  • APPCRASH with Photoshop CS/Windows 7

    I bought a new computer with Windows 7 (8 GB Ram).  I installed Photoshop CS (v. 8.0) which I had used on my previous XP system.  For a week I used the program regularly and had no problems.  Sometimes I would edit files for hours at a time.
    Suddenly today I got an error "Photoshop has stopped working".  Details below.
    Problem signature:

    Now whenever I open Photoshop I can edit for a few minutes and then it will crash with the same error.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with the same results.  I tried "Run as Administrator" and upgraded my video driver.  Still the same results.
    Nothing specific seems to trigger the error, I'll just be editing and it crashes at random.  Any suggestions appreciated.
    Ken

    Hey Ken
    Here are 2 possible solutions, which ever you're more comfortable with.
    1. Right click on the Photoshop Icon, select properties form the drop down menu. Select the Compatibility tab, under "Compatibility Mode" click the "Run this program incompatibilty mode for" select from the down menu the operating system CS last ran stable under.
    Reboot Photoshop see if there's an improvement.
    2. Alternatively - Open the Control Panel and select Troubleshooting from the available options.Click on "Programs - Run programs made for previous versions of Windows". Select "Program Compatibility" and follow the instructions.
    Good luck

  • Palm Desktop Conflict with Vista

    I use Windows Vista Home Premium, and I have installed Palm Desktop 6.2 to be used with a Tungsten E2.  Problem is that I get an AppCrash error message for the program Windows Media Player when the Palm Desktop software is installed on my computer.  About every hour or so, I get the following error message that reads as follows:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: wmplayer.exe
    Application Version: 11.0.6001.7000
    Application Timestamp: 47919356
    Fault Module Name: PalmUSBDirect.dll_unloaded
    Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
    Fault Module Timestamp: 40c81674
    Exception Code: c0000005
    Exception Offset: 04834028
    OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033
    Additional Information 1: ee0c
    Additional Information 2: 0f3137665bbf0bb676c8a16f3fa76e52
    Additional Information 3: 1eff
    Additional Information 4: 719ef9a8ab079fcb5b3b21da22d4fa30
    I have deleted the Palm Desktop software from my computer, then deleted the Palm folder under Program files, and finally restarted my computer.  After this the error messages stop.
    I have then reinstalled the Palm Desktop software onto my computer and the AppCrash error messages for Windows Media Player then come back.  Very annoying.
    So far as I can tell, the Desktop software syncs fine, using Outlook program as its source.
    Anyone else have this problem?  Is there a glitch with the Palm Desktop software as it is used in computers with the Windows Vista OS?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

    Try a clean uninstall of Palm desktop and see if that may correct the issue.
    Here are the clean uninstall instructions for Vista.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents -->
    Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and
    copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer.
    Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below.
    C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or
    PalmOne
    C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata
    *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go
    into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck
    hide hidden files.
    Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
    Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box.
    Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
    Then reinstall your palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you
    did not sync before create a hotsync name.

    Thank you for your responses.  This server is on a dell poweredge T710 with 192 gb of memory.  All the hardware drivers are up to date and so is sql.  No memory errors.  The only error I get is when sql crashes.  The only 3rd party
    dll what is on the server would be xp_greta_64.dll.  We are looking into that.
    I have a question about setting up a link server with 'out of process'  We only use sql server link connections with other sql servers.  When I try to setup 'out of process' unchecking allow inprocess under SQLNCLI all of my link servers end up
    failing and giving me errors.  I had to switch it back since this is a production machine. Is there a way to just set up 'out of process' on one link server with SQLNCLI, it seems it is all or nothing.  Do I have to delete all the current link
    servers and recreate them?
    The only other thing that we have changed is that we have added Python 3.3 and ActivePerl 5.16.3 but not on this server.  Only on all of our other sql servers.
    Here is our last dump from yesterday.  Thanks again, If I have too I will open a case up with Microsoft.

  • APPCRASH on Windows Vista 32-Bit

    This has been happening for awhile now and is really getting under my skin. My computer is free of viruses and spyware (I'm a computer pro) and yet I still cannot figure this out or find a solution.
    Every time I plug in my iPod to sync it on my Windows Vista 32-bit machine, iTunes automatically opens and then I get a Windows Vista Crash error. Regardless of how I answer that question, iTunes closes. The iPod then enters an endless boot loop. Reopening iTunes does not solve this, nor does restarting the computer. iTunes has been reinstalled several times and no luck. The only way around this issue is to force iPod into disk mode, format it, use iTunes (which works then) to restore it, and then recopy my entire library every time I want to sync it. The iPod still functions properly at all other times.
    The details of the crash are as follows. Again, my computer is verified Spyware and Virus free and I have installed the latest versions of iTunes every time they come out to rule out an iTunes issue. This has to be a file conflict. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance!

