Apparently DOA Zen Visio

So I just got my brand new, shiny ZVM. I plug it in, let it charge a bit, and then fire it up. The Creative logo shows, followed by the Zen logo, and then...
And then...
And then...
And then...
*half an hour later* And then...nope, still nothing. The backlight is on, as well as the key lights, and I can get it into recovery mode (from which I've done everything), but otherwise? Vegetati've. Power switch is unresponsi've unless I'm in recovery mode, from which I can turn it off and back on, with the same result. Is it because I didn't let it charge long enough? Please, somebody tell me that I didn't wait so long for a dead-on-arrival ZVM!

I had the same problem. I nearly wore out my paper clip resetting the darn thing over and over and over. Returned it and the new one worked great. Problem is they had only two and I ended up clearing their inventory out after this was done. Creative makes these come off the assembly line way too fast for a quality assurance test (if one even is performed at all). I only hope Creative never enters the pacemaker market!? All in all, getting one to finally work is worth it all. I love my ZVM.

  • Touch pad problem on Zen Visio

I have a Creative Zen Vision: M with a broken touch pad. I already did a research on this forum about how to fix it and none that works for me. I mean, first the tap touch is fine but up/down scrolling is not working. Then up/down scrolling comes back but tap touch stops working. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem. There is any other way to fix it's By the way, my Zen already out of the warranty period.
Is there anyway to just set it as a USB without using tap touch to set it's

Why not replace the part? Instructional video link also on the page? http://www.thegadgetdr.com/Zen-Visio...hpad-black.htm

  • Remote for Zen Visio

I am about to spend some more money and get a remote for my Vision:M.
I am pretty sure this one is compatible with it, but I am not sure as no where does it mention that it is compatible with it.
    This one!
I remember reading that the remote from the Zen Micro was compatible with it.
Can someone confirm this before I try and get it shiped from Singapore to Australia.
(It is IMPOSIBLE to get almost any creative accesories in Australia, I even went to a shop in Syndey called BlasterWorld. They are listed as a reseller on the Creative website, but they only had a couple of old Muvos and some sound cards.)
    Thanks.
Also, has anyone in Aust. bought stuff from the Singapore store before, and was it easy to get it shipped here? Thanks.

You might want to get it from Buy.com instead if they have it in stock and in the color you want.
do they ship internationaly? I can't find any information on rates to other countries (Australia)

  • Reorganising files on Zen Visio

Just bought my Zen. I have XP and WMA. I can't cut and paste files on the Zen. The Help function indicates you can. Anyone with similar issues? How do you resolve them?

I appreciate your response, and have finally run into some problems. I did everything you said, and when I went to play the video on my ZVM it said "video file not supported" and gave me a blank screen, but I could hear the video.
I have downloaded all the files using Divx 6.0+, and have played in WMP. Recently, however, I tried to download Divx 5.0+, and it screwed up playback in WMP.
Any suggestions on how to correct the videos so they are supported fully? Please let me know, any help would be appreciated.

  • How do i connect an ipod lcd screen to a zen visio

My zen vision m lcd screen recently cracked and after getting the full run around and reading up on the net, I bought a 2.5" lcd ipod replacement screen for $0 off of ebay. I really don't watch much movies so the quality doesn't really matter as long as I can see my music and audiobooks. So here is the problem:
They both have 32 pin connectors that attach to the 32 contact ribbon connector, but the ipod ribbon is about half the size of the zen's.
I would like to connect the new screen and have a couple of options.
. connect the ipod screen ribbon to the zen's ribbon, then connect to the player.
    2. somehow solder the ipod connector to the motherboard directly
    3. solder the ipod connector to the casing on the motherboard
    Problems:
. I don't even know if the connectors go to the same places, therefore don't know if it will work even if I do figure out how to do so.
    2. I have no idea how to go about soldering ribbon connectors because the wires are so close together.
    3. Any solder job that I could do would probably preclude me from putting everything back into the player.
If anybody has any ideas (other than buy a new one or pay the ridiculous $20 to fix it) your help is much appreciated and will probably help a whole mess of people.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Zen Vision M VS Zen Visio

I've been in the market for a new player for a bit now and have been playing with a few. I did buy the Zune to later take it back because I wasn't happy with the conversion process. Now, I'm looking at getting the Vision M or W. I know they are pretty close to the same, but I like the size of the M for portability, but I like the screen size for the W. There is also about $00 when it's all said and done. I am looking at the 30gb as I had the 60gb Vision M and found it to be too fat.
What do you guys think? I do really like watching videos and that's one of the big reasons I'm going with the Zens. I heard that the quality of the videos on the W are less than the M because of the screen as well.

you have double posted this. Once in the correct forums, and now once in the incorrect forum. Need to keep it in the media devices section.

  • Error while copying files to Zen Visio

    Hello everyone,
I just bought the zen vision m a couple days ago. Since the first connection w/ the PC I've had problems because windows would not recognize the player. By now I downloaded a fixup file so that that is working pretty well. But now my next problem is that I can only copy about one fourth of my mp3 music. Windows just stops copying, not even a wondow which reports an error pops up. But other files like movies work fine.
Does anyone of you know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks, Simon

    Status update on this problem:
Yesterday I received my update CD to Snow Leopard. I installed it but I am still unable to copy files to my NAS. But now, the error message has changed to:
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "<<the name of the folder being copied>>" can't be read or written (Error code -36)"

  • US Playdock Z500 with UK Zen Visio

I really want a Creative Playdock Z500 to use with my Zen Vision M 30GB. However, it seems I missed the boat on the Europe supply, and everywhere I've looked is out of stock. I noticed it's in stock at Amazon.com so am thinking about importing one. Before I do, can anyone confirm that a US Playdock will be compatible with a UK bought Zen?Thanks!Sarah

    Hi,
    Here's the link.

