App with DPS?

Hi:
I know folks use it for Magazines. But can I develop a simple app with DPS? With some audio, animation and video.
I have the single (CC) edition. Will apple let me submit an app in DPS format?
Sorry for simple question. But I couldn't find the answer when I searched.

The app would be very interactive (IMO). You could choose between 5 tabs. Under tab 1, you can choose an amount of time for a certain activity (3, 4, or 5 minutes). The activity is guided by an animation. Under tab 2, there's a different animation (maybe 2 or 3 to choose from) for a different type of activity. Again, you can choose the length of time. In tab 3, you can choose between 3 audio tracks, for 3, 4 or 5 minutes. You can also select male or female voice. In tab 4, you have the choice of 3 videos. Again, you can choose the amount of time the video plays. You can also choose between a few audio tracks to accompany it. In tab 5, there might be a autoplay slideshow, or another animation. (Haven't worked it out yet...)
I know how to do all of these things in DPS. So thought I could build the app myself. But that's only if Apple allows app to be submitted in DPS format. I do think it has lots of interactivity. Thoughts? Thanks!!!

STANDALONE Apps with DPS?

Hi. I am looking to create STANDALONE apps with Indesign and Digital Publishing Suite.
I've tried to do it, but I can only create contents for Adobe Viewer!! I need to make an app "independent from a viewer".
Can DPS do it?
The exemple i've seen is the app "Hangar Soul" for iPad (is a free app you can download), with a top menu, a "page scroll in the downside" and interactive pages (they seems to be made with Digital Publishing Suite!!)

It is not clear if I can personalize the viewer with my icons and a new navigation logic with the Single Edition.
For exemple:
If I have these pages (folio1 folio2 and folio3, each one made by three pages, a b, c)
1a. 2a. 3a.
1b. 2b. 3b.
1c. 2c. 3c.
I need to navigate ever in the A level when I scroll in left or right folio. Not so in Adobe viewer.
Exemple Adobe Viewer: 1a > 2a V 2b<2a
Exemple I want: 1a > 2a V 2b<1a (NOT 2a!)

Versions professional and enterprise made the same things of Single edition, and other features, too? Or only Single edition make apps standalone?

The same certificate used to previously sign your current live app should also be used to sign the updated APK you are trying to send to Google play. Looks like you have used a different certificate this time which is why you are getting the error.
You should look for the correct cert on your machine, must be lying out there somewhere. Else if you think you've lost/deleted the cert, there's no way the existing app can be updated. Instead your app has to be uploaded as a new app.
Advise: Always backup your Android .p12 or .keystore certificates somewhere up in the cloud ;-)

Create Quiz using FormsCentral that gives a score out of 10. Add to an app with DPS. Possible?

I'd like to create a quiz using FormsCentral. At the end of the multiple choice quiz I'd like the user to be given a score out of 10. Once this is prepared I'd like to add this into an offline app being created for iPad using InDesign and DPS. 10 iPads will be used at an exhibition for kids to learn about Civil Engineering. They wil be offline so all content will need to be sourced locally on the iPad. Is this possible and a viable and appropriate way to achieve this?

FormsCentral doesn't seem like a good fit for use in an offline app. I would suggest posting your question to the DPS forum to see if anyone else has tried to publish something with similar behavior.

Single folio app with DPS PRO

I have a dps Pro account.
I would like to create a single folio app for iOS( iPad-iphone) and android devices that it will be free of charge.
i know that single folio app can be created for iOS and in that case there is charge for folio fulfillment.Is that correct?
For android version can i create a single folio app?As i have see i think that this is not possible.Is that correct?In that case is there anything else that i could do?For example if i create a multi folio app and i upload only one folio will this work?In that case does the charge for folio fulfillment exist?

Single edition apps are iPad only and do not incur a download charge. For Android you need to create a multifolio app even if it will contain only a single folio.

Publish a multifolio-viewer with DPS Single Edition

You can only create built in Apps with DPS Single Edition. Multi Issue apps cannot be created using DPS SE or DPS CC.
For creating Multi Issue apps, you'll need to switch to DPS Professional or Enterprise Edition.

Confused with DPS versions?

Being a creative cloud subscriber, I have the ability to build sinlge edition apps with DPS, but I am very confused as to what this means.
I have a publication which we want to get on the iTunes store. It is one publication which will have multiple issues going forward (one a month). With the single edition version of DPS, will I be able to submit additional issues to my app or does every issue have to be it's own app? Furthermore, will I be able to require readers to subscribe to read the publication?
It would seem completely illogical to me to not let an app update with future issues of a publication and I really hope this isn't the case.