    ntdll.dll can indicate all manner of things, unfortunately. (I only tend to associate it's appearance in error event with malware on XP systems.) It's such a fundamental part of the operating system that it can be a driver or damaged file of just about any description triggering the ntdll.dll issue.
    ... conceivably it could be ntdll.dll itself, though. Is the PC a little unstable at the moment in other ways? If so, an sfc /scannow is probably worth a try:

  • Appcrash with multitrack sessions in Audition CS6 on a MacBook Pro with Windows 7

    This is an issue with multitrack sessions different from 44100 Hz in Audition CS6 (as part of a Premium Suite CS6). While multitrack sessions with  a sampling rate of  44100 Hz works normally (as long as I use clips with 44100 Hz) any other sampling rate causes  an APPCRASH (s. below). Also with the insertion ( in a 44100 Hz multitrack session, of course) of any clip with a sampling rate different from 44100 Hz, the programme crashes in the moment it's going to generate a adapted copy for the multitrack timeline.
    Audition is installed on a MacBook Pro Retina 15" ,Mid 2014, Model 11,3, Intel Core i7 4870HQ 2,5 GHz, 16GB RAM  with  Windows 7 SP1.
    I tried all advices of the Adobe troubleshooting site and some of the community.
    Especially:
    - the simplified mode with user-defined system start
    - deactivated user account control
    - new user account
    - deactivated data execution prevention (DEP)
    Also the use of different audio interfaces affords no effect:
    - build in Cirrus Logic CS4208 with MME drivers
    - Motu UltraLight mk3 hybrid via USB with Asio drivers.
    In spite of an extensive search I can't find any similar case in the net.
    So, please, can you help me?

    I'm afraid you are right. At the worst I'm more than 50% of the audition users on a mac with windows.To solve the problem within a passable time I would like to change to the mac version of audition. But unfortunately it's impossible to use the mac version with a windows licence. And CS6 licences (mac audition) are not longer available (only at a moon rate).
    Because of the weekend we can pass the time with the latest news of my trouble-shooting.
    The crash is not only within the multitrack session but also within the waveform view: when I try to change the sampling rate (Edit -> Convert Sample Type) the programme crashes with the same problem signature. And here it crashes with all sampling rates , including 44.1k audio files. On the other hand I can play all sampling rates within the waveform view.
    I compared the logfile from the predecessor of the MacBook , a LG Notebook with windows vista and a working Au CS6 with the current logfile of the Mac: They are identical at the beginning and at the end (termination sequence). But after " Initializing AuScripting"  there is a "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code: 0" and the listing of a couple of codecs in the Notebook logfile - but not so in the Mac logfile.
    Also the logfile of my workstation with a working Au CS6 shows this "DLMS 6.0x39 FileServer startup code" - line. Because of the two working and one crashing computer this part of the logfile seems to be important ??
    Logfile audition predecessor (Notebook) - detail
    A blank line is only to arrange the logfile more clearly - it doesn't stand for missing lines.

  • ITunes does not launch in Windows 7 (BEX/APPCRASH)

    I have been having this itunes error since I updated to 10.5
    I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
    I am able to run Quicktime 7 normally
    When I try to open iTunes, the pointer shows the spinning wheel briefly, then nothing. There is no error message. I tried updating windows and drivers to the latest versions already. In addition, I followed the troubleshooting steps on the apple website, and all to no avail. Disabling all processes except Itunes and its helper app still not solve the problem, neither is creating another user account the solution.
    I decided to check out the event viewer and these are 4 logs that i see.

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Nowadays people don't back up to CD/DVD. They get an *external hard drive* and copy over their entire iTunes folder, and whatever else they are backing up.
    The advantages are (1) this method does not depend on iTunes's horribly unreliable burning capability (2) you can look at the external and see that the stuff you backed up is really there. (If you want to see an unhappy person, it is when they try to restore from CD/DVD and discover that it did not burn correctly in the first place.) (3) it lets you back up your other valuable files besides your music.

  • APPCRASH on Windows 7 no matter what I do

    I am running Windows 7 home premium, 64 bit. I have tried every fix that I could possibly find on the internet to fix my Skype. I have reinstalled it countless times, deleted Appdata files, upgraded it, tried to install older versions, tried to clean up my registry, and I have even reinstalled Internet Explorer multiple times with multiple versions. None of them seem to make any difference, it is always the same; I reinstall Skype, I try opening it up, it comes up and then crashes, giving me the message below:

    After closing the error dialog box I get a "Access violation at address 01ACE538 in module 'Skype.exe'. Read of address 00000048.
    Is there a solution to this problem, Since I'm getting it even after removing and reinstalling Skype.
    Please,  run the DirectX diagnostics tool (32-bit option).
    Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
    Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.
