  • BB 8520 @ MTN - BB APP WORLD DISAPPEARED.

I have upgraded BB8520 TO V.5 AND.... the BB App World and the n Browser has disappeared.I decided to RESET the BB and reinstall The BB HANDHELD SOFTWARE onto my Phone via the DESKTOP Software.
I have even downgraded the OS to version:4.6 and same.On the Desktop Software it shows it is there, but on my Phone nothing.I have never Back up THEIS PHONE, THUS i CANNOT RESTORE.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest a very clean OS reload. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below. As you say, this is now moot in your situation.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
Once complete, the first thing to do is with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If BBWorld is still not there, then please try this sequence:
    1) Remove AppWorld from your BB
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
    2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
    3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld
    http://blackberry.com/appworld/download
Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
    4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
    5) See if it now works.
If all fails, then contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Cheers!

  • App World disappeared, purchase failed

Tried buying an app ("Catapult", I believe), and after entering info ("Vanilla Visa", prepaid debit card), etc, it said there was an issue processing, and to go to blackberry.com/appworld/support; it also mentioned error ID 11000. Woke up today, go into main menu...and App World is gone, along with all of the notification's from it which would be in my inbox; and yet it still show's up under Option's->Application's->Add-on. Is/was version 2.1.1.2, as I found no reason for the update anywhere, other than to be up to date. I'm a nerd, but it doesn't make sense; is it mad that I didn't update yet, and decided to mess with me?

Sorry to double-post, but I cannot find an "edit" option, and my native browser is acting up. I found KB22944, about backing up the BB and then wiping it to fix disappearing App World v1.etc, but I can't do the backup except with BB Protect, and I have no WiFi access. I'm also not too keen on downloading all the app's again. Could I delete it in the Application's->Option's->Add-On list, and then re-install from blackberry.com? Edit: Yes, it can be deleted & re-installed. Trying to install over "magically hidden" version will cause the update to be magically hidden, too. Half solved, now just to figure out error code 11000 and how to destroy it.

  • App World disappeared and I cant seem to download it

    Hi,
So somehow I cannot find App World in my Storm 2 9520 anymore.
When, using Opera Mini, I logo into the "http://us.blackberry.com/apps/app-world.html?d=others&o=m" website, I am given 3 choices:
    UPgrade Today
    Browse Apps
    Download it today
Of course I click the last one, only to be directed to this address: "https://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=appworld" on which I am informed that
"Downloads via a USB connection are not enabled for this product. Please visit our mobile download site using the browser on your BlackBerry® smartphone."
If I click the link above, it loops back to the same page!
    What can I do??

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Well, first thing...AppWorld is an actual installed app on your BB, you don't use it on your BB via any browser (e.g., Opera).
The only time a browser is involved is if you run a browser on your computer, and connect your BB to your PC via USB...normally, though, I believe that the required plug-in is only compatible with IE (though I so rarely use that method that I'm not sure if perhaps they've improved upon that restriction).
So I am not quite certain that I understand exactly what you are doing...please clarify.
Did you perhaps intend your use of Opera to be one of attempting to re-install AW onto your BB? If so, then please first verify if AW remains installed on your BB:
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
If it does, then what happened when the icon vanished? Did you install something? An update? A theme? Something else? If so, that may be hiding the icon from you. Or you may have accidentally hidden/moved the icon.
If it is not installed, then to reinstall, please use your native BB Browser and go to:
    http://blackberry.com/appworld/download
and attempt the reinstall in that manner.
Good luck and let us know!

  • App World Disappeared

    Hello All,
I was hoping someone would be able to help me.
Late last night I was notified of a BB App World Update, and so tried to update it, although when it finished, my App World disappered.
I've done the obvious things, looked around other folders, and I can't find it.  It is however in my application list.  I've also battery pulled the device on several occasions, only to recieve this error...
    Uncaught exception.lang.java.error
    e
Can someone please give me some advice as to what to do here, this is my first Blackberry device and less than two weeks old.

    I would suggest trying this:
Go to Options > Device > Applications and scroll the AppWorld application and don't click on it, just scroll to it. Click Menu > Delete and remove the application.
Now, do a reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
Finally, use your BlackBerry browser to go to www.blackberry.com/appworld and download/install the AppWorld application again.
After installation and possibly another reboot, check your homescreen or another folder, or Downloads folder for the application.

After updating App World & Facebook App, both apps are disappeared from the device, showing in the application management but both applications icon are disappeared from the main list and if I am dowloading them again message appearing that the application already exist. Is anyone can help me to fix this issue?

Then you will need to make a backup of your device using the Desktop Software. Once you make the backup you will need to wipe the device. After you wipe the device see if those applications show up. If they do then something in your device settings is affecting the display of those icons. You can then use the Desktop Software to selectively restore just the important databases like messages, calendar, contacts, etc. Don't do a full restore as you may end up with the same problem.

Hello mashjohn and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Under Options>Device>Application Management, do you see App World installed? If so, delete it and ensure you reboot.
On your browser go to www.blackberry.com/appworld to reinstall it. If you get a prompt to reboot, ensure you do so.
Check to ensure your icon now appears.
Let me know how you make out.