You can set up an account at digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/welcome/ using whatever email/username/password the client would like. When firing up DPS, you login to the Folio Builder using those credentials then build your folio accordingly.
For the next client, repeat the process using a different email/username/password.
I would also recommend having your own acrobat.com account for testing purposes then, when the folio is complete and good to go, just recreate the entire folio in the proper client account.
I'd definitely get with the client and see how they'd like to proceed. Contrary to other advice, with using the Adobe Content Viewer method the size of your viewship is meaningless. Doesn't matter if there's 10 or 1000 people logging in and using the folio via the Content Viewer - it works the same way. There's no download or signup limit that I'm aware of.. With an Enterprise account, there's a far greater level of control and security that a corporation would appreciate - including distribution. If there's an enterprise account, the IT group can set up provisional profiles that go out to pre-approved devices (iPad, iPhone, Android), and then the users can download. Much better control and I believe that IT could also immediately revoke permissions if necessary. With the Content Viewer method, once it's out there...it's out there. No way to pull it from individual devices. You'd have to delete the entire folio in the Builder...but then everyone loses it the next time they login to the Content Viewer app.

As Bern510 says, you'll need to recreate certificates that are valid. I suggest following our step-by-step publishing guide, which walks through how to obtain certificates correctly.

Replacing an existing app not made with DPS?

I have an app on itunes right now that was not developed with DPS. Can I use my rebuilt app in DPS as a rivision? How do I replace it?

Yes you should be able to create a new verison in Itunes Connect.
+ you need to use the same bundle ID for the new build to be considered an update.

When you revise your app, use the same App ID and distribution provisioning profile to
create the new custom viewer. If you updated the folio, select the folio and choose Create App
from the Folio Builder panel menu. Create a new app version (you can delete the previous instance
of the app in DPS App Builder). If you use mobileprovision files based on the same App
ID as the previous version, Apple will recognize the rebuilt app as the same app. Download
and test the development file.
In iTunes Connect, click Manage Your Applications, click the app you want to update, and then
click Add Version. Follow the prompts, and then use Application Loader to upload the .zip file.

How many apps, folios and downloads are included with DPS Enterprise?

How many unique apps, folios (not fully sure I understand folios vs multifolios) and app downloads are included with DPS Enterprise annually?

Unlimited apps are included. The number of folios doesn't matter. The number of downloads included will vary based on your discussions the sales team.

Problem with DPS App Builder

I have a problem with app multi-folio creation, after selected all icons and right certificates when I press Create App the program generate an error of a missing file, assets.zip, but I've added only icons, splash images and anything else. About one mounth ago I've created another app with same settings and it has worked well. I tried to reinstall DPS App Builder but same problem...what I can do?

I'm having the same error message when trying to re-submit my app. I've already submitted and apple have approved, I've then just made a few text tweaks and I'm trying to download the development and distribution files but having no luck only the folio error message!
And I don't know how to creat the 2 files you talk about to resolve the issue. Is this easy to do? If so, would you be kind enough to tell me how or point me in the right direction.

Criteria for Transferring an App
Before you transfer an app to another developer, ensure you’ve met the following criteria:
(1) Make sure your accounts aren’t in a pending or changing state.
For example, make sure your account or your recipient’s account have agreed to any contract amendments that wait for approval and that any iAd App Network-related account information is up to date. See “Viewing Contracts and Contract Status.”
(2) Make sure the app uses only technology and content that can be transferred.
No version of the app can use an iCloud entitlement.
No version of the app can use a Passbook entitlement.
The app can’t offer (or have previously offered) In-App Purchase subscriptions: auto-renewable, free, or non-renewing.

You've highlighted the relevant point. If your app offered in-app subscriptions you can't transfer it.

When creating an Android app in DPS App Builder, why do I not have the option of "Multi Folio with Amazon Subscription"?

The only option available is Google Play. Why is this happening?

I found a folder with an old APK file that worked. I wish I could edit it because it has the wrong splash screen attached to it, but at least the app is working. I wish I could have the app back in app builder and be able to edit that. I understand that you all aren't going to support these Amazon Subscription apps but we have current subscribers and they may have a full year left. We are stuck with an app that we still need to use until their subscriptions are up before we can make a change to how our android user are going to receive their magazines. Adobe should allow some sort of support for this type of situation. Now I have an app with a bad splash screen that looks completely unprofessional. Is there anyway to recover the file in App Builder? Is that what you were referring to or were you just referring to the APK file? I do appreciate all your help and attention to this.
