For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Found the problem. I considered the fact (not having actually tried Itunes in windows8) that it could be a windows 8 problem exclusively.
    I found this...

    Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
    And that did the trick.

Error when opening iTunes : iTunes has stopped working '' A problem caused the program to stop working correctly''.
When I repaired damaged files the problem still exists and also after uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling iTunes.
My pc is working with windos 8.
    Is there a solution?

    Hey there Rodney274,
It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,

  • Error message when opening iTunes after updating Windows 8.1

I recently updated my windows software to 8.1.  Now I am getting a message that iTunes stopped responding and must close.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall iTunes but that has not fixed the problem.  I cannot get iTunes to open.  There is no error number when this dialogue box opens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Socestlavie,
It sounds like iTunes is not opening correctly and is quitting on launch. I would troubleshoot the iTunes launch issues with the following article to help resolve the issue:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717
First attempt starting iTunes in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists, and proceed accordingly.
If it comes down to reinstalling iTunes, there is an article provided that will uninstall iTunes AND its associated softwares for a complete wipe, and reinstall, so I would try that one more time, if needed.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Error message "Itunes has stopped working" and closes when opening itunes store

I had problems with the latest itunes freezing up that i installed itunes 10.53 and it works fine now except when i go to the itunes store, itunes stops working and the whole program closes.I checked the diagnosics and everything comes up green lights. What could be the problem?

Let's try the following user tip with that one:
iTunes for Windows 10.7.0.21: "iTunes has stopped working" error messages when playing videos, video podcasts, movies and TV shows

  • Error 1202 with iTunes Store and Windows Vista

When I try to redeem music on iTunes Store, or access my account, etc. I receive "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-1202).
I have read many similar posts and tried many fixes (checked time/date on my computer, made sure LAN proxy settings is unchecked, turned off my Norton firewall, tried to access iTunes Store in safe mode, etc.). None of these worked. Please help as we would like to purchase music from the iTunes store and have done so successfully in the past on this computer.

This problem is related to having your computer, Apple device, etc
(from your current physical location) being unable to resolve/connect to
the following site/domain names and their related IP address(s).
The following table is presented to help explain/clarify this issue:
    Site/Domain name | IP Address
    phobos.apple.com | 17.250.237.43
    deimos3.apple.com | 206.169.246.144
    albert.apple.com | 17.149.240.64
    gs.apple.com | 17.151.36.30
    itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.171
    ax.itunes.apple.com | 206.169.246.139
If ANY of these sites/IP address are unresolvable (via PING for example)
then the ability/usability of Apple's iTunes (and the Store) will suffer.
To have yourself verify that (if) you can connect to these sites, you'll
need to open up a MSDOS/Command prompt window
and then type "ping" (without the quotes) and one of the (above) listed sites.
For example you would type the following at your command prompt:
ping phobos.apple.com (then press the return/enter key)
which (should) give you results like this:
pinging phobos.apple.com.akadns.net http://17.250.237.43 with 32 bytes of data:
Note: Anyt response other than "reply" (like Request timed out)
indicates a problem resolving the site's name to an IP address
and (generally) has NOTHING to do with your (normally functioning) computer
as this is dependent on the ISP (Internet Service Provider) that you are
using to connect to the Internet (like Sprint, Insightbb, etc) with.
The 'key' here is that it's the ISP's responsibility to (properly) resolve
the site's name to (one or more of) Apple's sites.
If (however) Apple (itself) is (currently) experiencing a DDOS attack
(Distributed Denial Of Service) upon one (or more) of it's sites, then THAT
would explain a possible cause of the problem.
However I stress THAT is NOT the problem since I can connect from my Insightbb
(ISP provider) at home but (currently) can not connect at work via their ISP.
This is (also) WHY the "tag" of the FQDNSN (Fully-Qualified DNS Name)
is listed as http://akadns.net since that is the ISP/Router resolving the DNS name!
I hope that this has helped shed some light as to WHo's problem this REALLY is,
and will help to stop the Apple-User 'finger-pointing' game in it's tracks!

  • Error When Opening iTunes

      Windows XP SP2
This suddenly started happening and I don't know why. When I open iTunes it says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." then it closes. No iTunes window pops up or anything, just this error window. It has no relevant information that might help anyone here fix. I've tried re-installing iTunes, scanning for viruses and spyware but found nothing. I even tried removing everything from registry after uninstalling iTunes but that did not help. I'm thinking maybe a iTunes substitute but I don't know if they work, I heard there are some out there but never used before.
P.S. I have an iPod problem too, check it out.

Hi there - I have had this exact problem after restoring my computer. I have just had the problem again and found this article. By following all the advice, I was able to get itunes back running again.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
The other thing to do is delete the Quicktime icon from your desktop toolbar. Also in the section which talks about Emptying your Temp Directory, my system would not let me do this as some files were "bring used", so I went into the temp folder and manually deleted any which related to itunes or Quicktime.
    Hope this helps.

