App won't install. Says no free space, over 3 times needed.

I'm trying to install Chinatown Wars onto my iPhone 3G. It requires 188mb to install. I cleared 785mb to install it, but it still says that I cannot install due to insufficient free space.
Any advice? Thanks.

This means the storage space on your iPhone was completely full or very close to it. As with a computer's hard drive, you should have some free storage space available or you may experience some operational problems and possibly the loss of data especially with 3rd party apps that create and store data.

  • ARMv6 build won't install, says too little space.

    Hey all,
I know the ARMv6 build is still experimental and therefore temperamental, but I saw the notice that it was broken has been removed and decided to give it a shot on my Eris.
When I attempt to install, I get the error "Fennec could not be viewed. Free up some space on your phone and try again." I have 34 MB free. For a 13 MB apk, that seems like it should be enough, but apparently I'm wrong.
How much free space do I need exactly to give the ARMv6 build a spin?
    Thanks!

Not sure the most that should be needed is ~double the download size for it to be in the download folder then copied to the data folder for applications. Matt if you see this, any thoughts?

  • New apps won't install, just bouce in the dock and time out

Was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. I'm in Japan and apple support in English seems to be manned by one guy whose only solution to any problem is to backup everything and reinstall. Getting kind of frustrated.
Lately, I am unable to install new software I download from the web. It downloads the package, loads the disc image and if I click on install.app , the icon bounces in the dock for about minute then times out and I have to force quit it. If I install an app that just requires dragging the app into the app folder, when I try to open it, the same thing happens. I can't pinpoint when this started or what might have caused it but the last app I was able to successfully download and install was a trial version of Bento. I've tried about 10 different apps and its the same problem with each.
Any ideas what might be causing this? Help is very much appreciated!!

    Thanks Daniel!
Onyx worked. Though I'm not sure what part of it worked. I had to try several different cleanings and whatnot. Seems like the problem might have been Desktoptopia. I remember now, when I installed that software, these problems came up. Now, everytime I reboot, I get a "are you sure you want to open this file downloaded from the internet" box for desktoptopia even though I can find no trace of the app on my computer anymore. Very strange.
Anyway, at least apps are installing again. Thanks!

There is no download for 10.4.x or 10.5.x, there is a very slim chance you can get 10.5 by calling Apple, but usually you can only get it on eBay & such.
    Tiger Requirements...
To use Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, your Macintosh needs:
        * A PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
        * Built-in FireWire
        * At least 256 MB of RAM (I recommend 1GB minimum)
        * DVD drive (DVD-ROM), Combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) or SuperDrive (DVD-R) for installation
        * At least 3 GB of free disk space; 4 GB if you install the XCode 2 Developer Tools  (I recommend 20GB minimum)

        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)

I just paid the $19.99, and the app won't install.  I have it already on my computer from a free trial a few years ago, but it won't let me continue without a serial number.  My email didn't include that

Different licaensing methods, different serial numbers.
You won't be able to register a few year old software with the serial number from today.
Download a current version and install.

  • Apps won't install/update. Low memory.

For ipod touch 4g...using iOS 5.1--can someone tell me why my apps won't install all of a sudden? I thought it might be a memory problem since the diagnostic says my mem is low, but closing all apps in the dock didn't help. Neither did restarting or resetting the ipod.

It shows that I have 14.3GB free. What happens is that whenever I try to install an app it stays at the 'waiting' stage for a really long time. Then when I erase the app and try to reinstall it tells me that the app has already been downloaded and that I should check for available downloads. Installing the app from the computer works fine, but I don't understand why I can't do it from the ipod anymore.

  • Idea Tab A8-50 (A5500)- PAID apps won't install

    Good Afternoon,
I purchased an A5500 (A8-50) tablet in May in Austria/Europe. I noticed an issue concerning the use of PAID apps purchased from Google Play Store. I do not experience these problems with any other devices or Android-versions. I received a replacement but still the same issues. I called Lenovo Support, but it could not help at all.
    4.2.2:
Out of the box the A5-80 runs Android 4.2.2. You may install and use free Apps from Google Play Store with no problems. Paid apps are downloaded and installed. You may run the app afterwards, however, once you turn off the device (shut down) your paid apps get lost. After boot-up free apps work as usual. PAID apps won’t start at all. Android displays “Anwendung ist nicht installiert” (“Application not installed”). There is no problem in re-downloading and re-installing the paid apps from Google Play again. One may also use these apps – until reboot. This has to be a bug, not a feature – I am not keen on having to install every paid app again after any reboot. Not shutting down the tablet is not option for me.
    4.4.2:
OTA Upgrades form Lenovo do solve the problem either. The first to upgrades (after receiving the device) are 4.2.2-updates. The third one upgrades to Android 4.4.2. After such update PAID apps won’t install at all. There is no issue with free apps. The latest update (July 9, 2014; “still” 4.4.2) does not bring any change. PAID apps are downloaded from Google Play Store but not installed. Rather Android displays an error message "Installation auf dem USB-Speicher bzw. der SD-Karte fehlgeschlagen" (Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card). In my opinion this can only refer to internal memory as no external SD-Card is installed and free apss are installed as usual.
Does anyone else experience these problems?
Is there a resolution to this?
    Best regards,
    Matthias

    Hi,
It is not a swype bug (Swype is also one of the paid apps I use). It relates to any paid app. Free apps (as you experienced with the Swype free) have no problems.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop app won't install error 207; Adobe server?

