When you create an iTunes Store account, you must provide a payment method for your purchase. The available payment methods vary by country, but typically you can use credit cards, gift cards, store credit, or PayPal.
In countries where the iTunes Store only sells applications, the accepted payment methods are Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Other payment types such as gift cards, store credit, monthly allowances, and PayPal are not accepted. Depending on your App Store country, prices are listed in either US Dollars or Euros.
With the above information kept in mind, if you have a gift card balance on your Account, the purchased content (in this case, and in-app purchase) will be debited from the balance.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Why can't I get Dragon Dictation app in New Zealand?

I have read in many publications about the app Dragon Dictation which I would like to have but it does not seem to exist here in New Zealand. I think it is available in Australia. Can someone please tell me how I can get it in New Zealand? Thank you.

Thanks for that, however there is no Apps store in N.Z. we get all our apps from the U.S. I think. Can get all other apps I have wanted just not Dragon Dictation.