  • Video Converter Freezing on Zen Visio

Hi all,?Everytime?I try to do video conversion using the video converter that came with the Zen Vision:M software it will completely lock up my machine. I called tech support and they suggested Uninstalling and reinstalling the creative software in a clean boot, which I did. The problem still happened, then they told me "Sorry, we can't help you anymore...check the website for updates" I'm converting various types of AVI files. Some from digital cameras, the internet, and newly encoded files but they all freeze. I know I could just copy them to the player, but the point of the video converter is to reduce the size when it's on the player so I'm not wasting space. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
It seems that most video subscription services do not work with the Zen Vision: M or W but I have found that Amazon Unbox works with these players. You download the program from Amazon (Free)? then you purchase or rent the videos that you want to see and they will download to your computer then the downloaded program from Amazon will trnsfer them to your device. Hope this helps!

  • Recording from Vinyl Tapes to Zen Visio

1 ) Is it possible to transfer music directly from my Vinyl Cassettes to Zen Vision M (60GB)?
    2) Can I use External mic for voice recording instead of inbuilt mic?
Any special accessories required for the above tasks and their availability (Creative or otherwise)
    R D SAMANT

You will need a digital audio player with a line in to be able to record from tape or from vinyl or any other external source. Vision M does not have this. Ditto for an external mic.
The JB and JB3 have line in capability. JB3 is still a favorite of the taping community.
I also use one in my turntable setup, recording to it from an amp output. This is a VERY convenient way of digitizing my old vinyl.

  • Password Protected Content - Zen Visio

Hi I recently bought a zen vision m which was described as new. However it appears that someone has already set the password for the protected show / hide protected content functionality. Is there anyway of unlocking / resetting this without knowing the password Cheers

Running Cleanup in the player Rescue mode should reset all the player settings.

  • Album Art doesn't display in all cd in the Zen Visio

Album art doesn't display in all cd in the Zen Vison M . I have 649 cd and most of them display correct on ZEN Vision M. But some doesn't , I try to delete de Cd and rip it again and add the album art it didn't work for some reason some of the albums does not dipslay. The album art shows in Zen Explorer but not on the Zen vision M. Do you know why. I also try to get the Cover enlarge 200x200 or larger 500x500 but still odesn't work please any help. I had read all the suggestion in the forum also and follow suggestion but it doesn't work.
    Take Care
    AussieDog

If you select multiple songs and choose Get Info, the Album Art box will always be blank, even if the individual songs each have the same common Art. This is expected behavior.
Copying the Art directly to the iPod will never work. If your iTunes displays the Art fine, and the nano doesn't, your problem is likely to be a firmware issue with the iPod. I would suggest performing a "restore" and then try again. Otherwise, if issues remain, reinstall iTunes if more than one XP user is affected.

  • Zen Visio

I have recently bought a Vision M, I love the player but I have some issues with it.
Primarily, when navigating whenever i try to access the Artist page, it takes a good 0 seconds to load; is this normal? iPods seem to manage it a lot faster.
Also, when browsing the player from my computer, whenever i choose the "music" subfolder in either MTP Device or Media Explorer, it hangs for 5-20 seconds before showing me anything. My music is relati'vely well organised, most being in folders by artist name and I am using USB 2.0.
Also, what exactly is "AudibleManager" ?
    Thankyou in advance
    Joe.

Yeah, if you have alot of files navigating to differnt catagories takes a few seconds, especially when you are trying to list each track individually.
You're on the right track by keeping each album in its own folder, The load time is alot less.
I think the problem is in the PLayforSure technology, because before the Zen Xtra got it, it was really fast at listing the content. The Zen Vision M was made with PlayforSure built in.

  • Problem using SL3100 with Zen Visio

    Hideho...
I'm having trouble using the next/previous track feature on the SL300 headphones when paired with my Zen vision M
This is actually my second pair of headphones that i've tried to do this with, and this is the second time that i've had this problem...am i supposed to be under a certain menu on my zen m or something? everytime i hit the track button on the headphones all i hear is a beep and then...nothing. it's like i've hit the mute button momentarily.
    ...maybe it's my zen?
    HELP!
    *wallflower*

<EM>My second Zen has been performing ok since I cleaned it up. Hopefully this will solve problem. If it continues, I will be purchasing an Ipod.</EM>
    <EM></EM>
John that is exactly what I opted to do. I was just too nervous making this kind of investment to have the customer service response so lacking, along with the weak warranty.
I got an iPod, though I really didn't want too. I was able to get the Hi-Fi speaker system, JVC car adapter kit so that the text information and control of my iPod is done via my JVC head unit. These two things alone made the switch worth while. I really like the ZV:M, but with the above mentioned issues and no real accessories this was a no brainer. I know folks say on the display isn't as good, but it is good enough for watching video podcast occasionally, I didn't buy the ZV:M or iPod to watch videos. But I can tell you the touch pad is better and doesn't dri've nuts.
By the way I've not had one single issue. No clattering MP3 playback and no freezing up... not a single time and I've used the iPod for going on 4 days. Today was the first full day I used it on the road in my truck, in the office and to take a slow walk around the property to check on my animals. Flawless performance! I am happy! If only I could have had this with the Zen Vision:M. I really wanted to support Creative, but this is what happens when you don't do a better job with quality control and testing your product. I had not realize that Creative is actually in 3rd place, well behind San Disk which is in 2nd place by a country mile behind Apple. Now I understand why no one makes accessories for the Creative MP3 players.
