App Works With 1.3.1 but Broken With 1.4.1

(Didn't get answered in JSDK forum, hence posting here now)
Hi everyone,
I developed an application with 1.3.1. Everthing was fine, until I upgraded to 1.4.1. Now some of my swing components show a grey background (instead of the assigned, blue color) and the text on those components has gaps in it (kinda like broken text).
I have re-compiled the app with 1.4.1, and it has been deployed for everyone's use and it works fine on everyone else's computer (they all have 1.3.1), but it is still broken on my computer.
Any ideas?

Look at the compatibility statements for all Java releases following the 1.3.1 version you're using, up to and including the 1.4.1 version you're using. Obviously one of the changes affected your code - there is no guarantee of compatibility with older code.

And it's totally impractical for any OS to provide complete backwards compatibility in perpetuity. So no, Apple cannot grant your request. As WJ said, it's the developers' reponsibility to provide updates to their applications to be compatible with newer operating system releases, whatever the platform might be.

Blackberries were designed at a time when cellular data was very expensive. They don't do nearly as much as an iPhone, in part, to conserve data use. All modern smartphones will use more data than a Blackberry unless you do almost nothing.
You do not need to quite apps. Almost no apps run in the background.

There are several. I have apps associated with two motion monitors and they work.
Look for apps you need, read their specs and if it doesn't clearly say they work with the Health app, ask the developer if it does.

Android App - works fine in Device Central but not in phone

Greetings!
Just looking for some general "you might try this" tips. I've built a very basic game app for Android so I can start learning not only how to develop for Android, but also how to publish and distribute Android apps to users.
My game works fine when I test in Device Central from Flash. And I've been able to upload my app to the Android Market. But when I install and run on my Android phone (I've actually tested on two separate devices), I just get a light yellow screen with a series of tiny dots that move across the screen, almost like a loading indicator, but nothing happens after that.
I've tried publishing as both an Air (Air 2) file and a Flash (Flash 10) file. In device central, I tested the app on a Droid Incredible emulation. The devices I've tested on are an HTC Inspire (AT&T) and an HTC Thunderbolt (Verizon).
So, I know there's no way for someone to take my limited description above and say "this is your problem". Again, I'm just hoping for some general tips along the lines of "try publishing in a different version of Flash".
Any suggestions for where I should start digging?

Sign out of the store on your phone, then sign back in. Note having content from more than one country's store may complicate the process of updating apps and downloading past purchases.

Scaling mobile app works fine on the X but not on the Y

I originally made my app to work for iphone only but I am now scaling it to work on Ipad/ Android etc. I am doing all the scaling manually. It is a tabbed application.
I am scaling all x and y locations and widths and heights by a scale factor that is created using..
scaleFactorX = stage.width/320;
scaleFactorY = stage.height/480;
It works perfectly on the x but not quite enough on the y as objects look a little squashed vertically.
I can't think why this is. If I were to alter the y scalefactor it would put things out when at the original phone size.
The only part I'm not scaling manually is the actionBar and the bottom tabs. They are currently using default skins which use the DPI classification to determined size. I have however overridden this and set the action bar to use a skin with a much greater layoutContentGroupHeight. This hasn't however had any effect on the y scaling of objects in the main display area.
The y scale isn't out by much, but it bothers me. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Custom app working with CRE 8.5, not working after migration to BOE XI

I have this custom legacy app coming from way back in time, which -among other things- connects to a CRE 8.5 APS to get the list of available reports and the rights of a given user over those reports (view instances, request on demand, and so on). The logic of this custom application works quite well, though it's a bit cryptic (to me at least).
Now, I have the task of migrating the app from CRE 8.5 to BOE XI R2. The migration itself was rather easy, thanks to the migration wizards, and all the users, groups, permission settings, and everything else seems to have been properly replicated in the BOE XI CMS. However the custom app is not working so well after the migration: it can retrieve all the info about the reports and do pretty much the same it was doing before the migration, but when it comes to user's security settings (permissions to see or request a given report) the app just can't get the proper info.
To properly explain what's going on, I will have to go into detail with some lengthy description of the code.
Here it goes. This is the (partial) code that queries if a given user (UserID) has permission to view and/or request on demand a set of reports in the server:

I have two scenarios, for the same user. The first scenario is the custom app working against a CRE 8.5 server. The second scenario is the same app against a BOE XI server, and the data in that server is the result of running the import wizard, using the 8.5 server as the source of data. The app was done with VB6, and the only difference between working against 8.5 or XI, is the set of dll's used in each case (code compiles flawlessly with either set of libraries).
ROD stands for Request On Demand. True means the user can ROD. False, the user can't.
VRI stands for View Report Instance. Same deal.
intFolderRightsCount and intReportRightsCount are both calculated from the GetRightsCount function, like this:

It sounds like you are trying to purchase an app on your iPhone while in Nigeria. You do not need to create a new Apple ID to do this. You will just need change the iTunes Store country in your iPhone settings and update your billing information to match the country you are in:
Change your iTunes Store country
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
Follow the onscreen process to change your region, agree to the terms and conditions for the region if necessary, and then change your billing information.

You'll have to look at the requirements for each App in the app to determine whether or not it will still work with a 2G iPod Touch, which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1.
Several apps have already been updated to require iOS 5 or later, which can be installed on a 3G iPod Touch.
So in my opinion, it would be much more effective to purchase a 3G iPod Touch instead.

To my knowledge none of Microsoft's apps accept input via handwriting nor drawing. If you want to use a stylus, there are other apps available in which you can write and/or draw, including Penultimate, Notability, and others. You can find suggestions here:

hi, i made a 3d scene using height map it worked perfect on sun emulator but did not work on real device Nokia 6280 and instead said nullpointer exception there is no err with jar file or any other small error.

If I buy the new Iphoto app with my Iphone 4s, will I be able to sync it to a new Ipad later or will I have to buy a different version for the Ipad? I just can't remember how those ILife Apps work as far as if you buy them on one device if they are good on all devices.

iPhoto for iOS will work on both iPhones and iPad. You'll need an iPhone 4 or later and and iPad 2 or later.

Do you have any Power PC Apps on your Mac?
They will NOT run on Mavericks (or Lion, or ML)
in System Information (I think it was called System Profiler in SL),

(If no PowerPC Apps, then best to test yourself (or ask in the "Motu Digital Performer" forums (if it exists)
