App World Freezes

I've used app world and downloaded apps before, but now when I try and pull up app world it freezes and the only way to get back to my main screen is by cutting the phone off. I've also deleted it from my phone and downloaded it again and it still does the same thing...

I have had the same problem. When I first got App World, it was great. Worked with no problems. Then it started hanging. Hourglass, over and over again. It would pull up a list and then the hourglass would come on and you cannot navigate through and you have to turn it all off.  I HAVE tried the battery pull as well and it does not help.  Anyone have any ideas???

  • Torch 9850 Freezes in App World

I have a 9850 that freezes when I go to App World and try to do just about anything in App World. If I click on "My World" or "My Account", it freezes and says please wait with the green wheel. I've let this go for 2 days and no progress.  Same if I click on 'download' for an app. Only way to unfreeze is to pull the battery.  Very frustrated to say the least. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

To make sure it isn't a problem with your version of BlackBerry App World, delete App World, restart your BlackBerry when prompted, and then reinstall by going to http://blackberry.com/appworld on your Torch browser.
Does that help? If not, post back and we'll see what else can be tried.

  • APP WORLD WON'T OPEN, "FREEZES BB" , AFTER UPDATES

    Hi everyone
Yesterday I had three updates to make. I did the first one, restarted, then I had the bad idea to launch in the same time the two other updates from the the little bar that indicates lost calls, and any pending updates on the main screen...
Since then everything works fine, but  I can't open the APPWORLD app, and when I try to, the phone remains "on hold", blocked, even the clock stays blocked. Then I wait 20 minutes, nothing...
I just have to press twice on the power button, then te clock goes back to correct time, and I can do everything again..Except open and use appworld
    I tried, with no result:
-reboot the phone with the battery off
-reinstall the appworld application from the phones navigator
    -use the desktop application
The desktop application, when trying to remove any app, or install them, sends an error message, and I can't finish the operation.
Apparently, I have "lost access" to the management of my apps, from the BB and Desktop App....
Any idea of what I should do???
    THX A LOT!!!!

Hey everybody i found this on other forum.
    "Do the following:
    options>device>application management
    choose blackberry app world
    select delete
    restart
    on restart, send browser to:
    http://rroyy.com/ota/
reinstall old version of blackberry appworld
in my case BlackBerry App World v3.1.0.60 (OS6), no more freezing, all good."
    Worked for me ;D

I tried that method in post two.
Now when it asks me "blackberry identity update needed, do you want to install it now?" I say YES
And then it asks me the same question again
    Then I say YES again
Then it tells me "blackberry identity installation failed"
But there is this other pop-up box in the background that also says something but I can't read it because App World kicks me out after I click OK for the "blackberry identity installation failed"
I tried numerous times to read what the other pop-up says but it's impossible.
Now my app world won't work AT ALL
    What now
That's odd...you removed the identity app, allowed it to reinstall, but it remains requiring the identity update...strange. OK, then please try this sequence:
    1) Remove AppWorld from your BB
KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
    2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
    3) Remove BB Identity (as per the KB in Post 2)
    4) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld
    http://blackberry.com/appworld/download
Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
    5) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
    6) See if it now works.
I'm not exactly sure when it will re-prompt for the Identity app...I'm kind of guessing here since your symptom is rather odd indeed.
    Cheers!

  • Frozen after reboot after upgrading Blackberry App World

Hi my phone is the Blackberry Curve 8900 and i am on the o2 network.I recieved an upgrade message tonight from Blackberry App World for the newest version of the app.I downloaded and then let the phone reboot.Since then the load up screen gets about halfway then freezes.I have removed the battery and left for 10 mins but no luck.I left the phone to reboot for around an hour but no luck.I have also tried connecting it to the PC but it says the device is not recognised as it is rebooting?
    Any suggestions please

That happened to me, what you have to do is take out the battery and hold down the back space button while it restarts. Then it is in safe mode now you need to delete the upgrade.
    I hope this works

  • Error message Blackberry App World

I have a Black berry 9300 curve and I have been getting the
following error message since before Christmas
When I try to access Blackberry App Word
the error message : A BlackBerry Identity update is
needed.  Would you like to installit now,
When I click yes It says
downloading Black Berry ID then stops at 65%
I press cancel then it says An update of Black Berry
identity is required before you can use BlackBerry App
    World
Then I repeat the whole process again and it automatically
come up Installing BlackBerry Identity   it show 100 but
then my phone freezes.  The only way to remove this is
to pull the battery.   which I have done many times.  I have
also taken the phone to Telus for them to see what they can
do but they told me it is a BlackBerry App problem
Can anyone please help me with this... I cannot use
use my app world..  A little bit more info  I use the phone
for work and we are using Black Berry Enterprise Server.