Is there a problem with some of Adobe.com servers? My employer just purchased a CC subscription for my work Mac, and the CC Desktop App won't install. I've restarted my Mac, quit all Adobe products, redownloaded the DMG file (creativecloudinstaller.dmg), and checked to make sure my firewall is off. But I still get an error message #207. My DNS servers are set to the same ones that other Macs in my group are set to, and they have CC on their Macs.
I don't know if it's related, but I can't load "adobe.com" in my browser, either. All other webpages are fine, including (obviously) this forum.
I am using OS 10.8.5, connected via Ethernet, and my browser is Chrome.

Thank you for your help, Ned. I also called Adobe help via phone, and he confirmed that my company's server needed to whitelist several Adobe sites. The company had revised their servers not long ago, and evidently did not transfer their old whitelists (which is why my coworkers had previously been able to access Creative Cloud). The phone support person emailed me a helpful list that I could forward to our company's tech support center—but the link you supplied in your response was also perfectly relevant.

just downloaded802.11n software enabler - but it won't install, says hardware problem? just before downloading I did chat with customer support who said I was OK with my hardware:
    Machine Name: MacBook
    Machine Model: MacBook1,1
    Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2

Your MacBook has a "Core Duo" processor.
The 'n' enabler is ONLY for "Core 2 Duo" processors.

  • Update available for firefox 3.6.12 but won't install;says connection timed out

I've had firefox 3.6.12 for a couple of months. it says an upgrade is available, but won't install. says connection timed out. I tried it from IE 8 as well, same result. Took me a half our just to get to mozilla.com I installed IE 8 2 days ago, and since then, my monitor flashes the page when i'm in gmail. Also flash videos won't play worth a crap. I just installed K-lite Mega 6.6 to try to fix that.

I wonder if it's not some of the newer technologies like HTML 5 that the other browsers support. I have the same problem, and the sites load fine in Opera. I still have 3.6 (whatever's latest), and haven't upgraded to 4 yet because of all the extensions I use. I'm waiting until it's more stable and my more important extensions are usable. I use Hulu's desktop viewer and Opera to make up for it, currently.
Adding screenshots of my experience with it. The text will load, but no video or images. That's why I thought it might be some new language / protocol.

  • Pages app won't install

Can anyone help me figure out why pages app won't install?

My response was to the original poster.... Ebgsliz
This gets confusing as it is better for most people to start their own thread so they can get personal help.
As you see, you thought I was replying to you...
    Not the case....
Now there are two conversations going on here and distracting from the original poster and his problems....

  • Downloaded app won't install

I have downloaded an app called "Backstab" and it won't install on my ipod, even though it says 'installing'
I've authorized my PC too, but still nothing.
I can't update my iTunes or iPod cos I don't have admin privilages on my PC (which really is annoying)
So I dunno if it's to do with that or what?!
The app is 922.1MB and I have 3.11 GB free, surely that's enough space for 5 games (or so) in one??
Anyone know what I can do?
I've turned on/off 'manually sort files out', and 'automatically sync new apps'; nothing
Pleeeeease help as it's reeeeeeeally bugging me... all I wanna do is play it!!!!
My itunes then crashes!!! (it still says 'Syncing' tho!)

You might need a little more free space to sync. During the sync process iTunes may need up to 3 or 4 times more free space than the original size of the app.
Try removing some music or videos, sync your game and put the other files back again after that.

  • Boot Camp Problem. Won't recognize 10 gb free space. HELP!

I recently came to the conclusion that all pc games will only run well through boot camp. I've opend the app before and have played with it before but not acctualy run the whole thing with it. I open up the application and hit continue and select the windows support software download and hit continue. A small messsage pops up saying I don't have at least 10 gb free, even though I have 20 gb free. Please help!
    Thanks

Free, contiguous, unfragmented, AND your OS X HFS+ needs 10-20%, 20GB of free space, left.
The minimum for XP may be 10GB, but the minimum for Windows 7, which is all that Boot Camp 4.0 Lion supports, is more like 48GB.
Upgrading to SP1 and all the other patches can require 9GB free temp space.
    your page should be 4-8GB
hibernation file would be 4GB or whatever RAM you have installed
    Windows cache can take 1-3GB
A 48GB partition is probably reasonable size - the minimum that Apple and MS list of 20GB is way too small and does cause nothing but trouble.