  • C++ Runtime Error when opening iTunes

When I try to open iTunes, the iTunes window pops up and I get a runtime error with the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Specifically, it says -
    Runtime Error!

    Hey Peronthious,
What version of iTunes is installed on your computer? If its not 7.1.1 download it here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you are already using iTunes 7.1.1 lets use this article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 to completely remove iTunes and reinstall it. The article also has a link to a MSCONFIG article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538 which may help resolve the issue.

  • QT error when opening iTunes - "QT failed to initalize: error 2093"

Trying to install iTunes 9 on new computer with Windows 7. Installed iTunes and QT without a problem, but when I try to open iTunes I get the above message. I've uninstalled and reinstalled QT, but get the same message. Any advice?

Interestingly, when I reinstalled at work today, no problems. I opened and closed iTunes several times. Now tonight, I tried to open iTunes and I'm back to the same error message. At work I'm running through a docking station; would that matter at all?
Yeah ... that seems an odd coincidence. (Not trying to suggest here that it is just a concidence ... the timing really does seem a bit suspicious.)
A few questions aimed at trying to work out if something significant is associated with the difference between home and work.
Every time you've had that error you've been at home, but whenever you've been using it at work (after reinstalling) it seems fine? If so, does the problem show up the first time you open iTunes when you're at home? Or does itunes seem to run properly at some times at home and then crash at home?
You mention the docking station ... are you using a different monitor at work than you do at home? (Say, you use the laptop's display at home, but a seperate monitor is plugged into the dock at work?)
Are you connecting to a network at work? If so does the network give you access to networked drives? (Wondering there about some odd situation where your QuickTime is actually installed (somehow) on a work drive ... and when you open the machine at home, the quicktime program is genuinely missing from the PC.)
If there's a work network, are you working at one of those places where they set up everyone's PCs so that "My Documents" folders get stored on a different central PC?
Are you using a different user account on the PC at work than you use on the PC when you have it at home?
(Sorry ... didn't intend to sound quite so much like the Spanish Inquisition, there ...)

  • Quicktime error when opening itunes.

When I open itunes I keep getting this error:
    AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.1.1.5 ModName: quicktime.qts
    ModVer: 7.1.6.200 Offset: 0006f333
looks like some type of quick time error. I started happening after the 7.1.6 upgrade. Any suggestions?
      Windows XP Pro

Quick Time will not open. "I get a Buffer overrun detected!" error message. This error is given by Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. The steps I have take so far are to uninstall itunes and quick time, delete the temp folder, run MS clean up utility, run CC cleaner and cleaned up the registry for the uninstalled items. I then went back and reinstalled quick time and then itunes. I still get the same error. Itunes will open fine after a reboot. After a while it does not open anymore.

  • Crash when openeing itunes store

pretty much what i said in the subject, just installed itunes on a fresh windows 7 install and every time i try to open the itunes store tab it crashes.

Only yesterday I also received this error message upon trying to access the iTunes store and have spent ages trying different fixes, none of which seem to work.
It's incredibly frustrating as this is mainly what I use my computer for!
Please, please, please can someone from Apple help with this problem?

  • Error when installing itunes 10 on windows 7 64 bit

why do I keep n getting the error messages when i try and install itunes on windows 7 64 bit. But sometimes it will install but once it gets done it say that something is not install I need to uninstall and reinstall itunes..... is there something I need to do to get this to work....

    HRESULT:0x800736FD
It's rarer to see these on Windows 7 than it is on Vista. Somtimes they're a bit easier to deal with on 7, too.
First, head to Windows Update and see if you can update the PC. If you can, and you collect updates without any errors, try another iTunes install.
If you get errors installing Windows Updates, double click on the failed updates in your Update history to bring up a small window containing alphanumeric codes for the erros. Are they also 800736FDs, or are you getting other error codes?

  • Version 8 configure error when opening Itunes after updating to V8

I have contacted iTunes several times with no answer to this problem.
Everything was fine until I updated to Version 8, now every time I try and open iTunes it starts with a green bar stops about 3/4 along bar then says you need to restart to configure with Windows.
I restart then it does the same as before yes, DEJA VU.
This VERSION 8 is BUGGED I tell ya!
Any solutions would be appreciated before I delete this software and use something else!

I have a similar problem. After updating to version 8 (October 25, 2008) the itunes icon is plain and clicking it gives an error message (translated) like "This measure is only allowed for installed products".
So I fetch the iTunes801setup.exe and try to install it again by clicking the "Repair" button. It appears to do its' thing and asks me to restart the machine. OK, but after that it's the same again: "This measure is only allowed for installed products".
I don't want to lose all my music, can it be saved?
I guess that I will lose it if I remove iTunes and start all over.