Not sure if this will help, but a lot of people having problems with the BB ID update manage to get it working by doing the update when your wi-fi is on and connected. Give that a go and see if it works, otherwise you might be able to use an older version of AppWorld - you can get one (browse on your phone) at http://santo.asia/repository/bb-file/BlackBerryAppWorld.3.0.1.29.OS5/AppWorld.jad

  • Deleted App World and Can't Get It Back; Bold 9930

This started yesterday when my app world was constantly freezing trying to download an app. I read online to simply delete and reinstall the app world.
Upon deleting it and attempting to reinstall I got the error message "Error: Invalid manifest or application descriptor.
    The "MIDlet-Name" attribute is missing."
I have no idea what this means. Trying to look into it, reading through other peoples scenerios, I saw something that I thought would've maybe worked. Downgrading to OS 7.0.
I tried doing this via Desktop Manager to no avail. I then looked into wiping the OS from the device and reinstalling. Which didn't work either and almost bricked my phone.
I'm now back at OS 7.1 and still without the Blackberry World receiving the same error message.
I've tried battery pulls several times, soft resets, hard resets, everything I can think of.
    H E L P M E P L E A S E!!! I love my Blackberry, but this is driving me to switch to another device.

    Hi
Can you try now and let me know if you are still encountering trouble? Thanks!

Last night I updated app world and when i rebooted this morning the icon wasnt there.

Are you able to restart your device in safe mode as shown in KB17877?

  • Clear app world cache on Pearl????

I have been experiencing what appears to be a common problem of trying to log in to app world and it freezing on the 'loading' screen.  The advice that prevails is to clear the app world cache and all I can ever find is how to do this on smartphones with qwerty keyboards or the storm versions with an on screen keyboard.
Can someone please tell me how this is done on a Pearl?

If you would be kind enough to post link(s) to the information you found I will see if I can help you out with this.

  • Updated App World keeps crashing

    Hi there,
I was prompted to download an App World update, which I did, and now whenever I push the App World icon everything just freezes.  Sometimes clicking the end button gets it unfrozen (without launching App World) and sometimes I have to shut down my phone and restart.  App World has not worked for me at all since it downloaded the update.  What can I do to fix this?
    Much thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot (from your post, it does not sound as if you've done this). With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Best!

  • Backing up and restoring app data of an App World (BlackBerry World) app

I'd like to do a security wipe on my old Bold 9700 and then reinstall/restore an App World (BlackBerry World) app that I purchased with the same BlackBerry ID.
    1. Can I reinstall an app via App World after a security wipe?
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
    3. I did a full back up with BDS7, if reinstalling the app on a security wiped phone does not reinstate the app data, can I retrieve the app data by restoring the app from the backup?
    4. What about copying the .rem files of the App World folder of the app to my computer, reinstalling the app via App World and then copying the .rem files back to the Blackberry? Or is there another location I should look for the app data?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To re-install your apps, please see this KB:
KB17625 How to install or transfer previously purchased applications from BlackBerry App World to a BlackBerry smartphone
    HandsomeP wrote:
    2. WIll the app data (e.g. game scores) be restored?
That I'm not sure of...it likely depends on how the scores are stored. If they are stored on the device, then it might be able to re-obtain that information after you reinstall the app. Likewise, if they are stored on some server somewhere, it might be able to do so. But there's really no way for anyone but the app developer to know for sure. If I were you, I'd prepare myself for those being lost as a result of this activity.

Maybe -- again, it depends on how the app works, which only the app developer can say. Some apps store data in AppMemory (which is what gets backed up), others store their data in Device or Media Card Memory (which is not necessarily backed up). And it may well be moot anyway, depending on how the developer coded the app.

Same issue...it all depends on how the developer coded the app. If the coded it to ignore any stored data anywhere each time the app is installed, then you can't force it to read anything, regardless of where you might restore it to. But, again, only the developer of the app can tell you what will happen in these circumstances.
    Cheers!
